It is scheduled to be released on October 11, 2019 worldwide, in Japan under BMD Fox Records (early on October 8, 2019), in Europe under earMusic, and elsewhere under Babymetal Records. Photos of The Faim at Fubar. All photos taken by Chelsea Dufresne on October 5th, 2019 in St. Louis, MO.
The Faim returned to Fubar in St. Louis, MO. for their co-headlining tour with UK based band Stand Atlantic on October 5th. This show put them a little over half way to completion of their full U.S. run which will be continuing out towards the west coast. The four piece from Australia seemed to be no strangers to a select few in the STL music scene, but for most it was their first time witnessing the high energy ensemble.
The band performed songs off of their newly released album entitled ‘State of Mind’, which debuted in mid September of this year, as well as some older favorites sprinkled into their set. Upon completion of this month long tour, they head across the pond to finish out the year with their own headlining tour in the UK and Europe.
With their catchy lyrics and music that commands you to get up and dance, this is a band that you don’t want to miss the opportunity to see at more intimate venues, as it seems they have a bright future ahead of them in this industry. You can find the remaining U.S. tour dates, as well as links to their new music, at the web address here: http://thefaim.com
Photos of Chevelle at Louder Than Life. All photos taken by Luke Spencer in Louisville, KY on September 27th, 2019.
There was a dust-bowl rising at Kentucky Expo Center after thousands of rock fans moving back and forth through the first day of Louder Than Life. It was an extremely hot setting and the dust storm was a big factor in playing for Chicago’s three piece rock group that have been a big part of the scene for almost twenty years now. In turn, the dust is going to settle on this chapter of Chevelle at the end of this year, as long time bassist Dean Bernardini will be leaving the band to spend more time with his family. Chevelle’s next album will be his final with Dean as well.
The band performed an excellent set in Louisville and if this is Dean’s last run with the band, then I say cheers to the man for an amazing career. He has helped flesh out the band and grow from their sound in the early 2000’s. The group went into the studio over a month ago to work on their upcoming release and here’s hoping it won’t take much longer. Check out Chevelle on one of their headline tour dates this fall if you can. They are proof that it’s the sound that makes a concert something special.

Photos of Dirty Honey at Louder Than Life. All photos taken by Luke Spencer in Louisville, KY on September 28th, 2019.
Dirty Honey is in the perfect position to explode in the rock world. Not only has the unsigned band gone to #1 with “When I’m Gone” but are also currently supporting Alter Bridge & Skillet on tour.
For those unaware, Dirty Honey has the fuzzy, gritty rock and roll vibe with no effects that has becoming missing in 2019. It’s definitely a throwback when rock and roll was a style meant to make you feel alive. Their style is better said by band member Marc Labelle: “We don’t want to bring anything back, we just want to make music that’s sexy and hard rocking all at the same time.”
That statement from Labelle truly fits what the style is going for. At the front of crowd on day two of Louder Than Life, there were several fans with Dirty Honey shirts on supporting the group. It also helped that Guns N’ Roses were playing that night and DH have now opened a couple shows for the iconic rock band.
The road is wide open for these men and when a full album finally comes, it’ll be exciting to see how things take off for them. Until then, you can check out some of their sexy and hard rocking music below.

Apocalyptica, Finland’s Cello Rock Band To Release New Album “Cell-0”
“It is tough to express without lyrics, but in Cell-0, we found particles of our universe previously unknown to us. Millions of notes combine to create music just as millions of cells combine to create life, and when you visualize the whole thing, similar patterns appear.” – Cell-0
Bristling with an epically baroque life and energy, Cell-0, the ninth studio album by Finland’s multi-Platinum cello-rockers Apocalyptica, will be released on January 10, 2020 (Silver Lining Music).
The recording of Cell-0followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band – Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, Paavo Lötjönen, and Mikko Sirén, all of whom are classically-trained musicians – a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music. Cell-0 is the quartet’s first instrumental album in 17 years and found the musicians challenging themselves to discover new flavors and colors in their respective instruments.
“Ashes Of The Modern World” is the album’s first single and music video, both released today. This powerful video was directed by the award-winning Finnish photographer/videographer Ville Juurikkala who has worked with a wide variety of prominent artists from Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith to opera singer Andrea Bocelli. Check out the video HERE.
“Ashes Of The Modern World”
Produced by Apocalyptica, mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Metallica and Black Sabbath), and recorded at Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki, Cell-0 sees the band soaring into ethereal space on “Ashes Of The Modern World,” while diving head-first into aggressive thrash ‘cello-riffery’ during “En Route To Mayhem.”
Rather than put strategic attention on aspects like writing singles, the band approached Cell-0 as a fully-formed piece of art, connecting the right details and hues with the energy of being a real cello-metal band. By pushing themselves to find other places and levels in their music, Apocalyptica opened up to some seemingly unorthodox methods and emotions while traveling through that creative process.
Said Eicca Toppinen, “These new songs have so many layers and are so complex, and it’s not always easy to point exactly what they are about. But I think that’s also the beauty of instrumental music, that the listener always can feel free to experience the same songs in very, very different ways. It’s also one reason why we don’t want to explain the songs before they’re experienced.”
Cell-0
In support of the release of Cell-0, Apocalyptica will Special Guest with Sabaton on a 15-country, 23-date European arenas tour that begins on January 17, 2020 in Zurich, Switzerland. “We will be planning the full Cell-0 tour to be at the next level in terms of how we frame our performance,” added Toppinen, “because we don’t know any other way.” All confirmed dates are below.
Photos of Ded at Louder Than Life. All photos taken by Luke Spencer in Louisville, KY on September 29th, 2019.
Two years ago Ded burst onto the scene hitting satellite radio hard and grabbing the attention of thousands through touring, festivals and word-of-mouth from the newly found die-hard fans. In 2019, it appears the fires have been lit again as Ded is preparing for their next step.
Performing on day three of Louder Than Life, the band appeared with a different presence on stage than from the last times I had seen then at Aftershock 2017 and Shiprocked 2018. There was more focused delivery in their set and it made the music sound stronger.
The real noise came with the closing song “Anti-Everything” which saw the Louisville crowd at their rowdiest. It was a rhythmic jumping section in front of the stage and while many had to hoist up crowd surfers, everyone was still paying full attention to the band on stage and enjoying what they were hearing.
I’m curious to see what is next for Ded. The band is going on a solid tour supporting In This Moment and I’m sure more dates will come at the beginning of 2020. Here’s hoping a new album is in the works as I’m definitely interested in hearing what they will do next after their popular debut Misanthrope.
