Skindred Release First Music Video For “Machine”

Big Tings” coming April 27th 2018!

Big songs, big sound, big tings!

Machine‘ is the first single from SKINDRED’s upcoming album entitled “Big Tings” – out on April 27th 2018 via Napalm Records.

The band has already released a first album appetizer in the form of a teaser for the track “Machine”. Now it’s time to unleash the full music video which features actor and stunt man Neil Chapelhow best known for his work in new films Wonder Woman, Fantastic Beasts and where to find them, The Commuter, King Arthur and many more.

The band states:
“When we were told we were doing a video with the stunt team thats be behind the marvel films, James Bond and the Bourne films we knew we were in for a good time on the shoot! Throw in Gary from Reef and one of our fav bars in London (Big Red) and you have the ingredients for a really fun video! The idea is don’t judge a book by its cover. Skindred is inclusive. Not Exclusive. So when someone in a rock bar is being teased by some “rockers” for not being the same as them, he hits back! In a big way!”

Machine by Skindred on VEVO.

“Machine” has already been used as both the intro and outro theme to ACDC frontman Brian Johnson’s TV show ‘Cars that Rock’ Worldwide and features Reef frontman Gary Stringer lining up alongside the band’s own Benji Webbe on co-vocals and if that is not enough the single also features Motorhead/Bastard Sons guitarist Phil Campbell taking the honours on the guitar solo too!

Meanwhile SKINDRED shot some exclusive behind the scenes Studio footage while recording their new album “Big Tings” at Peter Gabriels Real World studio in the village of Box, near Bath. View the band’s album teaser HERE!

Keep your eyes and ears open for many more info and details to be unveiled soon!

A look at the top 10 best love songs in rock, from classic rock to some unexpected entries.

The Melvins Release “Pinkus Abortion Technician” on April 20; Announce 2018 Tour Dates

The Melvins return with the new album Pinkus Abortion Technician (April 20, Ipecac Recordings), featuring both ongoing Melvins’ bass player Steven McDonald (Redd Kross, OFF!) and Butthole Surfers’, and occasional Melvins’, bottom ender Jeff Pinkus on bass.

“With our upcoming release, we double your bass player with Steven McDonald AND Jeff Pinkus holding down the bottom,” explains Dale Crover. It’s an experiment in the low end of the aural spectrum where we asked ourselves, ‘would it work?’ ‘could it work??’ ‘should it work???’ The answers were yes, yes and YES!”

“We’ve never had two bass players. We’ve had two drummers and two guitar players so it makes total sense to now have two bass players, adds Buzz Osborne. “We’ll be taking this two-prong bass attack on the road as well which should prove to be interesting. Pinkus Abortion Technician is a radically great record and was a stone groove to record. We drank a lot of coffee and enjoyed each other’s company. I like Steven and Jeff a great deal. I admire their bass playing and singing and both of them can grill a mean steak.”

Pinkus Abortion Technician tracklist:

  1. Stop Moving To Florida
  2. Embrace The Rub
  3. Don’t Forget To Breathe
  4. Flamboyant Duck
  5. Break Bread
  6. I Want To Hold Your Hand
  7. Prenup Butter
  8. Graveyard

“Stop Moving To Florida” is a medley of the James Gang’s “Stop” and Butthole Surfers’ “Moving To Florida,” the band also covers the Beatles’ “I Want To Hold Your Hand” and Butthole Surfers’ “Graveyard” on the eight-song release. Pre-orders will be announced soon.

About Doyle:
Lodi, a small borough of Bergen County, New Jersey, is just over two square miles. There’s not much to suggest that the small village would be the birthplace of a world famous, blood-soaked form of music known as horror punk. Legendary acts The MisfitsSamhain, and Danzig all have their origins in Lodi, and something monstrous indeed lurks there. The poster child and originator of the genre, himself, has once again unleashed an evil noise on an unsuspecting world: Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein’s first release, Abominator, by his eponymous band, Doyle.

Released on Doyle’s own label, Monsterman RecordsAbominator is a sonically thick and lyrically evil slab of metal that finds Doyle expanding in a logical progression upon the genre of music he helped create. Doyle’s first band, the infamous Glenn Danzig-fronted Misfits, helped create the genre of speed/thrash metal with their last album, 1983’s Earth AD/Wolf’s Blood– in fact the record has been revered as one of the blueprints for the genre by many of its most respected players, as evidenced by countless groups covering the album’s songs, not the least of which being Metallica. Abominator is not the sound of some punk guitarist gone metal- it’s the roaring return of one of extreme metal’s original architects to his blood-splattered drawing board.

