EPICA Announce “Ωmega Alive” Streaming Event

Dutch symphonic metal heavyweights EPICA announce their first-ever streaming event titled Ωmega Alive. The universal streaming event will mark the band’s triumphant return to the stage to perform for the first time in support of their latest album Ωmega, their eighth full-length release the band’s first album in five years.

Ωmega Alive will be streamed on Saturday, June 12 at 12:00 PM PST / 3:00 PM EST / 21:00 CEST and will be available on-demand for 72 hours. Early bird tickets and exclusive bundles are on sale now at www.EpicaStream.com.

Watch the trailer HERE.

This one-of-a-kind online event will be the band’s most explosive performance to date with an enormous production on an ever-evolving stage setting that’s full of visual surprises. It will see the band perform songs from Ωmega for the first time ever, along with the band’s most popular songs and some other surprises.

Says EPICA keyboardist, and the mastermind behind the event, Coen Janssen: “After releasing our new album Ωmega, we found ourselves with great new songs aching to be played live, but without a stage to perform them on. We still wanted to give our fans the best possible release show like we always do, so together with Jens de Vos from Panda Productions, we came up with a way to bring the EPICA experience into the homes of fans all over the world. ‘Ωmega Alive’ is EPICA’s biggest show ever, and I can’t be more proud of what it has become! We went all out on everything we have to offer and I can tell you it is one massive audio-visual spectacle! Immerse yourself in the world of EPICA and join us in ‘Ωmega Alive’!”

EPICA was formed by composer Mark Jansen after leaving After Forever in 2002, and the band quickly gained attention outside their home country, taking big steps towards becoming the leading symphonic metal superpower they have long proven to be. After their ambitious debut The Phantom Agony (2002) and the surprisingly eclectic sophomore work Consign To Oblivion (2005), the road took them to new heights via their first concept masterpiece The Divine Conspiracy (2007) and their global breakthrough Design Your Universe (2009). 2012’s opus Requiem For The Indifferent, 2014’s bedazzling The Quantum Enigma, and their finest, most embellished effort yet, The Holographic Principle (2016), cemented their reputation as not only one of the hardest working metal bands in the business but also as one of the best. Period. With Ωmega, the final part of the metaphysical trilogy they began with The Quantum Enigma, they reclaim the throne without so much as the blink of an eye, amassing 3 million-plus streams during the first week of the album’s release.

Ωmega is an album of unity, of friendship, of the close bond the members share. An album that naturally came together as a group effort. And no wonder: Mark Jansen, Simone Simons, and keyboard player Coen Janssen have been playing together since EPICA’s conception in 2002, with drummer Ariën van Weesenbeek joining as early as 2007, lead guitarist Isaac Delahaye following in 2009. In 2012, bass player Rob van der Loo marked the latest addition to their ranks. For eight years, three records and hundreds of gigs, this band has formed an indestructible unit.

In the middle of a world in turmoil, of a cataclysmic change in society, EPICA somehow managed to create their most spectacular album yet. An album that is seamlessly bringing together metal and orchestra, choir and oriental instruments to a perfect storm constantly emitting goosebumps. A record with specifically written suites for orchestra and choir, featuring a wide range of ethnic instruments recorded around the world by some of the best native musicians out there. In short: They outdid themselves. Once again. And still managed to keep the songs approachable and wickedly catchy.

Since forming in 2002, the band has amassed an incredible amount of success, their current album Ωmega entered the album Top 10 in Germany, Holland, Belgium, and Switzerland.EPICA has toured the globe, performing at venerable festivals including Wacken, Hellfest, Heaven & Hell Festival, Heavy MTL, and Download, while also staging shows in countries where many metal bands have not played including South Korea, South Africa, and Venezuela.

Beartooth Drop New Song “Hell Of It”

Gold-selling, Columbus, Ohio-based rock band Beartooth have just dropped the new song “Hell Of It.” Listen here

The track crackles with a kinetic, punk rock energy from start to finish, and it never scrimps on the memorable, melodic choruses the band has become known for.

