Lou Brutus to Release Rock N Roll Memoir This Spring

Radio Legend Lou Brutus To Release First Book This Spring

Sonic WarriorMy Life As A Rock N Roll Reprobate Releases April 14, 2020

Book Features A Foreword By Corey Taylor Of Slipknot

Lou Brutus is a music industry legend and one of the planet’s ultimate music fans. He lives the dream of millions by traveling the earth, attending concerts, and interviewing rock stars. He has spent his life blasting tunes on the radio, becoming the first to play all of your favorite bands and gaining access to literally thousands of music events.

There is no one in the media who has attended more live concerts or conducted more on-site interviews than Lou.

Sonic Warrior: My Life as a Rock N Roll Reprobate (Tales of Sex, Drugs and Vomiting at Inopportune Moments) is a collection of insane-but-true stories from his storied career. Each chapter is a separate tale that careens around his 40+ years of covering concerts, interviewing music’s biggest stars and influencing generations of radio listeners.

Starting with the first show he attended (Black Sabbath at New York City’s Madison Square Garden in December 1976, where he threw up Boone’s Farm Strawberry Wine all over his older sister’s boyfriend) and continuing to the present day (where he doesn’t puke as much).

Stops along the way include Live Aid in Philadelphia (where he threw up on the entire crowd from a helicopter), the Arctic (where he didn’t throw up on anyone but did get in a moshpit with the native Inuit villagers as Metallica performed a song about sodomizing a goat), Live Earth in London (where he chugged ale with Spinal Tap’s “Stonehenge” dwarfs and almost threw up), and the New Jersey Turnpike (where the tour bus he was traveling in ran over a guy, which is much worse than throwing up).

Whether having his life energy drained through the palm of his hand by Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, watching cocaine get snorted off a stripper’s ass in Pantera’s dressing room, or drooling in his own lap after smoking some kind of mutant death weed with Snoop Dogg, Brutus gives a hilariously unvarnished look at the realities of the music industry from his fly-on-the-wall, “I’m just the guy here to interview the band” vantage point.

The book also features a foreword by his friend Corey Taylor, Grammy Award winning singer for Slipknot and Stone Sour, as well as an original illustration for each chapter by artist Alan MacBain.

The book is being published by Rare Bird Books in Los Angeles and is currently available for pre-order from AmazonBarnes & Noble, and RareBirdBooks.com.

ABOUT LOU BRUTUS:
Lou Brutus is the most influential and respected Rock Radio host of the last quarter century. However, when asked what he does for a living he simply answers, “I’m a professional music fan.” Lou has attended over three thousand music events around the world and interviewed a veritable Who’s Who of the recording industry. Brutus has been the first to introduce the world to an incredible array of artists including Slipknot, Disturbed, Godsmack, Avenged Sevenfold, Sevendust and countless others. He is also an accomplished photographer and sings in a couple of crazy bands — one of which has gotten him death threats. If he sells enough copies of this book, he will buy a KISS pinball machine.

Brutus lives outside Washington, DC with his family, including Darla the Wonder Dog, subsisting on a diet of black coffee, rock ‘n’ roll, and tinnitus.

Notes On A Conditional Form is the follow-up to 2018’s A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, the Manchester-based quartet’s third consecutive album to top The Official U.K. Albums chart. In the States, it claimed the No. 1 position on the Top Album Sales, Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts. The single “Give Yourself A Try” has received a GRAMMY® nomination for Best Rock Song. The 1975 took honors for best British Group and British Album of the Year at the 2019 BRIT Awards and received two Ivor Novello awards – Songwriters Of The Year and Best Contemporary Song (“Love It If We Made It”).

After being named one of the best songs of 2018 by critics at The New York Times, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Vulture and NPR, “Love It If We Made It” also appeared on the Best Songs of the 2010s recaps. A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships and the band’s second studio album, I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it, were included on Pitchfork’s 200 Best Albums of the 2010s list.

