Spanish Love Songs Release New Video For Self-Destruction

Five-piece punk band Spanish Love Songs are exclusively premiering their new music video for, “Self-Destruction (As a Sensible Career Choice)” today via Brooklyn Vegan. Watch it now here.

Spanish Love Songs “Self-destruction (as a sensible career choice)”

The track comes off of the band’s third album, Brave Faces Everyone, which was released earlier this year via Pure Noise Records.

On the song and video, lead vocalist, Dylan Slocum shares, “This song is about feeling trapped. People like to say ‘it gets better’ about depression or anxiety, but this is about that creeping feeling that it might not. That maybe you’ll be stuck feeling a certain way, or working a job you hate, or with a body you hate, forever.

“By the time we decided to do another video, the lockdown blues had gotten pretty intense. Being the ultra-positive band that we are, we decided to throw ourselves little solo parties and invited our fans to do the same. four hours of footage later, it turned out we all needed the party more than we knew.”

Slocum continues to share about the new record, Brave Faces Everyone is us honing in on what we think makes our band resonate with people — namely, the feeling that you’re not alone. These are songs about looking outward and finding that, for all our differences, most of us are just trying to get by as the world is going to hell around us. We don’t have any grand ambitions beyond that — we just want people to feel acknowledged. There’s comfort in knowing we’re on the same sinking ship. We want the album to be a knowing nod and a way to make the world a slightly more bearable, even if it’s just for 40 minutes.”

The ten-track album, produced by guitarist Kyle McAulay at Howard Benson’s West Valley Recording, is steeped in the same detail-rich storytelling of Bruce Springsteen, The Menzingers and Manchester Orchestra. These songs represent the situations Slocum, McAulay, and their bandmates bassist Trevor Dietrich, drummer Ruben Duarte and keyboardist Meredith Van Woert experienced during 30-some weeks of rigorous touring during the album cycle of their previous record, Schmaltz.

“When you’re young, you just want to be heard,” opines Slocum. The singer and guitarist of LA-based punk quintet, Spanish Love Songs, is referencing his band, but he could just as easily be talking about himself. Since forming in 2014, Spanish Love Songs certainly have been heard, from legions of underground audiences at The Fest and South By Southwest to outlets like NPR, who hailed the group’s 2018 album, Schmaltz, as a “wellspring of big ideas, bigger riffs and the biggest possible feelings about love, war, fear and existential crisis.”

Over the past six years, Spanish Love Songs have released two albums and an EP. With Brave Faces Everyone, the songs are character stories set in small-town America and anxious urban jungles alike, unfurling heartbreaking tales of addiction, depression, debt and death juxtaposed alongside looming societal bogeys like mass shootings, the opioid epidemic and climate change. They’re all at once personal vignettes and universal truths of life in the 2010s, the lines blurred between Slocum’s own experiences and those of his friends and acquaintances. It seeks to find balance between realism and optimism.

“If you sing something loud enough and long enough,” Slocum muses, “hopefully people are able to find some peace in that.”Brave Faces Everyone experiments with more traditional song structures and fewer forwardly caustic moments this time around haven’t dulled the band’s sound. If anything, they’ve accentuated the most important parts of it. When everything is loud and urgent, nothing is. But when Slocum’s voice swells to a roar on this new record, the undeniable power grabs you by the collar and forces you to pay attention — and that’s the difference between simply being heard and truly being understood.
Brave Faces Everyone is out now.

Brent Smith & Zach Myers (Smith & Myers) Release New Album Smith & Myers Vol. 2

Today Smith & Myers – the duo comprised of multi-platinum artists Brent Smith and Zach Myers – have released their full-length album Smith & Myers Volume 2 via Atlantic Records, completing their double album – PRESS HERE to listen/stream Volume 2, which follows the release of Volume 1 earlier this month. They have also released a brand new video for original song “One More Time,” a gritty and colorful visual for the catchy alt-rock tune accented with solo electric guitar riffs – PRESS HERE to watch the video directed by Paris Visone. Both volumes showcase Smith & Myers’ ability to pack power and soul into songs created with nothing more than a microphone and an instrument or two, highlighting their sonic versatility throughout a mix of poignant original songs and unexpected covers. Volume 2 features five original songs, including “Bad At Love” a vulnerable and personal song about the difficulties of staying in a romantic relationship when you have a gypsy heart, full of clean guitar coils and finger-snaps and five re-imaginings of fan submitted songs including a grungy version of Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” as well as an electrifying rendition of Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer,” a euphoric version of Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back In Anger,” and unique takes on Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell” and R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion” (full track listing below).

