Spiritworld – Helldorado | Album Review

_

The tale of demons in the wild west returns, this time with vendettas, screaming, and riffs. I came into Helldorado, expecting something similar to DeathWestern in terms of intensity and volume. At times you definitely get that, but at other times the music gets more calm and sinister, and it helps with what this band of cowboys can do. “Western Stars and the Apocalypse”, “Abeline Grime”, “Oblivion”, those are the barn burners that Spiritworld do best. It’s the slower tracks like “Bird Song of Death” and “Annihilism” that add attempt to add depth. These tracks also still use the change-up format where Spiritworld excels. Helldorado is a shotgun blast when it needs to be, and at other times it’s a sunset fence walk. Both of which contribute to a fun ride. 7/10

“SpiritWorld, the Las Vegas-based metal outfit, is blazing a new trail with their latest album, Helldorado. This third full-length release continues the band’s unique fusion of thrash, hardcore, and country-western elements, creating a cinematic and punishing sound that expands their apocalyptic Western horror narrative. Following the critically acclaimed Deathwestern, Helldorado escalates the intensity with tracks like “Abilene Grime” and “Western Stars & The Apocalypse,” showcasing the band’s ability to blend Slayer-esque thrash riffs with cowboy crooner aesthetics. With Helldorado, SpiritWorld solidifies their position as a force in the metal and hardcore scene, offering fans a visceral concept album that is both chaotic and cinematic.”
