Nielsen created Punk Rock & Paintbrushes as a platform for artists to showcase their creativity and wildness, their lifestyle, their talents and successes at gallery exhibits and music festivals. As an extension of these exhibitions, The Insides of Artists written by Outsiders represents these sentiments and reminds us that “Punk Rock is not just about music and paintbrushes are not just tethered to the idea of art, but instead the two together are the perfect combination of life in a radical way,” says Nielsen.

The roots of Punk Rock & Paintbrushes reach back to 2007 when Nielsen asked friend Tim McIlrath (Rise Against) to paint a piece of art with the lyrics to the Rise Against song “Survive” for her after overcoming a battle with cancer. The painting has traveled around the world with Emily and is an everyday reminder that “How we survive is what makes us who we are.”

Punk Rock & Paintbrushes: The Insides of Artists written by Outsiders is self-published by Emily T. Nielsen’s company Romantic Rock.

KORN Announce Global Streaming Event on April 24

Continuing a legacy of groundbreaking achievements and radical innovation, GRAMMY® Award-winning, multi-platinum band KORN have announced details of their global streaming event, KORN: MONUMENTAL

Scheduled for Saturday, April 24th at 1:00PM PDT / 4:00PM EDT / 9:00PM BST / 10:00PM CEST, the ticketed immersive concert experience will broadcast worldwide from the set of the breath-taking Stranger Things: The Drive-Into Experience. Produced by Danny Wimmer Presents, the performance promises to be an unforgettable set from the iconic band, highlighted by rare and sought-after deep cuts and classics from their legendary catalog. Since KORN’s latest critically acclaimed album, THE NOTHING, never received a proper tour due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, KORN: MONUMENTAL will mark the live debut of select tracks from the new record for fans around the globe.

Tickets for this landmark global streaming event are on sale at www.KornLive.com at an early bird discount through Saturday, March 27th.  Fans can also purchase bundles and V.I.P. experiences, including exclusive merchandise, limited-edition autographed posters, and a virtual meet & greet with the entire band, which will be available as a digital download. KORN: MONUMENTAL will be available to stream for 72 hours through April 27th at 11:59 PM EDT. Please note, this is a fully virtual event, there will be no in-person attendance permitted.

KORN vocalist Jonathan Davis remarked “We hope you take part in this experience with us. And though it is not the same as performing live with you here, we still want to bring you some great music and a fun show.”

Danny Wimmer, founder of Danny Wimmer Presents commented KORN’s global streaming event, “It’s always exciting to break new ground with a band like KORN that has been with us for so many of our biggest festival moments over the years. The scale of the vision for this global stream event is even more than we’ve come to expect out of a KORN show and will be one of the biggest livestream events from a rock band we’ve seen yet. If you’ve ever wanted to know what a massive rock concert coming to life in your living room might look like, this is it. So turn out the lights, turn up the volume and get ready to rock.”

Shocking rock music back to life like only KORN could, the band ascended to a new creative, commercial, and critical peak with their 2019 album, THE NOTHING. It marked their 14th Top 10 entry on the ‘Billboard 200’ and lifted them into rarified air giving them the fifth-most Top 10 debuts on the chart of any rock band. Lead by singles “You’ll Never Find Me,” “Can You Hear Me,” and “Cold,” REVOLVER crowned THE NOTHING “KORN’s best album in over 10 years,” while Metal Hammer affirmed the album “recaptures the genuine darkness of their earlier works” in a glowing 4.5-out-of-5 star review. “It continues KORN’s mission of probing the hidden corners and harsh realities of life within a shroud discordant darkness,” declared Noisey with The FADER adding, “KORN have never shied away from innovation… the icons have always looked forward.”  Los Angeles Times applauded the “…deep and potent performances from the band, evoking their ever-present rage but also feelings of loss and isolation,” while NME affirmed, “This urgent and important record will ensure the veterans don’t get lost in the shuffle.”  Once again, KORN redefine, revitalize, and reimagine the scope of rock music as perennial outliers and enduring iconoclasts.

HEILUNG Announces New Video Game Collaboration

Enigmatic Nordic collective HEILUNG is now proudly announcing their collaboration with MY.GAMES and Booming Tech for the new season of the ‘Conquerer’s Blade’ video game, ‘VII: “Wolves of Ragnarok.” The newly launched trailer for the game, featuring the track “Galgaldr,” can be found HERE.

