One thing I’ve always loved about seeing Trivium live is that they know how to get the crowd going. Whether that’s Matt telling people to open the pit or the entire band just shredding for five minutes straight, the band always gets movement out of everyone. Their set featured songs from the band’s latest album The Sin And The Sentence and also opened with that title track. It was a good homecoming for Florida’s own metal band.

*Festival Appearance
Stone Sour started back on the road at Welcome To Rockville after two months off. The band is about to head off on the festival circuit for Monster Energy’s World Loudest Month, then heading to a European tour, then later this year supporting Ozzy Osbourne on No More Tours 2 (which is the best name ever). The band closed the Metropolitan stage with a new setlist starting with “Whiplash Pants” and it definitely had a heavier feel through the whole night. Tons of confetti and inflatable tubemen were also present.

Performing on the day of album release for When Legends Rise, Godsmack closed out the Metropolitan stage on day one of Welcome To Rockville. This was the third time I had seen Godsmack live and they have stepped up their live presentation with more pyro and a riser. During the performance of “Voodoo” there was a constant spray of fire throughout the song. Along with the now standard duel drum solo (drum-off?) the band featured many of their new songs and are about to go on a co-headline tour with Shinedown.

Today, Australian metal masters Parkway Drive unleash a new song and video for “Prey”. The track is from the band’s sixth studio album, Reverence, out May 4 on Epitaph.
In the vital and volatile “Prey”, Parkway Drive channel their furious energy into thrashing rhythms and ferocious vocal work while delivering deeply infectious melodies. “Prey” is a gang-vocal-driven anthem that unfolds in both punishing riffs and intricate guitar lines.
Reverence is the band’s most sonically adventurous album and the most personal from the Byron Bay group. With its barrage of heart-shredding anthems, the album was closely informed by a series of tragedies the band had endured over the past few years, including the untimely loss of two loved ones. “We took stock of what we had and realized what actually mattered. What we went through was horrendous,” says frontman Winston McCall.
“I hope Reverence is the kind of album that redefines what people expect of us, in the sense that you can now expect the unexpected. This time around we’ve taken more risks, and I don’t think we’ve ever sounded more interesting,” says McCall.
Produced by longtime Parkway Drive sound engineer George Hadjichristou, Reverence arrives as the follow-up to 2015’s IRE—Parkway Drive’s most hugely successful album to date and a major force in boosting their ever-growing worldwide following. In addition to broadening the band’s sonic palette, Reverence offers up some of Parkway Drive’s most devastating songs yet.
TRACKLIST FOR REVERENCE:
Wishing Wells
Prey
Absolute Power
Cemetery Bloom
The Void
I Hope You Rot
Shadow Boxing
In Blood
Chronos
The Colour Of Leaving
Along with McCall, Parkway Drive features guitarists Luke Kilpatrick and Jeff Ling, bassist Jia O’Connor, and drummer Ben Gordon. Formed in Byron Bay in 2002, the band has released five studio albums, all on Epitaph: Killing with a Smile (2005), Horizons (2007), Deep Blue (2010), Atlas (2012), and IRE (2015). With all five albums certified gold in Australia, Parkway Drive have also released two platinum-selling DVDs (2012’s Home is for the Heartless and 2009’s Parkway Drive: The DVD).
Globally praised for their powerful live show, Parkway Drive will kick off a spring headlining run of the U.S. on Thursday April 26.

FIVE debuted at #7 on the Billboard Top Albums Chart and has accumulated over 35 million streams, led by standout tracks “California Dreaming,”“Whatever It Takes” and “Bad Moon.”The record threads together a collage of metallic instrumentation, street corner poetry, and industrial haze, and Hollywood Undead’s “penchant for experimentation, as well as a flair for pop craftsmanship, is what sets [the band] apart from some of their contemporaries” (AllMusic).

A review on Sonder, the fourth full album from England’s Tesseract.
Tesseract (often stylized as TesseracT) are a British progressive metal band from Milton Keynes, England. The band, formed in 2003, consists of Daniel Tompkins (lead vocals), Alec “Acle” Kahney (lead guitar & producer), James Monteith (rhythm guitar), Amos Williams (bass, backing vocals), and Jay Postones (drums, percussion). The band is currently signed to Kscope. They are credited as one of the bands to pioneer the djent movement in progressive metal.
Tremonti, the band comprised of Mark Tremonti on vocals/guitars, Eric Friedman on guitars/backing vocals, and Garrett Whitlock on drums, have released the first official music video for the debut single from their fourth full-length album, A Dying Machine, worldwidevia Napalm Records on June 8th. “Take You With Me,” the second song released from the album, is now available on all streaming services. The music video for the song was directed by John Deeb and can be seen at: https://youtu.be/BYwrSAZzXEc.
“Take You With Me” comes on the heels of the lyric video for the title track that was released at the beginning of April. The album, A Dying Machine, is available for pre-order at http://smarturl.it/ADyingMachine in various physical configurations as well as digitally. Fans that pre-order the album digitally will receive an instant download of the new single “Take You With Me” and “A Dying Machine” as well as 2 future tracks that will be released before the June 8thstreet date. The new single is also available on all streaming services including Apple Music and Spotify.
A Dying Machine is the first concept album of Tremonti’s career and the music is inspired by a story that came to Mark while on the last Alter Bridge tour. During that time, the epic title track “A Dying Machine” was born. The story, which is being turned into a full-length work of fiction authored by Mark Tremonti and John Shirley, takes place at the turn of the next century where humans and fabricated beings called “vessels” are trying to co-exist. Tremonti and Shirley are working on finishing the novel to release alongside the record.
Tremontiwill be hitting the road in support of A Dying Machine. The band will be playing a record release show in Orlando on May 12th at the Social. They are also confirmed for Carolina Rebellion on May 4th, the Lunatic Luau on May 5th and will be playing a headline shows in Savannah on May 2nd and Atlanta on May 7th. The band heads over to Europe in mid-June for seven weeks of touring that includes dates as direct support for Iron Maiden alongside headline shows and European festival appearances. Full tour information and ticket purchase links can be found atwww.marktremonti.com.
After two decades at the forefront of all things guitar, a GRAMMY® Award win, 40 million-plus units sold between Alter Bridge, Creed, and his eponymous Tremonti, and countless other accolades, Mark Tremonti once again summited an uncharted creative peak in 2018. For the very first time, the guitarist and singer crafted an immersive concept and accompanying novel for Tremonti’s fourth full-length album and first for Napalm Records, A Dying Machine. Since emerging in 2012, he and his bandmates—Eric Friedman [guitar, bass] and Garrett Whitlock [drums]—have built the foundation for such an ambitious statement. Their full-length debut All I Was bowed in the Top 5 of the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart and Top 30 of the Top 200. The 2015 follow-up Cauterize hit the #1 spot on the Top Rock Albums chart on iTunes when it was released. 2015 saw the frontman take home “Best Guitarist” at the Loudwire Music Awards just a year removed from his 2014 “Riff Lord” win at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods. In between sold out headline gigs and festival appearances everywhere from Rock on the Range to Shiprocked!, 2016’sDust maintained that momentum. With A Dying Machine, Tremonti reaches new heights like never before.
