NOTHING MORE Announce Graphic Novel “SPIRITS”

Three-time Grammy-nominated rock outfit NOTHING MORE have released an extended version of their current Top 10 Billboard Active Rock charting hit single “TIRED OF WINNING” (#8) due to popular demand. The extended version “TIRED OF WINNING / SHIPS IN THE NIGHT” is out today, July 29, across digital platforms HERE.  The extended track is taken from their upcoming album SPIRITS due October 14 via Better Noise Music andwas first revealed in the group’s sci-fi oriented music video (seen here) released in April. It garnered immediate attention from fans requesting the extended version also be released digitally. “TIRED OF WINNING / SHIPS IN THE NIGHT” will also be featured on the official soundtrack for the upcoming Better Noise Films horror-thriller movie THE RETALIATORSin cinemas worldwide on September 14THE RETALIATORS – OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK will be released via Better Noise Music on September 16 and includes tracks from labelmates including Motley CrueTommy LeePapa RoachFive Finger Death Punch and more.

NOTHING MORE are also excited to share they have partnered with Z2 Comics (The Doors, Machine Gun Kelly, The Grateful Dead) to release their first-ever graphic novel “SPIRITS VOL.1” authored by Dan Watters (Cowboy Bebop, Arkham City: The Order of The World) and illustrated by Christian Rosado. The graphic novel will be released in Spring 2023 and be available in a standard edition hardcover, a deluxe edition oversized hardcover, a limited deluxe edition oversized hardcover hand-signed by band (999 copies total) and a special tour-only softcover only available for purchase in-person at NOTHING MORE shows or directly via their website.

The band recently unveiled their own meta-personality test, “SPIRITS TEST,” developed by frontman JONNY HAWKINS, which features 25 psychometric questions then determines your “SPIRIT TYPE.” Each SPIRIT TYPE has its own character and personality descriptions which are further explored in the upcoming graphic novel. Deluxe edition bundles for “SPIRITS VOL. 1” will highlight the SPIRIT TYPES with bundles including SPIRITS art prints, cards, an Eight-Sided Nothing More Spirits Octahedron, SPIRITS enamel pin, an exclusive color variant SPIRITS vinyl and more.

HAWKINS explains more on the “SPIRITS TEST” and “SPIRIT TYPES”:
“The comic book focuses on four of the Spirit Types. As we were making the album, I came up with the concept for the Spirits Test. Imagine if the zodiac had a baby with the Meyers Briggs personality test, and that baby came out with a fascination with cryptic iconography and metal music… that is this test. Each of us has a Spirit Type and this comic book is an artistic expression of how those Spirit Types come to life in a world very much like our own.

Guitarist MARK VOLLELUNGA shares how the idea for a graphic novel developed:
“I set forth on this collaboration with Z2 comics, and our manager, Will Hoffman, with the idea to expand the NOTHING MORE world and allow the reader to dive deeper down the rabbit hole and elaborate on what these Spirit Types mean; where they came from and why they exist. We wanted to write stories that invoke a compelling sense of empathy and wonder while maintaining a very personal connection to NOTHING MORE songs. Dan Watters was the perfect dude for the job. He’s such a brilliant, captivating writer. Both of us shared inspiration from shows like The OA and Sense 8 and we wanted to accentuate the differences all people have when something in your life wrecks you… and that even though these differences may seem polarizing, we all still need each other.  It’s because of these differences that you learn to survive and grow. This story shows that great strength and mutual respect come to those who learn how to embrace one another despite such differences.”

LAMB OF GOD Share Single + Video “Omens”

Watch and listen to “Omens,” the title track from LAMB OF GOD’s forthcoming 9th album. The new single from the GRAMMY-nominated metal colossus is available everywhere for download and streaming.

“I think a lot of the messes human beings find ourselves in could be very easily prevented simply by paying attention to obvious repeating patterns, both in our personal lives and in a broader sociohistorical context,” says LAMB OF GOD front man D. Randall Blythe. “What some call ‘omens’ are really just manifestations of the fact that there is nothing new under the sun. It’s foolish to ignore this, but we all do it.”

Get “Omens” at all DSPs HERE and watch the official music video HERE.

The gargantuan “Omens” follows the album’s first single, “Nevermore,” which collected more than 1 million views on YouTube and over 1 million streams on Spotify shortly after its release just last month.

