Tool Returns With New Music; Prove They Are Timeless | Photos | Welcome To Rockville 2019

Almost every website, YouTube channel, and radio DJ has made a joke at one point about never getting new Tool music again due to the fact that it has been over a decade. As the years have gone on, it’s hard not to understand everyone’s frustration.

After Tool started teasing (trolling?) the idea of new music in 2019 by changing Facebook banners and posting photos of studio recording sessions…it’s almost impossible to not get excited. News has broken since Welcome To Rockville however that a new Tool album is coming in August.

Tool closed out Welcome To Rockville 2019 late into the night due to an unfortunate rainout that delayed festival performances. After looking at the crowd that stayed, you realized that attendees were willing to make the sacrifice of calling in sick to work and school in order to hear Tool.

This was the first time I had ever seen Tool live. It was a big deal for me to be given this opportunity because it’s rare to get photos of Tool live. I’m not above repeatedly saying how grateful I am.

One highlight was hearing “Schism” while hearing thousands sing along. Another highlight was after the first song when Maynard James Keenan said “Thank you, and good night.” I’m pretty sure there would have been a riot as a result of listeners only got seven minutes of Tool.

See Tool live this year if you can because several more festival performances have been announced. It’s 2019, and Tool has reaffirmed my belief that Tool’s music is timeless because everything the band did at Rockville sounded amazing.

Album Review: Amon Amarth – Berserker

A review on Berserker, the eleventh
studio album from Amon Amarth.

Amon Amarth is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Tumba, formed in 1992. The band takes its name from the Sindarin name of Mount Doom, a volcano in J. R. R. Tolkien′s Middle-earth. Their lyrics mostly deal with Viking mythology and history, and so they have been linked with viking metal, although the band themselves prefer to be referred to as melodic death metal. The band is composed of lead guitarist Olavi Mikkonen, vocalist Johan Hegg, bassist Ted Lundström, rhythm guitarist Johan Söderberg, and drummer Jocke Wallgren.

Berserker is the upcoming eleventh studio album by the Swedish death metal band Amon Amarth. It is to be released on 3 May 2019.  The album was produced by Jay Ruston. This marks the first album by the band to feature drummer Jocke Wallgren who joined the band in 2016.  #AmonAmarth #Berserker #Vikings

Slash ft. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators Release “Boulevard Of Broken Hearts” Music Video

Slash Ft Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators
Release New Video “Boulevard Of Broken Hearts”

Acclaimed New Album ‘Living The Dream’ Out Now

The iconic, GRAMMY-winning guitarist SLASH and his band SLASH FT. MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS have released a brand new live video today, May 1 for the song “Boulevard Of Broken Hearts” HERE.

The “Boulevard Of Broken Hearts” video was recorded at SLASH’s SOLD OUT live performance atThe Eventim Apollo, London on Wednesday, February, 20 2019. The stunning video features the album version of the song overlaid with intimate backstage footage and live footage from the Eventim Apollo and shows why SLASH FT. MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS are such an incendiary live draw. The video was shot and edited by Dan Sturgess. The track is taken from the group’s most recent studio album LIVING THE DREAM.

‘Boulevard of Broken Hearts’ was the last song I came up with and brought to the band,” explainsSLASH. ‘It was another idea I had where I wasn’t sure the other guys were going to get where I was coming from. But the chorus was done in such a way that I’d knew they’d get that part of it, and from there all we’d have to do is figure out the verses and the other sections. It actually came together really quickly, and after Myles heard it, he had a vocal melody almost instantaneously.”

“It’s a newer one, for sure. Lyrically, it’s about having this awareness that you’re really close to obtaining your goals, as well as beating the odds,” adds MYLES. “I thought about it from the perspective of a young musician striving for something, only the doors keep closing on him. But he’s already come so far. So, it’s a reminder to stay on course because you’re almost there. It seemed like a good idea to end the record on. Keep pushing through and persevering, and eventually what you’re shooting for will happen.”

The “Boulevard Of Broken Hearts” live performance video acts as the perfect precursor to SLASH FT. MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS 2019 worldwide tour dates which run throughout the year. In May and June SLASH will tour South America, before returning to Europe through June and earl July. The U.S. trek will kick-off on July 15 in San Francisco. Tickets are on-sale now, visit: http://www.slashonline.com.

