Dirty Honey Releases “Coming Home” Music Video

Dirty Honey

Currently on its third consecutive, sold-out U.K./European headline tour, today Dirty Honey releases a brand new music video for “Coming Home (Ballad of the Shire)” from the band’s current album, Can’t Find The Brakes

The “Coming Home” video offers an unexpected element from a band best known for its high-energy, sexy, bluesy rock’n’roll and reflects the song’s message about navigating through the peaks and valleys of life.  With lyrics by vocalist Marc LaBelle, the song is a deeply personal, heartfelt tale of love and life’s everyday challenges: the insecurities, the misunderstandings, the words spoken that you wish you hadn’t, and the hurt inflicted that you can’t magically erase.  But, in the end, the realization is that no matter the challenges, home is where your heart is, home is where you belong, and home is just a few more miles ahead.

Said LaBelle, “Being musicians that live on the road, ‘Home’ has become wherever it is that we’re playing music, rather than a particular place. We wanted to showcase our separate journeys, knowing full well that the music will always call us back home.”

Directed, shot, and edited by cinematographer Mark Christy, the “Coming Home” video was filmed in January, taking the band – LaBelle, guitarist John Notto, bassist Justin Smolian, and drummer Jaydon Bean – to various U.S. locations.  Explained LaBelle, “We went to Snoquamish for the snow and to Durango and Flagstaff for the train scenes. And we knew Monument Valley was an epic, very American West-looking landscape symbolic of both America’s beauty and the struggle of and vastness of traveling through the American West.”

Having kicked off in Glasgow, Scotland on February 7, heading to Australia in March for their first-ever “down under” concerts, and performing at two major summer U.S. festivals in May, Dirty Honey’s upcoming U.K./European/Australian/U.S. dates are below:

The general on-sale will commence Friday, March 1st at 10am local time. See below for full list of upcoming tour dates and visit www.somethingcorporate.com for ticketing details and to purchase. The tour will be using a Face Value Exchange where, if needed, fans can resell their ticket to other fans at the original price paid. To help protect the Exchange, tickets for this tour will be mobile only and restricted from transfer. This applies to all shows except those in Illinois, Colorado, New York, and Utah where Face Value Exchange cannot be mandated.

“The band and I couldn’t be more excited for these upcoming dates,” shares front man Andrew McMahon. “We’re having more fun together than ever and the generosity of the fans, both online and at last year’s shows, made it impossible not to come back and do a few more. We hope to see you there!”

The core members of the Orange County, California quintet – Andrew McMahon (vocals, piano), Josh Partington (guitar), Kevin “Clutch” Page (bass), Brian Ireland (drums), and William Tell (guitar) – reunited in 2023 for main stage performances at the When We Were Young festival and three sold-out headlining shows in Las Vegas and Anaheim. These five special gigs, their first official shows together in 20 years, left their dedicated fanbase clamoring for more. The reunion performances also saw McMahon debut a one-of-a-kind upright piano fully wrapped in Christie MicroTiles LED displaying images and lyrics from throughout the band’s catalog, slated to be front and center once again on the Out Of Office Tour.

Something Corporate first formed in 1998 when its members were in high school and in a short period of time created quite the stir before going on hiatus in 2005. During its tenure, the highly adored SoCal band released multiple albums, including their major label debut, Leaving Through The Window, in 2002 via MCA Records/Drive-Thru Records, which premiered at the top of the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, and 2003’s North, which entered the Billboard 200 at #24. During its heyday, the band toured extensively worldwide, including a summer on the Vans Warped Tour, graced the cover of Alternative Press magazine, and performed on late-night TV including an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Collectively, Something Corporate – hailed as “one of the most respected groups in the scene with their incredible hooks and emotionally transparent music” (Alternative Press) – has sold over 1 million total records.

Knocked Loose Announce New Album; Share New Song “Blinding Faith”

On You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed ToKnocked Loose have honed in on a diverse, cohesive and savagely aggressive album that sums up the massive strides they’ve taken during their decade as a band, and asserts their boundless potential going forward. Internally, there was the need to challenge themselves as songwriters while retaining the merciless intensity and unflinching honesty that have always been their calling cards. Externally, there was a whole new set of eyes on the hard-touring Louisville quintet, following a banner year on the road, during which they’d brought their underground-seasoned sound to some of the world’s biggest stages.