With lyrics recorded in Old Norse and inspired by Völuspá – a prophecy of Ragnarok from the Poetic Edda – HEILUNG’s atmospheric sound will immerse players in a dark new era for ‘Conqueror’s Blade.’ HEILUNG will also see their name being eternalized in one of the new combat map locations, which is now officially called ‘Heilung Fjord,’ and serves as a place for healing.

More info on the game can be found HERE.

Following an extremely successful first ever tour of North America, in which every venue sold out, HEILUNG are returning to the states for one spectacular evening! The Danish formation will be bringing their mesmerizing ritual to the historic, century-old Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, CO on October 5, 2021. Tickets for the 2020 show will be honored at the new date. For every ticket sold, One Tree Planted will plant a tree in Colorado. You can purchase tickets HERE.

Last year, HEILUNG shared their first ever music video for the Independent Music Award-winning song “Norupo,” which is taken from 2019’s critically-acclaimed release, ‘Futha!’ The video was shot at the Neolithic standing stones at Les Menhirs de Monteneuf in France. You can watch the stunning video at THIS LOCATION.

“Norupo” is composed around the ancient runic poem with the name ”The Norwegian Rune Poem”. The poem was preserved in a 17th-century copy of a now lost 13th-century manuscript and gives a complete description of all sixteen runes of the younger Futhark.

HEILUNG will be supporting their 2019 release, ‘Futha,’ which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Heatseeker charts and #4 on the Billboard World Music Charts, placing on a total of seven Billboard charts within the first week of its release.

During 2020’s Game Awards, HEILUNG announced that they will be working with U.K.-based gaming company Ninja Theory on the soundtrack for their upcoming game, ‘Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.’ The announcement trailer for the new game features HEILUNG‘s song ‘In Maidjan,’ which is taken from their debut album, ‘Ofnir.’ Watch the trailer HERE.

The band’s music was featured in a trailer for the final season of HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ series. It can be viewed HERE.

This was not the first time HEILUNG‘s music has been featured in a commercial, as “Krigsgaldr” was featured in a 2018 commercial for the Adidas x Alexander Wang collaboration. Watch the commercial HERE!

‘Futha’ was released on June 28 and can be streamed HERE and ordered HERE.

Chevelle NIRATIAS Album Review

Chevelle is an American rock band formed in Grayslake, Illinois, in 1995. The band was originally composed of two brothers Pete Loeffler (lead vocals and guitar) and Sam Loeffler (drums and percussion), along with Matt Scott (bass and backing vocals). Scott was replaced by Sam and Pete’s brother, Joe Loeffler in 1996. When Joe left the band in 2005, Geno Lenardo subbed-in as the touring bassist until he was replaced by Pete and Sam’s brother-in-law, Dean Bernardini. Bernardini later departed from the band in 2019. Chevelle has sold over four million albums in the United States.

Dirty Honey Announces Debut Album & New Music Video

After a string of chart hits and live triumphs, one of rock music’s most exciting new bands, DIRTY HONEY, is keeping the momentum going with the April 23, 2012 release of their self-titled debut full-length. The Los Angeles quartet is also releasing a new single, “California Dreamin’,” with a news feature and video that premiered today via Rolling Stone.  Check out the single and pre-order the album HERE.

A bold opener with towering chorus hooks and slipshod grooves, “California Dreamin'” features smoking guitar solos bookended by massive riffs and hooks.  Lyrically, the single puts a different spin on the idea of California as the promised land: vocalist/lyricist Marc LaBelle drew on the tough times he faced after moving west in the early 2010s to craft a bittersweet cautionary tale that hints at personal and emotional turbulence.

“Lots of people come out to California, chasing a dream, and sometimes, people just don’t make it,” said LaBelle.  “California isn’t always the ‘land of milk and honey,’ dreams don’t always come true here, and that’s the perspective this song and video take.  The video is a dream through California that showcases the good, the bad and the ugly.”

Dirty Honey – LaBelle, guitarist John Notto, bassist Justin Smolian, and drummer Corey Coverstone – planned to record the album with producer Nick DiDia (Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam), who had produced the band’s 2019 EP; but the day before the band was due to fly to Australia to track the album, Los Angeles entered lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic and traveling was off the table. Still keen to work with DiDia, they came up with a Plan B:  record the full-length at Henson Studios in Los Angeles studio with DiDia beamed into the proceedings via the magic of modern technology.

