Astronoid Release Self-Titled Album Feb. 1; Debut “I Dream In Lines” Video

ASTRONOID RELEASE SELF-TITLED, SOPHOMORE ALBUM ON FEB. 1
BAND GIVES FANS AN EARLY PREVIEW WITH “I DREAM IN LINES” VIDEO

Astronoid, the Boston-based outfit who cemented themselves as one of heavy music’s most promising new bands with the 2016 album AIR, release their sophomore full-length, Astronoid, on Feb. 1 via Blood Music.

The band is giving fans an early preview of the eagerly-awaited new album with a video for “I Dream In Lines”.

“After the completion of our sophomore album, we feel we have ventured further out of our comfort zone and created something special,” explains singer/guitar player Brett Boland. “The album encapsulates all the changes in our lives over the past couple of years. Astronoid is a testament to who we are as people, the music that consumes us, and the love in our lives. These songs hold a special place in our hearts and we hope that others can find the same solace in them that we have.”

Astronoid’s debut full-length, AIR, was one of the most talked about, and unexpected, releases of 2016. Consequence of Sound, in their year-end best of coverage, said the band “have taken post-metal to stratospheric new heights.” Noisey said AIR is “the happiest dream thrash record you’ll ever hear” while numerous outlets including LoudwireStereogumMetal Injection, and Invisible Oranges, championed the young Northeastern four-piece by placing the album on their year-end best-of lists. MetalSucks declared the nine-song album “an instant classic.” In the months that followed, the band joined Tesseract, Periphery, Animals As Leaders, Ghost, and Zeal & Ardor for multiple North American tours.

Astronoid pre-orders, which include an instant download of “I Dream In Lines” as well as multiple colored vinyl packages, are available now via districtlines.com/Astronoid and blood-music.com/store.

Best.  Birthday.  Ever.

As you can see, this video is heavily clipped in order to get it on YouTube.  WMG blocks the video worldwide if I try to upload bigger parts of it.  I’m still working on the editing/posting part in order to get more of these online.

In any case…yeah, best birthday ever.

Venom Announce New Studio Album Storm The Gates; Available December 14, 2019

VENOM ANNOUNCE NEW STUDIO ALBUM STORM THE GATES
ALBUM OUT DECEMBER 14 VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS

Venom, the unholy trinity of CronosRage, and Dante, celebrate a massive 10 years together with new studio album, STORM THE GATES — a 13-track outing for blasphemers, fornicators, and the forever cursed  — set for release via Spinefarm Records on December 14. The CD/digital versions of the record will be available from this date, with a deluxe double vinyl package following early in 2019.

STORM THE GATES is a classic call-to-arms from a legendary band who can legitimately be classed as both original and genre-defining.

There is nothing like Venom. Just Venom.

Since 2009, this latest incarnation of the group has had a clear vision of who they are and where they want to go. They steadfastly refuse to compromise or waiver in their beliefs, building on the signature style and sound established by Cronos back in 1979. As both artist and producer, this iconic frontman — and Venom’s beating black heart — effectively opened the gates (of hell) for a whole new brand of metal, genuinely changing the game with an intensity never before seen or heard.

Mixing the caustic energy and serrated edge of punk with the volume and bombast of metal, adding a life-threatening amount of pyro, then brutally dragging the whole thing through a tangled hedge of thorns, Venom has been responsible for some of the guitar world’s most revered – and feared – compositions. Titles to be whispered in darkened, cob-webbed rooms.

There was metal and then there was Black Metal. Venom Metal.

Now approaching the band’s 40th anniversary, Venom have matured into a true force of nature — louder, faster, nastier and ready to unleash the hounds of hell with STORM THE GATES, studio album No. 15. Produced by Cronos himself, this is the raw sound of a band who don’t need tricks of technology to make their point. The titles tell it all: “Bring Out Your Dead (the lead single/video), “100 Miles To Hell,” “Destroyer,” “Beaten To A Pulp,” “Dark Night (Of The Soul)” — simply, there is no mellowing in spirit, nothing less than un-tempered rage and roar.

As Cronos launches into album opener “Bring Out Your Dead,” spitting out the lyrics like a demon-summoning incantation, one thing is abundantly clear; this could be no other band. We’re walking through a different landscape here, a world of dark intent underpinned by a selection of songs designed to have heads bangin’ and spinnin’ (The Exorcist– style) in equal measure…

“We always say that a song has to find itself, has to develop,” exclaims Cronos. “We’ve had nearly three years with these compositions, speeding some up, slowing some down, changing the lyrics, adding breaks, moving verses… that’s how songs grow, and that’s how you end up writing a better album. That’s why I don’t believe in releasing a record every year – you can’t possibly have let those songs develop to their full potential. These albums are going to be around a lot longer than I am, so they need to be able to stand up for themselves. With an album every year, I think you end up with two or three good songs and then a load of shit, and I certainly dont want to release that sort of album!”

In 2018, Venom stand, as always, atop a pile of crushed skulls, wielding blood-stained sonic weapons designed to repel all that is weak and watered-down. There is real integrity here, a defined set of values, plus of course the ongoing ability to create music so worshipped by their Legions of followers worldwide.

The songs themselves are drawn from such passion, based on audience chants, insane mosh-pits of excitement, and that feeling of being part of something enduring and special.

No other line-up of the band has come close to what CronosRage and Dante can deliver.

F**k the pretenders, Venom rule the night!

Set It Off To Release “Midnight” 2/1, Announce Headline Tour, Drop Video For “Lonely Dance”

SET IT OFF TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM MIDNIGHT ON FEBRUARY 1
WATCH FUTURISTIC VIDEO FOR “LONELY DANCE”
BAND TOURING THIS WINTER

Set It Off and Fearless Records are pleased to announce that the band will release its label debut, Midnight, on February 1. The album is available for pre-order here and was produced by Mike Green (Neck Deep, All Time Low, State Champs) with additional production by Brandon Paddock (Panic! At the Disco, Papa Roach, The Used, Daughtry).

The band has just shared the music video for the upbeat and effervescent new track “Lonely Dance.” Watch the clip, which takes place on a spaceship and features the band as astronauts, here.

The new video follows the previously released track “Killer In The Mirror.”

“This album is going to change the game for Set It Off and we are so happy that you are along on this ride with us,” said singer Cody Carson. “Welcome to ‘Lonely Dance,’ the anthem of the introvert, where we can all be content and not feel like a freak for just wanting to stay inside where we feel at home. We’re really excited about this song and the music video accompanied with it.”

Carson elaborated further about the visual, saying, “It’s honestly my favorite music video of ours to date. As far as the concept, how can you get more isolated than space? It was an unbelievable experience to work on a set so intricate and beautiful as that spaceship and the team behind the camera were just amazing! Not only do we have Midnight coming your way in February, but we’re also headlining Part 1 of the Midnight World Tour in North America and then swiftly following it up with Part 2 in the UK/Europe! Set It Off is BACK! New single, new music video, new album, and two new tours. Let’s continue to grow this family because it’s time to take over the world together.”

Midnight demonstrates a depth and breadth of musicianship. Carson played clarinet and guitarist Dan Clermont played trumpet on the record, while the band also incorporated live strings, live horns, and a live gospel choir into the album. Midnight also includes intricate, instrumental features by Reel Big Fish’s Matt Appleton and Issues’ Skyler Accord, as well as a vocal feature by Wayfarers.

Set It Off will also embark on a North American headline tour around album release. All dates are below.

Set It Off — comprised of Cody Carson (vocals), Dan Clermont (guitar), Zach DeWall (guitar) and Maxx Danziger (drums )— are known for creating their own original brand of pop music, infusing bold electronic elements that guide loud, driving rock instrumentations with guitar riffs as catchy as the choruses. The end result is an overall feel-good, dance-worthy vibe. Set It Off, who originated in Clearwater, Florida but are now L.A.-based, command attention and bring authenticity back to pop music in a bold and unapologetic way. The group’s last full-length release, Upside Down, was cited as one of the “Most Anticipated Albums of 2016” by Alternative Press and followed the band’s sophomore album, Duality, which debuted at No. 18 on the Billboard Independent Chart. The band’s debut full-length, Cinematics, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard South Atlantic Heatseekers Regional Chart, No. 4 on Billboard Heatseekers Chart, No. 9 on Billboard Next Big Sound Chart, and even broke into the Billboard Top 200 chart. Now, Set It Off of come to Fearless Records for their next chapter with the dynamic new single, “Lonely Dance,” which affirms the band have reached a higher level of musicianship. The new track serves as a preview to some of the band’s upcoming, most edgy and pop-driven anthems to date.

Hands Like Houses traveled thousands of miles to the U.S. for their 2018 fall headlining tour with support from Emarosa, Devour the Day, The Faim, and Arlington. The five members of Hands Like Houses hail from Canberra, Australia and are touring in support of their new album ‘-Anon’. The songs from this album have the same HLH feel, but with distinct maturation from their previous work. You can check out some of the new music here:

The show in St. Louis, Mo. started out with a VIP event for fans. VIP ticket holders had the opportunity to attend a short acoustic set by Hands Like Houses and interact on a more personal level. Fans of all ages were in attendance, a few young children ran around the venue as it started to fill for the show. The bands traveling as support for the tour fit the bill perfectly, each one having a complementary style to match the HLH rock vibe.

When Hands Like Houses took the stage, everyone packed in to get the best view possible. HLH performed many songs off of their new album and fans sang and jumped around the whole set. The band was very interactive with their fans as well as the  photographers in attendance, making for an amazing show all around!

Thrice Announce North American Tour Dates With Bring Me The Horizon

THRICE ANNOUNCE NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES WITH BRING ME THE HORIZON
PREMIERES VIDEO FOR “ONLY US” TODAY

Thrice announce that in early 2019 they will support Bring Me The Horizon on their recently announced First Love Tour. Kicking off January 23 in Nashville and wrapping up on February 16 in Las Vegas, the 17-date tour also includes Fever 333 as support.

Also today Thrice have shared the video for “Only Us,” a single from their new album Palms. Released in September, Palms is Thrice’s tenth studio album and first for Epitaph Records.

In creating the video for “Only Us,” Thrice drew inspiration from a real-life story of a psychology experiment that took place in Middle Grove, NY in 1953.  With neither the campers nor their parents aware of the experiment, researchers posed as camp counselors, split a group of 11-year-old boys into two factions, and placed them in competition in hopes of proving their theory that the kids would soon turn against each other. But despite their efforts to tear the campers apart (including interfering with the experiment by carrying out a series of “frustration exercises”), the kids ultimately stuck together and protected their friendships.

As Thrice frontman Dustin Kensrue explains, the video for “Only Us” reflects the song’s riff-heavy, synth-driven meditation on the myth of division.

“‘Only Us’ came from thinking about how we’re so easily divided into ‘us’ and ‘them,’ when really we have an inherent ability to care for those in our group, and the parameters for who falls into that group are extremely flexible,” says Kensrue. “It’s about how the things that we think separate us are actually inconsequential, and if we could broaden the idea of ‘us’ to include all people, it would help us to build a more loving and civil society.”

Cane Hill Announce “Kill the Sun” Release Out January 2019, Listen To + Watch Video For Title Track

CANE HILL ANNOUNCE KILL THE SUN
NEW RELEASE OUT JANUARY 18, 2019 ON RISE RECORDS
BAND TOURING WITH SEVENDUST THIS WINTER

New Orleans four-piece Cane Hill will release a brand new record titled Kill the Sun via Rise Records on January 18, 2019.

Listen and watch the video for the title track, which is a brilliant and unexpected artistic left turn for the band, here.

“We spent the summer working on new Cane Hill music,” the band said. “We’ve embraced the weirder and mellower side of what we do, as it’s something we think is important to our band. With that in mind, we’ve been in the studio with the incredibly talented Kris Crummett, working on music that embellishes those elements. It’s six songs of dark, twisted, and semi-acoustic beauty. We’re incredibly proud of it and can’t wait for you to hear it.”

The band continued, “We wanted to embrace some leftover emotions we’ve been dealing with since getting our shit together while exploring our own musical limitations. We made this semi-acoustic record because we needed to for ourselves — and because honestly, why the fuck not?”

Cane Hill singer Elijah Witt offered some deeper insight to the title track, saying, “We wanted our first single from this album to be as big of a curveball as possible. ‘Kill the Sun’ is as far of a departure from our usual ‘heavy metal anthem’ leadoff as we could get. Like, who knew Devin [Clark] could play the saxophone?! This track is about my constant self-sabotage; my tendency to find happiness and just as quickly finding a way to ruin it. There’s a very loud voice in my head that feeds me to the wolves I created, effectively killing any light in my life. And deep down, there’s a part of me that relishes in the misery.”

The band also recently released the digital live album Cane Hill: Live From The Bible Belt in September. The band shared two songs — “Too Far Gone” and “Singing in the Swamp” — ahead of the release. Both originally appear on the band’s last album Too Far Gone.

In other Cane Hill news, the band will hit the road again this winter supporting Sevendust. All Cane Hill dates are below.
