Megadeth opened their set with “Sweating Bullets” on the main stage on day one at Chicago Open Air. The band just recently finished their tour with Meshuggah who also performed at the festival. I’ve seen Megadeth perform several times and each time I see them it sticks out in my mind that Dave Mustaine is the definition of someone who loves being a guitarist.

Body Count turned up the intensity at Chicago Open Air. On arguably the most attended day of the festival, Ice T and company wasted no time in getting loud by covering “Raining Blood” by Slayer (turned into a mix in “Raining In Blood/Postmortem”). Hell or Highwater opened up the Main Stage on day one of Chicago Open Air performing songs from their debut Vista. The set included singer Brandon Saller going into the crowd and then carrying the band’s guitarists on his shoulders while performing a song.