Having to switch gears delayed the start of recording slightly, although this extra time ended up being a boon. Dirty Honey rented a rehearsal space and demoed the album’s songs in advance, meaning the tracks were in good shape when DiDia came onboard. “If we had gone when we were supposed to in March, we wouldn’t have had as many songs,” Smolian says. “We did a lot of rehearsing and got tighter as a band.  Except for Marc’s lyrics, everything was pretty much written by the time we got into the studio, there really wasn’t a lot of, ‘Let’s try this, let’s try that.’ It was more about capturing takes.”

Adds drummer Corey Coverstone: “Because of the pandemic, we had a lot more time to write and prepare, which was great.  It meant that we were able to workshop the songs a lot more, and I think it really made a difference.”

The Dirty Honey album does sound effortless and captures the lightning-in-a-bottle dynamics and energy of the band’s live sound. The collection boasts airtight songwriting that plays up their strengths:  sexy, bluesy, nasty rock ‘n’ roll.  LaBelle reaffirms his status as one of contemporary rock’s best vocalists on “The Wire,” while the gospel-tinted “Another Last Time” is a midtempo, organ-fueled album-closer bursting with soul.

Although the pandemic has thrown some obstacles in the way, Dirty Honey knows that pushing through those tough times will only help them come out stronger on the other side. “When you finally come through on those moments, that’s where the real magic comes in,” Notto says. “What makes all of our songs fun to play and listen to is we don’t allow ourselves to stop short of getting the best possible results out of each one of them.”

In fact, if anything, all of the four band members are determined to better themselves going forward. “As a guitarist, I’m always inspired by the everlasting pursuit of the perfect riff,” Notto adds. “I also wanted to extend the artistic statement that we’ve already made. We weren’t looking to sound different, or prove our growth, necessarily. It was more about, ‘Oh, you thought that was good?  Hold my beer.'”

SOEN Unveil New Music Video “Deceiver”

The provocative, imperious and engaging Sweden-based metal group SOEN reveal the haunting video for Deceiver’, taken from their fifth album, IMPERIAL, out now via Silver Lining Music.

Founder members Joel Ekelöf (vocals) and Martin Lopez (drums), along with Lars Enok Åhlund (keyboards and guitar), Cody Ford (lead guitar) and Oleksii “Zlatoyar” Kobel (bass) challenge the problems, issues and emotions in our increasingly frantic world. The outfit exquisitely contrasts the potently heavy yet eagerly dynamic in their latest video ‘Deceiver’.

The crunchy, metallic groove of ‘Deceiver coupled with Ekelöf’s mesmerizing vocals carries a somber sentiment:

“‘Deceiver’ is about battling whatever demons you have and carrying that constant worry on your shoulders, how it can wear you down and make whatever goals you achieve in your life pointless,” explains Lopez.

“It’s about standing up against that negativity within you and trying to keep going even if that negative shadow follows you wherever you go,” adds Åhlund.

The video is the epic finale in a three-part visual tale set out with previous offerings ‘Monarch’ and ‘Illusion“’Deceiver’ is the last video of the trilogy started with ‘Monarch’ and then followed by ‘Illusion’,” affirms video producer, Daniele Zed Berretta. “Time in the story goes backwards, to show us what happened before, and who the burnt man really is. Beneath it all, lies the concept of mankind repeating the same mistakes over and over again.”

Check out ‘Deceiver‘ here, and watch the ‘Antagonist’, ‘Monarch’ and ‘Illusion’ music videos here.

In conjunction with the release of ‘Deceiver’, SOEN has partnered up with Macedonia-based artist, Ivana Baloska, on the realization of bespoke hand-crafted jewelry which has been inspired by the band’s latest album. The new range is available exclusively via SOEN’s Official Record Shop here along with the IMPERIAL CD digipak, vinyl album, digital formats and special D2C bundles.

Due to the ongoing restrictions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, SOEN postponed the first leg of their IMPERIAL European Tour 2021 until winter 2021. Today, the band are excited to add fourteen new dates in Europe and the United Kingdom. The tour will kick-off in November 2021 in Odense, Denmark.
