Flogging Molly & Social Distortion Announce Summer Co-Headline Tour

Flogging Molly & Social Distortion
Announce Summer Co-Headline Tour

Announce Summer Co-Headline Tour
Pandora and CITI Presale Kicks Off April 23rd
Public On-Sale Begins April 26th

Quintessential Irish-American Celtic punk band FLOGGING MOLLY and legendary American punk rock band SOCIAL DISTORTION are teaming up for the ultimate Summer tour. Their co-headline tour will kick off in Dallas, TX at Toyota Music Factory Pavilion on August 13th with The Devil Makes Three and Le Butcherettes in tow, circle around the East Coast, head toward the Midwest then West Coast to conclude at Mesa Amphitheatre in Phoenix, AZ on September 29th.Pandora and CITI presale kicks off on April 23rd at 10am and public on sale begins on April 26that 10am. Front Row Packages and VIP Tour Packages can be purchased here.

Since their formation in 1979 in the working-class Southern California suburb of Fullerton, Social Distortion have a recharged rock ‘n’ roll sound merging outlaw country, classic punk and swaggering blues. The band’s last release Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes was the first album with their current label Epitaph Records and the band’s highest charting album in their career. Produced for the first time by Ness himself, the album debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. As the band is now in their 40th year and still going strong, look to make this tour the start of their 2019 festivities while also preparing to head back into the studio to start a new chapter to their already rich legacy.

FLOGGING MOLLY is a staple in the punk scene and touring in support of Life Is Good, their first new album in over six years. It’s filled with rousing songs that are timeless in their sentiment, but directly related to today’s most pressing concerns: politics, the economy, unemployment, planned boomtowns gone bust, immigration policies gone awry, and much more. Life Is Good serves as a wake-up call to those who have simply stood by while far-reaching political decisions were made that had serious impact on them. The band started out as the house band at Molly Malone’s and built a loyal following. They’ve built a massive fan base through endless touring and even have their very own boat cruise which has hosted everyone from Rancid to NOFX to The Offspring to Less Than Jake to The English Beat to The Bouncing Souls to Frank Turner to Gogol Bordello. This year marks the fifth year of their roaring Salty Dog Cruise. This year’s lineup includes Frank Turner, Stiff Little Fingers, Pennywise, Hepcat, Face To Face, Street Dogs, The Bronx, Mariachi El Bronx and others.

FLOGGING MOLLY is Dave King (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, bodhran),
Bridget Regan (violin, tin whistle), Dennis Casey (acoustic guitar, electric guitar), Matt Hensley(accordion, piano, concertina), Nathen Maxwell (bass guitar, vocals), Mike Alonso (drums, percussion).

SOCIAL DISTORTION is Mike Ness (vocals, guitar), Jonny Wickersham (guitar), Brent Harding (bass), and David Hidalgo Jr. (drums).

Dirtier Than “The Dirt”: Riki Rachtman Launches Cathouse Hollywood Podcast

Riki Rachtman Launches The Cathouse Hollywood Podcast
Former Headbangers Ball Host Presents An Uncensored Journey
Back To Rock’s Most Decadent Era

Available On iTunes, Spotify and Stictcher

With even dirtier stories than “The Dirt,” the new Cathouse Hollywood Podcast, hosted by Riki Rachtman, presents all true first-hand accounts of never-before-told stories about some of the biggest names in rock. The infamous Los Angeles club was at the center of rock music’s glory days and was started by Rachtman (who would go on to become the host of MTV’s “Headbangers Ball”) and his roommate, Faster Pussycat frontman Taime Downe.

But what happened at the Cathouse stayed at the Cathouse—until now. In this brand-new podcast series, Rachtman, along with special guests, share the untold stories of rock’s most decadent era as told not by journalists or authors, but by the people that were there.

From 1986-1992, the Cathouse was at the epicenter of the Hollywood rock scene as some of the biggest bands played unannounced shows at the club. But it wasn’t the performances by GNRMotorhead, Alice Cooper, Pearl Jam, Faster Pussycat, Black Crowes and so many more that put Cathouse on the map. It was the sleaze and debauchery, the raunch and roll that gave it a reputation as a haven for the reckless and raucous activities that went on inside after the bands stopped playing.

