Puscifer continue their series of album-by-album remix collections, releasing Existential Reckoning: Re-Wired on March 31 via Puscifer Entertainment/Alchemy Recordings/BMG.

A video for “A Singularity (Re-Imagined by Carina Round),” shot and edited by Maynard James Keenan, was released this morning. The clip echoes the song’s sentiment, with the heart-wrenching track offered as a memoriam to Keenan’s beloved, and well known dog, MiHo. He says: “On Oct. 7, 2021, I lost my Muse. Deadly Little MiHo lost her 2 year battle with pancreatitis and kidney disease. We thought we lost her in late 2019, so I panicked and wrote her this song. We were certain she was done for. But we were blessed with a second chance and a bit more time. I rarely share things like this. Too painful. But this one can’t be kept bottled up. As I have mentioned before, she has been hiding in most of my vocal tracks since 2005. She was either in or near the vocal booth every time I tracked. Her sigh, her bark, sniffle, sneeze. Her jingling collar. Her squeaky toys. Usually poorly timed. Round explains her approach to re-working the song: “Maynard’s vocal for this song is synonymously a sorrowful hymn and a siren of celebration. I wanted the main vocal and the bass and drums to be anchors in a sea of jubilant chaos. A kind of controlled cacophony of celebratory joy. Familiar, but a bit unnerving. The horns and saxes at the end are all moving together but somehow so loose, dispersing off into foam and then coming back together into one harmonious wave and then breaking off again, cascading. I feel excited when it’s over and like I want to get back on the ride. Birds, a charm of finches bookend the song. You can feel their energy. And within, there’s Maynard’s lone whistle, mimicking them. The one who keeps them alive and in turn draws his own life force. The synergy of composure and chaos in a dance reverence.”

The band has simultaneously announced their first European tour in seven years, with performances slated for Hellfest, Nos Alive and Mad Cool festivals, as well as a round of headlining performances. A brief U.S. trek precedes the European outing. Tickets for all headlining shows (Europe and U.S.) are on on-sale Friday, Jan. 20 at 10 am local time. Night Club opens on all headlining dates. Ticketing links can be found via Puscifer.com.

Existential Reckoning: Re-Wired offers a track-for-track re-imagining of the 12 songs from Existential Reckoning. Puscifer band members Mitchell and Round, along with current touring musicians Greg Edwards (Failure, Autolux) and Gunnar Olsen reinterpret tracks from the prophetic, electro-laced record. The Academy Award-winning team of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross tackle “Apocalyptical” (Reznor has a co-writing credit with Maynard James Keenan and Mitchell on Puscifer’s 2009 song, “Potions”), Phantogram revamp “Postulous,” Drummer Sarah Jones and Bring Me The Horizon’s Jordan Fish tackle “”Theorem,” Queens of The Stone Age (and sometimes A Perfect Circle/Failure) guitar player Troy Van Leeuwen partners with his Gone is Gone bandmate, Tony Hajjar for “Grey Area,” while Tool’s Justin Chancellor and The Crystal Method’s Scott Kirkland join forces for “UPGrade.” Additional contributors include Juliette Commagere, who first appeared on Puscifer’s 2011 album Conditions of My Parole, keyboard player Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails), and BBC 1’s Daniel P. Carter.

Existential Reckoning: Re-Wired tracklist:

1.   Bread and Circus (Re-imagined by Mat Mitchell)

Announce Three Very Special US Release Shows in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York

Enter Shikari are today announcing that their highly anticipated new album, A Kiss For The Whole World, will be released on 21st April via SO Recordings / Ambush Reality. The band are also sharing the album’s lead single ‘(pls) set me on fire’ as well as news of some very special monthly residency shows in the UK this Spring. Listen to ‘(pls) set me on fire’ here and pre-order A Kiss For The Whole World here

Limited formats of the new album come packaged with the Live From Alexandra Palace 3 album & DVD, recorded live in December 2021 at the band’s sold out 10,000 capacity London show.

