If there’s one musician that Michael Poulsen loves, it’s Johnny Cash. He addressed the massive Knotfest Roadshow crowd with his admiration toward’s Cash as Volbeat used “Ring Of Fire” to lead into their own song “Sad Man’s Tongue”.
Two weeks ago, Volbeat released their seventh studio album Rewind, Replay, Rebound. On an extremely hot August day, hearing the band perform “Last Day Under The Sun” from the new album definitely made it feel like a summer song.
Volbeat was a good breath of fresh air at the Roadshow. Between the thundering Gojira and the always crushing Slipknot, Denmark’s rockabilly band was able to add some groove and dance to the night in the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater. It was a sweaty dance party in the St. Louis heat, but a great dance party nonetheless.
