Pittsburgh hardcore/metal outfit 156/Silence has partnered today with DecibelMagazine.com to reveal a video for the title track from their forthcoming record, Undercover Scumbag, which will be released on September 14th via Innerstrength Records.
“”Undercover Scumbag” was one of the first songs we wrote for the album, and the one we’ve been playing the longest live. If you’ve seen us in the past 6 months you’ve heard this song. When the intro riff was played at practice for the first time in the Summer of 2017, the rest of the song just made sense. People seem to not only connect with the raw heaviness of this track, but also the meaning behind the song as well and we’re excited to finally release it. ” – 156/Silence
156/Silence was formed in 2015 by members of various local Pittsburgh bands. What began as a softer brand of post-hardcore has evolved into a hardcore influenced metalcore band. Following the release of a few EPs, 156/Silence is cranking things up with their upcoming album. Undercover Scumbag represents the culmination of everything that is 156/Silence and their heaviest, weirdest and most dynamic album to date.
The goal of 156/Silence is the same now as it was at their inception; to create unique music with other musicians who truly care and want to do it for the rest of their lives. The band is formed by musicians who were the driving forces of their previous bands, and that’s stayed true through every single lineup change. We just want to express ourselves and create something truly memorable and unique. In the current landscape of heavy music, it can be hard to stand out, but that’s precisely what we plan to do.
Coming on the heels of the announcement of Alter Bridge’s career-defining live release Live At The Royal Albert Hall Featuring the Parallax Orchestra, the band is releasing another video from the live performance. The latest track being released, “Words Darker Than Their Wings,” is a song from the band’s 2010 ABIII album that, until those two shows in October 2017, had never been previously performed live. The longtime crowd favorite showcases the first time that Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti share lead vocal duties, something that would be repeated on “Waters Rising” from the Fortress release.
“’Words Darker Than Their Wings’ was a song that we never played before ever and its been one of our favorites, especially me and Scott Phillips. That’s been one of our top 3 Alter Bridge songs since we wrote it and its just one of those songs that we have been trying and trying and trying to play live and Myles is always kind of pushing back about it and finally, you know with this orchestra he [Myles] said this is the perfect time to do it. We did and it was the biggest reaction of both nights,” explains Mark Tremonti in the full-length movie of the concert.
After 14 years performing together, five full-length studio albums, and countless sold-out shows around the globe, Alter Bridge is releasing the epic Live At The Royal Albert Hall on September 7th via Napalm Records. The live album and DVD was recorded in October 2017 when the band performed two sold-out shows at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall backed by the 52-piece Parallax Orchestra led by conductor Simon Dobson. Live At The Royal Albert Hall is a 21-song collection that features some of Alter Bridge’sbiggest hits, fan favorites and even a couple of rarities. Songs like “Before Tomorrow Comes,” “Ghost Of Days Gone By,” “The Last Hero,” and “Broken Wings” all find new life with the unique arrangements presented by Dobson and the Parallax Orchestra performing with the band. The pre-order for the release is live and fans can order various audio and video configurations including Blu-Ray, DVD, CD and Vinyl as well as other unique bundles with exclusive content. The pre-order is currently live here: http://smarturl.it/LiveFromTRAH and at www.alterbridge.com. Avenged Sevenfold Withdraws From Lineup Due To Medical Issue
Tickets On Sale Now For The 5th Annual Festival
Friday, September 28, Saturday, September 29 & Sunday, September 30
At Champions Park In Louisville, KY
Louder Than Life has announced that Seattle alt rockers Alice In Chains will be joining the lineup for the 5th annual festival, which comes shortly after the release of the band’s new album, Rainier Fog. They join previously announced artists Nine Inch Nails, Deftones,Godsmack, and many more for the festival, which takes place Friday, September 28, Saturday, September 29, and Sunday, September 30 at Champions Park in Louisville, KY.
