Album Review: Hollywood Vampires – Rise

Hollywood Vampires is an American rocksupergroup formed in 2015 by Alice CooperJohnny Depp, and Joe Perryto honor the music of the rock stars who died from excess in the 1970s. The band name derives from The Hollywood Vampires, a celebrity drinking club formed by Cooper in the 1970s which included but was not limited to: John Lennonand Ringo Starr of The BeatlesKeith Moon of The Who, and Micky Dolenz of The Monkees.

Enter Shikari Announce Intimate “Stop The Clocks Tour”

Enter Shikari Brings The Intimate
Stop The Clocks Tour to the US
w/ Special Guest Can’t Swim

Whether it’s playing to an audience of tens of thousands like they do regularly around the world or just a few hundred for an intimate show, few bands can command a stage as powerfully as UK’s massively popular band ENTER SHIKARI. U.S. audiences will witness their close and personal side when St. Albans’ favorite sons come storming North America for a short run of dates on their Stop The Clocks North America Tour in September 2019.

These twelve stops will be the band’s first shows this side of the Atlantic since Jan/Feb 2018’s tour on the back of their most recent album, The Spark. They will be joined by New Jersey’s celebrated CAN’T SWIM on all dates, except Chicago. The whole night will feature just the two bands, allowing both to perform full sets.

In keeping with the “deliberately intimate” nature of the band’s early 2019 excursions around the UK and Europe, the tour sees venues substantially smaller than would “normally” be booked for an Enter Shikari run in cities such as New York, Philadelphia and Toronto. With venues such as NYC’s Bowery Ballroom (cap.: 575), Philadelphia’s The Foundry (cap.: 450), and Chicago’s Lincoln Hall (cap.: 500), they will be playing venues that are almost 50% the capacity of their last t visits, giving fans the opportunity to experience the band up close and personal.  Tickets on sale this Friday, June 21st.

SEPTEMBER
Friday 20th   AUSTIN, TX – Barracuda
Saturday 21st DALLAS, TX – Deep Ellum Art Co.
Monday 23rd NASHVILLE, TN – The Basement East
Tuesday 24th ATLANTA, GA – The Loft
Thursday 26th BALTIMORE, MD – Soundstage
Sunday 29th PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Foundry
Monday 30th NEW YORK, NY – Bowery Ballroom

OCTOBER
Wednesday 2nd  OTTAWA, ON – Maverick’s
Thursday 3rd TORONTO, ON – The Mod Club
Friday 4th DETROIT, MI – Crofoot Ballroom
Saturday 5th  GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Pyramid Scheme
Monday 7th CHICAGO, IL – Lincoln Hall

Frontman Rou Reynolds says of this jaunt:

“We felt it was wrong to close out the Stop The Clocks tours without trying to get back to North America to bring the whole ‘Spark-era’ full circle. The more cozy shows should see the kind of sweaty mayhem we need to see us off into writing the next album. Gutted we can’t get over to the West Coast this time around, but commitments back home just won’t let that happen. So we hope we can make that up to our friends in California and nearby states before too long”.

To accompany the tour announcement, the band have released footage of The Quickfire Round (in its various guises) which has become the stuff of legend in Shikari-fan circles. Filmed in January 2018 at the Austin, TX show that kicked off The Spark Tour, Enter Shikari played four songs in eight minutes. A test of any audience’s mettle in any environment, this particular performance was especially memorable since it was filmed at an outdoor show in surprise zero-degree weather in Texas.

Named for the as-yet-unreleased fan favorite that the band have been playing since December 2018, The Stop The Clocks Tour finds the band enjoying themselves like never before. Riding on a wave of audience adulation and critical mass, Enter Shikari are existing in the moment, just like the lyrics of the song.

Enter Shikari is Chris Batten (bass), Rou Reynolds (lead vocals /  keyboards), Rob Rolfe (drums), and Rory Clewlow (guitars).  Their latest album The Spark was released on September 22, 2017 and spawned three singles in “Live Outside”“Rabble Rouser” and “The Sights.”

Atreyu Release “House of Gold” Music Video

Atreyu Release “House Of Gold” Video
Band Appearing On Disrupt Festival This Summer

Atreyu have dropped the video for their new single “House of Gold,” directed by Monte Legaspi. Watch it here.

“‘House of Gold’ is a really important song on the album, especially for myself and Alex. This song is about finding pure love. For us, that was through our children. It’s finding something or someone that truly gives you purpose,” said drummer Brandon Saller.

