Bowling For Soup Cover Blue October’s “HRSA”

Continuing their 25 year celebration year by releasing their take on a variety of songs that are near and dear to them, Texan pop punk favorites Bowling For Soup are very pleased to present their latest cover. It’s a song especially close to the band’s hearts, and that of frontman Jaret Reddick in particular.

The song in question is HRSA by their fellow Texans Blue October, a band that they have extensive history with. There’s quite the story around this particular cover, so please watch the video, and then we’ll hand over to Jaret to tell the full tale:

“We met Blue October many, many years ago. Both bands are from Texas. We played shows together (I have a great story about a Yogi Bear cookie jar that I will save for another time). Then toured together. Then ended up with the same management company, that we still both share. Most importantly, we became friends…Family if you will. I always loved their music. But I think it was from as much of a curiosity stand point, as it was just liking what I was hearing. And maybe that is whey they are as successful as they are.

The combination of both is something you just don’t find everywhere in music…Especially today. The song “HRSA” is a true story. I think I was about 25 when I sat, sharing a bottle of Jack Daniels with Justin in a shitty hotel room, while we were both on tour supporting Sponge (The USA one…Not the UK one…That is Spünge). I asked him about the man in the song. And the nuns that prayed for him. I listened to all of it and I was fucking fascinated! This was REAL! Like, REALLY real!   Jaret’s perspective on the track HRSA has changed somewhat in more recent times, following his own mental health issues:

“Many of you know that a few years back, I developed my own mental issues. I experience my first panic attack. Then Anxiety. Then crippling anxiety. I went to my Dr. I went to counseling. Things got worse. I got on meds. I decided to leave this band. Still things got worse. Bring on the meds. It took about 2.5 years of counseling, talking to my doctor, and trying different combinations of medications to become a fully functioning version of myself again. In that time, I almost lost my best friends, both in and out of the band. I gained a LOT of weight because I stopped moving and replaced activity with food and beer. But I made it. I made it out the other side. And here I am. Now, I listen to this song as a completely different listener. Now, on some small level, I guess I relate to it more. Instead of curious, I am understanding. And even with that, I can’t imagine the degree of things that Justin has fought, conquered and lived to tell his fans about. He writes books. He does story teller shows. And he does it in a way that is more honest and open that I think most of us would ever be comfortable doing.

“This is a song that Bowling For Soup hope can help those either suffering from mental health issues directly, or those that know someone who is dealing with those situations.”I hope you get out of this song something that helps you. If it isn’t something to do with your own mental health, maybe you will see something you can apply to another person that you didn’t quite understand before.Mental health is an epidemic. Especially in my line of work.  If you need help, ask. If someone needs help, be there! Most of all….Talk. Listen. Be kind. Be understanding.I love you guys.Jaret”

Lorna Shore Release Title Track From Upcoming “Immortal”

Lorna Shore Release Title Track
From Upcoming Album Immortal
Out January 31, 2020

New Jersey metal act LORNA SHORE releases the title track for their forthcoming album, “Immortal” today alongside a brand-new cinematic music video directed by Joey Durango. See it here: https://youtu.be/ZyBl3noTNSs

Due for a worldwide release on January 31 2020 through Century Media Records, “Immortal” is nothing short of a shock of blackened, symphonic ambitions and epic intents.

Says LORNA SHORE“’Immortal’ is an accurate representation of where the band has matured to. It was the last song we wrote for the album and ended up being the most challenging song to write. It truly shows the band’s maturity and willingness to grow and expand outside our comfort zones. Whatever we normally would do on a song, we strayed away from and ideas we always wanted to do, we leaned into. This song is an entire culmination of who we are and where the band is headed.”

The band also recently released a video for the first single, “Death Portrait”https://youtu.be/a94JYL1deLA

Formed in 2010, LORNA SHORE were quick to surpass “local band” expectations with 2012’s “Bone Kingdom” EP and its follow-up, 2013’s “Malificium” EP. Through each release, LORNA SHORE continues to prove themselves to be an increasingly formidable force and a ferocious live proposition. The 2017 sophomore LP “Flesh Coffin” showed a band that had moved beyond mere “deathcore” trappings and had evolved into a modern metal band, as uncompromising and accomplished as any of their contemporaries or influences.