Avenged Sevenfold had to withdraw from the festival due to a medical issue. Vocalist M. Shadows issued the following statement about the cancellation of their latest tour:
“There is no good way to start out a note containing bad news but here it is. After Europe I came down with a terrible viral infection that rendered me voiceless. I tried my best to take care of the situation with voice rest, medication and doctor visits but my voice was only getting worse.
After a week of steroids the swelling went down enough to see the cause of the problem. A blood blister has formed on my vocal folds and is preventing them from vibrating properly. In short, I can’t sing anything at the moment and the more I attempt to the more damage is being done. Luckily, as of now the doctors feel that 3 months of no singing and voice rest should get my cords back on track.
Unfortunately, this means we will have to cancel all tour dates at the moment.
Decisions like this weigh on me very heavily. It’s a tour I was looking forward to very much. I want to apologize to the fans who have spent their time and money booking travel arrangements and accommodations. I also want to apologize to our crew and the other bands who were depending on this tour. None of these things are lost on me. Just know that I have exhausted every possible solution in trying to get out there and perform for you. It just simply can’t happen at the moment. We have a few things coming down the pipe soon that should be fun so we hope you look out for those.
Again, I am deeply sorry and hope to see you all soon.
In silence,
M.”
Louder Than Life has also announced a few additional lineup changes. Skyharbor andAnemic Royalty join the bill in place of Bad Wolves and Spirit Animal. The full performance schedule, reflecting these changes, will be released in the coming weeks. For more information, visit www.LouderThanLifeFestival.com.
Louder Than Life is produced by Los Angeles-based Danny Wimmer Presents, a producer of some of the biggest rock festivals in America, including Rock On The Range, Bourbon & Beyond, Monster Energy Welcome To Rockville, Monster Energy Aftershock, Monster Energy Carolina Rebellion, Chicago Open Air, Monster Energy Rock Allegiance, Northern Invasion and more.
Louder Than Life 2018 partners and sponsors include: Monster Energy, f.y.e., The Music Experience, Miller-Coors, Jack Daniel’s, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Robert Mondavi Private Select, Black Box Wines, Caduceus Wines, Diesel Cigars, SWFTCharge, Kentucky Lottery, Roadrunner Records, Fxck Cancer, Take Me Home, The Louisville Water Company and more.
“There’s an unhinged and feral energy that pulses through these nine songs and goes beyond the considerable demented racket that the Drones are able to conjure at their finest: it’s less full-frontal sonic assault and more auditory guerilla warfare, full of surprising textures and scrappy tones.” – The Quietus
Tropical F*** Storm, featuring ex-The Drones’ Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin with fellow Australian indie noisemakers Lauren Hammel (High Tension) and Erica Dunn (Harmony/Mod Con), release their debut album, A Laughing Death in Meatspace, in North America on Oct. 26 via Joyful Noise Recordings.
The album, which is available for pre-orders via Joyful Noise’s website (http://joyfulnoi.se/ALDIMS), is already being hailed as a potential best of for 2018 with both The Quietus and Australia’s Double J including the album in their best of 2018 (so far) coverage. Double J said, “Filled with the sort of acerbic wit only Gareth Liddiard can muster, this is the most essential, moody, pulverising, funny, off-key, venomous Antipodean post-punk album of the year.” Noisey Australia, in an extensive interview with Liddiard and Dunn point to the band’s “anarchic energy” and claim we’re witnessing “the birth of a new rock powerhouse,” while Liddiard’s laid bare in a discussion with The Guardian, touching on the societal influences that imbue the album’s lyrics, from the societal fallout from recent technological advances to the hopes for a new generation of rebellion, leaving the revered British paper to declare Meatspace “a glorious detour into deconstructed rock music, reflective of social malaise and unafraid to tell it like it is.”
“The band and myself are quietly confident that the US release of ALDIMS will bridge America’s political divide and usher in a millennia-long age of peace and prosperity,” said Liddiard.
On July 29th, the Arizona-based band Dropout Kings performed as direct support to Otep on her 2018 summer tour. It was a rainy day in St. Louis, MO., but that didn’t keep people from flooding Fubar to see the show. The energy from the moderately sized crowd was high as the 6 piece band took to the stage.
