Thanks to everyone who listened. Still trying to improve the podcast in any way I can so any suggestions are welcome. I don’t want to overload the podcast with filler or make unnecessary changes, but I know there is always room for improvement. The rest of May will be a little out of the ordinary as I’ll be out of town for two weekends, but I’ll figure out a way to record things early. New Music Nights are still scheduled as of now on Twitch at 7PM EST.

MisterWives announce fourth LP ‘Nosebleeds’

Today, New York City/Los Angeles-based alt-pop group MisterWives announce their highly anticipated fourth studio album Nosebleeds due out July 14 and available for pre-order now. Plus, the band announces the Don’t Look Down Tour with Bishop Briggs across North America this fall with tickets on sale now via misterwives.com/tour. Alongside the announcements, the band shares the booming, tenacious title track out everywhere now and its accompanying video, which premiered exclusively via Rolling Stone.

Nosebleeds, highly anticipated fourth studio album by MisterWives, propels the group into all new territory, this time, equipped with bravery, confidence and strength. Through a decade-long career, of tremendous highs and lows, the forthcoming project meets the band at their most evolved as they turn their pain into power. Over ten compelling tracks, the band digs deeper than they ever have before, capturing the nuances of life’s highs and low and re-defining what it means to succeed and to fail.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, who raves this is “their best music yet,” frontwoman Mandy Lee explains, ‘Nosebleeds’ encompasses both meanings of the word–feeling high up and beat down–a response to the punches that leaned into the messy middle without fast forwarding to a silver lining. Learning along the way that the journey is both heavy and delicate, vulnerable and strong, betrayal and trust, ugly and beautiful.” On the forthcoming album, the band opens up about their struggles, and what it takes to stick together after so many years. “Being a band for ten years and still standing despite the amount of times we’ve been dropped, a bandmate quitting during the pandemic, a divorce–the perfect storm for how bands historically fall apart–felt like a pretty big triumph and moment to allow ourselves to create our fourth record with no limitations and without feeling boxed into what others might expect from us.”

Unafraid to fall apart, the album observes the band piece themselves back together, better than ever before. With a new MisterWives era on the horizon, Lee adds, ‘Nosebleeds’ was a homecoming to truth and freedom of self-expression and in doing so, we find ourselves in new territory both sonically and lyrically that unlocked our most raw and empowering music yet.”

“Nosebleeds,” the title track of the album, sees the band aim to let go of outside judgement and criticism and find a deep-rooted confidence on their own. Lee says, “Written during the pandemic and right in the thick of numerous sucker punches, ‘Nosebleeds’ was one of the first songs I wrote for the album before realizing it would later become the song to spark the overarching theme of the record. Being kept high up in the nosebleeds and on the outside of where you want to be has been a recurring dynamic in my life, especially in an industry that has profited off moving the goalpost or cutting ties if you don’t conform to how they see fit.”

It was the creation of the track that unleashed newfound energy, freedom and creativity, leading to the powerful forthcoming project. Lee continues, “‘Nosebleeds’ was the first step in letting go of all the naysayers and letting in uninhibited acceptance of myself without outside approval. Not shying away from that radical feeling we matched the music in tone with distorted guitars, gritty synths and a pulsing beat that helped give my voice the confidence I needed to start this next chapter and to keep going.”

Alt-pop singer-songwriter K.Flay, who helped write the track, was thrilled to contribute and join Lee in unlocking new creative freedom and confidence. K.Flay adds, “This song is about shedding self consciousness, about what it feels like to watch yourself, to know yourself, but hold back judgment. To be in the moment. I think Mandy is in a space of freedom right now and it was so exciting to tap into that. I absolutely love working together!”

The accompanying bold music video, directed by Jax Anderson, follows Lee as she comes face to face with her inner child, a version of Lee who was free from the weight of others’ opinions, before life left scars, and aims to protect her. Providing insight into the striking music video, Lee says, “The ‘Nosebleeds’ music video takes you on the journey of trying to protect and get back to your inner child–the person you were before life dragged you through the trenches. Being thrown around through obstacles and suffocated by the endless spiral of suffering, doubt, and opinions of others, I find a younger version of myself I’ve been chasing amidst the chaos.”

Lee’s inner child ultimately attempts to guide her back to who she once was as the twisting and turning visual mirrors life’s trials and tribulations. “Through symbolism of movement she teaches me how to get back to who I was before the world told me who to be.” Lee aims to escape through a doorway that looks like an escape from the madness only to find herself thrown into a never-ending staircase symbolizing the journey to healing will always be a continuous one. We chose to end this scene dressed in the same clothes from the crowd of people to represent how often we feel isolated in our pain when in reality our struggles are a lot more similar than we may think.”

Anderson was thrilled to team up with the band, stating, “I’ve always been a huge fan of MisterWives and I was crazy excited when they asked me to direct this video. Their lyrics are so personal and they’re absolutely incredible live. ‘Nosebleeds’ is such a banger, I just wanted to do the track & their band justice!”

