AWOLNATION Release Video For “California Halo Blue”

Watch the video “California Halo Blue” / Hear “Drive” HERE

Following the excitement and enthusiasm surrounding the launch of the fastest growing song at Alternative Radio – “The Best” – the first single off their upcoming album, AWOLNATION has readied even more new music for fans from their forthcoming release.  The latest is a new song, “California Halo Blue,” out everywhere now via Better Noise Music.

The song, from the approaching new album that Aaron Bruno has been concocting over the past year, is one that personally means a lot to the artist. It was conceptualized and born out of a heavy and personal experience in late 2018. Admist the tragic California fires of 2018, an occurance now all too frequent, the Woolsey fire tore through Bruno’s hometown and surrounding areas almost exactly one year ago.

While the fires rapidly spread, he was out on tour and couldn’t get home if he tried, only able to be on the phone with his wife while she packed up what she could, before evacuating with their dogs in tow. Though he and his family were some of the more fortunate ones, losing a recording studio and all the gear in it as flames burned through the property, their home was miraculously sparred. “I’m extremely lucky and grateful,” he says.

That date, and the ones leading up to it, inspired the anthemic new release, with the song playing out like a journal entry of the day. The title and some of the lyrics were influenced by something Bruno was thinking about during those moments. “I kind of had this hopeful fantasy in my head visualizing there being a halo around California made of water, and that it could put out the fires,” he explains of “California Halo Blue.”

The accompanying music video, directed by Ravi Dhar, is an ethereal re-telling of the artist’s experience that inspired the song. It features footage from firefighters themselves who have helped to combat the fires and save so many lives. Bruno hopes to also bring a spotlight to the first responders who do so much for communities effected by wildfires and other tragedies. See below for some organizations where support can be given to firefighters and their families dealing with loss.

The B-Side of “California Halo Blue” is a cover of a classic song by The Cars, “Drive.” While recorded well before the passing of Ric Ocasek, it now takes on a new meaning and helps to pay tribute to the amazing songwriter, artist, and producer that Ocasek was.

The AWOLNATION cover of “Drive” is the result of a long-held desire of Bruno to try out his own version of the song. A record that whenever it came on, infatuated him, he knew one day he would try recording his own version. “It has a little bit of an 80’s/90’s hip hop beat in it,” he says of the cover, an era of the genre that he grew up on and continues to love. “It’s really just me putting my own little spin on a song I always treasured, and at the same time now paying respect to Ric, Benjamin Orr and The Cars as well.”

AWOLNATION hits the road for The Lightning Riders Tour along with Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness, Beaches and Bleeker in 2020. Tickets are available now.

Coldplay – Everyday Life | Album Review

A video review on Everyday Life, the double album from Coldplay.  This is an experimental and out-of-the-box attempt from Coldplay.  Watch to see how Sunrise and Sunset turn out.

Coldplay achieved worldwide fame with the release of the song “Yellow” in 2000, followed in the same year by their debut album Parachutes, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. The band’s second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), was released to critical acclaim and won many awards, including NME‘s Album of the Year. Their next release, X&Y, the best-selling album worldwide in 2005, received mostly positive reviews, though some critics felt it was inferior to its predecessor. Their fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), the best-selling album worldwide of 2008, was produced by Brian Eno and released to largely positive reviews, earning three Grammy Awards. In October 2011, Coldplay released their fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto, which topped the charts in over 34 countries, was the UK’s best-selling rock album of 2011, and received moderately positive reviews.  Ghost Stories, released in 2014, received mixed reviews and topped several national album charts. The following year the band released their seventh album, A Head Full of Dreams, which reached the top two in most major markets, but received generally mixed reviews. Four years later, in November 2019, they released their eighth album, Everyday Life, which received mainly positive reviews.

Everyday Life is the eighth studio album by British rock band Coldplay, released on 22 November 2019. It is a double album, with the first half titled Sunrise and the other Sunset

Regretting The Past: Staind – 14 Shades Of Grey

More like 14 shades of phoning it in.  AMIRITE?!
(I’m sorry for that.)

