Supporting HELLYEAH, Kyng have been on tour promoting their latest album Breathe In The Water from 2016.  I had recently seen Kyng in Chicago last month at Chicago Open Air.  What I noticed at performances is that Kyng is about the music.  There isn’t a gimmick or distracting presentation, it’s about the sound and making something loud and impressive.  For a three piece band to make their names doing that in today’s gimmick filled market is quite a feat.

You can watch the music video for Kyng’s “Breathe In The Water” below.  Scroll below the video and click on any photo to open the gallery for Kyng’s set in Jacksonville.

One of the most anticipated albums in rock history…should not have turned out like this.

Monster Treasure Announce New LP: ‘II’, Due Oct 6th

Monster Treasure Announce New LP: II’, Due Oct 6th

Click Here Watch The New Music Video For “Leave” Now!

Monster Treasure were introduced last year with their self-titled debut album, which was released via Leisure & District. Now the Northern California band is gearing up to release their LP, II, which will also be going through Leisure & District on October 6th this year on CD, digital download and rainbow splatter vinyl. A shower of fuzz, punk rock, and lugubrious despondence, II takes Monster Treasure’s sonic dreamy grunge and soul baring lyrics further than ever before. Full of scuzzed up riffs and otherworldly melody, it’s almost impossible to listen to the full record without hitting repeat multiple times on multiple songs.

Today, the band has partnered with DIYMag.com to premiere a video for the new single “Leave.” Watch the video now at http://bit.ly/2hqSYX1

Of the first track to be revealed “Leave,” vocalist/guitarist Briana Granados says: “Can you believe it, it’s another break-up song.  When a person treats you like shit, you might start to wonder if it’s your own fault and what you may have done wrong but sometimes things just aren’t meant to be.”

Imagine Blondie rocking out an unknown Nirvana cover at CBGB’s in the early 80s before grunge even existed and you might be halfway there. Monster Treasure will perform a handful of shows in August/September before heading to Europe.

Monster Treasure Tour Dates:

Aug 24 – Oakland, CA – Octopus Literary Salon

Aug 25 – Portland, OR – The Know

Aug 26 – Vancouver, BC – TBA

Aug 27 – Seattle, WA – House Show

Sep 30 – Sacramento, CA

Enter Shikari Announce New Album The Spark – Watch New Music Video For “Live Outside”

Enter Shikari Announce New Album The Spark

Set For Release on September 22, 2017

Last night, ENTER SHIKARI announced the release of highly anticipated new album THE SPARK on September 22, 2017, with a surprise show for fans in London at the Borderline and a reveal of the first single “Live Outside” as Hottest Record In The World on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show. Their next London show will be the 10,000 capacity Alexandra Palace on November 25th as part of their 2017 Arena tour.

The Spark is an ambitious, inspiring piece of work that poignantly reflects their legendary career rise to have become one of the biggest and most exciting bands the UK has ever seen. Following four seminal albums of which three have been Top 10 overseas, The Spark is produced by David Kosten (Everything Everything, Bat For Lashes), and is Shikari’s most melodic and personal album to date; a soundtrack to our tumultuous world, a record for everyone who’s filled with frustration but hasn’t lost the capacity for hope.

The spark is a new connection, a new beginning,” says maverick frontman Rou Reynolds. “It can be short and insignificant, but it can create something so significant. The spark is that light at the end of the tunnel – when everything seems to be falling apart, but you’re able to see some sort of path out of the dark.”

In 2015, the ground started to fall from under Rou Reynolds’ feet. He had been having occasional panic attacks for years, but hadn’t put a name to the problem until that brutal summer. Frayed by touring and heavy professional expectations, he started self-medicating, which backfired massively.

The world was also spinning on its axis. Brexit. Trump. Terrorism. The steady dismantling of the NHS. The biting effects of austerity. The kind of social issues that have been Enter Shikari’s lifeblood for almost a decade now.

THE SPARK – Tracklisting
1. The Spark
2. The Sights
3. Live Outside
4. Take My Country Back
5. Airfield
6. Rabble Rouser
7. Shinrin-yoku
8. Undercover Agents
9. The Revolt Of The Atoms
10. An Ode To Lost Jigsaw Pieces (in two movements)
11. The Embers

Discrepancies Release Official Music Video for “Art of War” Off of Debut Album, ‘The Awakening’

Discrepancies Release Official Music Video for “Art of War”

Off of Debut Album, ‘The Awakening’

St. Louis Rap/Rock band Discrepancies has released the Official Music Video for their single, “Art of War,” off of their 2016 debut album The Awakening. Originally premiered on Metal Underground, “Art of War” was filmed and directed by Matthew Goodman.

“‘Art of War’ is metaphor comparing love and war. It’s a story of betrayal. Being in a relationship is a war that you and your significant other fight together side by side as soldiers. Inevitably, an obstacle is thrown at you, leaving you injured. Your partner can either stick it out with you or leave you behind. In the absolute worst case, your partner joins the other side. This song is my interpretation of your soldier joining the other side.” – ATG Metcalf