Armed with new vocalist C.J. McCreery (ex-Signs of the Swarm), LORNA SHORE has made a record that stands apart from their earlier works. The earliest hints of that have come with the release of album tracks, “This Is Hell” and “Darkest Spawn,” twin deathly salvos released from LORNA SHORE’s early album sessions with producer Josh Schroeder (Battlecross, King 810, For Today) at Random Awesome Studios in Midland, MI. Recording for the album “Immortal” is the beginning of another chapter for LORNA SHORE and is available in the following formats: CD Jewelcase, LP+CD, Digital Album.

After recently touring North America with Fit for an Autopsy, Rivers of Nihil, The Last Ten Seconds of Life and Dyscarnate LORNA SHORE will embark on a European tour shortly after the release of the album.

I Prevail Release “Hurricane” 2019 Tour Recap Video

I Prevail Release “Hurricane” 2019 Tour Recap Video
Band Nominated For Two 2020 Grammy Awards

Supporting Five Finger Death Punch On Arena Tour

Capping off a banner year highlighted by over 100 million streams, sold-out headline shows, a Top 15 debut on the Top 200, acclaim from Billboard, and two GRAMMY nominations, rock juggernaut I Prevail have released a new music video for “Hurricane.” The clip is a live, 2019 tour recap that highlights I Prevail’s inimitable and impactful live presence by intercutting kinetic clips from recent sold out shows. The energetic ebb and flow mirrors the waves of irresistible intensity of the song from the melodic moments to the metallic.

Last month, I Prevail garnered their first-ever GRAMMY nominations in the categories of Best Rock Album for Trauma and for Best Metal Performance for “Bow Down.” The 62nd Annual GRAMMY® Awards broadcast on CBS Sunday January 26, 2020.

“Bow Down” stands out as the lead single from the group’s critically acclaimed second full-length, Trauma—out now via Fearless Records. Additionally, the single “Breaking Down” was named the 2019 Song of the Year by listeners of SiriusXM’s Octane.

These milestones further affirm the platinum-certified Detroit quartet as 2019’s biggest breakthrough rock band, inching its way towards mainstream domination. The group sold out its largest headline tour to date in the Spring and Summer, and just wrapped a tour serving as direct support to A Day To Remember in arenas across the country on the Degenerates Tour.

I Prevail will return to the road in Spring 2020 on an arena tour —their second in a row— supporting Five Finger Death Punch. All dates are below.

The story of I Prevail hits even harder than the music. They took a mental health breakdown, turned it into a powerful body of work, and made an audience connection online and I.R.L. on par with that of a pop or hip-hop act. These numbers—100 million streams and 100 million views and a Top 15 debut on the Billboard Top 200—remain unprecedented for rock. Trauma shocked the system quietly and continues to do so.

Skillet Announce Winter 2020 Headline Tour

Skillet To Embark
On Winter 2020 North American Headline Tour
with From Ashes To New & Ledger

12-times multi-platinum rock band SKILLET are returning to the road in North America this winter in support of their tenth album Victorious, out now. The band will embark on a headline trek, dubbed the “Victorious Tour,” which kicks off on February 6 in Wichita, Kansas and runs through March 14 in Norfolk, Virginia, as exclusively revealed by Loudwire. Joining Skillet for this tour will be From Ashes to New and Ledger, the latter of which features Skillet drummer Jen Ledger. Skillet are fresh off back-to-back, Fall 2019 co-headline North American tours with Sevendust and Alter Bridge, respectively. The band just wrapped a sold-out headline tour of Europe, as well.

“The whole band is excited to play new music and meet with the fans on the ‘Victorious Tour,'” says frontman John Cooper. “There’s something about going out on tour, connecting with fans, and having enough time to play everyone’s favorite song — whether it’s from the new album or hits from the Collide or Awake days. We wanted this tour to be very fan-focused so we went to our fans to build out the set list and added two VIP experiences, a Q&A, and a M&G, so there’s something for everyone.”

He continues, “The support on this tour is unreal. We reconnected with From Ashes to New at a festival this summer and I knew we had to have them out on the road. I’m also stoked to have Ledger back out and to introduce the band to Skillet fans who haven’t seen her rock live yet. This tour is going to be insane and we’re ready for it.”

