Underoath Drop “Bloodlust” Video

Underoath Drop “Bloodlust” Video
Band Touring Arenas With Breaking Benjamin This Spring
To Embark On Summer Tour With Korn + Alice In Chains

Grammy-nominated six-piece Underoarth have dropped the video for “Bloodlust.” Watch it here.

The song appears on the band’s latest album, Erase Me, out now via Fearless Records.

“For ‘Bloodlust,’ which picks up where ‘ihateit‘ left off, [singer] Spencer [Chamberlain] and I were chained to a pole for three hours with a stranger, who was the actress,” said drummer Aaron Gillespie. “Making this video was a really interesting process, because the song deals with a lot of deep issues and struggles. But it was so late when we were filming that we were just hysterical. The video seems so serious due to the lyrical content, but it was a night.”

Last year, Underoath notched its first-ever performance Grammy nomination in the Best Metal Performance category for “On My Teeth.” The band was previously nominated for two Grammys.

Underoath are also getting ready to embark on their first-ever arena tour in support of Breaking Benjamin later this month. The band will next hit the road this summer with Korn and Alice in Chains. All Underoath tour dates are below.

ABOUT UNDEROATH:
Underoath released Erase Me, their first album in eight years, via Fearless Records in 2018. The band notched a Grammy nomination in the Best Metal Performance category for “On My Teeth” and spent most of the year on the road in support of the album — playing countless sold-out headline shows and headlining their first-ever arena show in their Tampa hometown. Ultimately, Erase Me represents a watershed moment for the gold-selling heavy music luminaries whose inescapable influence can be felt in nearly every corner of hard rock. The album crashed the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart at #1. It sees the band refine its trend-setting but inimitable style with heavy intensity and hypnotic hooks coursing through songs, like the aforementioned “On My Teeth,” “Rapture,” “Wake Me,” and the Top 15 active rock single “ihateit,” which have cumulatively tallied over 16 million streams in a few months’ time. Underoath will spend the spring playing arenas with Breaking Benjamin.

Parting Gift Drop Video For New Song “Without Sin”

Parting Gift Release Video For “Without Sin”
New EP Ensom Out March 22nd, 2019

The UK’s Parting Gift have shared the video for “Without Sin” from their upcoming EP Ensom, out March 22 on Fearless Records. Watch the clip here.

“Without Sin” showcases a more ethereal, melody-driven facet to the Manchester band’s far-reaching and expansive sound. It’s a dreamy mix of shoegaze pop and rock. Delivering the most emotive of performances to every audience they play to, Parting Gift’s latest track conveys that intensity perfectly. “A word to the ordinary,” says vocalist Zac Vernon of the track. “A reminder that this can happen to anyone, the purest of souls. Its taint does not pick and choose and it is ruthless. The ones who pursue their self-betterment can occasionally free themselves from it and take a breather, only to see it come back stronger. However, it’s a reminder that, in spite of the darkness, it is always worth not giving in.”

The Ensom EP is a powerful statement from one of the UK’s most exciting up and coming rock talents. It paints a dark but heady picture with the band’s unique approach to sound. Vernon says, “The basis of the entire EP is the feeling of a cold, dark entity making one unable to feel anything. The darkest of dreams and visions, delusions. It is walking the thin line between what is real and what is in your mind. It is the obsession by what is seemingly out of one’s control. A sort of coping strategy for the pain it causes.”

The Manchester band previously released the single “Pale.” Watch the video here.