Initially started by Rachtman and Downe as a way to get free drinks and meet girls, the duo enforced a strict no camera rule so anything could and did happen. From the Crue to Alice Cooper, the infamous activities at the Cathouse have been immortalized in song and profiled in stories from Newsweek to Rolling Stone, where it was regarded as part of an underground scene where even celebrities like Johnny Depp and Robert Downey, Jr. hung out.

With bi-weekly episodes (released every other Tuesday), written, produced, hosted and edited by Rachtman, the unforgettable, never-before-told stories are a trip through pop culture’s decadent tales of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll featuring characters from Guns N’ Roses, Motley Crue, David Bowie, Sex Pistols and more. With special guests ranging from multiplatinum-selling artists to the coat check attendants and waitresses, each episode shows how everyone that came through the Cathouse was a rock star.

“Initially the show was set up to tell stories from incidents that happened at the Cathouse, but the stories have reached further than the club to focus more on the unbelievable tales of that era told not by reporters or journalists but the people that were there—mostly musicians,” says Rachtman, who has started to host episodes in front of live audiences. “The truth is there have been some stories told on the show that have never been told that paint the picture of one of the greatest eras of rock music, like going to Nikki Sixx’s house the day after he was pronounced dead. I have the story of Axl Rose chasing David Bowie down the street after the Starman kept wanting to get on the stage, and the one time The Black Crowes paid to play the Cathouse, plus details on how the feud betweenVince Neil and Axl Rose started.”

Here’s a rundown of the episodes so far, available on iTunes:
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/riki-rachtmans-cathouse-hollywood-podcast/id1448178672

Episode 1: The story of the only band to ever pay to play the Cathouse.

Episode 2: How it all started—the tale of one drunken night in a hotel room with a B movie about a jailbreak that inspired the Cathouse. Special guests include Taime Downe, Keith Cooper and Trina Ortegon.

Episode 3: The story of the great rivalry of Axl Rose & Vince Neil that began at the Cathouse plus rare audio of the night Vince sang with GNR at the club. Riki also pays a visit to The Hollywood Tropicana where the club’s ‘Broad Squad’ hailed from and whose club costumes would spawn a style called ‘Cathouse chic’.

Episode 4: Megadeth’s Dave Ellefson talks about the night the band played the Cathouse and the truth about the feud between him and Riki.

Episode 5: A look at the time before ’86 as Riki goes to his first punk rock show in ‘79 with a friend that started a fashion empire. Riki’s high school friend Keith talks about how the two promoted shows at clubs before they could even drink and the heavy metal album that changed everything.

Episode 6: This one’s all about Motley Crue and their role in the Cathouse, plus the time Riki DJ’ed Tommy Lee and Heather Locklear’s wedding.

Bonus Episode: Riki and Gilby Clarke review Netflix’s “The Dirt”

How Did I Miss This?! | Powerwolf – Orbit Culture – The Raven Age

A review on several albums all suggested by patrons so I can catch up on what I should have been paying attention to! This video covers The Sacrament Of Sin by Powerwolf, Redfog by Orbit Culture, and Conspiracy by The Raven Age.

Special thanks to Brandon Barenfeld, Christopher Geriak and David Lucas for their Patreon pledges and album suggestions!

Powerwolf is a German power metal band created in 2003 by David Vogt and Benjamin Buss (stage names Charles and Matthew Greywolf, respectively). The group is notable for having dark themes and images, both musically and lyrically, both counteractions to traditional power metal music and including usage of corpse paint, gothic-tinged compositions and songs about Transylvanian werewolf and vampire legends and dark religious tales.

