“Weird Rock Tours offers a unique experience for music enthusiasts by showcasing some of the most unexpected and intriguing band pairings in concert history. For instance, the legendary rock band U2 once toured with the politically charged rap-metal group Rage Against The Machine, creating a dynamic and powerful concert experience that captivated audiences across the United States during the PopMart Tour in 1997. Another notable example is the 2019 tour featuring pop-punk icons Blink-182 and hip-hop star Lil Wayne, a combination that brought together fans from diverse musical backgrounds for an unforgettable live performance. These eclectic pairings highlight the innovative spirit of Weird Rock Tours, making it a must-experience for those looking to witness the fusion of different musical genres on stage.” (Perplexity)

“Dave Grohl, frontman of the Foo Fighters, sparked controversy during a recent London concert by seemingly taking a jab at Taylor Swift’s live performances. During the band’s show, Grohl jokingly referred to their tour as the “Errors Tour” and emphasized that they “actually play live,” which many interpreted as a critique of Swift’s Eras Tour. The comment ignited a social media firestorm, with Swift fans defending their idol and accusing Grohl of misogyny. Swift appeared to respond indirectly during her own London performance, highlighting her band’s commitment to playing live for hours. This unexpected clash between two music industry titans has generated significant buzz, drawing attention to the ongoing debate about authenticity in live performances and the passionate nature of fan communities in the digital age.” (Perplexity)

Wage War – Stigma | Album Review

The Florida based band are continuing to step out of their comfort zone from a basic metalcore sound, which I normally approve of. Stigma ventures forward with shades of industrial, nu metal, and bottomless low-tuning. As is a common problem with an album attempting so many directions, the pacing and flow can be chaotic. Bond’s growl works in moments but some of the industrial elements and song writing do not mesh well. This causes a standard metalcore ballad like “Magnetic” to stand out abruptly, especially when followed by something like “Nail5” that goes for a modern drop beat sound. It defies explanation. There are tracks that become refreshing in sound like “Blur”, but lyrically there is little to connect with. You can hear the effort and understand the attempts, but it’s hard to shake off the feeling of being directionless. 5/10

Wage War “Magenetic”
Wage War “Tombstone”

Wage War, the Florida-based metalcore titans, are set to release their highly anticipated fifth studio album, STIGMA, on June 21, 2024. The album promises to showcase the band’s evolution, blending their signature crushing heaviness with more experimental elements. STIGMA features ten tracks, including the lead singles “MAGNETIC” and “NAIL5,” which offer a taste of the band’s diverse sound. Vocalist Briton Bond and guitarist Cody Quistad continue to push the envelope, delivering powerful performances that range from thunderous growls to melodic clean vocals. Fans can expect a mix of mosh-worthy anthems and radio-friendly tracks, as Wage War continues to solidify their position as one of metalcore’s most exciting acts. With STIGMA, Wage War aims to build on the success of their previous albums and further expand their growing fanbase in the metal and rock scenes.” (Perplexity)

Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness and Something Corporate Release “Death Grip”

Something Corporate

Adding to the excitement of the kickoff to Something Corporate’s long-awaited reunion tour tonight in Brooklyn, frontman and veteran indie-pop singer-songwriter-pianist Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness and his beloved early 2000s pop-punk band Something Corporate have released their new single “Death Grip.” The track is available now via Big Loud Rock, representing the first in a new partnership between McMahon and the label, with more to come. PRESS HERE to listen to “Death Grip” and PRESS HERE to watch the official music video, directed by Jax Anderson, which first premiered with PEOPLE. The process of writing and creating “Death Grip” was different for McMahon, who took a casual trip to Nashville in April to flex his dormant writing muscle with friends Luke Nicolli and Ivory Layne. On his last day in town, the trio was able to articulate the moment McMahon had been living in: one of peace and letting go and accepting that the craft that had defined his life doesn’t need to be at the center of every moment of his life. He immediately decided the song needed to be released into the world as soon as possible and with the Something Corporate shows on the horizon, McMahon called upon his original band mates to see if his old friends would be into collaborating again on something new for the first time in over 20 years. “Death Grip” also marks the first taste of new music from McMahon since the release of his fourth studio album, Tilt At The Wind No More, in 2023 under his longstanding Wilderness moniker.

“I honestly didn’t expect to be releasing new music this year,” shares McMahon. “I’ve lived on the write, record, release, tour hamster wheel for a long time and decided after the last album I would do things differently. Giving myself permission to enjoy home, enjoy the reunion shows, and work on other projects has been really good for me. I have historically put so much pressure on myself to keep producing, to keep fighting for my relevance, and I often forget that some of the biggest moments in my career and my life in general have manifested in times when I’ve chosen to take my hands off the wheel a bit and trust that things will be okay. That’s what ‘Death Grip’ is about. Finding a rhythm in life that allows everything to exist at once without forcing things into being.”

“I was nervous to bring up the idea of collaborating with the Something Corporate guys again on this song, but they were so supportive and excited by the idea of taking what we did together so many years ago and layering it onto this Wilderness process I’ve worked within for the last 10 years,” McMahon adds. “Being back in the studio together, it was like no time had passed and the recording came as easy as the creation of the song had been. There was a lot of laughing, a lot of stories told and memories revisited. From the time this song was written to the time it will be available in people’s speakers, less than three months will have passed. There are plenty of arguments to be made for not rushing work out, but I think fast-tracking this song back into the world is the truest way to honor what inspired its creation in the first place. It’s a song about letting go and having faith that everything will work out, so we’re letting it go. We’ll see what happens next. I also have to shout out the Big Loud Rock team, who I’ve been so impressed with. When I told them I was excited to release music on this insane timeline, they didn’t even blink. When I said I have no idea what comes next but I’m inspired, they said they were excited to take this journey with me.”