ENSOM TRACK LISTING:
1. “Pale
2. “03:07 (Moonlight)”
3. “Without Sin”
4. “Cold”
5. “Ensom”

PARTING GIFT ARE:
Zac Vernon — Vocals
Peter Vybiral — Guitars
Jack Dutton — Guitars
George Barnes — Drums

ABOUT PARTING GIFT:
Art is not just a one-dimensional construct. It is a multi-faceted, richly woven and engrossing prospect from whichever angle you view it. This is a philosophy that defines and inspires Manchester’s Parting Gift. Shrouded in mystery, Zac Vernon [vocals], Peter Vybiral [guitar], Jack Dutton [guitar], and George Barnes [drums] have been leaving things open to interpretation with their minimalist visual style and deeply enriching sound since their emergence in early 2017. Building up a rapturous and devoted fan base through a handful of beautifully constructed singles, including the rousing double A-side Vein & Rensing (2018), the band has since penned a deal with Fearless Records and toured with the likes of Neck Deep, Blood Youth, Holding Absence, and many others. Even at such an early stage in their journey, the band is serving as a vessel for the most human parts of existence as they look to venture deeper into what it truly means to be in this dark and confusing world.

Warbringer Announces Extensive Co-Headline Tour With Enforcer

Warbringer Announces Extensive Co-Headline Tour With Enforcer
L.A. Thrash Group Set to Perform 54 Shows In 54 Days
New Album Due Out This Fall

Los Angeles-based thrashers WARBRINGER have been road dogs since their inception, but this fall, the band will hit the road for their most grueling and extensive tour yet – a co-headline trek across the U.S. and Canada with Sweden’s Enforcer that will see the two groups play 54 shows in 54 days. The complete itinerary appears below.

This is not the first time WARBRINGER and Enforcer have shared the stage together, as the two groups previously co-headlined a successful North American tour in early 2016. Since then, both acts have hoped for another opportunity to perform together – and this fall, they’ll have 54!

“We are pleased to announce an extensive North American tour for Fall 2019,” saysWARBRINGER vocalist John Kevill. “We will be hitting the road for 54 consecutive dates with our Swedish speed metal brothers, Enforcer. Looking forward to seeing you guys again and wrecking whatever place we are in!”

WARBRINGER expects to release a new album – their second for Napalm Records – during the tour. Says Kevill, “WARBRINGER has been forging new material and will be entering the studio this summer to track a new record. We have been hard at work crafting a follow-up to 2017’s ‘Woe to the Vanquished,’ a record we are very proud of. As always, we want to keep our standard of quality as high as possible, both widening the band’s sound but still keeping the whole thing totally relentless and vicious.”

In recent weeks, WARBRINGER played two memorable sets on the 70,000 Tons Of Metal cruise and headlined a sold-out hometown show at the Whisky A Go Go. The performances continued the band’s momentum from 2018, which saw them perform at notable festivals in both their home continent (Heavy Montreal, Full Terror Fest, Frost & Fire) and abroad (Summer Breeze, Sabaton Open Air, Motorcultor). In addition, the group played a number of European shows alongside Sepultura in support of their recently-released 7-inch single “Power Unsurpassed.”

Over the past dozen years, WARBRINGER has released five acclaimed albums of intense, aggressive thrash and toured with a who’s who of metal, including Testament, Obituary, Napalm Death, Suffocation, Overkill, Kreator, Soilwork, Municipal Waste, Skeletonwitch, Nevermore, Symphony X, Iced Earth and Death Angel, among others. More information on the group’s forthcoming album will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Additionally, KEN mode have been nominated for a JUNO Award in the Metal/Hard Rock Album of the Year category. KEN mode previously won the JUNO in 2012, and have a total of four nominations under their belt. The full list of this year’s JUNO categories and nominees can be found HERE.

KEN mode will be touring in support of their JUNO-nominated album, ‘Loved,’ which was released in August 2018 via Season of Mist. The album can be streamed HERE.

Kill Everyone Now mode – an ethos legendary Black Flag frontman Henry Rollins would use to describe the band’s state of mind while taking the stage for the endless touring cycle of their genre defying classic album, ‘My War’. This proved to be the psychological foundation / attitude for the project brothers Jesse and Shane Matthewson formed in 1999 in their home of Winnipeg, Canada and that would see them spread a manic form of metal and hardcore infused with noise rock for their entire adult lives.