All upcoming dates are below. The pre-sale is set for Tuesday, December 3 at noon EST. The public on-sale is slated for Friday, December 6 at 10am local time. Skillet will be offering two VIP presale packages, including a Q&A Experience with exclusive Skillet merchandise and a limited number of M&G Experiences available at www.skillet.com/tour with the presale password “VICTORIOUS.”

In other Skillet news, the band is celebrating its tenth Top 10 Active Rock single with “Legendary.” In addition to the track being tapped as the official theme song for WWE’s RAW on USA Network, the WWE also used the song as the trailer for the 2K20 Video Game. The NBA, NCA, and MLB have also featured the energetic track.

Killswitch Engage Tour With Light The Torch On 2020 Tour

Killswitch Engage Announce Light The Torch
As Opening Act For Headline Spring 2020 Tour

August Burns Red Serve As Main Support

Gold-selling hard rock heavyweights Killswitch Engage have announced that Light the Torch will serve as the opening act on their upcoming Spring 2020 headline tour. As fans are more than well aware, Light the Torch features frontman Howard Jones, who served as KsE’s singer from 2002 through 2012.

“We are excited to bring out Light the Torch, first of all, because they are a killer band,” says singer Jesse Leach. “Obviously, having Howard out with us allows us to make this a tour to remember. I’ve always respected Howard as a singer, but in recent years, he’s become a friend. So it means more to me now than it would have in the past. We are happy to see him back up on the good foot and singing his heart out again in top form. With both August Burns Red and Light the Torch, there will be no punches pulled. Just a killer lineup. Fans won’t want to miss this tour. You will want to come early and stay late. All hails.”

Killswitch Engage, recently recognized by Forbes as “one of modern metal’s most cherished acts,” will return to the road to headline clubs and theaters across the U.S. and Canada. The trek kicks off on March 10 in Cleveland and runs through April 12 in Boston. Lancaster, Pennsylvania’s own August Burns Red will serve as main support for all of the dates. Tickets are on sale here.

“We are truly excited to be a part of the Atonement Tour with KsE and ABR,” says Jones. “This one has it all — old friends, new music, good times. Forget the world for a night and come hang out with three bands that want to make memories with you!”

ABR singer Jake Luhrs echoes the sentiment, saying, “We can’t wait to rip through North America with Killswitch Engage and Light the Torch! This tour has been in the making for a long time and I can’t wait to hit the road and show everyone what we’ve been working on. If you’re a metal fan, you’re not going to want to miss this one.”

In other Killswitch Engage news, the band just received a Grammy nomination in the “Best Metal Performance” category for their single “Unleashed,” the lead track on their 2019 album Atonement. This marks the third Grammy nomination in the band’s career.

Atonement is out now via Metal Blade Records. All Music described the album as “the best-sounding record in the band’s catalog, bridging modern studio techniques with early-2000s ones,” while Consequence of Sound praised the band for continuing to “deliver brutal compositions that hook listeners in with thrilling musicianship.” Loudwire deemed the record a “high mark in the Killswitch Engage catalog and easily the metalcore icons’ most dynamic release yet.” MetalSucks summed it up best, saying, “There’s a reason Killswitch Engage have survived when many of their peers tripped over their ear gauges and fell by the wayside. They’re just really damn good at what they do,” while Exclaim! enthused that Atonement is full of “material so killer that nobody could ever doubt them.”

I fukkin bleed for Metal and @slayerbandofficial 🤘🏽💥🤘🏽 After moshing and hanging out in the best spot inside @theforum – the eye of the Slayer mosh storm – I got an accidental fist to the face perfectly smashing my nose instantly inducing blood gushing!!! I made my way through the sold out packed floor cupping my hands under my nose blood faucet to the bathroom. It was the gnarliest nose bleed of my life. It wouldn’t stop bleeding. Before the EMTs arrived, my friend @stephaniedcabral took this killer pic for @loudwire and glad she did. I was too busy & bloody to take a cool selfie haha! The shittiest part of this whole experience was missing SLAYER songs!?! After maybe a half hour out of commission I got back on floor and finished worshipping at the altar of SLAYER. I wouldn’t change a thing from what happened, it was poetic, symbolic and fukkin awesome!!! THANX SLAYER for making me bleed❣️❣️❣️ #metalambassador #slayer #bleedformetal #fukkinslayer