As the calendar now signals three years since Enter Shikari last released an album – their UK #2 charting album Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible – it is useful to think back to the final question the band last posed fans: “Is this a new beginning? / Or are we close to the end?” Little could they know just how close to the end things would end up feeling as the events of the early ‘20s dimmed the light in the furnace of their live juggernaut, and connection to their fans. “At the time it felt like we ourselves, as musicians, were experiencing the death of our band,” says lead vocalist and keyboardist Rou Reynolds.

Unsurprisingly, the key in the band’s ignition came in the form of a live show as they headlined the Download Festival Pilot in front of 10,000 fans. Where not a single new word flowed from the pen of Reynolds in the two years prior, a realisation was born that would come to define the band’s seventh LP: “I just didn’t realise that the human and physical connection to other people were so central to how I write,” he says. Enter Shikari isn’t just four people – it’s hundreds of thousands.

As new single ‘(pls) set me on fire’ heralds the next stage in the band’s evolution, the first words we hear from Enter Shikari 2.0 don’t come in the form of a question this time, but a command: “Please set me on fire”. In other words, ignite the spark inside us and set us free. This may be a new Enter Shikari but they’ve lost nothing in their flair for bold opening gambits.

Reynolds comments on the single’s conception:

“Honestly, I thought I was f*****. I’ve never felt so detached from my soul, my purpose, my f****** spirit. I didn’t write music for almost two years. The longest I’d gone before that was two weeks. I was broken. It’s almost as if my brain had asked: “What is the point in music if it cannot be shared? What is the point in writing music if it’s not to be experienced with others?” and then promptly switched itself off. ‘(pls) set me on fire’ grew out of that desperation. This song is a projectile vomit of positive energy. Every emotion trapped inside me for two years, finally set free.”

It was in the Spring of 2022 that the band descended to the coastal town of Chichester, and a delapidated farmhouse, to rebuild their studio setup and capture their renewed momentum on record. Using only solar power to track the album – in what Reynolds says was to “bring back some sense of naivety” – the life-giving properties and Technicolor palate of A Kiss For The Whole World were made real. Reynolds continues:

“Back to basics. This band – my best friends – bundled into an old farmhouse, miles away from anywhere. Off-grid, and ready to rediscover ourselves. This album is powered by the sun, the most powerful object in our solar system. And I think you can tell. It’s a collection of songs that represent an explosive reconnection with what Enter Shikari is. The beginning of our second act”.

CRADLE OF FILTH mastermind Dani Filth states:
“Cradle Of Filth are maniacally looking forward to this two-pronged headline assault with fellow noisemongers DevilDriver. Frontman Dez has been a friend for years and a brilliant manager to boot, and to head out on the road for what promises to be the first leg of the ‘Double Trouble Live’ world tour with him and the band was an opportunity far too good to pass on.

We are chomping at the bit to get out on the west coast again after our very successful run supporting Danzig last summer, and this eclectic tour package is so heavy it’s literally going to GRIND faces to a pulp. Which, in this line of work, is a good thing!

So see you guys (and ghouls) out on the road for what promises to be twelve devastating nights of musical mayhem and debauch!

Definitely a killer tour not to be missed!”

DEVILDRIVER founder and frontman Dez Fafara adds:
“I have been a fan of Cradle of Filth since the early 90s, and over the years I’ve not only had the opportunity to become great friends with Dani and the band, whom are all wonderful people, but also to manage their career alongside my wife Anahstasia, who is CEO at Oracle Management.

When presented the opportunity to go out on what is DevilDriver’s first shows in almost three years and co-headline with the mighty Cradle Of Filth on this first run of what is now a world tour, it could not be passed on!

I’m looking forward to not only crushing stages with DevilDriver, but also watching Cradle of Filth nightly on the side of the stage.

Get the fuck ready – this tour will be the one not to miss this year and tickets will go quickly! Get the fuck in the pit – this one will be vicious!”