From the start, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To plunges listeners into a cauldron of mental and spiritual anguish. But the album’s title contains a note of reassurance amid the turmoil. The phrase originates from an experience that frontman Bryan Garris, who suffers from what he calls a “borderline phobia of flying,” had during a particularly trying flight. As he battled his nerves during takeoff, the vocalist found himself talking to a woman seated next to him. When he confided in her about his anxiety, she assured, “You won’t go before you’re supposed to.”

But glossing over negative emotions isn’t what Knocked Loose are about. The new songs find them plumbing through new depths of loathing — directed both inward and outward. The Knocked Loose raging lead single “Blinding Faith” skillfully wields whiplash tempo changes in service of a scathing indictment of religious groupthink, and the hypocrisy that can sometimes accompany an outwardly pious life.

“It was just hilarious how many people showed up to church that I knew were rude, horrible, selfish people,” guitarist Isaac Hale reflects of attending church with his mother in his younger years. “They knew that it made them seem like a better person — or if they said the words, it would redeem them of any negative quality just because they showed face.”

“Blinding Faith” is available today alongside a video directed by Kevin Lombardo. Watch below.

Knocked Loose “Blinding Faith”

Across 10 tracks and 27 gripping minutes, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To leans into Knocked Loose’s most extreme impulses, from blastbeat-driven fury, chaotic turbulence and seismic breakdowns, while seasoning the mix with ear-catching auxiliary percussion, evocative samples and shout-along hooks, all interwoven to perfection by Grammy-nominated, pop-savy producer Drew “WZRD BLD” Fulk.

You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To is filled with boundary-pushing textures and samples the band has collected over the years. On “Suffocate,” Garris teams up with pop-meets-metal trailblazer Poppy, for an effort that contrasts an oppressive heaviness befitting the title with a dance-y, syncopated groove and the most concussive reggaeton rhythm you’ve ever heard. Samples of what sounds like meditative singing bowls open the album to “Take Me Home,” with its spoken-word intro, ear-catching auxiliary percussion and brief yet evocative concluding country-song snippet. Elements like these only make the breakneck blur of a track like “Moss Covers All,” a song that Garris says deals with his ever-present longing for the comfort of home, feel that much more urgent.

“On this album, we go the fastest we’ve ever gone; we go the scariest we’ve ever gone. We also go the catchiest and the most melodic that we’ve ever gone, and that’s the point,” Hale says. “Instead of branching off into a specific direction, we want to encompass ALL directions.”

There’s no ceiling for hardcore in 2024 — even an outfit as uncompromising as Knocked Loose can turn up in mainstream-adjacent spaces and win over new fans (see 2023’s viral Coachella and Bonnaroo sets). But there’s a center to what they do that will never change: uncompromising heaviness, both sonically and thematically. What is evolving is their drive to find new ways to convey that heaviness, and add tasteful variety that only highlights their undiminished ferocity. Everywhere Knocked Loose have been is here on this record — but so is everywhere they may yet go.

Knocked Loose are currently wrapping a sold out EU/UK run and hit the road again late April on a headlining North American tour. The run hits both coasts and includes two sold out nights in New York City at Brooklyn Steel and Terminal 5 plus sold out shows at Austin’s Stubb’s Amphitheater, The Shrine in Los Angeles and more. Show Me The Body, Loathe and Speed will support. Job For A Cowboy – Moon Healer | Album Review

A fantastic example of technical death metal with wild creativity. With death metal and deathcore, your mileage will vary in the vocals. Jonny Davy’s bark is shocking through the runtime so be prepared. As deep and fierce the vocals get, the instrument work from Job For A Cowboy is just as brilliant. One of the most cleanly played albums I’ve heard in metal, and that’s saying something for how technical it all is. This is an onslaught to your ears and you will have to take a step back during a full playthrough to take it all in. The music itself is so good that it’s hard to ignore how well-polished Moon Healer is, especially the singles which still stand out as some of Moon Healer’s best. Moon Healer will not be for everyone due to the intensity, but it should be more than enough for death metal and technical metal fans. Job For A Cowboy is back. 8/10.

