Måneskin – Rush! | Album Review

17 tracks over a long recording process from Italy’s Eurovision heroes. This is the group’s attempt at going truly worldwide with mostly singing in English and the music along with the lyrics are…fine. There is a good rhythm section on Rush! and that’s prevalent throughout however many of the 17 tracks sound similar. Some of the song content recycles itself. Drugs, partying, wild lifestyle,…and that’s about it. There’s really not much else to talk about in a 17-track album. Måneskin sings songs about the party, and make their live shows a party,…but this album does not sound like a party. It’s not a rush either. It just exists. 5/10.

Måneskin Rush! Album Review

Måneskin are an Italian rock band formed in Rome in 2016. The band are composed of vocalist Damiano David, bassist Victoria De Angelis, guitarist Thomas Raggi, and drummer Ethan Torchio. Performing in the streets in their early days, they rose to prominence after finishing second in the eleventh season of the Italian talent show X Factor in 2017. Their international breakthrough ensued when the foursome won the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 for Italy with the song “Zitti e buoni”.

Rush! is the third studio album by Italian rock band Måneskin, released on 20 January 2023 through Epic Records. It was preceded by the singles “Mammamia”, “Supermodel”, “The Loneliest” and “Gossip”.

Hit Album Planet Zero Out Now
On Atlantic Records

Multi-platinum, chart-topping band Shinedown are kicking off 2023 with the release of their new music video for next rock single “Dead Don’t Die” from their hit album Planet Zero. The defiant track, featuring pummeling drums and searing off-the-rails guitar solos, is a rousing declaration of survival and an anthem about the resilience of the human spirit after trying times. The cinematic video, filmed in London, was directed by Lewis Cater.

“‘Dead Don’t Die’ is the first song I think any of us had ever brought in completed that really didn’t go through some sort of major change. (Truly one of the greatest feelings I’ve had in this band.) I’m never a fan of talking about what songs mean because I feel like you put them in a box…but the song is about Brent, and the people like him…the strong-willed, refuse to give up, bend but never break human spirit. I’ve seen this man be at the bottom before, and pick himself up, and never stop trying to be better. I hope everyone feels something when they listen to it. I hope it makes you feel like you can run through a brick wall,” says guitarist Zach Myers.

Shinedown recently received an iHeartRadio Music Awards nomination for Rock Artist of the Year as well as for Rock Song of the Year for #1 rock hit single “Planet Zero.” The band also announced that they will play the Blue Ridge Rock Festival at The Virginia International Raceway in Alton, VA this September. Stay tuned for more touring news coming soon.

Shinedown’s acclaimed seventh studio album Planet Zero, produced by the band’s bassist Eric Bass, is out now via Atlantic Records and debuted in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 Chart and the Official UK Albums Chart, and at #1 on six other Billboard charts including Top Album Sales, Rock, Hard Rock, and Alternative Albums Charts. With songs like #1 rock hits “Planet Zero” and “Daylight,” Planet Zero boldly confronts the societal forces that perpetuate divisiveness while offering a restorative path forward through empathy and open conversation – ultimately serving as a reminder that it is our human connections that matter the most.

Shinedown brought Planet Zero to life across the globe last year, with the Planet Zero World Tour culminating in a sold-out UK run at the end of 2022. The video for “Daylight,” set to the Amazon Original version of the song, is a love letter to the band’s fans from the tour and the impact of the song’s message – that you are never alone – can be seen in the moving video.

Planet Zero is the latest addition to Shinedown’s record-breaking catalog that has earned the band recognition for their timely and relevant messages behind their chart-topping hits that resonate with not only their global audience and the rock community, but the greater public and our culture at large. With more than 6.5 billion global streams, 19 #1 Active Rock Hits, a Billboard record for the most mainstream rock #1 hits ever (18), 15 platinum and gold singles, platinum or gold certification for all their albums, 10 million albums sold, countless sold-out arena tours, and major media praise, Shinedown – Brent Smith [vocals], Zach Myers [guitar], Eric Bass [bass, production], and Barry Kerch [drums] – has cemented their status as one of the most vital and forward-thinking powerhouses in music.

Solence Release New Lyric Video For “Antidote”

Swedish electropop-metal quartet Solence has released a lyric video for their latest release, Antidote. Speaking to the theme of seeking meaningful connection, the track is taken from their forthcoming new album ‘_hope is a cult_’ out Friday, February 17 via Hopeless Records. Speaking on today’s release, the band shares:

“‘Antidote’ is a song about wanting to feel more alive. We interact with more people on a daily basis than ever before, yet we’re still unable to create real connections and end up feeling alone. The perspective of “Antidote” is that we desperately seek a cure, or something, to make us feel better. The song starts slow and mysterious then breaks out into a big sing-along chorus. Raise your hands, ready your voices, and lets goooo!!!!

Prior to AntidoteSolence dropped visual accompaniments for “Rain Down”“Demons”“Blood Sweat Tears”, and most recently “nuBlood” featuring Fame On Fire vocalist Bryan Kuznitz. Altogether, the visuals have amassed over half a million views on YouTube and counting. Watch the lyric video for Antidote here, pre-save ‘_hope is a cult_’ here, and pre-order the album at the link here.

_hope is a cult_
Track Listing:
1. Rain Down
2. Best For You
3. Demons
4. Waves
5. Antidote
6. Claustrophobia
7. _hope is a cult_
8. Better This Way
9. nuBlood
10. Life Goes On
11. Endless
12. _a new hope_
13. Blood Sweat Tears

No matter where we come from, music draws us together and bonds us. For as much as SOLENCE sonically conjoin elements of metal, electronic, alternative, and pop, the Swedish group also appeal to an expansive swath of personalities with a universal message. Equally suitable for the mosh pit or Coachella, the band—Markus Videsäter [vocals], David “Viking” Vikingsson [drums], David Strääf [guitar], and Johan Swärd [keys]—rally around a familial energy meant to be shared as loudly as possible. After quietly generating north of 200 million streams and counting, they welcome everyone closer on their third full-length offering and Hopeless Records debut, _hope is a cult_, and more to come.

