Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – Wild God | Album Review

After true tragedy in the life of Nick Cave, Wild God sees a defiant act of moving forward. Back with The Bad Seeds, Wild God is a radical form of joy in the face of life’s brutal situations and events. Sounding much lighter and more effervescent than the grief soaked Skeleton Tree and Ghosteen, Cave’s voice sounds determined and almost prophetic. The instrumentals are orchestrated and performed excellently, all surrounding a relatable story. Some of the loud, climatic moments will have you swelling and exasperated in a great way. There are many albums that suck you into the mood but Wild God is the type that will have you jumping back into head first just for how many great moments there are. We’ve all had too much sorrow, now is the time for a great album from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. 9/10.

___

“The latest album from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Wild God, released on August 30, 2024, marks a significant return for the band after a five-year hiatus since their previous album, Ghosteen. This 18th studio album features ten tracks that blend conventional rock elements with experimental sounds, showcasing Cave’s signature soul-stirring narratives. Produced by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, Wild God is described as a “complicated record” that is “deeply and joyously infectious,” reflecting a sense of happiness and reconnection among the band members. Critics have praised the album for its uplifting themes and emotional depth, with Metacritic giving it a score of 91/100, indicating universal acclaim. Songs like “O Wow O Wow (How Wonderful She Is)” have been highlighted as standout tracks, reinforcing the album’s exploration of joy amidst life’s challenges. Available in various formats including streaming, CD, and limited edition vinyl, Wild God is a testament to Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ enduring creativity and evolution in sound.” (Perplexity)

Electronic Artist Barren Gates Release “Limbo” ft. Stain The Canvas

Electronic Artist Barren Gates
Release “Limbo” ft. Stain The Canvas

Electronic artist, Barren Gates has released a new single ‘Limbo’ featuring Stain The Canvas, out on August 30, via InVogue Records. The track marks another powerful entry in the band’s growing discography, showcasing their signature blend of raw emotion, evocative production soundscapes, and dynamic vocals that switch effortlessly between haunting melodies and cathartic screams. It is the band’s newest feature since the release of their rendition of ‘Unholy’ back in March earlier this year.

Limbo reflects the poignant memories of a youthful love that once burned brightly but delves into the complicated aftermath of a relationships end. Exploring the story of two lovers who, despite ending their relationship, secretly yearn for each other. Questioning whether their love might still be alive, one partner becomes more determined to reconcile, while the other remains hesitant and unsure. The song captures this emotional tug-of-war, reflecting the uncertainty and longing that comes with trying to navigate the space between past love and present hesitation. Caught between holding on and letting go, the lyrics paint a vivid picture of surviving in the emotional purgatory that follows.

Stain The Canvas mentions about the new single:

“Limbo is about two lovers ending their relationship but they both secretly miss each other. When they start to suspect their love is still alive, one is more convinced to go back together while the other one vacillates.”

The track’s haunting production combines Stain The Canvas’s signature dynamic rhythms and emotionally charged vocals, creating an atmosphere that draws listeners into the emotional complexity of the story. The production enhances the sense of melancholy and unresolved desire that permeates the song.

blessthefall Drop “Drag Me Under” Video

blessthefall

blessthefall are back — again — and what a welcome return it is.

In Spring 2023, the Arizona quartet — Beau Bokan [vocals], Eric Lambert [guitar], Jared Warth [bass], and Elliott Gruenberg [guitar] — dropped “Wake the Dead,” their first new track in five years. It has already accred a whopping 10 million streams. Watch the video here

Today, the band has shared the video for the recently released new single — “Drag Me Under,” featuring Alpha Wolf’s Lochie Keogh. And yes, it rips. The song was co-written by Tony Cappocchi from Dragged Under and produced and mixed by Hiram Hernandez.

“The first time I heard the instrumental for ‘Drag Me Under,’ my mind was absolutely blown away,” says Bokan. “This song punishes you relentlessly then lets you breathe for about four seconds then continues to punish. I knew we needed a top tier feature to really make this song stand out so we recruited Lochie Keogh from Alpha Wolf. It’s pretty obvious this song is totally different than anything we’re ever done but still sounds like Blessthefall.”