NOTHING MORE Announce Headlining “SPIRITS 2023” N. American Tour

It will launch March 31 in Richmond, VA with special guests Crown The Empire and Thousand Below before NOTHING MORE split off for two solo headlining shows (May 6 in Phoenix, AZ and May 26 in Bloomington, IL), followed by a stop at Sonic Temple Festival in Columbus, OH on May 28. “For the last 17 years, To Write Love on Her Arms has been finding ways to use live music as a means to connect people to local and affordable options for mental health care,” relays TWLOHA’s Director of Outreach Chad Moses. “In that time, we’ve been fortunate enough to see some of the very best examples where conversations of mental health have been expressed and received from the stage and in the crowds. We’ve not done this work alone—rather these conversations have been cultivated through active relationships with countless fans, music industry professionals, and artists. Within those ranks, Nothing More has proven to be among the most consistent and loyal friends to the organization, and that friendship grew in large part due to how they craft their art. When the band performs a song about mental health—or about hope, or about pain—they aren’t treating the stage as a pulpit but instead as an invitation. What they have to say or sing finds its true value in how it is received by the listeners and how those fans choose to live out the next chapters. Simply put, Nothing More is what it looks and sounds like to feel a little less alone, and is proof that our deepest questions and challenges can be fertile ground for building community.”

NOTHING MORE’s 2022 album SPIRITS via Better Noise Music was inspired by the philosophy of Alan Watts and Carl Jung and an introspective look at the results on one’s psyche after being isolated due to the pandemic. The album was accompanied by a meta- personality “SPIRITS TEST” designed by frontman Jonny Hawkins—similar to tests such as Myers-Briggs, Big 5 and the Zodiac—which results in finding out one’s “Spirit Type,” one of seven personality characters based on the test’s results. Each “Spirit Type” is paired to a track on SPIRITS which the band have further highlighted with lyric video visualizers showcasing the artwork for the associated “Spirit Type.” Last week NOTHING MORE unveiled the visualizer for “DREAM WITH ME,” and they will next reveal the visualizer for “VALHALLA” with a YouTube video premiere and Instagram live Q&A this Thursday, January 12. Set a reminder for “VALHALLA” lyric video premiere here: https://youtu.be/pDCvfo-HUaA.

NOTHING MORE will further develop the story of these “Spirit Types” in their upcoming graphic novel “SPIRITS VOL.1” due this Spring via Z2 Comics. Pre-order a copy HERE.

Anti-Flag Share “SOLD EVERYTHING” Video

Incendiary Pittsburgh punk rockers ANTI-FLAG have released their 13th album Lies They Tell Our Children today, January 6, via Spinefarm. Get it here.

To celebrate the release, the band will be featured on the upcoming cover of New Noise. The issue includes a flexi-disc featuring the band’s take on the Dead Milkmen classic “Punk Rock Girl.” Get it here.

Additionally, the band has shared the video for “SOLD EVERYTHING.” Watch it here.

The video was directed by INDECLINE, who impressively shot SEVEN videos for the album tracks.

Take a deep dive into the track by reading this document.

2023 is an incredibly important year for Anti-Flag, as it marks three decades of profound punk rock.

“2023 — 30 years of Anti-Flag. If we’re being completely honest, this milemarker of longevity is both unbelievable to us and at the same time not a shock at all.

“The four of us have committed our lives to these songs, shows, and records. We have placed precedence on this work and believe it to be intrinsically tied to our value as people on this planet. If you would have asked the kids who started this band if we would still be Anti-Flag 30 years later, we would have probably thought we wouldn’t make it this long. But we would have collectively resounded that as long as we’re alive, we would be making music with the goal of unifying people and communities, positioning empathy over apathy, and using everything at our disposal to be agitators and disruptors of status quo, exploitative, capitalist politics.”

LIES THEY TELL OUR CHILDREN represents a band that is still working on its craft, and we challenged ourselves to be better songwriters, leaving familiarity and comfort zones. Perhaps it’s too ambitious to make your 13th full-length album a concept record, but if we have learned anything through our privileged lenses of longevity, it’s to be true to ourselves. This was our plan. A record that is fulfilling emotionally and spiritually, we basically said ‘Fuck it, this is the record we wanted to make, the people we wanted to collaborate with, the type of song we want to play live and share across the globe.'”