The hard rock and metal press described “Nevermore” as “crushing” (Metal Injection), “like a nail bomb” (Revolver), and “a thundering taste of what’s to come” from the band’s new album (Kerrang!).

The Omens album arrives on October 7th, 2022, on Epic Records.

Album preorders are live, and tickets are on sale for The Omens Tour, featuring Lamb Of God and special guests Killswitch Engage, Motionless In White, Spiritbox, Baroness, Animals As Leaders, Suicide Silence, and Fit For An Autopsy join on different legs. The tour kicks off on September 9th in Brooklyn, New York.

Omens follows 2020’s self-titled No. 1 Hard Rock Album, saluted by the likes of Rolling Stone and NMEOmens is perhaps their angriest album yet. Produced by longtime collaborator Josh Wilbur (Korn, Megadeth), Omens is a vicious new testament for the Richmond, Virginia-based band, a furious entry in their beloved catalog. “The world is crazy and keeps changing. Omens is a reaction to the state of the world,” Blythe explains. “It’s a very pissed-off record.” He pauses for emphasis. “It is extremely pissed-off.”

The New Wave Of American Heavy Metal architects tracked Omens at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles, California, a location that birthed classics from The Doors, The Ramones, and Soundgarden, among others. “The inner workings of the band have never been better,” explains guitarist Mark Morton. “You can hear it in Omens. You can see it in our performances, and if you’re around us for five minutes, you can feel it.”

The Omens album pre-order is live now at Lamb-Of-God.com, boasting special bundles and several exclusive items, including colored vinyl, shirts, hoodies, box sets, and CDs with an alternate color cover.

Bush Returns With New Album ‘The Art Of Survival’

After hinting at this chapter, iconic GRAMMY® Award-nominated rock band BUSH return with their long-awaited ninth full-length album, The Art of Survival, scheduled for release October 7, 2022 via BMGThe Art of Survival marks the group’s first new release since their critically acclaimed 2020 LP, The Kingdom (BMG). Pre-order/pre-save The Art of Survival HERE.

To herald the album’s arrival, the group unveils a hard-hitting and hypnotic new single entitled “More Than Machines” today.

On the track, a grinding riff grates up against glitchy production as singer and guitarist Gavin Rossdale assures, “Girls you in control, not the government. Between finger-snaps and guttural distortion, a soaring hook takes hold, “We are more than machines.

Stay tuned for the premiere of a cinematic music video to accompany the track soon.

Regarding “More Than Machines,” Rossdale states, “This is an action-packed song with three really big topics. Off the bat, I don’t understand how anyone has the audacity to get involved or assume responsibility for women’s bodies. I wanted to reference that because it’s important to discuss. As much as the song is about the destruction of women’s rights, it’s about the destruction of the planet and the move for A.I. and a world of robots to replace us. It’s a topic we’ve heard since the fifties. I’m not here to teach anything though; my job is medieval like a town crier. I come into town with my elixirs and sing about it, so it hopefully goes out into the universe.”

Forging ahead once more, BUSH wrote and recorded what would become The Art of Survival during 2022, reteaming with Erik Ron [Panic! At The Disco, Godsmack] who produced “Flowers On A Grave” and the title track for the group’s previous album, The Kingdom (2020), and collaborating once again on two tracks with film composer, musician, and producer Tyler Bates [300Guardian of the Galaxy]. The central theme speaks to both the human spirit’s resiliency in the face of trials and tribulations as well as the band’s own enduring place as rock outliers.

Rossdale adds, “Instead of being mournful or self-piteous, this is about the success stories of humanity’s survival against the odds. People just find a way to push through. We’ve all obviously suffered in varying degrees. I think the nature of life is the art of survival. Everyone is being tested all of the time, but we find a way. In recent memory, we’ve made major strides and shown great resilience in the face of war, endless instances of racism, gender politics, a pandemic, and a melting pot of what we’ve experienced. For me, The Art of Survival encompasses all of this.”