Volume 1 and Volume 2 are available as a double album on CD now. The Double LPan exclusive limited edition 180-gram Shiny Black vinyl, is available for pre-order now and will be released November 13th. PRESS HERE to purchase/pre-order on the Smith & Myers store.

Additionally, Smith & Myers will celebrate the release of Smith & Myers Volume 2 with a special live performance which will be streamed tonight, October 23, at 9PM ET/6PM PT via the HelloooTV YouTube Channel.

Earlier this month, Volume 1 kicked off with a pair of songs that speak to the times we are living through – single Not Mad Enough” was written the night of George Floyd’s death and addresses systemic and racial injustice alongside a powerful version of “Rockin’ In The Free World” highlighting Neil Young’s timeless lyrics that are just as relevant today over lone piano, as well as an upbeat acoustic rendition of Post Malone’s “Better Now,” a standout version of The Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody,” and takes on ” INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart” and Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie” (full track listing below).

With two hearts and one truth, lifelong musicians, longstanding friends, and eternal brothers Brent Smith and Zach Myers put forth a body of work encompassing vulnerability, fearlessness, honesty, outrage, love, and understanding. Smith & Myers Volume 1, produced by GRAMMY Award-winner and longtime collaborator Dave Bassett, is the duo’s first full-length album and first original music since releasing a pair of acoustic cover EPs, Acoustic Sessions, Part 1 and Acoustic Sessions, Part 2, in 2014 when fans first fell in the love with the magic that is created between Brent and Zach in the studio and on stage, leading to Smith & Myers live shows that instantly sold out. With no boundaries on what their songwriting could discuss on the new album, Brent and Zach explore everything from certain personal topics that they have left largely unexplored until now, to commentary on children being ripped from their parents at the border, to the reactive nature of social media, to our national reckoning with racial and systemic injustice– focusing not on politics, but on right and wrong and our connection as human beings.

Smith & Myers illuminates the depth of Brent and Zach as a duo and showcases a very different yet just as intriguing musical side of these two versatile artists. As one-half of multiplatinum band ShinedownBrent and Zach can often be found topping the rock charts, earning mainstream recognition, and playing to sold-out arenas around the globe with 10 million albums and 10 million singles sold worldwide, 14 platinum and gold singlesfive platinum and gold albumsmore than 2.7 billion streams and 16 number one rock hits (breaking the record for the most ever #1s in the 39-year history of the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs Chart with their single “Atlas Falls”). Shinedown recently presented their first installment check of $230,000 from their “Atlas Falls” COVID-19 fundraiser to humanitarian aid organization Direct Relief, one of the largest providers of humanitarian medical resources in the world whose mission is to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergency situations by mobilizing and providing essential medical resources needed for their careThis follows the $20,000 that Shinedown donated to kick off the fundraiser in March, bringing the total delivered to Direct Relief so far to a quarter million dollars. More than $300,000 has been raised to date and counting.

Hatebreed Drop Video for “Instinctive (Slaughterlust)”

Connecticut hardcore metal titans Hatebreed will release their eighth studio album Weight of The False Self via Nuclear Blast on November 27. The 12-track album is available for pre-order here.

The band has just dropped the video for the ferocious album opener “Instinctive (Slaughterlust).” The clip was directed by Justin Reich.

Watch the music video here and below:

“In a fight for survival, which a lot of us are right now, we must channel our inner animal and trust our instincts,” says singer Jamey Jasta.

Pre-save the album and listen to the two new singles on all streaming platforms.

Weight of The False Self proves that over20 years deep into an iconic career, Hatebreed remain as vital as ever.

