The Used Announce ‘Heartwork’ – Due Out April 24

After months of anticipation and teasing with fans, The Used have officially announced they will be releasing their 8th full length studio album, Heartwork, on April 24th via Big Noise.

In addition to today’s announcement, The Used have released the second single from the forthcoming album, Paradise Lost, a poem by John Milton.” The song and accompanying video are larger than life and carry emotions and imagery so unique to The Used throughout, while tying in influences from one of front man Bert McCracken’s favorite authors.

“I’ve always been a bit obsessed with Paradise Lost,” shares McCracken. “I really dug deep into the poem and its author, John Milton. As I was reading a lot of his political essays I realized that a lot of what ‘Satan’ says in Paradise Lost are quotes directly from John Milton’s own mouth. A lot of people thought he was the devil back then. He had a huge problem with the show of opulence from the Church. He thought it was disgusting. His poem is about the failed revolution against the Church of England, which is Satan’s failed revolution on earth. And what’s more incredible or exciting than a failed revolution?”

Fans can pre-save the new album and stream the new single today at https://theused.ffm.to/heartwork.

Heartwork marks the return of John Feldmann to The Used family as he is producing the album and also the head of A&R at Big Noise.

I couldn’t be more honored or grateful to have one of my favorite bands of all time at my record label! They are one of the most influential bands of the last 20 years and we are making a career-defining album at the minute,” shares Feldmann. “They are one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen and Bert is quite possibly the best singer I’ve ever worked with. This has been a dream of mine since I met them in 2001.”

Feldmann signed The Used to Reprise Records in January 2002, one short year after the band formed in Orem, Utah. He also produced some of the band’s most monumental albums including their self-titled debut, Maybe Memories, In Love and Death, Lies for the Liars, Vulnerableand Imaginary Enemy.

On Heartwork, McCracken shares “The new album plays on the emotions, the sincerity, and the vulnerability of the first record and In Love and Death, with a little bit of the flair from Lies for the Liars.”

Standing in the streaming circle pit with Kesha and Halsey, the album is just as modern sounding. John Feldmann’s production is that professional. It sounds really good. Those are two really random examples, but I think if you listen to both of those records, the songs are all over the place: dance, pop, actual punk rock riffs and drums. I think music is so all over the place right now that The Used fits in perfectly.”

The band is currently on the road for a completely sold out intimate tour with support from Dragged Under. This up close and personal show is unlike any other Used show you have seen. The band has spent the last couple of weeks performing previously released single “Blow Me (Feat. Jason Aalon Butler)live. It is frenetic and explosive while showcasing the undeniable vocals of front man Bert McCracken and has absolutely taken these small rooms by storm.

August Burns Red Announce New Album “Guardians”; Release New Song “Defenders”

August Burns Red
Announce New Album Guardians,
Out April 3rd, 2020 via Fearless Records

Band Drops Video For New Song “Defender”
Watch + Listen HERE

August Burns Red have been upholding the artistic pillars of technical proficiency, airtight grooves, and thoughtful lyricism in the hard rock world for 17 years now. The two-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated Pennsylvania quintet—JB Brubaker [lead guitar], Brent Rambler [rhythm guitar], Matt Greiner [drums], Jake Luhrs [lead vocals], and Dustin Davidson [bass]—are pleased to announce their eighth full length, Guardians, out April 3 on Fearless Records. The album is available for pre-order here.

ABR have just shared the video for the new song “Defender.” Watch + listen here.

“The song ‘Defender’ is about having that person who can come in and take some punches for you, and be in your corner during hard times,” says Rambler. “I am quite the comic book fan and I thought the lyrics could easily turn into an awesome animated short story — kind of like if the pages of a comic were to come to life. Luckily, everyone else agreed and we have this sick video to go along with the song.”

The band also revealed that the album is their most truly collaborative effort to date.

Guardians is the culmination of a complete and total team effort,” says Brubaker. “Dustin and I collaborated musically more than we ever have before. Jake and Brent collaborated vocally more than they ever have before. Matt bounced more drum ideas off of us than we could even comprehend.  It was the most time we’ve ever spent in the studio on one album. We’re all so proud of this record, and we can’t wait to share it with the world.”

August Burns Red will embark on a tour with Killswitch Engage and Light the Torch this spring in support of Guardians. All ABR tour dates are below.

