“GRAMMY-nominated heavyweights TRIVIUM — vocalist/guitarist MATTHEW K. HEAFY; guitarist COREY BEAULIEU; and bassist PAOLO GREGOLETTO — have released the three-song EP STRUCK DEAD today, October 31, via longtime label Roadrunner Records. “In August 2023, we set out to design and build our own studio at The Hangar — a place to create freely, on our own terms,” says Gregoletto about the EP’s genesis. The creative catalyst, though, was the band’s past and desire to see what’s next. “Born from months of revisiting and performing Ascendancy in full, this EP channels that familiar power and spirit while pushing into new territory,” he continues. “We feel that Struck Dead stands as the first step into a bold new era for us and we happy to finally share it with all of you.” (Press Release)

Trivium – Struck Dead | EP Review

Alex Bent goes out on a high note on the Struck Dead EP from Trivium.

Trivium got Struck Dead on Halloween and in three songs they reminded me of how much punch this band can deliver, even in a short time frame. Three tracks with plenty of intensity and everything showcased well from solos to punchy bass and a killer drum track. Do I wish it was longer? Sure, but that doesn’t diminish how fierce this EP is with plenty of replay value in under 18 minutes. If this is Alex Bent’s last work with Trivium, then it’s a great note to go out on and another nice, if not short, chapter for Trivium’s impressive catalog. 8/10.

“Saturday Night Live (SNL) is a late-night sketch comedy and variety show created by Lorne Michaels. It premiered on NBC on October 11, 1975, under the title NBC’s Saturday Night. The show often satirizes contemporary American popular culture and politics. Saturday Night Live features a two-tiered cast: the repertory members, also known as the “Not Ready for Prime Time Players,” and newer cast members, known as “Featured Players.” Each week, the show features a host, often a well-known celebrity, who delivers an opening monologue and performs in sketches with the cast. A musical guest is also invited to perform several sets (usually two, occasionally more). Every so often a host or musical guest fills both roles. With the exception of season 7 and several other rare cases, the show begins with a cold open that ends with someone breaking character and proclaiming, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!” The musical guests have featured rock names such as Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Queen, and many more.” (Wiki)

“Halloween is among us and there’s no better way to get in the spirit than to curl up and watch a horror movie. Horror goes pretty hand-in-hand with metal, especially because a lot of musicians incorporate horror imagery and references into their sound and aesthetic. Slipknot, Rob Zombie and Ice Nine Kills are just a few examples of artists who are often associated with the horror genre — Corey Taylor and Zombie have literally worked on films themselves and INK base their music on different horror films.” (Loudwire

HEAVYS Weekly Breakdown | 10/26/25

“Bad Omens are back with their third single of 2025, and you’re going to love it. Following recent tracks “Specter” and “Impose,” their latest heady anthem is called “Dying to Love.” The band teased the track earlier this week across socials, delivering a quick clip that featured a man wandering through a darkened landscape, a shadowy crowd of figures and the caption “Heaven isn’t quite what it seems.” Now, we know this is all connected to the video for “Dying to Love,” which a press release confirms was directed by Bad Omens vocalist Noah Sebastian and visual collaborator Nico. Together, they crafted a clip that find the band performing “deep within the pit of a condemned brutalist structure” for a group of “ominous spectators.” A second plotline finds the aforementioned man “wandering through an endless labyrinth of darkness.” As for the track, it has Sebastian employing a heavenly falsetto, intimate whispers and a hellacious guttural scream as he coasts above Bad Omens’ heightened, chorus-effect heavy arrangement.” (Revolver

“Ace Frehley, the founding guitarist for the rock band KISS, has died at age 74. His death was confirmed in a statement from his family. “We are completely devastated and heartbroken,” the statement said. “In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth. We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others.” (ABC7)

DAYSEEKER Share “Crawl Back To My Coffin”

Dayseeker drop cinematic video for
“Crawl Back To My Coffin”

New album
Creature In The Black Night
arrives October 24, 2025

Southern California’s DAYSEEKER  Rory Rodriguez [vocals], Gino Sgambelluri [guitar], Ramone Valerio [bass], and Zac Mayfield [drums] — have shared the epic and cinematic video for “Crawl Back to My Coffin,” the latest single from their new album Creature In the Black Night. The album arrives on Friday, October 24 via Spinefarm

Watch the Jensen Noen-directed video here.

“‘Crawl Back To My Coffin’ is a metaphor for love that hurts you when you’re guarded and causes your walls to go up even further,” says Rodriguez. “The excitement in meeting someone new when you’re ‘dead’ and feeling like they bring you back to life only to feel pain and wish you had never left your grave at the end of it.”

The accompanying, utterly gorgeous, and darkly romantic visual feels like a mini movie. The action unfolds, appropriately, in a graveyard. It’s as though you’re outside the gates of the cemetery, watching the story move.

Produced by Daniel Braunstein (Spiritbox, Silent Planet) and mixed by Zakk Cervini (Blink-182, Bring Me The Horizon, Lorna Shore), the album is Dayseeker’s most immersive and intentional record to date — eerie, cinematic, and threaded with a dark (and sexy) emotional current.