The Raven Age is an English melodic metalcore band formed in London in 2009 by guitarists Dan Wright and George Harris (son of Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris). In 2014 the band recorded and released their self-titled EP before supporting Steve Harris British Lion and Tremonti on separate tours. The band then supported Iron Maiden on The Book of Souls World Tour in 2016. On 2 August 2016 the band announced their debut album, Darkness Will Rise, would be released in December 2016, but it was released in March 2017. The band supported Anthrax on the Among The Kings European Tour in 2017. Followed by supporting Killswitch Engage and Tremonti on their tours in 2018. The band released their second album, Conspiracy, on 8 March 2019.

Frank Iero Announces West Coast Dates

Frank Iero And The Future Violents
Announce West Coast Tour Dates w/ Geoffrey Rickly
New Album BARRIERS To Be Released on May 31st

In addition to their upcoming album BARRIERS (out May 31, 2019), FRANK IERO AND THE FUTURE VIOLENTS have just announced a run of 13 West Coast dates, with supporting act Geoffrey Rickly (of Thursday)! Coming right off their appearance at the California Warped Tour, the West Coast leg of their headlining tour begins July 23rd at Wonder Ballroom in Portland, OR and takes them to Seattle (7.24), Salt Lake City(7.27), Denver (7.29), Austin (8.2), San Diego (8.7), Los Angeles (8.10), and more!

Frank Iero’s third album, Barriers, is a rumination of sorts on life and living and the obstacles (a.k.a. “barriers”) that get in the way. Recorded and mixed by Steve Albini, Barriers is 14 songs that not only tackle the existential journey of his heart and mind, but help him redirect his musical path.

Barriers has already seen tons of love from the press, including Alt Press who described their latest single “Young and Doomed” as “Electrifying“, Loudwire who called it “Raucous“, and Kerrang who labeled the song’s video, “Brilliantly trippy“.

From the opening track “A New Day’s Coming” which sounds almost like a gospel-inspired, stirring hymnal (he explains, “I originally based it on old soul songs that I really loved, asking myself how, say, Otis Redding or different Stax recording artists would do a song like this”) to “Six Feet Down Under” – a bluesy stomp through the underworld of existence, to the epic and soaring (and sorrowful) “24k Lush,” Barriers confronts listeners with 14 tracks that explore Iero’s tumultuous internal battles from which he emerges at his most confident musically.

Barriers is a record that I still can’t believe I made and I’m so incredibly proud of it,” Iero reflects. “I can’t wait for other people to be shocked and appalled and inspired by it. Hopefully it scares the shit out of them.”

Frank Iero and the Future Violents is Frank Iero, Evan Nestor, Matt Armstrong, Tucker Rule and Kayleigh Goldsworthy. Barriers was recorded and mixed by Steve Albini and will be released via UNFD on May 31, 2019.

Joyous Wolf is a Rock band from Southern California formed in 2014 by vocalist Nick Reese, guitarist Blake Allard, bassist Greg Braccio, and drummer Robert Sodaro. Reese and Sodaro met on their first day of 6th grade during student orientation. They went to different high schools where Sodaro would go on to befriend Braccio. During that time Reese, by chance, met Allard in the acoustic room at Guitar Center where they would jam CCR’s “Born on the Bayou”. There was an immediate dynamic between the two that ultimately led to an exchange of information. Months later Reese reached out to both Sodaro and Allard with the interest of starting a new project with them. Braccio would soon follow suit.

In the waning months of 2014 early jam sessions would yield the foundation of what Joyous Wolf has become. Fusing together influences ranging from Heavy Metal to Delta Blues, Joyous Wolf creates an expressive, high-energy fingerprint that separates themselves from their contemporaries in the realm of Modern Rock.

The Hollywood Vampires New Album “Rise” on June 21, Listen To “Who’s Laughing Now”

The Hollywood Vampires Are Back With Rise,
One Of The Most Anticipated Albums Of 2019!
Album Out June 21 On Earmusic
Listen To “Who’s Laughing Now” HERE

The Hollywood Vampires return with new music in the form of their explosive second album Rise. Rock ‘n’ roll royalty Joe Perry, Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp, and shock rock icon Alice Cooper join forces once again for the unmissable rock album of 2019. Rise will be released June 21 via earMUSIC. Pre-order here. Listen to “Who’s Laughing Now” here and here.

