Content Creator Jared Dines + Trivium’s Matt Heafy Team Up For Collaborative “DINES X HEAFY” EP

Modern guitar virtuoso/content creator Jared Dines and GRAMMY® Award-nominated Trivium frontman Matt Heafy have joined forces for the groundbreaking DINES X HEAFY EP

Bridging the gap between online content creators and recording artists, the five-song EP is available today on all streaming platforms as well as on Soundtrack by Twitch, giving Twitch streamers a way to add licensed music from the EP to their Twitch live streams during a 30-day period.

“Matt was pre-internet in the way he launched his career, releasing records, playing shows, and signing to a label,” observes Dines. “I’m post-internet in the way I launched my career by using YouTube, Facebook, and all of these other video apps. It is interesting to see the crossover though. Matt has done everything traditionally. At the same time, he embraced new technologies instead of shutting them out. By doing this together, we get to be in both worlds. The EP was recorded in a raw and real manner. So, it has a different element. It would be cool to show everyone it does not matter if you are a guitarist from Instagram or you are in a big band, you can do things together. At the end of the day, the goal is simple — we’re just trying to write good songs and create some cool shit.”

“Streaming actually helped me improve as a singer and as a guitarist, because I’m practicing all day in front of people,” exclaims Heafy. “The culture is very regimented. However, I have always had that mentality, because my mom is Japanese, and my dad was a marine. Now, it is a combination of three things: streaming, training, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Those practices made me better at what I do and prepared me to jump into something new. I took a very different approach to DINES x HEAFY. It all came very organically without any planning.”

To celebrate the release, Dines and Heafy have unveiled the music video for the single “Dear Anxiety.” On the track, airtight riffing collides with a seismic refrain upheld by Heafy’s soaring delivery. It spirals out into a flurry of soloing. Watch it here & below:

Dines and Heafy first crossed paths back in 2017 when Heafy blindly messaged Dines on social media. He went on to participate in Dines’ popular “Shred Wars” series, amassing 2.2 million views on their matchup. A year later, Dines filled in when Heafy exited Trivium’s fall tour to be present for the birth of his twins. Around the same time, Dines shared a folder of ideas and set the stage for what would become DINES X HEAFY. Mixed by Will Putney, Dines laid down guitars, bass, and drums in Washington, while Matt handled vocals and select solos in Florida. They unlocked an inimitable chemistry, striking a balance between arena-ready hard rock hooks and technically proficient metallic fireworks.

DINES X HEAFY EP TRACK LISTING:
1. Dear Anxiety
2. Can We Turn Back Yesterday?
3. Dying At The Sight Of The Rain
4. To Save Me From Myself

Eyehategod’s “A History of Nomadic Behavior” Arrives 3/12

Eyehategod have set a March 12 release date for the band’s first new full-length album in seven years, A History of Nomadic Behavior.

The album news arrives with a visualizer for “High Risk Trigger” a taste of what’s to come on the 12-song album. The song debuted yesterday on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal, hosted by Jose Mangin. Lyrically, the song is cryptic and abstract, but it touches on the all-pervasive fears bred by an invisible germ storm sweeping through the nation and a society sickened by police brutality: “Infection is the way, disruptive crowd takes aim/Burn down the rail yard house, destroy the U.S.A.”

Singer Mike IX Williams said of the songs on the album, “We’re not a political band, but it was hard not to be affected by the news from the past year. During this recording, I thought a lot about how stupid humanity has become and how America is now completely divided with these people who don’t believe in science and blindly follow liars and nonsensical ideologies. Some of those feelings may have found their way into these songs, but it is mostly subliminal.”

A History of Nomadic Behavior follows a period that saw the New Orleans based band on the road for three years, preceded by Williams suffering liver failure and a transplant. “We toured our asses off for three years and that’s where A History of Nomadic Behavior basically comes from,” adds Williams before touching on his health challenge: “Death is a part of life, it’s a roll of the dice. Sometimes you take life as it comes, other times you fight to stay alive.” The album was produced by Eyehategod, Sanford Parker (Yob, Voivod) and James Whitten (Thou, High on Fire), with mixing by Whitten. The band recorded at HighTower Recording and Hypercube studios.