“We want to build up this family around positivity, hope, and the belief you can change things,” notes Markus. “We want you to forget everything that bothers you when you listen to this album. If we’re doing our job, audiences feel like they’re a part of it. When you go to a SOLENCE show, you have a good time, so hope is a cult for us.”

Ville Vallo – Neon Noir | Album Review

For all the long-time HIM fans wishing the band was still around, I assure you this album will satiate that need. Neon Noir is the poppier parts of The Cure while still being reminiscent of HIM. “Loveletting” and “Echolocate Your Love” are perfect examples. The guitar and piano inclusions are simple but prominent and everything comes clear. Neon Noir is a creative and well-mixed album with track layering. Neon Noir is an album for the lovesick, the broken-hearted, and those head over heels in love. And all dressed in black. Neon Noir or Bright Growing Black is a perfect title. It sets a great mood and has you coming back. 8/10.

10 Songs Better Live
Than In Studio!

Ville Hermanni Valo is a Finnish singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the gothic rock band HIM.

HIM (sometimes stylized as H.I.M.) was a Finnish gothic rock band from Helsinki. First formed in 1991 by vocalist Ville Valo and bassist Mikko “Mige” Paananen under the name His Infernal Majesty, the band broke up after only a few years, only to be reformed in 1995 by Valo and guitarist Mikko “Linde” Lindström. After being rejoined by Mige, as well as keyboardist Antto Melasniemi and drummer Juhana “Pätkä” Rantala, the band, now called HIM, released its debut album Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666 in 1997. In 2000, now with drummer Mika “Gas Lipstick” Karppinen and keyboardist Juska Salminen, the band released Razorblade Romance, which reached the number-one spot in Finland, Austria and Germany. The first single “Join Me in Death” also charted at number one in Finland and Germany, eventually going platinum and gold, respectively. Following the addition of Janne “Burton” Puurtinen on keyboards, HIM released Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights (2001) and Love Metal (2003). Both cracked the top ten in several countries and allowed the band to tour in the United Kingdom and the United States for the first time.

Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness Releases New Single “Lying On The Hood Of Your Car”

Veteran indie-pop singer-songwriter-pianist Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness has released his sprawling new single “Lying On The Hood Of Your Car” and has announced his new studio album, Tilt At The Wind No More, will be released on March 31st via Nettwerk. PRESS HERE to listen to “Lying On The Hood Of Your Car” and PRESS HERE to watch the official music video, directed and edited by Jax Anderson (Tegan & Sara, Jagwar Twin), which first premiered as an Origins feature on Consequence – PRESS HERE to read.

“For me, this song is pure nostalgia,” shares McMahon. “I made a conscious decision when I was writing it to imagine a whole world of important figures in my life lying next to me on the hood of that imagined vehicle. In one breath it’s a song about young love and in another it’s about those nights out with friends. Nights that ended in parking lot conversations about lives you might lead one day and places you might escape to if you could. I rarely build imagined worlds when I write songs but something about this one feels very much like a memory to me.”

Tilt At The Wind No More will mark the fourth full-length studio album for McMahon under his Wilderness moniker, the follow-up to 2018’s Upside Down Flowers, and his first collection for Nettwerk. The forthcoming album, produced by Tommy English (Kacey Musgraves, K.Flay, Børns) and Jeremy Hatcher (Harry Styles, Maggie Rogers, Lizzo), features his jubilant radio hit Stars,” which peaked at #34 on the Alternative Radio chart, and recent singles Skywriting, co-written with K.Flay, the synth-pop VHS,” and romantic ballad Built To Last. McMahon’s new songs have been featured across various DSP playlists including Spotify’s New Music Friday, The New Alt, Grade A, and Alt NOW, Apple Music’s Breaking Alternative, and Amazon Music’s Alternative Hits and Brand New Music and have received critical support from BrooklynVegan, FLOOD Magazine, Alternative Press, E! News, Entertainment Tonight, idobi Radio and more.

Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness – featuring McMahon (lead vocals, piano), Bobby Anderson (guitar), Jay McMillan (drums), Mikey Wagner (bass) and Zac Clark (keys) – will celebrate the release of Tilt At The Wind No More with intimate shows at The Chain Reaction in Anaheim, California on March 30th and 31st and Rockwood Music Hall in New York City on April 4th. The band has also announced a run of May headlining tour dates that will stop in Albany, Montreal, Toronto, Milwaukee, Buffalo, and Norfolk, among others, and is set to make their debut at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival on June 17th. See below for full list of upcoming tour dates. Presale tickets for all newly announced headlining shows will be available January 12th at 10am local time with fan club presales available for the May dates starting at 2pm ET/11am PT today (January 11th). Public on sale commences Friday, January 13th at 10am local time. Visit https://andrewmcmahon.com/pages/tour for all ticketing details and to purchase.

Over the last two decades, Andrew McMahon has successfully experienced musical rebirth many times and has consistently arrived on the other side stronger than ever. The East Coast-born, SoCal-based artist first co-founded the pop-punk outfit Something Corporate in 1998, serving as the group’s singer, pianist, and songwriter and leading the band to major chart success in the early 2000s via the albums Leaving Through The Window (2002) and North (2003). Soon after, McMahon resurfaced with the more personal solo project Jack’s Mannequin, finding success through three studio albums, with the second (The Glass Passenger, 2008) and third (People and Things, 2011) entering the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart and their debut, Everything In Transit (2005), reaching Gold status.