The previously shared unapologetic, anthemic track “Out Of Your Mind” sees the band step out of their comfort zone, embrace uncomfortable feelings and take more artistic risks. They’re choosing both “truth” and “dare.” PAPER Magazine, who premiered the track, wrote, “MisterWives is stepping into a new era of punk, angst and fury with the release of their single “Out Of Your Mind,” a bloodthirsty breakup diatribe…Mandy Lee’s vicious hook…infuses the pop-punk track with head-banging messages of empowerment.” Set in a rage room, the accompanying video was directed by Matty Vogel and sees lead singer Lee break free from the confines of harsh expectations and regain her artistic liberty. In celebration of the single’s release, the band teamed up with Consequence to present a fan exclusive event at Rage Cage in Brooklyn, NY. Select fans who entered the contest were able to join the band to let out their anger, participate in a Q&A and even hear some unreleased snippets.

Like their eager fans, Variety is ready for new MisterWives, writing, “MisterWives are entering a new era in their nearly decade-long career.” Atwood Magazine lauded the band’s relentless dedication to their craft and loyal fan base, “They have never wavered to fit into a mold, and they have always delivered a genuine and one-of-a-kind experience through their songs and the shows that go with them.”

Finally, the new MisterWives era is here, this time, equipped with renewed energy, newfound creative freedom and glowing determination. The once technicolor days of the band are now drenched in the blackness of sacred anger, as they embrace their whole selves with their most self-assured release to date, the good, the band, the ugly and the angry.

Unearth – The Wretched; The Ruinous | Album Review

Trevor Phillips said that this album would be heavier than anything in the band’s catalog. One thing I can confirm, this is definitely heavy. Explosive heavy metal from Unearth. An album with a concept following how we are ruining our world and the future. The drum fills and guitar riffs are intense. This new album fits right into the wheelhouse of what Unearth has laid out already. Fierce growls and solos for days. The title track, “Eradicator”, “Call Of Existence”, are the meat and potatoes of what Unearth fans want and it’s a massive serving. This is an example of a band leaning into what they do best, this time aggressive heavy metal meets hardcore, and delivering that as loud as possible. Not wretched at all 8/10.

VOYAGER

Perth’s fearless, riff-laden, genre-bending band VOYAGER will be releasing its eighth studio album ‘Fearless In Love’ on July 14 via Season Of Mist! In celebration, the Eurovision contenders are now sharing the first song, “Prince of Fire,” along with a music video. 3TEETH Return With “Merchant Of The Void,”

3TEETH

Modern industrial act 3TEETH have re-entered the conversation of our tortured reality with Merchant Of The Void.” Released today, the band’s brand-new single is the first in a series of monthly teases leading up to their anticipated new album coming soon via Century Media Records.

As A.I. takes over, banks collapse, climates further spiral out of control and humans grapple with an existential living nightmare, 3TEETH is laying it out straight with a brutal new outlook on track Merchant Of The Void,” revealing their first salvo into a new era of sonic exploration.

The track comes alongside a stunning graphic video from one of Hollywood’s leading animators Matteo Santoro (who grew up with 3TEETH frontman Alexis Mincolla) producing a visually epic piece that takes viewers on a space-folding journey into hyper-consumerism on a Lovecraftian scale.

Pre-save “Merchant Of The Void” here: https://3teeth.lnk.to/MerchantOfTheVoid-Single

The gut-punch song pairs the band’s trademark gritty electro-industrial metal alchemy with ruminations on the self-destructive path humanity has been treading on, as described by frontman and creative lead Alexis Mincolla :

”Amidst the numbing pulse of hypermodernity, the insatiable appetite of data commodification devours our sense of meaning. The undead march of materialism eventually renders the human subject an automaton, desperately grasping for the ephemeral junk 2.0 to fill the abyss of existential emptiness. The self devolves into a mere echo, a ghostly specter caught in the whirlwind of techno-capital acceleration, the very essence of its being devoured by the machinery of its own weaponized desires. If the future eludes your vision, fear not, The Merchant of The Void is standing by and eager to sell it to you. Welcome to the cold descent into the black hole of total absolute commodification.  In the words of William S. Burrough ‘The junk merchant doesn’t sell his product to the consumer, he sells the consumer to his product. He does not improve and simplify his merchandise. He degrades and simplifies the client.”

Merchant of The Void” follows previously released track Paralyze” (featuring Ho99o9), both of which hail from 3TEETH’s much-anticipated fourth album, forthcoming via Century Media Records (more details to be announced soon).

To lay the foundation for the new material, 3TEETH migrated to the deserted quiet of Joshua Tree, escaping from the palpable anxiety of their hometown of Los Angeles for fresh new perspective. The material is currently being wrapped up with a solid extended team including the accomplished sound designer Mick Gordon (best known for his work on the gaming phenomenon DOOM) who produced several of the tracks along with producer Nick Rowe and mixer Sean Beavan (NIN), bringing in another dimension to the band’s unmistakable sound.