Album pre-orders are available now, with the release available in a number of limited-edition iterations.

Underoath Release Audio + Video From “Define the Great Line” Livestream

After their groundbreaking, unparalleled, and influential OBSERVATORY livestream series this past July, which grossed almost $800,000 in total sales (including tickets, merch, and vinyl) across 54 countries, GRAMMY-nominated band UNDEROATH are issuing the audio and video from the livestreamed shows of the full album performances. Flay).

Underoath were one of the first artists to produce an immersive, full production that was completely livestreamed — to this day, the vast majority of streams aren’t truly live. Underoath approached this series as more than just the live performance, and as they launch Phase 2 of OBSERVATORY, they want fans to be able to access or own the audio and video from the groundbreaking event. If fans aren’t interested in owning the material, they can still listen to the show anytime via their favorite streaming platform. Music videos of select songs will be released weekly for each show.

The material is accessible here.

Revolver has also partnered with Underoath to offer a limited vinyl pressing for each of the three studio albums featured in the OBSERVATORY series.

The OBSERVATORY series influenced countless others in the livestreaming space and was featured in BillboardForbes, CNBC, Revolver, Loudwire, Alternative Press, and Rock Sound.

For OBSERVATORY, the band performed a show per week, broadcast from a secret location and including a groundbreaking new stage design utilizing full touring production exclusively built for these online performances. The series kicked off with the Grammy-nominated Lost In The Sound of Separation, followed by the gold-selling Define the Great Line, and wrapped with They’re Only Chasing Safety, which also achieved Gold status.

The Hu covers Metallica’s “Sad But True”

Better Noise Music recording artists, The HU debut  their ‘hunnu rock’ cover of Metallica’s “Sad But True” today, along with a music video.   The track is a unique take on the beloved classic that has over 142 Million streams on Spotify alone.

The HU’s distinct style allows listeners to hear this song in a completely new way. The band added traditional Mongolian instrumentation along with their signature style of throat singing and swapped out “Sad But True”’s English lyrics for their native language, Mongolian. The same distorted guitar melody from the original song helps drive the song forward, but the originality and musical prowess of The HU’s distinguishing sound makes this track stand out on its own.

With this cover, The Hu also launches THE BEST OF BETTER NOISE MUSIC: 15 YEARS OF ROCK series that runs throughout the label’s 15th year in business – 2021.  The compilation features exciting new versions of songs from their diverse rock catalog. The HU will kick off this campaign, as the band embodies all the label’s hopes for the future of rock – diversity, expert musicianship, passionate performance and clever creative collaboration.

Excited about the release of the new song, singer and Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle) player Galbadrakh Tsendbaatar aka “Gala” says, “Like millions of people around the world, Metallica has been a huge influence and inspiration for us as music fans and musicians. We admire their 40 years of relentless touring and the timeless, unique music they have created. It is a great honor to show them our respect and gratitude by recording a version of ‘Sad But True’ in our language and in the style of The Hu.”

Though they’ve raked in well over 100 million views on their YouTube videos and tens of millions more on Spotify, The Hu continues to find new ways of reaching new audiences. From their new cover song, to being on the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game and soundtrack, their original sound has carved out a genre that is all their own.  Radio audiences took the band’s 2 singles in 2020 (“Yuve Yuve Yu” featuring Danny Case of From Ashes To New and “Wolf Totem” featuring Jacoby Shaddix) into the Top 5 at the Active Rock format.

Earlier in 2020, The HU released the deluxe version of their 2019 album The GeregThe Gereg debuted at #1 on the World Album Charts and Top New Artist Albums,  Top 5 Globally in US, Canada, UK and more (Rock Music Albums) and Top 10 Current albums in US, Canada, Australia among other territories.  In addition, they released the documentary film, THE HU: ROAD TO THE GEREG on Youtube which looks back at the making of their debut album, along with behind the scenes footage from their worldwide tours, video shoots, and more.