THE ART OF SURVIVAL TRACKLISTING:

Heavy Is The Ocean
Slow Me
More Than Machines
May Your Love Be Pure
Shark Bite
Human Sand
Kiss Me I’m Dead
Identity
Creatures of the Fire
Judas Is A Riot
Gunfight
1000 Years

Last weekend, BUSH gave fans a special performance of the new song at the sold out Atlantis Concert for Earth Festival in the Azores Islands, Portugal, which highlights and celebrates global conservation efforts for the planet. The group’s incredible guitar riffs mixed with Rossdale vocals emphasizing the lyrics, created an impactful set that made the crowd go wild

Hitting the road on one of the hottest rock tours of the summer, BUSH will join Alice In Chains and Breaking Benjamin for a massive North American jaunt, rolling through amphitheaters and sheds coast-to-coast for eight weeks. Metalcore is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Vocalists in the genre typically use thrash or scream vocals. Some later metalcore bands combine this with clean singing, often during the chorus. Death growls and gang vocals are common. 1990s metalcore bands were inspired by hardcore while later metalcore bands were inspired by melodic death metal bands like At the Gates and In Flames.

Converge is an American hardcore punk band formed by vocalist Jacob Bannon and guitarist Kurt Ballou in Salem, Massachusetts in 1990.

Killswitch Engage is an American metalcore band from Westfield, Massachusetts, formed in 1999 after the disbanding of Overcast and Aftershock.

Trivium is an American heavy metal band from Orlando, Florida, formed in 1999.

Underoath is an American rock band from Tampa, Florida.

Parkway Drive are an Australian metalcore band from Byron Bay, New South Wales, formed in 2003.

Bring Me the Horizon (often abbreviated as BMTH) are a British rock band formed in Sheffield in 2004.

Architects are a British metalcore band from BrightonEast Sussex, formed in 2004 by twin brothers Dan and Tom Searle.

Ice Nine Kills (sometimes stylized in all capital letters or abbreviated to INK, and formerly known as Ice Nine) is an American heavy metal band from BostonMassachusetts who are signed to Fearless Records.

Loathe are an English heavy metal band from Liverpool.Spiritbox is a Canadian heavy metal band from Victoria, British Columbia.

Inkcarceration 2022 Wraps Up A Memorable Weekend With 75,000 Fans

Closing out its most successful year to date, the sold-out 2022 edition of the Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival, co-produced by Danny Wimmer Presents, welcomed 75,000 fans for three days of performances from 60 bands on multiple stages as well as appearances by more than 60 tattoo artists.

The three-day weekend, July 15-17, was held at the historic Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield (the site made famous in The Shawshank Redemption). Rob Zombie and Mudvayne Bring Out Freaks On Parade

Freaks On Parade. There has never been a more aptly named tour than Rob Zombie and Mudvayne have brought out for 2022. Starting in St. Louis, MO, this tour kicked off in brutal heat to show how much people will stick it out to see the freak show.

At a deeper look, this tour glorified what hard rock and nu-metal had to offer in the late 90s and early 2000s. Featuring Static-X and Powerman 5000, this tour felt like a celebration for this style of music 20 years ago. People were singing along to songs from Tonight, The Stars Revolt and Wisconsin Death Trip. Fans were ecstatic for the return of Mudvayne after more than a decade away. Everyone was surprised by the new stage antics of Rob Zombie including a high zombie podium to start the show.

The heat got up to roughly 99 degrees in St. Louis. On a nasty Summer Wednesday in the middle of July, people packed the amphitheater to the lawn and back fencing just for this tour. There are many massive tours now starting or going through the gateway to the west because finally, the industry is realizing there is a good audience here. It took a while, but St. Louis is becoming a music city again.

Pale Waves Release New Track “The Hard Way”

As they head into the final stretch of their U.S. tour opening for 5 Seconds of Summer, indie darlings Pale Waves have released their newest track “The Hard Way” from their upcoming album Unwanted, out August 12 via Dirty Hit. PRESS HERE to listen to the soul-stirring track which serves as a reminder to be kind and encourages people to stand up for those in need. Biting down with a determination that forbids history to repeat itself, “The Hard Way” reflects on Heather’s wish that her childhood self had done more for a girl who ended up taking her own life after being bullied at school.

“When I was in high school a girl who was being bullied took her own life,” shares Heather on the inspiration for the song. “I got on the bus with her every single morning and I would see her sitting in her same spot. She sat downstairs, and I would go upstairs. ‘The Hard Way’ is about my regret for not helping her, or standing up for her, that I feel now as an adult.