Seconds into the opening track “I Want My Now,” it’s clear this supergroup has created something special. The chemistry between the individuals is unmistakable when they come together on stage or in the recording studio. Forget the individual reputations of the star-studded lineup. Rise features some of the purest, most unapologetic, and most enjoyable rock ‘n’ roll of the year — made by masters of the craft and true fans of the form.

Unlike their 2015 debut record, the new album Rise, produced by Tommy Henriksen and the band, consists mainly of original material written by the band. However, in the spirit of the Vampires’ original mission, there are three covers of songs originally written and recorded by some fellow rockers who died far too young: an intimate and intense version of David Bowie’s “Heroes,” beautifully performed by Johnny Depp; the late Jim Carroll Band’s “People Who Died“; and Johnny Thunders’ “You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory,” sung by Joe Perry.

Raucous rock anthems like “The Boogieman Surprise” and first single “Who’s Laughing Now” capture the natural, raw, and celebratory attitude that The Hollywood Vampires displayed in their rowdy shows around the world. However, the album shows off their range as well with tracks like “We Gotta Rise“— a tongue-in-cheek politics song in the tradition of Cooper’s “Elected” — to the psychedelic gothic epic of “Mr. Spider.”

Rise is not only a totally different animal than the first Vampires album, it is unique to anything I’ve ever been a part of,” says Cooper. “I approached it very differently than I usually do when working on an album. Each of us; Joe, Johnny, Tommy, and myself have written songs on this album. What is different though is that I didn’t try to change any songs to be more ‘Alice-like.’ Because each of us has different influences, the sound of this album is very cool. I think that with this album, we are establishing what the Vampires’ sound really is, whereas with the first album, we were more tipping our hats to our fallen rock ‘n’ roll brothers.”

Perry says, “Rise came from pure creative energy, which is just like playing live with the Vampires. The record showcases everyone doing what they do best without anyone looking over our shoulders. There was no pressure or deadlines, allowing us to write and record an album that is one of the freest and most honest sounding records I’ve been part of. I can’t wait to perform some of these tunes live for our fans.”

The band is also embarking on a short tour this May. Dates are below.

Amon Amarth launches video for new single, “Crack the Sky”

Amon Amarth launches video
for new single, “Crack the Sky”

On May 3rd, Amon Amarth will release their 11th full-length, Berserker, via Metal Blade Records (North America)/Sony Music (International)! For a preview of the album, the video for the new single, “Crack the Sky”, can be viewed at: http://www.amonamarth.com

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cLFdIzMhn8

Directed by Roboshobo, “Crack the Sky” is the second of a trilogy of music videos from Berserker (the first clip being “Raven’s Flight”) – each one increasingly epic in its scope, further immersing the viewer in the world of Amon Amarth. Much like the songs on Berserker, the videos present Amon Amarth to its fullest. The cast features Josh Barnett as “the Berserker” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Barnett) and Erick Rowan as “Thor” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erick_Rowan), among others.

Comprising 12 monstrous heavy metal anthems that bulge with irresistible melodic hooks, bursts of thrilling savagery and moments of spine-tingling dynamic drama, Berserker is the result of the huge surge of creativity and a collective desire to keep moving forward with no compromise. From the disarming melodrama and explosive riffing of opener “Fafner’s Gold” and the brutish simplicity of the rampaging “Crack The Sky” to the epic fury of “Raven’s Flight” and the grim, gritty storytelling of “Ironside” and “Skoll and Hati”, Berserker is an album full of trademark Amon Amarth bluster and bite but with every aspect of the band’s sound somehow refined, sonically enhanced and made vastly more potent, both in terms of metal oomph and emotional power. Neatly summing up the spirit behind these exhilarating new songs is the album’s semi-title track, “The Berserker At Stamford Bridge”: a visceral but vivid historical tale, recounting the Vikings last stand against the English army in 1066 and the mind-bending heroics of one axe-wielding warrior.