Regretting The Past: Staind – 14 Shades Of Grey

Staind is an American rock band formed in 1995. The original lineup consisted of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Aaron Lewis, lead guitarist Mike Mushok, bassist and backing vocalist Johnny April, and drummer Jon Wysocki. The lineup has been stable outside of the 2011 departure of Wysocki, who was replaced by Sal Giancarelli.

14 Shades of Grey is the fourth studio album by American rock band Staind, released on May 20, 2003. The album continues to develop a post-grunge sound seen on the band’s previous album Break the Cycle, though the songs on 14 Shades of Grey have fewer pop hooks, focusing more on frontman Aaron Lewis‘s emotions.  #Staind #RegrettingThePast #Rocked #14ShadesOfGrey #SoFarAway #AaronLewis #AlbumReview

Evanescence Release Cover Of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain”

Transcendent, two-time GRAMMY® Award-winning rock band, Evanescence, has returned with their first new rock recording in eight years, “The Chain (From Gears 5).” Listen HERE. The band recorded their signature-rock version of the Fleetwood Mac classic following lead singer Amy Lee having lent her vocals to the launch trailer for Xbox Game Studios’ Gears 5 for Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam, from the massively popular Gears of War series. The spot aired as part of a multi-million-dollar ad campaign this fall in conjunction with the launch of the game. Watch it HEREGears 5 was Microsoft’s most successful video game launch since Halo 4 in 2012.

“The Chain” is the first release in what is expected to be a very active period for Evanescence. Following their critically acclaimed foray into symphonic music with 2017’s Synthesis album and world tour, the five-piece has reemerged by embracing a heavier sound, albeit with their trademark style that has made Evanescence integral in establishing a global, critical mass in rock, and among the most unique artists of the millennium. The band is currently working on new original music, which will start rolling out in 2020 in advance of their next studio album. Stay tuned for more details to come.

“This cover was so fun to make. We love Fleetwood Mac and wanted to paint a dark and epic picture with our take on ‘The Chain,’” says Amy Lee. “The lyrics make me feel the power of standing together against great forces trying to pull us apart, perhaps even from the inside. I really wanted to drive that home in our version, and even made everyone in the band sing by the end of it! We’re beyond excited to share this with our fans and I’m really looking forward to playing it live.”

At the end of the month, Evanescence will be heading to Mexico City to play Knotfest, followed by an appearance at Download Festival in Tokyo on March 29, 2020. After a short break, the group will be heading out on a massive co-headline tour of Europe and the U.K. with Within Temptation. The new batch of dates kicks off on April 4 in Brussels, Belgium and concludes in Birmingham, U.K. on May 1. Evanescence will also return to the U.S. shortly thereafter for a headline show at The Fillmore in Minneapolis, MN on May 14. Ozzy Osbourne Releases New Song “Straight To Hell”

Ozzy Osbourne Goes “Straight To Hell”
New Song From Forthcoming Album
Ordinary Man

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy®-winning singer and songwriter OZZY OSBOURNE today has released his next track “Straight To Hell.” It marks the second song to be released from his first album in 10 yearsORDINARY MAN, due out on Epic Records in early 2020

Listen to the song here and stay tuned for the release of the official music video.

On the full-on rocker “Straight To Hell,”OZZY takes listeners to the heart of darkness–“Something is missing and you don’t know why”–with Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash along for this devilish ride, delivering scorched-earth riffs.

“Straight To Hell” follows hot on the heels of “Under The Graveyard, which arrived two weeks ago and has garnered more than 2.8M global streams in its first week. Rolling Stone noted “doom and gloom is what makes an OZZY song great, and it’s what make this one a keeper, and NPR wrote, “It sounds like Ozzy and, remarkably, Ozzy’s voice can still tear through your soul.”

Earlier tonight (11/21), OZZY surprised a sold-out audience at the Forum in Los Angeles, when he joined Post Malone and Travis Scott for the first-ever live rendition of their record-breaking collaboration “Take What You Want.” This Sunday (11/24), he reconvenes with Post and Travis at the American Music Awards for the first television performance of the song in what promises to be another unforgettable display.

