Dirty Honey Launches “Suitcase Sessions” Video Series

When COVID-19 disrupted Dirty Honey‘s plans to return to Australia to record new music with legendary producer Nick DiDia, frontman Marc LaBelle concocted an idea to make use of the unexpected downtime: Suitcase Sessions.

“I’ve always wanted to shoot videos out in nature, in non-traditional locations, and have a high-quality recording rig that was small enough to fit in a suitcase,” LaBelle explained.

The band debuts their first session today: a stripped-down version of “Heartbreaker” in front of a stunning stretch of mountains in Lone Pine, CA, a location synonymous as the backdrop for the most celebrated Westerns filmed since the 1920s.  Check out the video (directed by “Rolling 7s” Director Scott Fleishman) here:

Dirty Honey – Heartbreaker (Suitcase Sessions)

“I’ve taken my motorcycle up to Lone Pine for a couple of years now, so I know the area really well,” LaBelle explained. “‘Heartbreaker’ was written on an acoustic guitar, so there was something special about performing it acoustically with those snow-covered Sierra Nevada peaks in the distance.”

Also today, the band members – vocalist LaBelle, John Notto/guitars, Justin Smolian/bass, and drummer Corey Coverstone – see their second single, “Rolling 7s,” explode into the Top Five at U.S. Rock Radio. “Rolling 7s” follows the band’s debut single into the upper echelons of the U.S. and Canadian Rock Charts, coming in at #5 this week.   “When I’m Gone” made record industry history last Fall when it because the first track by an unsigned artist to go all the way to #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Chart.

“I think a lot of us can find ourselves in toxic environments that we eventually learn to call home,” says singer Griffin Dickinson. “It’s easy to get comfy in a bad place yet simultaneously very difficult to make the choice to leave those bad places when the threat of the unknown is so daunting. This song is about taking your life into your own hands, knowing your worth, and making those life-changing decisions that are terrifying yet liberating in equal measure.”

Bloodywood Combats Loss with Canine Themed Music Video “Yaad”

New Delhi based Indian Metal Band BLOODYWOOD has released the official music video for their newest single, “Yaad.” Shot in between the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas and urban India, the music video celebrates the universal human experience of love and loss through a moving story between a man and his companion dog.

“’Yaad’ (Hindi for ‘remember’ or ‘in memory’) is about the power of accepting the loss of a loved one and moving on. The lyrics celebrate the permanent impact they have on us, reiterating the belief that we carry them in our best memories, no matter how far apart we may be, says Karan Katiyar, Bloodywood’s Founder/guitarist, “I lost my dog 10 years ago and I still feel the loss to this day. I wanted the video to show the bond between a man and his dog to highlight its message.”

Watch it here:

In spirit of the message within the song and video, Bloodywood funded the purchase of an animal ambulance for a local non-profit animal shelter called The Posh Foundation, who had to recently scrap their existing ambulance due to overuse and break-downs and were in dire need of a new one.

The new ambulance, which will help save the lives of over 27,000 homeless animals in the National Capital Region of India over the next 5 years, was purchased by the band using the profits made on their very successful 2019 debut tour of Europe named Raj Against the Machine Tour and through their crowdfunding page on Patreon.

Bloodywood were scheduled to make their US debut at the Sonic Temple Festival which has been cancelled due to the CoronaVirus. Karan adds, “We had the US tour planned and we have dates in Europe in August, We are very sad we didn’t get to play for our American fans, and hope our August European festival dates don’t get cancelled. No matter what happens in 2020 we will be back in 2021”

The European Festival Dates:
07/08 @ Bloodstock Festival – Derby, UK
08/09 @ Alcatraz Festival (Swamp Stage) – Kortrijk, BE
08/14 @ Reload Festival – Sulingen, DE
08/15 @ Summer Breeze Open Air – Dinkelsbühl, DE

Bloodywood is a metal band from India known for pioneering a sound that seamlessly fuses Indian folk instruments with metal to devastating effect. Expect to hear the percussive power of the mighty Dhol, the melancholic flute, the single stringed Tumbi and several other uncommon, yet distinctly characteristic sounds from India. A combination of thunderous Hindi/Punjabi choruses and meaningful yet unforgiving rap verses along with the ethnic instrumentation makes Bloodywood a truly unique experience.