Cutting their teeth in the early aughts with a pair of records ‘Mongrel’ (2003) and ‘Reprisal’ (2006), KEN mode rose from underground notoriety with their JUNO award winning album ‘Venerable’ in 2011. This marked a decided shift for the band, embarking on an unrelenting touring schedule for the following five years with acts such as RUSSIAN CIRCLES, TORCHE, DEAFHEAVEN, KYLESA, REVOCATION and TODAY IS THE DAY, followed up by Season of Mist-released full lengths ’Entrench’ (2013) and ‘Success’ (2015). Those records saw the band hit a multitude of major festivals like SXSW, Hellfest Open Air, CMJ Festival, Pitchfork Festival Chicago, Hopscotch Festival, and Roadburn Festival; and even doing live sessions for renowned institutions such as BBC Radio 1 and Daytrotter.

But burnout was inevitable, and in 2016 KEN mode took a step back to regroup. Core members Shane and Jesse formed their own music business management services company, MKM Management, while bassist Scott Hamilton released records with his other bands ADOLYNE and GREYLIGHT DISTRICT. In 2017 the band began writing with a newfound focus and desire, in the most collaborative effort they have ever put together.

‘Loved’, the band’s brand new vicious full length may be the KEN mode’s quintessential statement of violence and despair made sonic. Drawing from not only the desperate noise and industrial sonics of the ‘80s and ‘90s, the band mixes in the decidedly more extreme tone and presence of death and black metal, expertly captured by Andrew Schneider’s (UNSANE, CAVE IN, DAUGHTERS) sick vision of noise and girth. ‘Loved’ represents yet another pivot point in the group’s sound, a departure from the indie/noise punk focused ‘Success’ album. The group delves deeper and darker than ever before.

‘Loved’ can be purchased at THIS LOCATION.

Line-up
Jesse Matthewson – vocals, guitar, percussion, piano
Shane Matthewson – drums
Scott Hamilton – bass, backing vocals, percussion
Kathryn Kerr – saxophone

Of Mice & Men Release “How to Survive” Video & Announce New Headline Tour Dates

Of Mice & Men Release “How To Survive” Video
Band Announces Headline Dates In April & May

Of Mice & Men have been busy working on new material with producer Josh Wilbur. Last month, the band dropped a brand new, battering ram of a song entitled “How to Survive.” They’ve just released the accompanying video, directed by Zev Deans (Denzel Curry, Ghost.)

Hinging on hard-hitting grooves and airtight riffing, the track snaps from visceral verses into an instantly chant-worthy growl of “In a world that teaches eye for an eye, I’ll show you how to survive!” It’s an instantly raw ‘n’ real, pit-stirring anthem. About the video, singer and bassist Aaron Pauley said, “We’re excited to debut our new video for ‘How to Survive,’ which we worked on with director Zev Deans. Together, we we’re able to bring the visual and story elements of this song to fruition… and more is to come!”

The band has also launched a limited edition flexi disc vinyl box set in conjunction with the video release. They are available here for a limited time.

Of Mice & Men are currently on tour with Nothing More. The band will next hit the road with Beartooth in the spring and has just announced additional headline shows, which will take place throughout April and May.

“We’re so excited to be on the road, playing our songs live for our fans, all around the world,” said Pauley. “Having just recently completed our sixth album, we’re ready to reconnect with our fans face to face and are ready to go places we’ve never been before, delivering our brand of rock and metal to the masses.”

Album Review: Kings Destroy – Fantasma Nera

A review on Fantasma Nera from New York’s Kings Destroy.

New York City’s Kings Destroy is aiming for something different from what they’ve done in the past.  The difference this time is that Kings Destroy is going from heavy and hardcore rooted sound while using the theme of confrontation to take things a bit grittier and more melody driven.  Fantasma Nera is an album that is described as nothing like the band has done before.

Kings Destroy have traveled all over the world touring and sharing stages with names like Pentagram and Truckfighters, so they aren’t exactly new to the scene or trying to figure themselves out.  In 2019, the band is challenging themselves to be creative and use new inspiration.  It’s an admirable goal as opposed to many bands who lie in their groove and keep churning out the same material.