“It’s a privilege for Big Loud Rock to release the first Something Corporate music in 20 years and be in business with Andrew McMahon,” adds Greg Thompson, President of Big Loud Rock. “We are honored to be a partner in his amazing musical journey and are excited to help tell their story.”

Something Corporate’s Out Of Office Tour officially begins tonight (June 20th) at Brooklyn Steel with its first weekend on the road featuring shows in New York City (June 21st at The Rooftop at Pier 17), Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh. The 21-date, sold-out reunion tour from the Orange County, California quintet continues throughout the summer and fall stopping in Portland, Seattle, Washington, DCBoston, Nashville, Atlanta, Cleveland, and Denver, among other cities, before wrapping back home with two California showsOctober 11th at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles and October 12th at The Warfield in San Francisco. Something Corporate will also be performing at select festivals including Chicago’s Riot Fest and Austin City Limits (weekend 1 only). The Out Of Office Tour marks the first official cross-country outing featuring the five original members of Something Corporate in over 20 years. See below for full list of upcoming tour dates. Visit www.somethingcorporate.com for more info and PRESS HERE to watch the tour promo video.

To combat scalping and ensure as many real fans as possible are able to attend the Out Of Office Tour and get affordable tickets, Something Corporate implemented various anti-scalping efforts, with McMahon leading the process alongside his management team at C3 and booking agency WME, who all worked extensively with each show’s promoter. For more insight, check out this exclusive interview feature with Variety.

Something Corporate – Andrew McMahon (vocals, piano), Josh Partington (guitar), Kevin “Clutch” Page (bass), Brian Ireland (drums), and William Tell (guitar) – first reunited in 2023 for main stage performances at the When We Were Young festival and three sold-out headlining shows in Las Vegas and Anaheim. The five reunion performances, the first official shows from the band’s five core members in two decades, also saw McMahon debut a one-of-a-kind upright piano fully wrapped in Christie MicroTiles LED displaying images and lyrics from throughout Something Corporate’s catalog, which will be front and center once again on the Out Of Office Tour.

Ghost – RITE HERE RIGHT NOW (Sneak Preview)

“David Draiman, the iconic lead singer of the heavy metal band Disturbed, recently embarked on a meaningful journey to Israel, where he visited the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).  As a proud Jewish-American, Draiman has always been vocal about his heritage and unwavering support for Israel.  During his trip, he had the opportunity to interact with IDF soldiers, expressing his gratitude for their service and dedication to protecting the nation.  This visit not only strengthened Draiman’s connection to his roots but also served as a powerful symbol of solidarity between the artist and the Israeli military forces. His presence undoubtedly boosted the morale of the troops, reminding them of the global support they receive, especially from influential figures like Draiman who use their platform to advocate for Israel’s security and well-being.” (Perplexity)

“The Vans Warped Tour was once a celebrated traveling music festival that launched the careers of numerous punk and alternative bands. However, its legacy has been marred by a pervasive culture of sexual misconduct and misogyny. Over its 24-year run, the festival faced numerous allegations of harassment and assault, with founder Kevin Lyman dismissing such incidents as “part of the culture.

“Despite claims of addressing these issues, Warped Tour continued to provide a platform for artists accused of misconduct, including Jake McElfresh (Front Porch Step) and Ronnie Radke, who faced allegations of inappropriate interactions with underage fans. The male-dominated lineups and “bro culture” fostered an environment where female artists and attendees often felt unsafe or objectified.

“As the #MeToo movement gained momentum, Warped Tour’s failure to adequately address systemic issues of exploitation within its ranks became increasingly untenable. The festival’s demise in 2018 coincided with a reckoning for the broader alternative music scene, which has seen numerous high-profile cases of artists abusing their power and preying on vulnerable young fans.

“While Warped Tour provided a sense of community for many, its legacy is overshadowed by the trauma experienced by countless individuals who fell victim to the predatory behavior it enabled and normalized. As the music industry continues to grapple with its deep-rooted problems of misconduct and gender-based discrimination, the cautionary tale of Warped Tour serves as a reminder of the need for accountability and systemic change.” (Perplexity)

Premiere: Brave New World release music video for single “Craterhoof”

We are thrilled to premiere Florida-based rockers Brave New World’s new music video for upcoming single “Craterhoof”, due out June 14th, 2024.

Brave New World is a group that’s been around the better part of a decade, with an impressive discography to show after all this time. With an album and three EPs under their belt, the band, which hearkens back to post-hardcore greats like Underoath and manages to capture the intrigue of modern mainstays such as Holding Abscence, crafts a familiar, engaging sound that has dazzled the Florida scene for years.

In “Craterhoof”, Brave New World embrace an audible presentation akin to Moodring and Loathe, dripping in reverb and full of hooks with a driven influence at its core. Echoing vocals and climactic guitars into the chorus, the soundscape is one to get immersed in. Distressed, impassioned shouts are an auditory assault that close out “Craterhoof” in eclectic fashion.

The “Craterhoof” video shows Brave New World performing the song with an ethereal orange backdrop. Great usage of shadows of each member further push the dreamy vibes the instrumentals create. Once the song really picks up, watching the vocalist deliver his crushing lyrics on the floor makes for a memorable moment to close out the track in convincing fashion.

Amassing more than a million streams to date on Spotify, Brave New World have garnered a steadfast, dedicated fanbase. Local fans will be delighted to see the group kick off this single with a headliner show at The Handlebar in Pensacola, with support from Blind Tiger, Kairo, and Slow Degrade, on June 21st. Followed up by sharing the stage with Evergreen Terrace in Panama City on June 22nd, the band is sure to earmark their place in the scene with a steady show schedule.
