From Google Bard: “Slipknot is an American heavy metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995. The band’s current lineup consists of Shawn Crahan (percussion/backing vocals), Corey Taylor (lead vocals), Jim Root (guitar), Mick Thomson (guitar), Craig Jones (sampler/keyboards/guitar), Sid Wilson (turntablism), Alessandro Venturella (bass), and Jay Weinberg (drums).
Slipknot was founded by percussionist Shawn Crahan and drummer Joey Jordison in 1995. The band’s original lineup also included Anders Colsefni (vocals), Donnie Steele (guitar), Josh Brainard (guitar), Paul Gray (bass), and Craig Jones (sampler/keyboards). The band quickly gained a following in the Des Moines heavy metal scene, and they released their self-titled debut album in 1999. The album was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to launch Slipknot into the mainstream.
Slipknot’s second album, Iowa, was released in 2001. The album was even more aggressive and experimental than their debut, and it further cemented Slipknot’s reputation as one of the most extreme bands in the world. Slipknot released their third album, Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses), in 2004. The album was a more accessible and melodic than their previous two albums, but it still retained the band’s signature heaviness.”