“It’s a shot of optimism and inspiration to carry on, stay the course, created because it’s what we have to do. We hope that people like it, listen to it, stream it, or whatever… but truthfully, we would be doing all of this with or without an audience, it’s all we have known as Anti-Flag for 30 years and we don’t see that changing any time soon.”

Lies They Tell Our Children was recorded, produced, and mixed by Jon Lundin.

Sleep Token Share Two New Songs

Sleep Token

With fans so ravenous in their worship, Sleep Token have gifted them with two new songs to appease their hunger.

As time turned to midnight on January 5, 2023, the emotionally driven “Chokehold“arrived first.

As 24 hours passed, “The Summoning” audaciously followed.

Both tracks boldly explore and develop elements that keep Sleep Token’s music vastly removed from any kind of pack, howling at a moon distinctly their own.

Watch the visual for “Chokehold” here and “The Summoning” here

The band has a 5-date, headline UK run ahead of them this month, with several shows at storied venues like the O2 Academy already sold out.

What comes next, only time will tell, but what’s certain is that it won’t be bound by convention.

Anonymous, silent, masked, armed with a staggering vocal range, a deft touch on the keyboards, plus a live approach that is never less than fully engaged; Sleep Token is the unique, broad-based vision of one individual.

Bringing it to Ventura, CA was a no brainer for us. Goth Rockers ORGY Dropping New Single “Empty” on Friday, January 13th

ORGY 2022

ORGY‘s Jay Gordon shares, “I’m really stoked to deliver this track “Empty” which sums up the rigors of both intimate and platonic friendships alike, and how draining they can be to maintain.” The band is excited about a few up & coming dates; The Whisky a Go Go on March 24, 2023 and most notably Live Nation’s “Sick New World” music festival on May 13, 2023. We will be adding a few select dates along the way, in support of the new music we have coming out soon!

ORGY spawned from the late 1990’s Goth music scene with their incredible remake of New Order’s “Blue Monday.” Upon release the track sold over one million copies and has sold more than 2 million copies to date. In late 2005, after the release of Punk Statik Paranoia via D1 Music and Associates, their independent DVD TRANS GLOBAL SPECTACLE via D1 Music / DLC Records, and a promotional tour, the band went on a hiatus to work on their side projects. In 2011, after seven years of demand from fans for new music and a tour, founding member Jay Gordon (vocals) decided it was time to kick things back up and begin recording and touring again in support of ORGY’s fans. Jay, Carlton Bost and Nic Speck have been the ORGY core since 2011.

After several years of releasing singles to the masses, ORGY has proven their long-lasting potency with a refreshed line-up and sound. The modern incarnation of ORGY has been transformed and sees the band poised to re-establish themselves in the EDM, industrial and hard rock scenes. Make no mistake about it, the ORGY brand is not going away anytime soon. As long as the fans demand new music and tours, the band is ready, willing and able to fill their request.

In 2023, ORGY released a video for EMPTY, a track mixed by Eric Racy and mastered by Trevor Case of Case mastering. This newer sound for ORGY has great lyrics, melodies, and guitars.

ORGY played Vampire Freaks Dark Side of the Con in April 2022 and did a short 7 show run in support of the ‘Karma Kastles’ and ‘Shady AF’ singles. They most recently played The Endless Night Vampire Ball in New Orleans, October 29, 2022 to a sold out crowd.

Anti-Flag – Lies They Tell Our Children | Album Review

A punk album with over half the tracks including collaborations with big names like Jesse Leach, Tim McIlrath, and Brian Baker. There are some tracks where you hear biting commentaries such as Modern Meta Medicine and Shallow Graves. What’s odd is there are other songs that almost sound…commercialized like Victory Or Death with the We Gave Em Hell chant. That’s not something I thought I’d ever describe Anti-Flag as either but a few tracks sound like they are fitted for commercial backgrounds. The writing and messages save the album along with fun collaborations. Just enough punch to prove the group has the energy to push forward. 7/10