In other Dayseeker news, the album’s lead single “Pale Moonlight” has landed at No. 9 — and it continues to climb — on the radio charts, marking the band’s first-ever Top 10 track.

While not a concept album in the traditional sense, Creature in the Black Night exhibits thematic cohesion, from its shadowy visual identity, Grim Reaper iconography, and ominous atmosphere, to how its songs unfold like chapters. “There’s a horror-inspired vibe that took hold early on,” Rodriguez explains. “It wasn’t planned. But once it started showing up in the songs, we leaned into it.”

Fans expecting a sorrowful descent into depression might be surprised — Creature In The Black Night has sharper edges, heavier riffs, and a newfound sense of clarity. “There was this idea that we’d get more and more commercial over time,” Rodriguez says. “But I think the opposite happened — we’re riffing more, I’m screaming more. And it feels good. It feels honest.”

Dayseeker hasn’t just evolved. They’ve ascended.

ABOUT DAYSEEKER:
Sad rock. That’s usually how frontman Rory Rodriguez describes it to curious newcomers.  But there’s more to Dayseeker than melancholy. Formed in Southern California and forged in adversity, Dayseeker evolved from post-hardcore upstarts into one of the most emotionally resonant and stylistically agile bands in heavy music today. Their songs don’t just process grief, heartbreak, and trauma — they transform them into something magnetic, powerful, and ultimately empowering. Since 2012, this spirit has defined the band, which prioritizes emotional truth over trends, connecting through authentic passion, sonic innovation, and lyrical vulnerability. 2019’s Sleeptalk marked a creative turning point — a dreamy, immersive reintroduction that saw the band doubling down on melody, atmosphere, and introspection. That shift continued with 2022’s Dark Sun, a devastatingly personal album shaped by the death of Rodriguez’s father. Dayseeker graced the cover of Outburn and drew enthusiastic praise from Alternative Press and alt-rock radio. The profound resonance of the band’s music with fellow outsiders worldwide is evident in their 600 million+ streams. And it’s palpable at every show, from sold-out headlining runs in theaters to tours with Pierce The Veil, Bad Omens, and Ice Nine Kills.

PUSCIFER Announces New Album “Normal Isn’t”; North American Tour

Puscifer Return
With First New Album In Five Years,
Normal Isn’t, Out February 6, 2026

North American Tour Spring 2026
New Single “Self Evident” Out Now

Puscifer, the multi-dimensional band featuring Maynard James Keenan, Mat Mitchell and Carina Round releases Normal Isn’t, their first new album in over five years, on Feb. 6 via Puscifer Entertainment/Alchemy Recordings/BMG. The record channels the post-punk influences that shaped the members’ early musical experiences while pushing into darker, more guitar-driven territory.

“We’re definitely leaning into our early influences,” Keenan shares. “It’s the place where goth meets punk. It’s where I came from.”

The band previews the 11-song collection with the release of “Self Evident” and its accompanying video (https://youtu.be/NfQb5-NEyr8), filmed during a special August performance at Exchange L.A., where the group previewed the album in full for an intimate crowd of fans.

Written and recorded across Arizona, Los Angeles, and on the road during last year’s Sessanta tour, Normal Isn’t blends the dark electronics and sharp humor Puscifer is known for with a more spontaneous creative process. “From the outset, we had discussed an element of rawness and edge, which guitar brings,” shares Mitchell, who co-produced the album. “We got rid of the guard rails and made the music more aggressive.”

For Keenan, this release represents a new approach to songwriting. While he’s always been deeply involved in shaping Puscifer’s sound, this time he set-up his own digital recording system and built full song ideas before presenting them to Mat and Carina.

That shift gives the music fresh immediacy, one that Round says changed the dynamic in the studio. “Instead of just saying, ‘I want this to sound like Fleetwood Mac on cocaine if they had a baby with PJ Harvey,’ Maynard was showing us his intention, which was really cool,” she explains. “In Puscifer, any idea can totally change without any preciousness, and everybody is on board – not unlike an insane asylum. We found each other because we’re demented in a symbiotic way.”

Normal Isn’t reflects this time we are living in,” Keenan adds. “As storytellers and artists, our job is to observe, interpret, and report. We take in our environment and share what we see, and what we see around us does not appear normal. Not by a long shot.”

Contributors to the new collection include Greg Edwards (bass), Gunnar Olsen (drums), and Sarah Jones (drums) with guests Tony Levin (bass on “Normal Isn’t” and “Seven One”), Danny Carey (drums on “Seven One”) and Mr. Ian Ross (father of Atticus Ross, who narrates “Seven One”).

Normal Isn’t is available now for pre-order and pre-saves (https://Puscifer.lnk.to/NormalIsnt), including multiple limited-edition vinyl variants: standard black, indie retail orange swirl, a Puscifer.com exclusive black ice and clear with black splatter, and a Queen B Vinyl Café fruit punch in tan with black and white splatter. The album is also available on CD, cassette, and digitally.

Puscifer has simultaneously announced a North American tour in support of the album, kicking off on March 20 in Las Vegas and closing at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, with stops at New York’s Terminal 5 and Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado.
