Zeal & Ardor To Release “Live in London” + Drop Live Version of “Baphomet”

Zeal & Ardor To Release Live In London On March 22
Live Recording Features Four New Tracks
Band Shares Live Version Of “Baphomet”

Black metal blues alchemists Zeal & Ardor have released “Baphomet.” It’s the first single from their forthcoming live album, Live In London, due out March 22 via MVKA/Radicallis.

Listen here or at this location: https://lnk.to/Baphomet.

The 22-track album includes four previously unreleased songs.

The album is the entire recording of the band’s headline show at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, London, which took place in December 2017. It will be available digitally, on CD, and as a Double White 180g vinyl.

The new songs included are “We Never Fall,” “Hold Your Head Low,” “Cut Me,” and the aforementioned “Baphomet.”

Barring those tracks, the set list was devised from the band’s two existing albums: the debut Devil Is Fine and 2018’s follow-up Stranger Fruit.

Z&A’s music has been critically acclaimed across both releases, with praise from Rolling Stone, Billboard, Alternative PressKerrang!Metal HammerNoiseyPitchforkLoudwireConsequence of SoundUpsetThe Onion AV Club, and many more.

Frontman Manuel Gagneux comments, “We recorded our London show last December. Since we’re really proud of our performance, we are releasing the entire show consisting of our entire catalogue of songs. Mixing duties crushed by Kurt Ballou and Alan Douches mastered these 80 minutes into cohesion. We are really happy with how this turned out and can’t wait to unleash it upon you all.”

Zeal & Ardor, who completed a headline tour of the U.S. last fall, will return to North America this winter and spring. The band will support Baroness and Deafheaven. The trek kicks off March 8 and runs through April 12, with several stops in Canada. All dates are below.

Periphery To Release Periphery IV: Hail Stan on April 5th; Watch “Blood Eagle” Music Video Now

Periphery release Periphery IV: Hail Stan on April 5;
Pre-orders Available Here: https://store.3dotrecordings.com/

Periphery release their fifth album, Periphery IV: HAIL STAN, on April 5 via their own 3DOT Recordings.

Sirius XM Liquid Metal host Jose Mangin debuted the album’s first single, “Blood Eagle,” yesterday. Guitar player Mark Holcomb said of the six-minute track: “We’ve known since the late stages of P4 writing sessions that ‘Blood Eagle’ would be the first song we released. It’s an unrelenting song that, even while we were writing it, we could say to ourselves: ‘We NEED to play this live.’ The original demo was vastly different, and through the songwriting process, it took on this kind of violent, explosive nature that is always hard to synthesize. That energy excited us and we knew it’d be the first thing we’d let you all hear.”

Periphery IV: HAIL STAN marks two significant firsts for the band: the first Periphery release on their recently formed label, 3DOT Recordings, as well as a change in the way they approached writing and recording. “We finally spent a year on a record,” explains guitar player/programmer Jake Bowen. “We’ve never been able to do that. The quality and pacing of the work show we took our time with this one. That’s an important note about this. We really got to do everything we wanted to do in the space we had to do it.” Mark adds, “I think you can hear the adventurous intent behind much of this material as a result. We’re all the happiest we’ve ever been with a release, and it’s no coincidence. Can’t wait for you all to hear it.”

Pre-orders, which include several limited-edition vinyl and merch bundles, are available now via https://store.3dotrecordings.com/ (physical) and digitally via iTunes (smarturl.it/hailstan_it). Digital pre-orders include an immediate download of “Blood Eagle,” which can be streamed now via Spotify (smarturl.it/bloodeagle_sp).

Periphery IV: HAIL STAN is the first release to follow the band’s 2017 GRAMMY® Award nomination in the “Best Metal Performance” category, for Periphery III: Select Difficulty album opener “The Price Is Wrong.” The 2016 album tallied 35 million cumulative streams and marked their third consecutive debut in the Top 25 of the Billboard Top 200. It represented the apex of a tireless decade-long grind. Along the way, the band graced the covers of Guitar WorldRevolverModern DrummerBass Player and more. In between the touring, endorsements and appearances, they also launched a summer camp of their own, “Periphery Summer Jam.

It will be a bucket list experience for me, and I hope we get to share it with as many people as possible.”

Photos: MEMPHIS MAY FIRE at The Pageant in St. Louis, MO 2/2/2019

The -6 degree temperature in St. Louis had finally cleared and had risen to over 60 degrees Fahrenheit by Saturday 2/2/2019.  The reason: Memphis May Fire brought in the heat.  This was my first time shooting Memphis May Fire and I was anxious to see them as I’ve heard positive things about their live show.

It was a strobe filled show with blinding mono-chrome color which really made for a unique visual to see as a fan.  Hearing the band perform however was the highlight as Memphis May Fire sounded in sync and gave a solid delivery.  While it would have been nice to see the band a bit better from the crowd, the audience in St. Louis was still into it.  Memphis May Fire will be playing at some of the big festivals this spring like Epicenter.

Memphis May Fire opened for Story Of The Year’s hometown show, supporting their latest album Broken which was released this past November.  You can find their upcoming tour dates on Facebook page here: Memphis May Fire on Facebook

Album Review: Within Temptation – Resist

A review on Resist, the seventh full album from Within Temptation.

Within Temptation is a Dutch symphonic metal band founded in April 1996 by vocalist Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt.

Resist is the seventh studio album by Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation. It was scheduled to be released on December 14, 2018, but because of production problems, it was released on February 1, 2019.  The album contains guest appearances by singer Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach), Anders Fridén(In Flames) and Jasper Steverlinck (Arid).  The album marks the longest time gap between the band’s releases.  #WithinTemptation #Resist #TheReckoning

Regretting The Past: Maroon 5 – Overexposed

Their willingness to sellout was also overexposed.

Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band from Los Angeles, California.  Adam Levine, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Jesse Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, lead guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn, keyboardist PJ Morton and multi-instrumentalist Sam Farrar. Original members Levine, Carmichael, Madden and drummer Ryan Dusick first came together as Kara’s Flowers in 1994, while they were still in high school.

Overexposed is the fourth studio album by the American band Maroon 5, released on June 20, 2012, by A&M Octone Records. The album was recorded between 2011 and 2012 and was driven after the moderate success of their third album, Hands All Over (2010), and later by the enormous success of the re-released edition, which was promoted by the single “Moves Like Jagger“, recorded as a collaboration with Christina Aguilera. It is the band’s only album not to feature keyboardist, rhythm guitarist and background vocalist, Jesse Carmichael, who took a temporary break from performing with the group to focus on his studies back then, replaced by musician PJ Morton. The band worked with different producers, such as Max Martin, who serves as the album’s executive producer, Ryan Tedder, Shellback and Benny Blanco. The band’s guitarist and Levine’s usual co-writer James Valentine only has four credits on the album.