Showcasing an undeniable and startling upgrade for every aspect of Amon Amarth‘s iconic sound, Berserker was recorded in Los Angeles with renowned studio guru Jay Ruston (Anthrax/Stone Sour) manning the controls. After recording several rounds of professional demos for the new songs (initially with fellow Swedish metal icon Peter Tägtgren and then later with Ruston himself) the band crossed the Atlantic to make final the recordings in LA, eager to take a fresh approach to the album-making process.

“For me, this is Amon Amarth 2.0,” vocalist Johan Hegg declares. “I think what we’ve done here is give ourselves the space to explore other parts of our musicality and who we are as a band. If you’re content with where you’re at, what’s the point of continuing? We always want to come up with new ideas and find new ways of doing things and to create bigger and better shows and really try to improve every aspect of what the band is. We want to try to keep growing and to do this for as long as we have the possibility to do so, because this is the best fucking job in the world.”

The cast for “Crack the Sky” also features Tess Kielhammer as “Demon Boss” (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm4178569/), Shanie Rusth as “Shield Maiden” (https://www.herexchange.net/her-story/2018/9/11/shanie-rusth), Erik Arevalo (https://www.instagram.com/theerikhammer/?hl=en), Victor Henry (https://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Victor-Henry-52195), and Canadian WWE legend Viktor as “Demon Henchman” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viktor), and many more.

Dropkick Murphys Launch Fall 2019 Tour With Clutch & Hatebreed

Dropkick Murphys Launch Coast-To-Coast Fall Tour
Featuring Clutch & Direct Support From Hatebreed,
Plus Amigo The Devil & Russ Rankin Of Good Riddance

Dropkick Murphys will kick off fall 2019 with a coast-to-coast tour featuring Clutch, launchingSeptember 20 at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, MA. Joined by Hatebreed on most dates, plus special guests Amigo The Devil and Russ Rankin of Good Riddance on select dates, the tour wraps October 15 at the WAMU Theater in Seattle, WA. Tickets for most dates go on sale Thursday, April 18.

Since forming in 1996, Boston’s Dropkick Murphys have sold a staggering 7 million albums worldwide, with 2005’s The Warrior’s Code achieving an RIAA Gold certification and its smash single “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” nearing double platinum and appearing during a key moment of Martin Scorsese’s Academy Award-winning The Departed. They’ve hosted sold out concerts at most of the city’s landmarks, including Fenway Park, TD Garden, the Boston Pops, and even the last voyage of the USS Constitution.Dropkick Murphys are touring in support of their 11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory album, released through the band’s own Born & Bred Records in 2017. The album debuted at #8 on the Billboard Top 200 and was the #1 independently released album. There’s a feeling of purpose throughout the album, influenced by the band’s work with The Claddagh Fund, a charity the band established in 2009 to help support addiction recovery as well as children’s and veterans’ organizations.

Maryland rockers Clutch have been pushing the boundaries of heavy rock music since the 4 original members got together in high school. Having been tagged hard rock, blues rock, southern stoner rock and alternative metal by media and fans across the world it is safe to say one thing…“What you see is what you get” and what you get is a musical force that has been best described as the quintessential American Rock Band.  Clutch quickly became known for their relentless touring schedules, playing shows from whiskey stained 2 door venues in the hills of West Virginia to the iconic Brixton Academy in the UK, and are currently touring in support of their 12th album Book Of Bad Decisions.

Unstoppable, Grammy-nominated hardcore juggernaut Hatebreed remain one of the most relevant and impactful acts in the hard rock and metal scenes. Since their definitive debut in 1997, they’ve continued to be road warriors, touring constantly and sharing stages with everyone from Slipknot to Slayer, while also serving as one of the top-tier headliners on multiple festivals including Ozzfest, Mayhem, Warped Tour, and countless others. The Connecticut band is currently celebrating 25 years of ruthless breakdowns, pit-stirring anthems, and poignant lyrics across eight albums and consistently sold-out shows in 2019.

In addition to the upcoming run, Dropkick Murphys’ fall festival stops include the See.Hear.Now Festival in Asbury Park, NJ and Louder Than Life in Louisville, KY in September.