“As a kid you’re so shy and afraid, but I hope it’ll influence people to stand up for those who need help, and help people understand that their words and actions can be really damaging. You don’t know how cruel you can be sometimes, especially at that age.”

The Hard Way” follows the release of new single “Jealousy,” an amped-up anthem that explores a darker shade of love and jealousy as something that proves devotion while effortlessly showcasing the band’s chic and stylized approach to alternative rock. The album also features recently released track “Reasons To Live,” a euphoric burst of energy premiered by Zane Lowe about finding someone who keep going, and lead single “Lies” – an angst-fueled, rebellious pop-punk anthem that pairs the crunchy guitars and rhythmic drive of 2000s with the rage of a 90s rock band to speak to lies catching up with someone who has shattered your trust.

Building on Pale Waves’ previous album Who Am I?, which saw Heather becoming more personal in her songwriting to open up about her journey of self-discovery and falling in love, Unwanted draws strength from not fitting the mold and takes a step further, marking new territory for Pale Waves as they explore loss, vanity, anger, jealousy and hopelessness with crunchy guitars, classic pop-punk rhythmic drive, and the rage of a 90s rock band. Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Zakk Cervini (Blink-182HalseyMachine Gun Kelly), Unwanted introduces 13 tracks of classic pop punk with an edge to tap into darker emotions than ever before while also striking a fresh tone of defiance and reaching out into the passionate community of self-described misfits and LGBTQIA+ fans around the band. PRESS HERE to pre-order Unwanted.

“The album dives into feelings that I felt not only needed to be written but I felt like our fans want to hear,” continues Heather on the themes that inspired Unwanted. “Almost everyone has felt like they don’t belong, or has been made to feel like they’re not good enough. That’s a consistent theme that I’m seeing from our fans – that their family doesn’t approve of them, or their friends have disowned them because they’ve come out. So Unwanted had to be honest, provocative and loud. Not only thematically, but in the music as well.”

Currently touring as the official opener on 5 Seconds of Summer’s nationwide U.S. amphitheater tour, Pale Waves will also be playing a string of select headline shows before taking the stage for huge international festival datesPRESS HERE for tickets.

Trivium Announce Fall 2022 North American Headline Tour

Grammy-nominated band TRIVIUM — Matt Heafy [vocals, guitar], Corey Beaulieu [guitar], Paolo Gregoletto [bass], and Alex Bent [drums] — have announced their Fall 2022 tour plans.

The band will embark on the Deadmen and Dragons Tour, a headline run of North America produced by Live Nation, with support from Between the Buried and MeWhitechapel, and Khemmis

Tickets go on sale on Friday, July 22 at 10am local time. Get tickets here

To herald the news, there is a special live Twitch press conference happening now and hosted by Nik Nocturnal on his channel — featuring a guided chat with members from each band.

Trivium are very excited about the tour package they’ve put together for the fans — as they are passionate fans of each of their tourmates!

“Between the Buried and Me are the pioneers of mixing genres well before anyone else had,” says Heafy. “BTBAM back in 2002 — on the impeccable self-titled album — showed that they were unapologetically ready to mix elements of death metal, melodic death metal, grindcore, power metal, prog, ethereal — at times beautiful — passages of melody. Their self-titled record was a massive influence on me; I was captivated by the immense mixture of so many styles. Through their combining of a vast range of sonics and soundscapes, they created a sound that is truly their own.”

Beaulieu also exclaims, “We’re excited to have Whitechapel be a part of this amazing bill. It’s been over 10 years since we toured together on the Shogun tour and seeing how the band has progressed over the years and added a killer melodic element to their brutal sound just makes it a perfect time to share the stage once again.”

“Khemmis is one of my favorite new bands of the last few years, and when we were putting the tour together, I heavily advocated for having them on the bill,” says Gregoletto. “I think it’s always a testament to a band’s sound when you have trouble pinning a label to it — doom, melodic metal, thrash, death metal. With Khemmis, it’s all in there and rocks hard. They are a 10/10 live band and did a great cover of ‘Rainbow in the Dark,’ so do not miss their set!”

Trivium will also return to the road in September, serving as main support for Iron Maiden. Those dates are here.