OZZY wrote and recorded ORDINARY MAN in Los Angeles with producer Andrew Watt on guitars, Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses) on bass and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) on drums.

Palaye Royale Protest Gun Violence with ‘Massacre, The New American Dream’

Palaye RoyaleTake A Stand Against Gun Violence
With Protest Anthem ‘Massacre, The New American Dream’ Watch/Listen Here

Proceeds From Single Sales Will Be Donated To Giffords and March For Our Lives
To Help Tackle The National Gun Violence Epidemic

Indy rockers, Palaye Royale have released their latest single ‘Massacre, The New American Dream’, a protest punk rock anthem taking a stand against the national gun violence epidemic in the US. Literally putting their money where their mouths are, the band will be donating proceeds from the single sales to Giffords and March For Our Lives, two of the largest US organizations committed to fighting gun violence in the US. Fans can purchase the single here and donate directly to Giffords here and March For Our Lives here.

‘Massacre, The New American Dream’ asks the poignant question ‘Why are we so casual ’bout these casualties?’. Speaking on the new song and the sentiments behind ‘Massacre, The New American Dream’ Palaye Royale say:

“This is a protest. In hopes to give this new generation a revolution in the form of an anthem. We are all on the verge of waking up and truly understanding that people should not be afraid of their government, government should be afraid of their people. This is how we feel about the current state of America. We are the new era, United we stand, in search of retribution for those who have been wronged.

We are tired of seeing innocent people being gunned down so unbelievably often and still there is no change. How many more innocent people have to die for change to happen? Government and the news share no sort of resolve or actions of change for these problems. This is why we have chosen to donate proceeds from the single sales to Giffords and March For Our Lives who are on the front line, fighting to tackle the gun violence epidemic our nation currently faces. We encourage our fans to take a look at the incredible work they do and either purchase the single, donate directly or learn how to get involved at Giffords.org and MarchForOurLives.com

We put forth our creative anger to depict the current state of our civilization. Our protest song is titled ‘Massacre, The New American Dream’. It speaks to the fact that there seems to be more kids growing up to become famous for school shootings than famous for anything else in America. “In every Church, School and Synagogue, Virginia to Littleton when will it stop?”. We asked ourselves this question each time we see yet another mass shooting broadcast across our TVs. There is a shadow that looms over this generation, “What is the New American Dream?” To our understanding, “It’s a Massacre” but if we unite and work together, we can be the difference!”

Palaye Royale are
Remington Leith – Vocals
Sebastian Danzig – Guitar
Emerson Barrett – Drums
Daniel Curcio – Bass
Andrew Martin – Guitar

Sum 41 Enters Top 40 Active Rock Chart With “Never There”

“Never There” from Sum 41
Debuts In Top 40
On Active Rock Chart

Sum 41 are celebrating another Top 40 Active Rock Chart add with recent single “Never There.” The emotionally charged ballad was released earlier this Fall to incredible reception from fans and press alike. Dedicated to single parents everywhere, the song is a personal letter from lead singer Deryck Whibley. “Never There” is one of the band’s heaviest songs to date, but in an entirely different way. Fans can watch the music video for “Never There” now at http://smarturl.it/NeverThereVideo.

“I never wanted to write this song, it just kind of poured out of me”, said Whibley. “I tried to fight it at first but there was no stopping it. I could tell I was writing about my dad, who I’ve never met and throughout my life it has always been a subject that I don’t really think about or care about. It has never really bothered me and when I started thinking about why it never bothered me, I realized it was because my mum was so great and I have such a loving relationship with her. She was so strong as a single mother for my whole life that I never needed to think about my dad.”

“Never There”is taken from the band’s most recent release Order In Decline, which dropped in July via Hopeless Records. The album secured the#2 spots on both the Current Rock and Hard Music Album, #3 on both the Alternative and Record Label Independent and #8 on the Top Current Albums charts here in the US. Order In Decline is available to stream and purchase today via Hopeless Records at http://smarturl.it/OrderInDecline.