The critically acclaimed album LIVING THE DREAM (Snakepit Records/RoadRunner Records) is the third full-length offering from SLASH FT MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS. The LOS ANGELES TIMES described the album as, “his best work since the demise of Velvet Revolver. …full of “unexpected funk, boogie, blues and garage rock influences.” While ROLLING STONEdeclared the album, “a biting blues filigree at the end of a riff, weeping solos full of long notes, boogie-woogie riffs.” Elsewhere, CLASSIC ROCK hailed, “the bands third and Best Album, ‘The Great Pretender’ is the album’s masterpiece and one of the best things Slash has ever done.” Fans can purchase or stream LIVING THE DREAM HERE.Fueled by the Top 5 rock song Driving Rain,” its live-action, animated video as well as the best critical acclaim of their career, LIVING THE DREAM debuted with10, Top 10 chart placements around the world.  The new single “Mind Your Manners–which Rolling Stone hailed “a menacing blues-rocker”–climbed to #16 this week at Rock radio. “Mind Your Manners” follows Driving RainSLASH’s fastest rising single to date–which recently became the band’s 5th Top 5 radio hit in a row. SLASH FT MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS have had 6 consecutive Top 10 hit singles at radio.

Reel Big Fish & The Aquabats Announce Co-Headline Tour

Reel Big Fish &  The Aquabats
Co-Headline Tour, July 2-19
W/ Special Guest Dog Party

Two legends of Orange County ska punk, Reel Big Fish and The Aquabats, are joining forces on a 14-city co-headline tour which kicks off July 2 and runs through July 19.

Local pre-sale tickets will go on sale Thursday, May 2nd from 10am to 10pm local time, with general admission tickets on sale beginning Friday, May 3rd at 10am local time.

The Aquabats’ Christian Jacobs (the MC Bat Commander himself) says, “We haven’t been on the road for a while so… this is going to be most fun! We’ve been friends with Aaron and the Reel Big Fish-ermen for over 20 years now and after all this time, it still feels like we’re just goofing around, playing music and having fun with no other motives than to goof around, play music and have fun! We can’t wait to see everyone again!”

Reel Big Fish frontman Aaron Barrett adds, “Come out and party like it’s 1997 with two bands who have been making fools of themselves on stage for YOUR entertainment for over 20 years!! If you don’t have a good time, it’s because you HATE FUN!!! “

TV’s punk rock superheroes The Aquabats formed in 1994 in Orange County as a way to have some harmless fun in a music scene that took itself too seriously. Their Paul Frank designed “power belts,” trademark blue rash guards, black eye masks, “anti-negativity” helmets and onstage antics quickly caught on, earning the group a fiercely loyal following that spans generations. Their line-up and music is continuously evolving, including Blink 182’s Travis Barker as former drummer “Baron Von Tito.”

2019 marks the band’s 25th year and promises to be one of their best yet. In addition to the release of The Aquabats Super Show! Television Soundtrack Volume 1 on June 7th and a full touring slate this summer, the year will round out with West and East Coast headlining tours in the fall to coincide with the release of their first fan-funded full-length studio album in October.

For additional information visit: www.theaquabats.com.

As one of the key mid-90’s ska-punk bands to emerge out of Southern California’s third wave ska scene, along with acts like No Doubt and Sublime, Reel Big Fish’s popularity hasn’t faltered over the years. Distinguished by their hyperkinetic stage shows, sarcastic humor, ironic covers of new wave pop songs, and metallic shards of ska, the group continues to tour the world playing shows to a hardcore fanbase that’s as devoted as ever.

Reel Big Fish’s 9th studio LP, ‘Life Sucks…Let’s Dance’ was released in late- 2018 and has garnered some of the best reviews of their lengthy career.

The band started the recordings exactly 100 years after the end of the First World War (11/11/1918) and took 3 months of intensive work to complete the album together with their long term producer and partner Jonas Kjellgren at Black Lounge studios. Furthermore, the album has been mastered by Maor Appelbaum and the artwork was once again created by Peter Sallaí.

“This is not the first time we have sung about stories from this period in time, but now we felt the timing was right to make a full concept album about this war”, explain the band.