Says Gordon, “3TEETH are one of my favorite acts. They proudly fly their own unique flag. The new album charts course through the next stage of our vanity-led evolution as a species, and by that I mean the album is a world unto itself. I’m just stoked that these guys have allowed me along for the ride.”

Bush Releases New Single “All Things Must Change”

Bush

Today, legendary rock band Bush followed up their #1 Active Rock Radio smash “More Than Machines” by releasing their thrilling new track “All Things Must Change” and announcing the release of the deluxe edition of their 2022 triumph ‘The Art Of Survival.’ The track continues the “hot streak” of collaborations between top producer/writer Erik Ron, and Bush guitarist Chris Traynor with Gavin Rossdale’s hall of fame lyrics and melody. A bruising heavy rock song that interrogates the unexpected changes that life has in store, “All Things Must Change” yet again proves that Bush is still one of the most vital voices in contemporary music.

Frontman Gavin Rossdale stated about the track, “This is nature. All things are changing. All the time.”

Having received immensely positive reviews upon release, the deluxe edition of ‘The Art Of Survival’ cements the album’s status as a classic of the already iconic Bush catalog. AllMusic remarked that it was their “their best post-hiatus offering to date…an essential late-catalog installment that re-energizes their sound with fresh tricks and newfound purpose” while Billboard noted that ‘The Art Of Survival’ “finds Rossdale and company full of bombast, huge guitars, and memorable hooks.‘The Art Of Survival’ encompasses the resiliency of the human spirit in the face of trials and tribulations as the band’s own enduring place as rock outliers.

Pre-save the deluxe edition of ‘The Art Of Survival’ HERE

Bush is back on the road for another hard-charging romp around the country, this time once again alongside fellow icons of rock Breaking Benjamin. The band will be hitting markets not yet served by their previous tours supporting ‘The Art Of Survival’. Kicking off on May 2nd, the shows will feature a mixture of classic cuts like “Machinehead” and “Glycerine” in addition to new music like “More Than Machines” – their 7th #1 at radio, that showcases the diversity and timelessness of the Bush songbook.

Shinedown Announces The Revolutions Live Fall Tour

Multi-platinum, chart-topping band Shinedown has announced their upcoming fall leg of The Revolutions Live Tour, co-produced by Live Nation and FPC Live, with support From Papa Roach and Spiritbox.

The fall run of shows starts off in St. Louis, MO on September 3, kicking off a 26-date run of fall headline shows and festivals. Tickets are on sale this Friday May 5th at 10am Local at LiveNation.com. Various presales will be available Wednesday, May 3 through Thursday, May 4. VIP packages featuring exclusive access available for purchase. Full tour routing below. For all show/ticketing details for the fall dates and previously announced dates please visit www.shinedown.com.

This week, the band’s hit single “A Symptom of Being Human jumped into the Top 25 at Hot AC Radio. Unfolding with gentle acoustic guitar, soaring strings, delicate piano, and a powerful vocal delivery from front man Brent Smith, “A Symptom Of Being Human” celebrates the beauty of our individual differences and embraces the ups and downs of life, while showcasing Shinedown’s gift for making us feel connected through our common humanity.

This follows Shinedown’s recent #1 at Active Rock Radio with “Dead Don’t Die.” The single notched Shinedown their 20th #1 at the format. It became the most spun #1 song at the Active Rock format in a single week since 2016 when Metallica’s “Hard Wired” hit that milestone, and it is also the most played Shinedown #1 in one week at Active Rock. The defiant track, featuring pummeling drums and searing off-the-rails guitar solos, is a rousing declaration of survival and an anthem about the resilience of the human spirit after trying times.

Shinedown is currently on their spring tour playing to sold out arenas across the country, with support from fellow chart-toppers Three Days Grace and From Ashes To New. For this current run of shows, Shinedown has partnered with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to donate $1 for every ticket sold.

The Planet Zero album debuted in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 Chart and the Official UK Albums Chart, and at #1 on six other Billboard charts including Top Album Sales, Rock, Hard Rock, and Alternative Albums Charts. Featuring searing and incisive tracks like “Dead Don’t Die” and #1 rock hit “Planet Zero”, as well as uplifting and unifying songs like the soaring pop-rock anthem and #1 rock hit “Daylight,”  Planet Zero boldly confronts the societal forces that perpetuate divisiveness while offering a restorative path forward through empathy and open conversation – ultimately serving as a reminder that it is our human connections that matter the most. The band’s video for “Daylight,” set to the Amazon Original version of the song, is a love letter to their fans and shows the impact that the song’s message – that you are never alone – had during Shinedown’s sold-out Planet Zero World Tour. PRESS HERE to watch.