Coming from a legendary band of almost mythological proportions, and having first worked with one of the most talented and respected vocalists of the century (the infamous Glenn Danzig), Doyle’s new project would need a singer with brass balls, cast-iron pipes, a suitably twisted mind, and his own vocal delivery style. Enter Alabama’s Alex Story of Cancerslug, a Southern fiend who’s sand-blasted scream opens the record, and the evil doesn’t relent until the ending growl of “Hope Hell Is Warm”, the album’s defiant closer. The man can scream and sing, and employs both styles to great effect, switching seamlessly from raw-throated roars to rough-edged, yet melodic, clean vocals. Alex’s live performances can only be described as unforgettable, disturbing and strangely addictive – a perfect complement to the already mammoth stage presence of Doyle himself.

The unmistakable sound of Doyle’s signature Annihilator guitar cuts through on every tune like a sonic fingerprint, starting with the snarling opening title track Abominator. The Annihilator’s tone is sharp as a butcher’s knife in the wrong hands and just as nasty- fans of the Misfits will recognize it right away.

On tunes like “Headhunter” and “Land of the Dead” the riffs are relentless, and if a riff could be described in emotional terms, remorseless. “Dreamingdeadgirls” brings a blackened-blues swing, and the doom-laden “Love Like Murder” shows a healthy appreciation for all things Sabbath. “Blood Stains” moves from primal sludge to ripping off-time thrash with ease. The album is just that- an album, a cohesive and well executed piece of work that takes the listener on a journey; albeit a bloody journey to places some fear to tread.

As befits songs as musically dark as Abominator‘s, the album’s lyrics are not for the faint of heart. Throughout the entire record, there is absolutely zero attempt to balance its evil with any sort of good counterpoint- penned entirely by Story (probably in blood), Abominator‘s lyrics are entirely and uncompromisingly dark. Music fans looking for feel- good anthems had best look elsewhere- those who enjoy strolling through the shadows will be greatly satisfied.

So how did this Jersey devil and crew wind up with a Dixie-bred howler? “After I had written all this music, I realized I had to get someone to sing this stuff- once I’m done recording guitars, all I can see is myself just playing that riff, ya know? That’s my thing, not lyrics and singing,” Doyle says, with typically blunt candor. “I’ve known Alex for a while, so I called him up, then sent him a bunch of the tunes. Two days later he sent me back ‘Mark of the Beast’, just like it is on the record. I said ‘That’s exactly what I want!’, and the rest is history. I only wrote the word ‘abominator’- all the rest of that stuff is Alex. He’s just crazy, man”.

It’s a match made in hell. But no metal band would be complete without a complete animal behind the drum kit. Brandon “The Crusher” Pertzborn (of Black Flag) delivers all the aggression and insanity necessary (and then some) with his exquisite musicality and showmanship.

So what can fans expect at a Doyle show?

“To get fucking pummeled, man. And then go home and ask themselves ‘What the fuck just happened to me?!?’, hahaha…” he replies with a laugh that this time, no joke about it, actually sounds evil. Loud, aggressive, and technically proficient, Doyle and crew are set to show the world how true horror metal sounds today.

So crank up Abominator until your speakers blow, check out Doyle on tour, and let the beatings begin!

Black Map Announce Surprise EP “Trace The Path” & Music Video For “Let Me Out”

Bay area trio BLACK MAP has released a surprise EP today titled Trace The Path via Entertainment One. The band also drops a music video today for their new track “Let Me Out,” (directed by Anthony J Garay) exclusively viaLOUDWIRE.COM.

“We shot this video in the backroom of a bar called Homestead in San Francisco which was first opened all the way back in 1902. 5 years ago, Mark and I were having beers at this very bar and decided that we should start a band together, so this space was kind of the inception of Black Map,” says vocalist and bassist Ben Flannagan. “We thought that it would be fitting to return to that spot and film the video for ‘Let me Out.'”

Trace The Path is available on all streaming platforms and digital outlets starting today.

The new EP serves as the follow-up to the band’s critically acclaimed In Droves LP which was released in 2016. Revolver Magazine said it “combined chunky, post-hardcore riffing and big-bottom bass lines with plenty of melody and atmosphere.” PROG Magazine called it a “strong second LP from progressive supergroup.”

The band is headed out as main support for labelmates POP EVIL on the “2018 Music Over Words Tour” and will do a few dates supporting 10 Years following this run in April. All dates can be found below.

After the release of In Droves, the band went on to play over 100 shows in support. Black Map was used to playing the club scene before but soon found themselves on stage at mainstream American rock festivals. In 2017 the band performed at Chicago Open Air, Aftershock, Rock Allegiance, Louder Than Life and Rise Above festivals. Black Map was also proud to be nominated for “Best New Artist” at the 2017 Loudwire Music Awards.

During their time on the road, the band did not slow down their creative flow. On the bus and in dressing rooms the band hashed out new ideas, riffs, and lyrics that quickly amounted to more than a few completed songs. The band booked some studio time in between festivals with producer Mike Watts in Long Island, NY and got to work while recording one more song with longtime collaborator Aaron Hellam in Oakland upon their return home.