“For the video, we didn’t want to take a literal approach,” he continued. “We wanted to sort of just go off the rails. We wanted to continue to do things that seemed fresh to us, aesthetically. This is an extension of the video aesthetic that we dove into so far on this record, but with a sort of comic book-like, alternate reality twist. The director, Monte Legaspi, really made the concept his own and created something truly unique.”

The song appears on the band’s latest effort, In Our Wake, out now via Spinefarm Records.

The band will also appear on the newly launching Disrupt Festival this summer. All dates are below.

BRKN Love Premiere “Shot Down” Video

Brkn Love Premiere “Shot Down” Video At Substream
Band Confirms New Tour Dates

BRKNLOVE, the brainchild of Toronto singer and guitarist Justin Benlolo, have premiered the video for “Shot Down” over at Substream.

Watch it here and here  — the latter link will be live as of June 19.

“When we came up with idea to shoot a video like this, we wanted to it to reflect the sound of the song, which is raw and unfiltered,” Benlolo told Substream. “We didn’t need anything complicated — just a great view of us doing what we do in this sort of mystical ether. ‘Shot Down’ is two and a half minutes of non-stop bulldozing. It was one of the last songs written for our record. I wanted something that crushed from the minute it started to the second it stopped. I’m happy to say that I think we achieved just that. Having this as the initial view into the BRKN LOVE universe is very exciting and important to us. We hope you enjoy and keep on rocking.”

BRKN LOVE will release their Spinefarm Records debut, produced by Joel Hamilton [Highly Suspect, Pretty Lights], later this year.

The band will hit the road later this summer. All current tour dates are below.

Tropical F*** Storm Release New Album, Braindrops, on Aug. 23; Stream “Paradise” Now

Tropical F*** Storm Release New Album, Braindrops,
On Aug. 23 Via Joyful Noise Recordings

Band Previews New Album With “Paradise” Song Stream
North American Tour Kicks Off On Aug. 28

Tropical F*** Storm, the off-kilter, avant-psych Australian outfit, release their sophomore album, Braindrops, on Aug. 23 via Joyful Noise Recordings.

“I’ve invented fake news as a genre of music,” TFS singer/songwriter Gareth Liddiard states on the new album. Braindrops overflows with compelling sounds and visions that reflect the often dark and fractured reality of life on planet Earth as we hurtle toward environmental and social decay at a frighteningly rapid clip. Liddiard and his TFS co-conspirators, bass player Fiona Kitschin (his Drones’ bandmate), guitar player Erica Hung (Harmony/Palm Springs) and drummer Lauren Hammel (High Tension) recorded the nine-song album in the Australian outback, at the outfit’s “Dodgy Brothers Studio” in regional Victoria. A preview of the nine-song collection is available via the newly released song “Paradise”

Tropical F*** Storm released their debut, A Laughing Death In Meatspace, to worldwide acclaim, with Australia’s Double J saying the album is “filled with the sort of acerbic wit only Gareth Liddiard can muster, this is the most essential, moody, pulverising, funny, off-key, venomous Antipodean post punk album of the year.”

The UK’s Guardian newspaper called the nine-track release “a glorious detour into deconstructed rock music, reflective of social malaise and unafraid to tell it like it is.” U.S. outlets praised the release, with Slatesaying the outfit sound “like the Mekons under assault by both Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band and a sentient PlayStation,” adding “Tropical F*** Storm radiates a vitality I would follow anywhere, very much at my own risk.”

The band previously released the track “The Planet of Straw Men” (https://youtu.be/M2xOxmHTYMg) as a limited edition 7-inch and accompanying digital single.

Tropical F*** Storm tour dates:

Alter Bridge To Release Sixth Album Walk The Sky in Fall 2019

Alter Bridge To Release Sixth Studio Album
Walk The Sky on October 18th, 2019

Pre-Order Now Available at
https://smarturl.it/WalkTheSky

For over 15 years, Alter Bridge has been a band known for blurring the line between hard rock and heavy metal. Building upon the sound that has won the band worldwide critical acclaim and a devoted global fan base, the band returns with their sixth studio album, Walk The Sky. The album is scheduled for worldwide release on October 18th via Napalm Records.

The fourteen-track opus marks a creative highpoint for the quartet comprised of Myles Kennedy on vocals/guitars, Mark Tremonti on guitars/vocals, Brian Marshall on bass and Scott Phillips on drums. Walk The Sky is a complete career retrospective drawing upon elements from each of the band’s previous releases to create something new from the band.

Recorded in a way never done before, the album was born from complete song ideas created by Kennedy and Tremonti. These songs would then be worked on by the entire band to create the fourteen songs that would make Walk The Sky the listening experience it is. This varies from the band’s previous method going back to their sophomore release Blackbird where Kennedy and Tremonti would combine individual ideas and riffs alongside producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette to form some of the band’s most revered songs.