Renowned for their ability to provide an intense and cathartic release for their fans, Hatebreed challenged themselves and their writing style in order to produce material that is exceptionally relatable in a contemporary world flooded with overstimulation, emotional dampening, and lack of social patience. “Weight of The False Selfis a perfect representation of Hatebreed in 2020, a fresh onslaught of soon-to-be classics with all the elements that led you here since day one,” explains guitarist Frank Novinec.

Drummer Matt Byrne shares, “There’s no shortage of beefy riffs and adrenaline-fueled drums on this record. I’m proud to say that we will consistently provide a soundtrack to which you can mosh in your living room and destroy your apartment.”

Hatebreed previously shared a new album trailer, in which Jasta and guitarist Wayne Lozinak discuss the process of working with producer Zeuss.

The album artwork was created by Eliran Kantor.

Sevendust is an American rock band from AtlantaGeorgia, formed in 1994 by bassist Vince Hornsby, drummer Morgan Rose, and guitarist John Connolly. After their first demo, lead vocalist Lajon Witherspoon and guitarist Clint Lowery joined the group. Following a few name changes, the members settled on the name Sevendust and released their self-titled debut album on April 15, 1997, which sold only 310 copies in its first week[1] but ultimately achieved gold certification through touring and support from their label, TVT Records

Since formation, Sevendust have attained success with three consecutive RIAA gold-certified albums, a Grammy nomination, and have sold millions of records worldwide. The group has released a total of twelve studio albums, including a reissue of their debut as Sevendust: Definitive Edition, which contains five new tracks and a DVD.

Architects Announce New Album “For Those That Wish To Exist”

ARCHITECTS
ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM

FOR THOSE THAT WISH TO EXIST
OUT FEBRUARY 26

SHARE NEW TRACK/VIDEO “ANIMALS”

England-based post-metalcore quintet, Architects will release their ninth studio record For Those That Wish To Exist on February 26 via Epitaph. The self-produced record arrives as the follow-up to the band’s critically acclaimed 2018 release Holy Hell, which took a look at the pain and despair that lay at the heart of losing a brother, bandmate, and best friend in Tom Searle, the group’s founding guitarist.

On For Those That Wish To Exist, Architects examine the part we are all playing in the world’s slow destruction, and tackle the biggest questions facing the future of our planet. Such concerns that have long been prevalent in the music of a band who have continually championed and shared their platform with causes such as Sea Shepherd, are outspoken critics of barbaric exercises such as fox hunting, and who focus on sustainability in everything from their touring to merch production.

The record’s 15-tracks hang in a limbo between energizing positivity that it is not too late to correct our collective course, and a paralyzing negativity of defeatism; where hope and despondency are bed-fellows triggered daily by the simple act of existence. A reflection of human condition, For Those That Wish To Exist calls for all of us to rise to challenge established models and strive for a collective betterment.

“This album was me looking at our inability to change to a way of life that would sustain the human race and save the planet,” summarizes principal songwriter Dan Searle. “I wanted to look in the mirror and ask ourselves the question of what are <we> going to do, as opposed to trying to point the finger at politicians. Change has to start on a personal level. The world has developed a culture of wanting someone else to deal with it, when we need to take our own responsibility. It has to start there.”

Yesterday, the band shared the first glimpse at the forthcoming record with the release of the first single, “Animals.”

Atreyu Share Video for New Song “Save Us”

OC metalcore mainstays ATREYU have shared the video for the new song “Save Us,” which was produced by John Feldmann.

“‘Save Us’ is not only a reflection of where we are musically, but also a mirror to the world in this ominous moment in time,” the band says. “We chose to pair the powerful message with one of the heavier songs we’ve ever written. This song feels like the anthem that we all need right now. To us, it’s a call to action to light the fire in ourselves. We can begin to make great change — but only if we look inside first.”

With singer Alex Varkatzas recently departing, drummer and clean vocalist Brandon Saller will move into the frontman role. Guitarist Porter McKnight is now handling the harsh vocals, while Kyle Rosa joins the ranks as drummer.

Atreyu are working on their eighth album, which will be released via Spinefarm Records. “Save Us” will appear on the record.
