It was a homecoming for Ivan Moody as Five Finger Death Punch closed out the Blackcraft Stage on day two of Aftershock.  When I think of energetic crowds hanging over the barricade desperate to get close to a band, 5FDP usually comes to the top of the list.  The band has created a loyal and rowdy fanbase across the United States and there were many that turned out at Aftershock.  The band will be releasing a Greatest Hits album in the near future and are planning a new album and tour in 2018.  Click on any photo below to open the gallery and scroll below the photos to watch the music video for “Under and Over It”.

Maria Brink and company performed their ritual on day two of Aftershock.  Every time I see In This Moment live I wonder how the presentation will go for each song, and every time I’m surprised with what I see.  In This Moment is currently promoting their latest album Ritual which is available now.  Click any photo below to open the gallery and scroll below the photos to watch the music video for “Oh Lord”.

Just two days before winning the Loudwire Music Award for Breakthrough Band of the Year, Beartooth performed on the Main Stage on day two of Aftershock in Sacramento, CA.  The photos below captivate the no nonsense style of hard rock these men perform.  Click on any photo below to open the gallery and scroll below the photos to watch the music video for “Hated”.

It’s not a gimmick or just for show; Anti-Flag’s statements really are personal and what they believe.  After talking with Justin Sane for a few minutes it became clear that their music really reflects how they feel.  Anti-Flag performed on the Blackcraft stage on day one of Aftershock 2017 and riled the crowd up for the rest of the afternoon.  The band’s newest album American Fall will be released Nov 3rd.

New Years Day opened up day two on the main stage at Aftershock.  After headlining Warped Tour this year, New Years Day introduced themselves with some riffs and a question for the audience:

“How many of you have never seen New Years Day before?”

Ash Costello then looked around and said “OK that’s just about everyone.”  It got a genuine laugh from everyone and the crowd got into the show more, which included a salute to Pantera.  Click on any of the photos below to open the gallery and scroll below the photos to see an interview with New Years Day after their set.

This was the first time I had seen Mastodon since 2009 and they were every bit as engaging and technically sound as I remember.  The Atlanta band took the Blackcraft stage on day one of Aftershock to a sweaty and dust covered crowd in Sacramento.  The band featured many songs from their latest album Emperor of Sand (which is fantastic by the way) and are currently on tour with Eagles of Death Metal and Russian Circles.  Click on any photo below to open the gallery and scroll below the photos to see a review on Emperor of Sand.