VOLBEAT Announce US Dates On “Rewind, Replay, Rebound World Tour”

Multi-platinum Danish rock band Volbeat confirm 15 U.S. headlining dates on their  “Rewind, Replay, Rebound World Tour” this April and May, bringing the tour to cities including Las Vegas, Nashville, Atlanta, Baltimore, and New York City (full dates below).

Special guests Clutch will be direct support on all dates, with the exception of the May 2nd Hershey, PA show which will feature direct support from Gojira. The Picturebooks will open each night on this tour. Ticket pre-sales begin Tuesday, January 14th and general on-sales begin Friday, January 17 at 10am local time here.

A limited number of VIP packages will also be available for purchase and include meet & greet and photo opps, exclusive merch items and priority check in with early entry to the show and early access to merch.

The band has previously announced European festival and headline appearances coming in June and July, following their sold-out 2019 European run. Tickets and more information about these dates are available here.

“We can’t wait to get back to the States and bring a full, headline-length Volbeat show to our U.S. fans,” said the band, “and we’re beyond ecstatic to have our great friends in Clutch and our new friends in The Picturebooks joining us for the ride. We will see you very, very soon!”

Additionally, the band will be headlining 98 KUPD’s UFEST 2020 April 4th at Big Surf in Tempe, AZ and will appear at FM99 WNOR’s Lunatic Luau alongside Disturbed on May 1st at Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater in Virginia Beach. Tickets for both shows go on sale on Friday, January 17. Check volbeat.dk for details.

Volbeat recently debuted their new music video for “Die To Live (feat. Neil Fallon)” directed by Adam Rothlein at Ghost Atomic Pictures and taped at Futura Studio in Roslindale, MA. The song and video both feature appearances by Clutch’s Neil Fallon, as well as Raynier Jacob Jacildo and Doug Corcoran of JD McPherson’s band. Watch the music video for “Die To Live (feat. Neil Fallon)” here.

The band’s seventh studio album Rewind, Replay, Reboundis out now. For the album, Volbeat— Michael Poulsen (guitars/vocals), Rob Caggiano (guitars), Kaspar Boye Larsen (bass), and Jon Larsen (drums) —build upon the distinct, psychobilly, punk-tinged rock ‘n’ roll sound they are known for, while reaching for new creative summits. “The whole point for us going into the studio, is because you still have something to prove — not just for the fans, but mostly for yourself,” says Poulsen. “We would not be able to do this record if it wasn’t for the work we have done in the past. No matter how old the band gets or how many records we do, there is always going to be that signature sound.” Rewind, Replay, Rebound is available on all formats here, including a 2 CD deluxe edition, a special deluxe edition box set, and transparent and blue colored vinyl, numbered and limited to 1,000 copies each.

Rewind, Replay, Rebound was produced by long-time collaborator Jacob Hansen and co-produced by Rob Caggiano and Michael Poulsen. This marks the first studio album with Kaspar Boye Larsen on bass. To achieve the album’s sound the band also drew upon a myriad of guests including backing vocalist Mia Maja and the Harlem Gospel Choir, who both return after appearing on 2016’s Seal The Deal & Let’s Boogie. Ultimately, Volbeat have not lost their passion to create and progress. It’s that which keeps them hungry — and musically honest on the new album.

Pearl Jam Announces New Album & Spring Tour

Pearl Jam will release their much-anticipated eleventh studio album, Gigaton, on Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records on March 27, 2020 in the US. Internationally, the album will be released and distributed by Universal Music Group. Produced by Josh Evans and Pearl Jam, Gigaton marks the band’s first studio album since GRAMMY award-winning Lightning Bolt, which was released on October 15, 2013.

Gigatonis available for pre-order now at www.pearljam.com. The first single, “Dance of the Clairvoyants”, will be released in the coming weeks.

“Making this record was a long journey,” explains Mike McCready. “It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental road map to musical redemption. Collaborating with my bandmates on Gigaton ultimately gave me greater love, awareness and knowledge of the need for human connection in these times.”

