Following the enormous success of 2019’s inaugural KNOTFEST ROADSHOW tour, the multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning hard rock band, SLIPKNOT have announced that they will once again be hitting the road this summer to headline the KNOTFEST ROADSHOW 2020 North American tour produced by Live Nation. Joining them and rounding out a killer line-up showcasing the best the world of heavy music has to offer, will be special guests, A Day To Remember, Underoath and Code Orange.

Tickets for KNOTFEST ROADSHOW 2020 go on sale at 10am local time on Friday, February 7th 2020 from KnotfestRoadshow.com

Last year’s KNOTFEST ROADSHOW saw SLIPKNOT play to the biggest US crowds in their history, hitting 30 cities across North America throughout the summer. This year, KNOTFEST ROADSHOW 2020 begins in Syracuse, NY on May 30th and hits a further 15 cities before culminating at The Woodlands, TX on June 25th. Much like last year’s KNOTFEST ROADSHOW and SLIPKNOT’s current European tour, expect tickets for this year’s event to be in colossal demand, so don’t waste any time in securing your entry to what’s destined to be one of the biggest tours of the summer.

Speaking on the latest KNOTFEST ROADSHOW announcement, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor had the following to say:
“We set a precedent last year – Knotfest is a showcase where you never know what to expect. This year is no exception. The bands we have represent all corners of our musical world, just like we do. And they’re exciting as hell. I can’t wait to watch and enjoy them along with the rest of the fans.”

Adding to this, A Day To Remember guitarist Neil Westfall says
“We are stoked to share the stage with a band that has defined heavy music for an entire generation. This tour will be one of the best live shows this year.”

Underoath’s Chris Dudley says
“When Slipknot asks you to come along for a summer of insanity, there are exactly zero questions to ask. You say yes. This is absolutely going to be one for the books….and we’re ready.”

And drummer and vocalist of Code Orange, Jami Morgan states
“We’re very grateful to get the opportunity to do a full tour with Slipknot on the Knotfest Roadshow. Slipknot is one of the bands that we have had at the top of our list to be able to open for and hopefully be exposed to their amazing, cultural crowd that’s been around for a really long time. We’re very much looking forward to showing some new people what we can do.”

The Used Thrive At Sold-Out St. Louis Show | Photos

Photos of The Used at Delmar Hall.
All photos taken by Luke Spencer
on January 31, 2020 in St. Louis, MO.

Another sold-out show. The Used have become accustomed to this over time playing concert venues over the past 15+ years, and one look into Delmar Hall proved just how tight of a squeeze it was for everyone to fit in.

Opening up with “I’m A Fake”, the band hit hard for the first several minutes of the show and got good crowd participation from the barricade riders. The stage production added to the event with great lighting that many bands are skimping on while on tour these days. It definitely added to the experience.

After a few songs into the set, Bert McCracken took to the mic talking about it being a big day for emo bands (vaguely referring to My Chemical Romance‘s return and their North America arena tour selling out in hours). Bert would then continue adding “Since we never went anywhere, let’s play an old song.” It was an odd statement but the crowd ate up the idea of The Used playing something from the group’s earlier days.

A few minutes later, McCracken would take to the mic making a joke about how “England finally left the awful EU and good for them.” The joke…caused a notable silence. It wasn’t a moment of laughter or anger or disgust, but confusion. There was a noticeable moment of concern and bewilderment from everyone at Delmar Hall. Bert would address that it was just a joke and he didn’t mean to get political before leading into the next track. A few songs later, the show was back to normal and everyone appeared to be having a good time.

During the show, The Used performed their newest song “Blow Me” which is their first new track in over two years. You can hear the song below, featuring Jason Aalon Butler of Fever 333.

“Blow Me”

It’s good to see a band like The Used continue on the road and giving their fans what they want. Whether or not the band comes out with a new album in 2020, it’s worth pointing out that groups like The Used are still proving that touring and promoting can bring good music to fans across the country.

Setlist:

Elder Release Omens on April 24 Announce North American Spring Tour

Elder, the “masters of … epic-scale rock composition” (Rolling Stone) and “one of the most restless and inventive forces at work in the…underground,” (Stereogum), have set an April 24 release date for one of the year’s most eagerly-awaited rock releases: Omens (Armageddon Shop).

“To me, Omens is our most complete work to date: a set of songs that express the breadth of the band’s collective influences,” explains singer/guitar player Nick DiSalvo. “After recording The Gold & Silver Sessions EP, it felt like we fully scratched the itch to explore our minimalist side, taking a step back from the proggy song structures and heavy guitar work of our previous records and just letting the music drift along. When beginning to work on Omens, the goal was to integrate these two tendencies in the band – to make a modern day progressive rock record, but also to take time to jam and float when need be. Most importantly, I feel the spirit of adventure in our music is alive and well, and we missed no opportunity to bring in a whole new arsenal of sounds to the record.”