Trivium Share Video For Title Track “What The Dead Men Say”

Over the past 20 years, Grammy-nominated band TRIVIUM — Matt Heafy [vocals, guitar], Corey Beaulieu [guitar], Paolo Gregoletto [bass], and Alex Bent [drums]— have quietly claimed their place at the forefront of heavy music in the 21st century. The Florida-based band is pleased to announce that its ninth full length, What The Dead Men Say, will be released through Roadrunner Records on April 24. The album is available for pre-order here.

Today, the band has shared the video for title track.

See it below:

The video for “What The Dead Men Say” was fully shot and produced in the UK by director Ryan Mackfall during the shutdown. Trivium announced the release of What The Dead Men Say and planned to shoot this clipbefore the COVID-19 situation advanced. The finished product came together quickly over the past two weeks, with the full crew working in masks and gloves, and maintaining as much distance as possible.

About the song itself, Gregoletto says, “We always take seriously which song becomes the title track because it represents the album’s musical themes and ambition. ‘What The Dead Men Say’ started off as two separate demos but emerged from the writing session as one epic tune. This is a riff beast!”

Previously, the band video for the first single “Catastrophist.” Watch and listen here.

Read Heafy’s exclusive interview with Forbes about the new album and how he effectively utilizes the Twitch platform here.

Trivium released its now-canonical album Ascendancy in 2005. It was recognized as KERRANG!’s “Album of the Year,” achieved a gold certification in the UK, and eclipsed sales of 500,000 worldwide. Metal Hammer placed it in the Top 15 of “The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of the 21st Century.” It ignited a string of six consecutive Top 25 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 and five straight Top 3 debuts on the Top Hard Rock Albums Chart, culminating on 2017’s benchmark The Sin And The Sentence. That album elevated the group’s total stream tally past a quarter-of-a-billion. Additionally, “Betrayer” received a GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of “Best Metal Performance.” Unanimous acclaim followed from Decibel, Loudwire, Ultimate Guitar, MetalSucks, and Metal Hammer who dubbed them, “quite simply one of the best bands in modern metal.” Not to mention, they performed alongside Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and many others and graced the main stages of Download, Bloodstock, KNOTFEST, and more. After two decades, eight albums, and hundreds of sold out shows, Trivium actualize the all-encompassing ambition they first set in motion back in 1999. On their ninth full-length album, What The Dead Men Say [Roadrunner Records], the Florida quartet ascend to an inimitable nexus of masterful melody, hypnotic hook-craft, tight thrash, black metal scope, and cinematic extremity.

August Burns Red Share New Song “Paramount”

Two-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated Pennsylvania quintet AUGUST BURNS RED —JB Brubaker [lead guitar], Brent Rambler [rhythm guitar], Matt Greiner [drums], Jake Luhrs [lead vocals], and Dustin Davidson [bass]—have just shared the new song “Paramount.”

Hear it here:

The track appears on ABR’s upcoming eighth full length, Guardians, out April 3rd on Fearless Records.

“‘Paramount’ is one of my favorite songs from Guardians,” says Brubaker. “It has that classic ABR sound with a bunch of tempo changes and different time signatures. But there’s a recurring melody that glues the whole song together. I think this is a song that longtime fans of the band are going to love.”

Greiner further explains, “At times over the last several years, I felt indifferent and uninterested towards the things that used to fuel me. I learned there is actually meaning in suffering. It’s not random and without purpose. I found that the more I faced the fire, the more empathetic I became towards other people who are also hurting. I found meaning in the pain and stopped running from it. That’s what ‘Paramount’ is about.”

Listen to “Bones,” which premiered via SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal, here.

The band also shared the comic book-inspired video for the new song “Defender.” Check it out below:
