News broke over the weekend that Slipknot’s latest album We Are Not Your Kind had reached #1 on the Billboard 200 Chart. In light of this news, it was a night of celebration for metal in St. Louis. A packed Hollywood Casino Amphitheater cut loose as a high production stage filled with masked men performed for over an hour.
Knotfest Roadshow was a spectacle, topped off with an amazing set of drum pounding and screaming. Corey Taylor had the ability to incite a riot if he wanted to, but instead had everyone in unison while singing hits from years ago as well as new music from We Are Not Your Kind. At his command, Taylor had a crowd of thousands singing along.
Jim Root’s appearance underneath Clown’s platform was just one amazing visual while hearing “Unsainted”. The crowds’ chant during “Custer” no doubt startled any passing traffic outside the venue (but in a good way). This was not just a concert, it was an interactive experience with plenty to see and hear.
I’ve been to many concerts and seen dozen’s of bands at festivals perform live so far in 2019. Knotfest Roadshow was by far one of the best concerts I’ve attended. The audience was packed all the way through the lawn to the back fence and a huge chunk of St. Louis got to see something special. Here’s hoping Slipknot will make a return to St. Louis soon.
The identity of Tortilla Man is still currently unknown.