Dropout kings had a unique sound of their own as they played songs with a nu-metal/rap feel. The music was a refreshing change from the same recycled tones that typically come from the nu-metal genre. Dropout King’s opened the set with their newly released single “Going Rogue”, featuring Landon Tewers of The Plot In You. Vocalists Adam Ramey and Eddie Wellz commanded the crowd with ease, even jumping in the pit a few times to get close to fans.
You would have never known this was their first tour with the enthusiasm they brought to the stage. Each member had a unique stage presence, slightly different from the others but in a way that made them fit well together. They ended the show with just as much power as they started, showing that they truly have a passion for what they do.
Dropout Kings are continuing their tour with Otep. You can find tour dates and info on their upcoming album on their Facebook page. Click on any photo below to open the gallery and scroll below the photos to watch the music video for “Scratch & Claw”.
I don’t know what game this is but it sounds disgusting.
Crazy Town is an American rap rock band, formed in 1995 by Bret Mazur and Seth Binzer. Crazy Town is best known for their 2000 hit single, “Butterfly“, which reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and helped their debut album, The Gift of Game (1999) sell over 1.5 million units. Recorded earlier this year in Baltimore, MD with producer Matt Squire (Panic! At The Disco, Ariana Grande, Underoath), MISERY is the long-awaited follow-up to The Amity Affliction’s acclaimed fifth studio album,THIS COULD BE HEARTBREAK. That LP made a spectacular chart debut upon its 2016 arrival, entering among the top 30 on the U.S. SoundScan/Billboard 200 while also charting at #1 in their native Australia – The Amity Affliction’s third consecutive time topping the ARIA Album Chart.
THIS COULD BE HEARTBREAK – which includes the singles/videos, “This Could Be Heartbreak,” “I Bring The Weather With Me,” “All F*cked Up,” and “Fight My Regret” – earned ecstatic acclaim and press attention along with its popular success, including a cover feature in Rolling Stone Australia.Kerrang! awarded the album four Ks, hailing it as the band’s “personal-best” while noting, “This is heartbreak, and The Amity Affliction have rendered it more magnificently than ever.” “(The Amity Affliction’s) ear for an unstoppable melody demands respect,” declared Metal Hammer, while Bluntnoted, “(THIS COULD BE HEARTBREAK) strikes from a darker angle…its melancholy burns fervent.” “Synth-soaked tracks and lyrical masterpieces dominate the album,” raved Vulture Magazine, “showing the Amity boys have an ability to provide a definitive yet ever-evolving sound, tying in new fans while still catering to the old.” “(THIS COULD BE HEARTBREAK) glistens with vivid memories and brutal honesty that is unapologetic,” wrote Outburn, while Alternative Press summed it best: “The Amity Affliction are at their strongest.”
THIS COULD BE HEARTBREAK followedThe Amity Affliction’s ARIA platinum-certified #1 album, LET THE OCEAN TAKE ME, which proved an international breakthrough for the group. LET THE OCEAN TAKE ME marked The Amity Affliction’s second consecutive time topping the ARIA Album Chart following 2012’s gold certified CHASING GHOSTS. More recently, the band released SEEMS LIKE FOREVER, the #1 ARIA gold certified documentary chronicling The Amity Affliction’s history up through their epic “Let The Ocean Take Me World Tour,” which saw the band performing in front of sold-out crowds around the globe, including shows at New York City’s Irving Plaza and London’s KOKO. Furthermore, the single, “Shine On” came in at #25 on Triple J’s “Hottest 100” of 2016. For more than a decade, The Amity Affliction has confronted the very darkest edges of man’s existence through their music and with SEVERED TIES, 2008’s full-length debut, and 2010’s ARIA gold-certified follow-up, YOUNGBLOODS, The Amity Affliction instantly established themselves as leading force in the heavy music world.
The Amity Affliction is Joel Birch (vocals), Ahren Stringer (bass, vocals), and Dan Brown (guitar).