Blessthefall will also embark on a headline tour. It kicks off August 28 in Berkley, California and runs through September 28 in Davenport, Iowa. All dates are below. Get tickets here

blessthefall’s notched back-to-back Top 25 debuts on the Billboard 200 with Hollow Bodies [2013] and To Those Left Behind [2015], while 2018’s Hard Feelings marked their third straight Top 5 bow on the Top Alternative Albums Chart. With the latter, Unclear claimed the band “may have struck serious gold,” while Alternative Press applauded how “blessthefall blend old-school vibes and a fresh new sound. Speaking to their enduring legacy, they’ve racked up hundreds of millions of streams with “Hey Baby, Here’s That Song You Wanted” at 33.8 million Spotify streams followed by “Hollow Bodies” at 26.2 million Spotify streams in addition to landing syncs in franchises such as Splinter Cell. In the wake of a successful 10-year anniversary tour to celebrate Witness in 2019, blessthefall went quiet for the next two years. Between the global pandemic and various other gigs, the members still kept the lines of communication open. The band now emerges from a half-decade of dormancy, and not a moment too soon.

Fit For An Autopsy Shares “Savior Of None / Ashes Of All”

Fit for an Autopsy

Metal band Fit For An Autopsy is thrilled to share their brand new single “Savior Of None / Ashes Of All”. Along with the track comes a new music video, which fans can watch here:

“Savior Of None / Ashes Of All” comes from the band’s forthcoming album The Nothing That Is which is set to be released on October 25th via Nuclear Blast. Pre-order/pre-save the album now at https://ffaa.bfan.link/the-nothing-that-is.

On the new track, the band shares: “’Savior Of None / Ashes Of All’ is a reflection of the inherent darkness surrounding one’s struggle to find a place of peace within the pressures of existence. The root causes of suffering that leads us to depression, addiction, etc. can be ever-present in everyone. Whether or not it materializes in a controlling way, it certainly exists as a stain on the human psyche. It’s a powerful thought knowing that we all share this potential to self destruct, and how that can bring comfort in not feeling alone, or more chaos to an already fractured human.”

“Rock & roll conspiracies have fascinated fans for decades, with some of the most notorious theories surrounding iconic figures like Paul McCartney and the band KISS. One of the most enduring legends is the “Paul is dead” conspiracy, which claims that McCartney died in a car crash in 1966 and was replaced by a lookalike. This theory gained traction in the late 1960s as fans began to uncover supposed clues in Beatles songs and album covers, such as the infamous Abbey Road cover, interpreted as a funeral procession. Similarly, KISS has been at the center of bizarre rumors, including the claim that the band’s blood was mixed with ink to produce the red cover of a Sports Illustrated magazine. This sensational story adds to the mystique surrounding the band, which is known for its theatrical performances and elaborate personas. These examples illustrate how rock & roll conspiracies blend myth and reality, captivating audiences and fueling discussions about the hidden narratives behind beloved music legends.” (Perplexity)

Silly Goose is the audacious brainchild of Jackson Foster and Alan Benikhis, musicians who eat, sleep, and breathe the raw power of late ’90s rap rock and nu metal. Growing up, the two marinated in the vibes of Limp Bizkit, Rage Against the Machine, Gojira, and an eclectic mix of genres, all coming together to forge the unmistakable sound of Silly Goose.

Silly Goose’s first EP, The Goose Is Out Of The Bag, was put together while the boys were still in high school and laid the groundwork for their ambitious style, while simultaneously showcasing one of the attributes that their fans most appreciate – a commitment to delivering hard-hitting music without taking themselves too seriously. At the end of the day, Silly Goose are all about providing an outlet for all kinds of feelings, from frustration to rage, resentment and revenge to reveling in the joy of occasionally wanting to just be silly and mosh for the sheer exhilaration of it.

The new single “Tsunami” pushes boundaries in the spirit of the previously released tracks “King Of The Hill” and “Live It Up,” marking a massive milestone as their first release since signing with Blue Grape Music.

What truly sets Silly Goose apart is their fusion of high-energy performances with a genuine, down-to-earth vibe. They never take themselves too seriously. Their simple mission is to make good music, have fun and make the people happy; a purpose that endears them to fans who appreciate the authenticity of their vibe. Silly Goose isn’t just a band; they’re a brotherhood of rockers who live to shred and put on unforgettable live shows.

The current lineup of Silly Goose features Foster on lead vocals, Benikhis on drums, Ian Binion on lead guitar and backup vocals, and Yalli Alvarez on bass guitar and backup vocals. Together, they create a sound that’s both explosive and deeply engaging, powered by Jackson’s dynamic vocal delivery and the band’s relentless instrumentation.