In addition, SABATON posted this trailer revealing more details about the amazing artwork – watch it here:

Alongside the album, the Swedes have worked hard to make their 20th year anniversary a very exciting year, and also started the SABATON History Channel – a unique collaboration between the band themselves and multimedia historians Indy Neidell and Timeghost –capturing the power of social media to tell stories about the wars, battles and heroes behind SABATON’s songs. “This is the biggest album we have taken on so far. There is more depth and story around the songs that we have ever had before”, Pär Sundström announces. “Expect many surprises as we have tried new things and we also went back in time to a concept we know a lot of you love. The Great War has been created side by side with the Sabaton History Channel to make 2019 the most exciting year in our 20 year history.”

Bloodywood Releases Music Video For “Machi Bhasad (Expect a Riot)”

New Delhi based Indian Folk Metal band Bloodywood
has released the official music video for their newest single,
“Machi Bhasad (Expect a Riot).”

“Originally created for the upcoming Ubisoft game “Beyond Good and Evil 2”, Machi Bhasad is a track with a political message that celebrates the power of a new generation and its potential to be better than the last. Outside the context of the game, this song is intended as both a tribute and a call to action.

It’s a tribute to musicians and leaders who inspired people like ourselves to think and act in a way that’ll benefit everyone. To question an unjust system that serves a few at the cost of the many. It’s a call to action for our generation to finish the work started by all those who came before us. To Become the straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back, and change the world for the better.”

Album Review: Belzebubs – Pantheon Of The Nightside Gods

A review on Pantheon Of The Nightside Gods,
an album from the uncrowned champions
of melodic black metal: Belzebubs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=147Fkme1lEA

Belzebubs established themselves a cult status in the black metal genre with their self-published debut album Quis Novit Daemonis Astus (2006). The band, originally formed in 2002 as a three-piece by Hubbath, Sløth and Izkariot, found a faster and melodic sound with Obesyx joining the crew. Their second self-published album, Moth of Satanas, followed in 2009, leading the group to sign with Døden Records.

However, due to a series of unfortunate events, the band was forced on hiatus for the better half of the decade. After numerous line-up changes and signing to a new label, Belzebubs is finally ready to resurrect from the dead with the aid of their new drummer Samaël, who’s brought a tight, progressive touch to the rhythm section. The first single Blackened Call came out in June 2018 from Century Media. The full-length album Pantheon of the Nightside Gods was released April 26th 2019.

Listen To New Song “Boogiewoman”

North Carolina’s He Is Legend will release the new album White Bat through Spinefarm Recordson June 28.  The album is available for pre-order here.

The band has shared the new song “Boogiewoman.” Listen here.

The band previously released the title track in late 2018. Listen here.

“White Bat is the purest, most passionate, and the most united He is Legend has been since we wrote It Hates You. I think this album has something for every fan of each chapter in our history,” says singer Schuylar Croom about the album, which is He Is Legend’s sixth full length overall and second for Spinefarm

The quartet — the aforementioned Croom, Adam Tanbouz [lead guitar], Matty Williams [bass], and Jesse Shelley [drums] — is bolstered by a cult fan base that includes members of your favorite bandMetal Injection made a salient point in their9-out-of-10-rating of their last album, 2017’s Few, saying, “Let’s cut right to the chase: He Is Legend is one of the most underrated and under-appreciated bands in all of metal.”

For White Bat, the band diligently worked across the country. Shelley recorded drums in Atlanta at Glow in the Dark Studios with Matt Goldman. Guitars and bass would be tracked at Warriorsound with Al Jacobs. Meanwhile, Croom ventured out West to reteam with Mitch Marlow for vocals in Los Angeles. Inspired by Michelle McNamara’s true crime classic I’ll Be Gone In The Dark, Croom wandered around the shadiest and most shadowy corners of the city of angels. Getting into a menacing mindset for the concept, he visited the grave of Walt Disney, canvased mausoleums, went to the Museum of Death, and “sat in crazy seedy little bars, wrote, and got into this headspace—like preparing for an acting role.”

Ultimately, White Bat “has a moodiness and heaviness we haven’t ventured into in a while,” according to Croom. “It’s conceptual. More than the content and concept, the music is representative of what we are now.”