The band is involved in the film THE RETALIATORS, a high-octane horror-thriller, starring Michael Lombardi (FX’s Rescue Me), Marc Menchaca (Ozark, The Outsider) and Joseph Gatt (Dumbo) with special guest appearances by some of rock music’s biggest names. THE HU‘s Jaya plays a small part in the movie and the band contributed their hit track ‘Wolf Totem’ featuring Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach) to the soundtrack.

Discussion Topics:
-Wes Boreland says no new music from Limp Bizkit is coming soon.
-Ivan Moody accepts a challenge from Jason Hook & Jeremy Spencer…which wasn’t a challenge at all and Ivan Moody is apparently very paranoid with an enormous bro-metal chip on his shoulder.
-Blue Ridge Rock Fest had fan voting on band vs band suggestions and it got weird.
-Congrats to System Of A Down for “CHOP SUEY!” hitting one billion views on YouTube.

Speaking on the colossal undertaking of shutting down Tower Bridge and transforming it into an in-the-round concert stage complete with arena level light production, Tilian Pearson, singer of Dance Gavin Dance shares “We are poised to step up to the challenge of playing a fully fan-voted set, and it is an honor to be able to shut down traffic in the middle of the city to do it.”

Sacramento has a deep history of prominent bands that call our city home and we’re excited to add Dance Gavin Dance to that list,” comments Mike Testa, President & CEO of Visit Sacramento.  “You can tell by their heartfelt words, and their energetic performance, that they love their hometown as much as we do and we’re proud to showcase them on the region’s most notable landmark, the Tower Bridge.”

DWP is known worldwide for their stellar portfolio of music and lifestyle events, which includes Aftershock, Bourbon & Beyond, Epicenter, Hometown Rising, Louder Than Life, Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival, and Welcome To Rockville.

Dance Gavin Dance released their ninth studio album, Afterburner, earlier this yearwhich has already clocked up 70.2 million streams since releaseand topped a multitude of charts on two separate occasions, once with it’s digital release hitting #1 across the Current Albums, Alternative, Billboard Top Albums, Digital, Current Digital Albums, Rock, Heavy Rock and Current Independent Albums charts and #14 on the Billboard Top 200 and again when the physical version was released several months later due to the pandemic, when it hit #1 across Vinyl, Internet, Alternative, Rock, Hard Music, Independent Current Albums, #3 Top Current and Billboard Top Albums and #47 on the Billboard 200 charts.

The album was produced by the group’s frequent collaborator, Kris Crummett, (Issues, Sleeping With Sirens, Mayday Parade) and Drew Fulk a.k.a. WZRD BLD (Lil Wayne, Motionless in White, Bad Wolves). The album is a landmark mission statement that encompasses Dance Gavin Dance energy past, present, and future. It is a dynamic demonstration of what the quintet does best, and is equal parts aggressive, melodic, and unrestrained.

Rejecting tired formulas at every step, Dance Gavin Dance merge progressive rock and post-hardcore with thick groove, brilliantly combining experimental music with hooks and a warped sense of humor. The group has amassed over 1 billion global streams, and 1 million album equivalent units sold across their catalog in the US alone. With hundreds of thousands of rabid fans engaged with Dance Gavin Dance on socials and their very own festival event, Swanfest, which sold out its inaugural edition in 2019 and is slated to return, once it is safe to do so,  in 2021, it all amounts to a full force band facing a mainstream that has overlooked them for too long.

In the heady tradition of Frank Zappa and Nirvana – people who made serious art without ever seeming self-serious – Dance Gavin Dance is a band that does what they want, how they want, confident that the audience will keep up. Tree City Sessions Volume 2 is another in a long line of wildly creative, boundary pushing endeavours by one of modern music’s most brilliant and unique musical forces. Don’t miss out on your chance to be part of DGD history, get your tickets now.