Shinedown Debuts on Top 40 with Crossover Hit “A Symptom Of Being Human”

Multi-platinum, chart-topping band Shinedown’s crossover hit A Symptom Of Being Human” has debuted on the Top 40 chart. The track was the second most added song on the format this week behind Beyonce’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” with notable adds including Z100 and SiriusXM Hits 1.

“A Symptom Of Being Human” is the fourth #1 Active Rock single from the band’s acclaimed seventh studio album Planet Zero (Atlantic Records) and has extended the band’s record for most No. 1 songs on the Mediabase Active Rock Chart (21) and their record for the most No. 1’s in the history of Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart (19). The track also sits in the Top 10 at Alternative Radio, further cementing its multi-format success. PRESS HERE to download/stream “A Symptom Of Being Human” and PRESS HERE to watch the song’s official music video.

It’s rare for a rock band to break into pop music, but Shinedown has always believed that music is universal and doesn’t have to be put in a genre box, as evidenced by the response to “A Symptom Of Being Human” resonating with all listeners across multiple formats with its uplifting and important message about how we are all a work in progress. Collectively, “A Symptom Of Being Human” has amassed tens of millions of streams across all versions including a new live versionpop remixacoustic version, and piano version.

Shinedown front man Brent Smith recently sat down with Rolling Stone to discuss the success of “Symptom” as well as the band’s decades-long career speaking out and singing about mental health and the human connection – PRESS HERE to read.

A Scent Like Wolves – Distant Dystopia | Album Review

It’s safe to say that there aren’t a ton of smaller metalcore bands from the early 2010’s that are still around. Whether it be the financial strain, the rigors of touring, or the evolution of the sound over the course of a decade, many local bands petered out for some reason or another. That isn’t the case for A Scent Like Wolves, who have held steadfast since their inception in 2010 and are arguably in their peak as 2024 has hit. Off the heels of 2021’s Mystic Auras, the metalcore group is set to release their newest offering, Distant Dystopia. After all these years, does the band still have it?

With something of a throwback sound, A Scent Like Wolves don’t necessarily adhere to the modern metalcore stylings that their contemporaries show en masse. Instead of interspersed trap beats and copy/paste song structure, Distant Dystopia is more keen on synthesizer backings and thall guitar riffs. The result is a satisfying blend that would fit right in with ERRA and Invent Animate, which makes sense as A Scent Like Wolves got Jesse/JT from the former to feature in Mystic Auras and Marcus Vic shows up on Distant Dystopia’s “Interstellar”. Tack on production from a veritable dream team of Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland and it’s a winning formula.

Even if I can’t help but think of ERRA/IA in the grand scheme of Distant Dystopia, one can’t have enough of a good thing; it brings me back to hearing Blueshift’s prog-metalcore opus in Voyager. Harmonies between both the guitar lines and vocalists across most songs makes for a unique dynamic that gives A Scent Like Wolves some much-needed it-factor. It’s a metalcore record where the soaring choruses resonate just as much as the riffs do, and no member is far behind the other. There’s some standout moments too, like the short-but-sweet “Starship”s frantic BPM or bringing in a curveball with ZOMBIESHARK! on “Reach Into Hell”. Vocals go unreasonably hard in interlude “Halcyon” as well, as there’s a lot of talent full-realized on this LP.

There’s a lot to love on A Scent Like Wolves’ Distant Dystopia. Right on par with Mystic Auras, there’s no songs that drag or feel like filler across the entire album. I’d love to hear the group wear their inspirations on their sleeves a little less, but like I said, if it sounds like a band I can’t get enough of, that’s hardly a problem for a casual listener. Despite the band’s long tenure, A Scent Like Wolves still feels underrated as the tight production and ample songwriting makes for a nice metalcore playthrough that should saddle in with the genre’s current greats. Here’s hoping more ears flock to A Scent Like Wolves with Distant Dystopia.