Singer Ben Flanagan says “It was a beautiful challenge to put only four songs out at once in EP form and have them not only stand on their own but also work together and really say something and be powerful and meaningful.”

As they continue forward, ever united in that original pureness of intentionality, Black Map covers bigger ground. Bursts of ambiance and mellow contemplation compliment the broadly shaped melodic noise. Unafraid experimentation gives way to a strong dichotomy, to new elements, all within that original structure of Black Map’s monster riffing.

Sonic treasure hunters who study Black Map will find themselves transported to the spirit of the early 90s rock resurgence when bands jettisoned the superficial fluff of the previous decade without wandering too far into dense pretension and delivered authentic and heavy music. Black Map combine flourishes of beauty alongside the bombast and a modern sensibility that nevertheless will not sacrifice its raw realness.

Corey Taylor Performs “Fashion” For The Howard Stern Tribute To David Bowie

COREY TAYLOR PERFORMS “FASHION”

FOR THE HOWARD STERN TRIBUTE TO DAVID BOWIE

TRIBUTE SPECIAL SET TO PREMIERE FEBRUARY 9TH

AT 10:00PM EST ON SIRIUS XM’S HOWARD 101

Slipknot / Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor will share a very special performance of David Bowie’s “Fashion” this Friday, February 9th during The Howard Stern Tribute to David Bowie.  The one-of-a-kind musical tribute hosted by his longtime producer Tony Visconti will feature 25 unique artists interpreting the innovative and timeless music of David Bowie.  The Howard Stern Tribute to David Bowie airs Friday, February 9th at 10:00PM EST on SiriusXM’s Howard 101.  For more details please visit http://strn.it/igofza.

Taylor commented on the special and Bowie’s immense influence stating, “I’ve been a Bowie fan since I could walk. He is so iconic, he’s basically his own genre now. I chose ‘Fashion’ because when I first heard it, I was blown away by how much groove was in it and the attitude. This is my spin. It’ll never touch the original, but I hope you all like it.”

Taylor is set to spend 2018 on tour with Stone Sour, who are currently traversing North America on a co-headline run alongside Halestorm (see attached itinerary). The tour finds Stone Sour celebrating their new album HYDROGRAD, which arrived earlier this year debuting at #1 on three Billboard charts: “Top Current Albums,” “Top Rock Albums,” and “Top Hard Rock Albums.”  HYDROGRAD also debuted at #8 on the “Billboard 200,” marking the band’s fifth consecutive Top 10 debut on that chart.  Furthermore, HYDROGRAD debuted at #5 in the U.K. (the band’s highest debut ever in that country), #2 in Australia (highest debut ever), and was Top 5 in Germany, Japan, and Switzerland. The album features, “Rose Red Violent Blue (This Song Is Dumb & So Am I),” which is closing in on Top 10 at Active Rock Radio, and the smash “Song #3”, which was #1 for five straight weeks on U.S. Active Rock Radio chart.  For tour dates and more information on Stone Sour please visit www.stonesour.com.

2017 was a whirlwind year for Taylor who released his new book, America 51: A Probe into the Realities That Are Hiding Inside “The Greatest Country in the World, in which he examines the rotting core of America, evaluating everything from politics and race relations to modern family dynamics, millennials, and “man buns” through his signature humorous lens.  Furthermore, Taylor also released, “Live In London,” capturing an intimate sold-out performance at London’s Koko. The full concert, which is available at www.thecoreytaylor.com, sees Taylor playing through fan favorites from both Slipknot and Stone Sour along with a Q&A and covers of artists such as Grateful Dead, Van Morrison, Kiss, Buzzcocks, REM and The Cure. A Perfect Circle Release Eat The Elephant on 4/20/2018 – Stream New Single “TalkTalk” Here

A Perfect Circle release Eat The Elephant, the band’s fourth full-length album and first since 2004’s eMOTIVe, on April 20 via BMG.

The album arrives following years of anticipation and speculation, which reached a fever pitch as the outfit helmed by Maynard James Keenan and Billy Howerdel launched their Fall 2017 tour with the release of “The Doomed”.

The band then ushered in the new year with the debut of the contemplative song, “Disillusioned”

“Although I’m extremely excited to finally be completing this album after a 14-year hiatus,” explains Keenan. “I’m actually more excited that its intentional release date is serving a greater purpose. The 20th of April is Carina Round’s birthday. She is a dear friend who is extremely difficult to shop for. Pressure off. Of course, I must also note that the potheads are gonna be thrilled that this album comes out on 4-20. May it serve as a glorious soundtrack to accompany all of the giggling and vexing sounds of nibbling and snacking. Fingers crossed, Cheech & Chong will be proud.”

“Demos are these precious ideas that you love in their initial state,” adds Howerdel. “Then you collaborate, invite other ideas, and watch them progress. That’s the dynamics and growth of a great record. I feel we’ve made a great record.”