The five song, 54-minute album is a concept album that mimics the lifespan of a civilization, and also reads as a commentary on our own society hell-bent on profitability at the expense of our own lives and environment. Omens was produced by Peter Deimel (Anna Calvi, The Kills, The Wedding Present) and recorded at Studio Black Box in Noyant-La-Gravoyêre, France. Deimel and DiSalvo mixed the collection.

TESTAMENT Announces New Album Titans Of Creation & Release Music Video For “Night Of The Witch”

The time has arrived for legendary bay area thrash metal giants TESTAMENT to unleash new thunder to the masses and reveal their thirteenth studio album, Titans Of Creation, which will be released on April 3 via Nuclear Blast.

Today, the band releases the lyric video for the first single, “Night Of The Witch” here:

Chuck Billy comments, “It has been months since the final mixing of ‘Titans Of Creation’ and we are eager for fans to hear it. We feel that we put a lot into this record and at the end of the day it is a TESTAMENT record that stands on its own. We are very proud of ‘Titans Of Creation.’”

“’Night Of The Witch’ uses old school lyrics about witches chanting in the moonlight and casting spells. The beauty of this song is that I worked Eric’s vocals into the chorus. I wanted to incorporate him as he does Dragonlord and this song was a perfect match. It is a heavy song and a great way to introduce everyone to ‘Titans Of Creation.’”

Titans Of Creation was produced by Chuck Billy and Eric Peterson while Juan Urteaga of Trident Studios handled co-producing, recording and engineering. Andy Sneap was responsible for the mixing and mastering of the album. Eliran Kantor stepped up once again to create a new masterpiece of artwork for the cover of this release.

Titans Of Creation will be available in the following formats:

  • CD Digipak
  • Light Blue Cassette (Limited to 250)
  • DLP + CD Mail-order Box Set (Limited to 1500)
  • Includes Earth Element Vinyl
  • Vinyl
  • Fire Element Edition Vinyl (Limited to 2150)
  • Air Element Edition Vinyl
  • Water Element Edition Vinyl
  • Blue Vinyl (Limited to 500; Retail)
  • T-shirt
  • TS+ DLP bundle

Just as the elements of this planet thrive within all living creatures, each musician in TESTAMENT represents a necessary component of this latest musical creation. Still filled with a massive and unstoppable energy since their last release, TESTAMENT has taken their style to the next level and present an album that is loyal to the roots of traditional thrash metal while still including the alluring, brilliant and progressive ingredients they are known for.

SHVPES Drop Video For New Song “Hot Heads”

SHVPES have released the video for the new song “HOT HEAD.”

Witness the band perform “Hot Head” under, let’s say, compromising conditions here:

“You never know what’s going on with someone behind the scenes, as people can be going through a lot and appear to be absolutely fine,” says SHVPES frontman Griffin Dickinson. “When shit gets ugly, it can affect the way you see the world and that can manifest itself in ugly, negative traits. This song is reflecting on those traits and the knock on affect it can have on the people around you. Musically, it’s a big step into a more solidified direction for our band. We’ve always had an eclectic approach to writing music. But with ‘Hot Head,’ I think we’ve really found our own lane.”

Shvpes latest album Greater Than is available now via Search & Destroy/Spinefarm Records. Get it here.

U.S. fans can catch SHVPES at ShipRocked Festival 2020 — a 5-day, rock-fueled cruise between New Orleans and Mexico.

Heilung Amplifies History in New York City | Photos

Have you ever been to a show and immediately thought – ‘damn, I wish I’d also been here the first night’? Those were my thoughts of near-instantaneous regret when I realized, standing in the photo bit for Heilung‘s second NYC “ritual,” that this was not going to be like every other concert that’s come before.

With core members hailing from Germany, Denmark and Norway, Heilung can be described as experimental neo-pagan folk, but that’s where the simple descriptions stop. Heilung is more than just a Nordic metal band, they are, for all intents and purposes, a fully immersive experience. Self-described as “amplified history,” Heilung evokes sounds and energies from Bronze, Iron and Viking Ages with the use of historically accurate dress, instruments and lyrics.

Overall, the band is stunning. Heilung has crafted their performance into something completely absorbing – ritualistic sure, but also intense, immersive and judging by the reaction of many fans packing Webster Hall to capacity on Wednesday night, emotional. The vocals are haunting, the shamanic drums elevating, the battle cries liberating. And true to their name (heilung means healing in German), I could hear numerous fans exhale in relief and comment how the night had been a needed release.

Given the success of this short, but incredibly sweet, first run through the US, I can only hope that Heilung return to our shores in the near future.

In the meanwhile, check out some photos from Wednesday night’s show below. And scroll further down to see Heilung’s 2017 full performance Lifa on their YT channel.