LAMB OF GOD Releases New Song “Checkmate,” from Upcoming Self-Titled Album

LAMB OF GOD

“Checkmate,” from Upcoming Self-Titled Album,
Due Out May 8

Watch the Video for “Checkmate” Now via lamb-of-god.com
Pre-Order Lamb Of God at http://lambofgod.lnk.to/LOG

LAMB OF GOD has revealed a brand new single and video, “Checkmate,” from the band’s first release in five years and the first to feature new drummer Art Cruz. The self-titled album is due out May 8 via Epic Records.

Watch “Checkmate” now at: http://lamb-of-god.com.

“‘Checkmate’ brings together all the components of the LAMB OF GOD sound that we’ve been developing over the last two decades, but with the ambition and ferocity that comes with the start of a new chapter for our band,” says guitarist Mark Morton. “Re-energized and reignited, this is LAMB OF GOD 2020. We’ve never been more excited.”

The fact that the band’s eighth studio effort would warrant ‘self-titled’ status is a testament to the band’s pride and satisfaction with these songs and this period in their creativity.

“Putting only our name on it is a statement,” Blythe says. “This is LAMB OF GOD. Here and now.”

A true collaboration between all members of the band, LAMB OF GOD’s eighth studio album is an amalgam of each individual’s contributions, blended to create a singular style. Guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler fuel the album with a mountain of riffs, taking what the band are known for, and unbelievably, upping the ante to new levels. The rhythm section of John Campbell, looming large as a rhythmic shadow, and drummer Art Cruz, who makes his studio debut with LAMB OF GOD here on this record, underpin the proceedings with passion, sweat and expansive dynamics. Vocalist D. Randall Blythe is as angry, insightful, and informed as ever. Never one to shrink from facing the darker aspects of our nature head-on, Blythe delivers with no punches pulled, and as only he and the band can in 2020.

In celebration of the release of “Checkmate” and the announce of the new album, LAMB OF GOD will appear at a special show at the House of Vans in Chicago on February 14. The event is free and fans can RSVP beginning at 12 noon CST today at HouseOfVans.com The event will include a photography exhibit featuring photos from D. Randall Blythe that will be included in the new album artwork. Harm’s Way will open the show.

In the midst of writing the ten songs that appear on Lamb Of God, the group hit pause on the works-in-progress to man the stage as main support Slayer’s “The Final Campaign.” After months of playing their best-known songs nightly, LOG returned to the new tracks and began to work with longtime producer Josh Wilbur (Korn, Megadeth, Gojira, Trivium). Special guests Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed) and Chuck Billy (Testament) also make appearances on the new album.

The Used Thrive At Sold-Out St. Louis Show | Photos

Photos of The Used at Delmar Hall.
All photos taken by Luke Spencer
on January 31, 2020 in St. Louis, MO.

Another sold-out show. The Used have become accustomed to this over time playing concert venues over the past 15+ years, and one look into Delmar Hall proved just how tight of a squeeze it was for everyone to fit in.

Opening up with “I’m A Fake”, the band hit hard for the first several minutes of the show and got good crowd participation from the barricade riders. The stage production added to the event with great lighting that many bands are skimping on while on tour these days. It definitely added to the experience.

After a few songs into the set, Bert McCracken took to the mic talking about it being a big day for emo bands (vaguely referring to My Chemical Romance‘s return and their North America arena tour selling out in hours). Bert would then continue adding “Since we never went anywhere, let’s play an old song.” It was an odd statement but the crowd ate up the idea of The Used playing something from the group’s earlier days.

A few minutes later, McCracken would take to the mic making a joke about how “England finally left the awful EU and good for them.” The joke…caused a notable silence. It wasn’t a moment of laughter or anger or disgust, but confusion. There was a noticeable moment of concern and bewilderment from everyone at Delmar Hall. Bert would address that it was just a joke and he didn’t mean to get political before leading into the next track. A few songs later, the show was back to normal and everyone appeared to be having a good time.

During the show, The Used performed their newest song “Blow Me” which is their first new track in over two years. You can hear the song below, featuring Jason Aalon Butler of Fever 333.

“Blow Me”

It’s good to see a band like The Used continue on the road and giving their fans what they want. Whether or not the band comes out with a new album in 2020, it’s worth pointing out that groups like The Used are still proving that touring and promoting can bring good music to fans across the country.

Setlist:
I’m a Fake
Take It Away
The Bird and the Worm
Empty with You
I Caught Fire
Blow Me
The Taste of Ink
All That I’ve Got