As for the new album Fantasma Nera, the 10-track album opens with “The Nightbird” and the title track “Fantasma Nera” which have some of the most unique guitar hooks in the album.  It’s these guitar tracks in both rhythm and lead that add the variety in most of the songs in Fantasma Nera.  They scream stoner rock with the gritty fuzz and distortion in the guitars as that feeling is present almost everywhere.

“Barbarossa” and “Unmake It” follow that same flow that the first two tracks had.  This heavy, low melody of grit and almost sludge sounding material is a static one that continues to unfold and stay present for the rest of the album.  That’s where some of the problem comes with Fantasma Nera…most songs on this album have an extremely similar sound.  To the extent you can’t identify differences between some tracks.

“Dead Before” has a slow opening that lets the bassline play out a bit, but the tempo starts to wear as you listen when there is no real build up or payoff.  It’s technically sound and the vocals from singer Stephen Murphy come clear, but “Dead Before” will help you nod off rather than excite you or pull you into the music.  It’s the type of stoner music you play when you are ready to crash for a few hours.

“Yonkers Ceiling Collapse” fortunately shocks you back up.  The chorus and bridge are elevating and the lead guitar is a bit more exciting.  The verses are a bit of the same drag that previous songs had, but there is at least a spark here.  “Seven Billion Drones” then retreads previous territory from the first half of the album.  It isn’t poor quality or grating, it’s just uninspiring to the listener.

Slow guitar solos, steady drum pounds, stretched out verses…it becomes a format.  It isn’t much to dive into after a few listens.  You can tell there is talent here and there are standout songs like the title track and “The Nightbird”, but the highlights are over after that and the second half of the album becomes a slog, including the final two tracks “Bleed Down The Sun” and “Stormy Times”.  The last ten minutes of this album all blends in together as a haze.

When I went into Kings Destroy’s new album, I was wanting something gritty but also moving and engaging.  The type of atmospheric sound you hear in an underground venue in New York City that people are all in sync with as they listen.  Instead, it sounds like the background music you hear at a dirty bar in New York that people just ignore and shout over until they leave for the night.

It’s not an issue of sound quality or mixing.  You can tell the band knows how to play.  It boils down to the final product and the writing.  The lyrics are forgettable, the rhythms sound monotonous after only a couple listens, and most songs feel twice as long as they actually are.  Fantasma Nera should definitely have an audience for the stoner rock and groove lovers, but it may not make many new fans for the band.

In New Music Video Out Now
Rap-Rocker Prepares For Summer Festival Dates:
Rocklahoma (OK), Epicenter (NC), Welcome To Rockville (FL) & More

HYRO THE HERO refuses to slow down or back down following a highly energized sold-out performance in February in Los Angeles, CA with Nothing More and Of Mice & Men, along with a boat-rocking set on the ShipRocked Cruise earlier this year. He’s returned with a new music video for the pulverizing new single, “Never Back Down.”

Featuring his signature blend of infectious modern rock riffs overlaid withinvigorating rap vocals, which Uncivil Revolt described as being “a combination between Tupac and Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine,” HYRO THE HERO stays true to himself in the video for “Never Back Down.”

HYRO further elaborates stating, “Behind the scenes was so much fun with me and my band taking on different roles and expressing the fight of keeping your integrity and not falling prey to what is hot now. I love making music and want to see it rise to the top and staying true to myself in the process, without ever backing down.”

Directed by Brian Cox of Flarelight Films (Hollywood Undead, Butcher Babies), “Never Back Down” can be seen streaming on Consequence of Sound HERE who state, “‘Never Back Down’ is aggressive throughout, showing Hyro’s love of hip-hop and rock,” or stream it directly below:

“Never Back Down” is featured on HYRO THE HERO’s new album, FLAGGED CHANNEL, out now via SONY/RED MUSIC. The album, produced by Mitch Marlow (Papa Roach, Filter), includes guest appearances from James “Munky” Shaffer (KORN) and Ash Costello (New Years Day) while marking the first new material from HYRO THE HERO following his debut 2011 release Birth, School, Work, Death.