From the opening vocal melody on “One Life” to the moving finale of “Dying Light,” Alter Bridge have created a formidable addition to their music catalog. Songs like “Godspeed,” “Native Son” and “Walking On The Sky” are sure to be early additions to the live set. “Forever Falling” also marks a lead vocal return from Tremonti with Kennedy taking the chorus as done previously on the Fortress favorite “Waters Rising.” The first single “Wouldn’t You Rather” is quintessential Alter Bridge and will released in two weeks.

Alter Bridge will be heading out on a worldwide tour beginning in September. The tour will begin in the United States before heading over to Europe to close out 2019. The European headline dates scheduled for November and December will feature Shinedown, Sevendust and The Raven’s Age. The North American dates will be announced in the near future. The band has also been announced as part of the inaugural Exit 111 festival in October and as a headliner of the sold-out 2020 sailing of Shiprocked.

Alter Bridge burst onto the music scene in 2004 with the release of their gold-selling debut, One Day Remains. In 2007, the band released Blackbird, the album that elevated the band’s profile worldwide. The epic solo in the title track “Blackbird” was voted “Greatest Guitar Solo Of All Time” by Guitarist Magazine. ABIII was released in 2010 and the single “Isolation” gave the band their first #1 single. In 2013, the band reached an elevated creative and critical plateau with Fortress. It bowed at #12 on the Billboard Top 200, moving over 30,000 copies first-week and earning unanimous tastemaker praise. The record garnered perfect scores from Total Guitar and KERRANG! as well as acclaim from Billboard, The Guardian, Loudwire, Ultimate Guitar, and many more.

In between sold out tours in Europe and North America, the guys appeared on VH1 and graced the cover of Classic Rock Magazine who labeled Fortress, “The best thing they’ve ever done,” while Eddie Trunk called it, “A top 10 album of the last 10 years.” 2016’s The Last Hero gave the band their first Top 10 album since their debut. Alter Bridge has appeared on The Tonight Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live and their music has been used by the WWE, Major League Baseball and NASCAR to name a few. The band recently released the video and audio of their career highlight, Live At The Royal Albert Hall, featuring Alter Bridge backed by the 52-piece Parallax Orchestra led by conductor Simon Dobson.

Demon Hunter Announce Summer 2019 Tour Dates

Demon Hunter Announce Summer 2019
“An Evening With” Tour Dates

Demon Hunter will perform more than 20 songs each night at a series of special shows this summer.

AN EVENING WITH DEMON HUNTER is an epic mixture of fan favorite anthems and deep cuts that have never been performed live. Both electric and acoustic presentations will feature songs that span the band’s 10 studio albums, including their most recent, WAR and PEACE, which were released simultaneously earlier this year.

“We’re building a show that’s unlike anything we’ve done before,” vocalist/co-founder Ryan Clark explained. “We’ll have video installations, created specifically for this tour, during set changes. We are planning the biggest lighting/staging production we’ve ever done, surpassing even the Stronger Than Hell tour we did back in the day.”

As a headlining act, Demon Hunter helped introduce audiences to bands like August Burns Red. They’ve done several headlining tours and toured as direct support to In Flames. In recent years, they appeared at Chicago Open Air (with Ozzy Osbourne, KISS), Heavy Montreal (Marilyn Manson, Gojira), and headlined Uprise Fest and Rock the Desert.

AN EVENING WITH DEMON HUNTER will arrive in 10 cities across North America, with VIP ticket packages available through SoundRink. The tour concludes with a more traditional festival-length set at Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky, alongside genre titans Guns N’ Roses, Slipknot, Disturbed, and Breaking Benjamin.

Demon Hunter’s ninth and tenth studio albums arrived just two years after Outlive, which debuted at #1 Independent, #2 Rock Music, #2 Hard Music, #8 Current Albums, and #25 on the Billboard 200 charts. “On My Side,” from WAR, is still all over the radio. The music video for “More Than Bones,” from PEACE, is available now on YouTube.

Like Outlive (2017) and Extremist (2014), WAR and PEACE were produced by the band’s own Jeremiah Scott and mixed by Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Queensrÿche, Hatebreed). Singer Ryan Clark, a Grammy nominated designer who has worked on album projects for Alice In Chains and Foo Fighters, once again spearheaded the look and feel.

“No opening bands, just an entire night of DH mania,” Clark added. “Whether you’ve seen Demon Hunter in the past or not, you won’t want to miss this.”

General tickets go on sale on Friday, June 14 at 10am local time.