Gigaton’s cover features Canadian photographer, filmmaker, and marine biologist Paul Nicklen’s photo “Ice Waterfall.” Taken in Svalbard, Norway, this image features the Nordaustlandet ice cap gushing high volumes of meltwater.

In support of Gigaton, Pearl Jam will embark on their first leg of North American tour dates in March and April. The 16-date tour kicks-off on March 18 in Toronto and wraps with a two-date stint in Oakland April 18-19. Full tour dates follow.

Pearl Jam’s North American tour is in addition to the band’s previously announced European summer tour. Full details at: pearljam.com/tour

The Darkness Kicks Off North American Easter Is Cancelled Tour

THE DARKNESS Kicks Off
North American Leg of
Easter Is Cancelled Tour on April 13th

Multi-platinum selling UK rock band THE DARKNESS – frontman Justin Hawkins, guitarist Dan Hawkins, bassist Frankie Poullain and drummer Rufus Taylor – released Easter Is Cancelled, their first ever concept album, in October via Cooking Vinyl. The band will spread their Easter Is Cancelled message across North America on their headlining Easter Is Cancelled Tour kicking off on April 13th in Edmonton, Alberta at Union Hall and wrapping on May 23rd in Chicago at Park West. The Darkness will play Easter Is Cancelled in full, followed by a set of their greatest hits and fan favorites. The shows promise to reflect the grand scope and vision of the new album alongside the band’s spectacular canon. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 17th at 10am local times HERE

Justin Hawkins shares, “North America! We come to you again, humble in our mission but resolute in our purpose. Join with us in the benediction of ROCK, as we bring our Easter is Cancelled World Tour to your spume-flecked shores. We cancelled Easter and now we are going to cancel your souls – let’s reboot together in the epiphany that only 150% pure adrenalin can bring. You are me, I am you, and music is the river that will carry us to our destiny. P.S. concert tickets available at extremely reasonable prices from all usual outlets.”

Easter Is Cancelled became The Darkness’ fourth Top 10 Album in the UK, it topped the iTunes Rock Chart, debuted at #4 on the Billboard Current Hard Rock chart and #39 on the Billboard Top Current Albums chart, and has garnered wide critical acclaim. Kerrang! declares, “For those who like their rock adventurous, Easter may be cancelled, but Christmas has come early.” Classic Rock Magazine raves, “Every track here is whip-smart and shout-it-out hooky.“ The Telegraph calls it “A record of ballsy energetic rock,” Clash Magazine gushes it’s “A lavish, complex, ambitious record,” and The Music announces, “Easter Is Cancelled is a high energy salute to everything rock.” Metal Insider effuses, “From first listen, you’re hoisted into sing-along power pop melodies and foot-stomping rock riffs that easily suck you in. You can feel these songs in your soul and they feel good.” Smells Like Infinite Sadness praises, “Rock and Roll will never die as long as The Darkness are standing. They are the heroes we need, yet don’t deserve. Easter is Cancelled is a welcome reminder of their peerless musical powers.”

Easter Is Cancelled is a mini-rock opera examining the role of the musician in the barbarous culture of the world today. At the core of the tale is love, loss and heartbreak, where redemption is ultimately found in the brotherhood of band friendship and the power of the guitar. The album boasts new single and the video for “In Another Life” that portrays Justin Hawkins banished to hell only to be redeemed by the power of rock pulsating through his guardian angel bandmates and a beautiful archangel. “Rock And Roll Deserves To Die” sees the band hailing the death of rock and roll in an epic five-minute masterpiece featuring monumental riffs, thunderous bass and almighty drums, “Heart Explodes” is a rock aria that finds The Darkness baring all in a multitude of emotions reflecting the hardships, struggles and changing relationships of life. “How Can I Lose Your Love” is a huge rock anthem steeped in emotion, featuring space-age synths, a gigantic chorus with beautiful hands-in-the-air moments, and almighty guitar solos, while title track “Easter Is Cancelled” encapsulates the explosive majesty of the record.