The track appears on Beartooth’s upcoming fourth studio album, Below, out June 25 via Red Bull Records.Below is available for pre-orderhere.

“‘Hell Of It’ is one of my favorites on the album,” says singer Caleb Shomo. “It’s meant to try and melt as much face as possible. This song was really important for discovering the guitar tone for the album and the use of pedals to expand on parts. The breakdown in this might be my favorite of all.”

Beartooth thrilled their legion of faithful fans last month with a blistering one-two punch! First, they surprise-dropped “Devastation.” The band quickly followed with the video for “The Past Is Dead.” The clip finds the band in performance mode, which is its most natural state. The members are surrounded by a stunning display of pyrotechnics and an otherworldly demon named “Barry,” who has been dubbed the official mascot for the album cycle and can be spotted in the album cover art pictured below.

Critical accolades swiftly followed the “Devastation” drop, with Knotfest dubbing the material “next level heavy,” while Rock Sound summed things up, saying, “Bludgeoning riffs, an earworm of a chorus and one of the hardest mosh calls you will hear all year, it’s quite something.” Meanwhile, “The Past Is Dead” was dubbed “anthemic” by Revolver, as Loudwire highlighted the band’s dynamic nature and how the song’s “energy remains high.” Kerrang! proclaimed it “a swaggering pop-metal nugget.”

In other Beartooth news, the band will appear at the Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival, which is set for the weekend of September 10, 11, and 12 at the Historic Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. Beartooth are scheduled to perform on Sunday, September 12.

Beartooth harness the sacred and profane, purging inner darkness with a dizzying light. The fearlessly determined and boundlessly creative Midwest powerhouse perfects a sound sought by a generation of bands. Their marriage of colossally catchy choruses and post-hardcore, soaked in sweaty metal, is without rival. Its effect is evident by their religiously dedicated global audience; tours with Slipknot, Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, and A Day To Remember; and a RIAA-certified plaque for their hit single “In Between.”

Their latest release Below is a pure distillation of rage — weaponizing its deceptively radio-ready bombast to deliver stone cold truth missives, each packed like a bomb with noisy rock chaos.

Below also revels in the darker underbelly of traditional metal, soaked in stoner rock tones and doomy dirge. Beartooth offer no cure. The recovery comes in the process; the journey is the destination. As long as the dueling dichotomy of anguish and cathartic creative expression remain bound together, Beartooth will be here to oversee the show.

BELOW TRACK LISTING:
“Below”
“Devastation”
“The Past Is Dead”
“Fed Up”
“Dominate”
“No Return”
“Phantom Pain”
“Skin”
“Hell Of It”
“I Won’t Give It Up”
“The Answer”
“The Last Riff”

These dates mark the band’s first shows since 2009 and their only dates this year.

We’ve been working for years to make this happen, so when I got the call that they’d finally take a meeting, [DWP Executive VP & Talent Buyer] Gary Spivack and I jumped at the chance to fly to Vegas. We sat down for dinner with Mudvayne, their lawyer Eric German, manager Diony Sepulveda and agent Ryan Harlacher – the band hadn’t even been in the same room together for 10 years – and pleaded our case for why the time was right for this to happen. We were hoping to announce this in 2020, we’re fortunate enough to be able to do it in 2021, and DWP is super pumped to have Mudvayne exclusively at all four of our festivals this year.”

Lacuna Coil Announces New Live Album ‘Live From The Apocalypse’

Italian metal giants LACUNA COIL have just announced the release of their new live album, Live From The Apocalypse, set for release on June 25th.

Live From The Apocalypse is the fruit of an unprecedented time. Unlike previous live efforts the Italians, under the yoke of the pandemic, cleverly devised a way for their devoted fan base to hear and see them on stage by organizing a special live stream event performing their latest album, Black Anima, in its entirety this past September 2020. This very special show will now be released digitally and physically (vinyl and CD). The physical album formats come with a bonus DVD featuring the footage of the original live stream.

To celebrate the announcement, LACUNA COIL have released a very special single, “Bad Things”, today, which has only previously been available in its original studio version as an Amazon exclusive track. The live version is now available on all digital platforms. Watch the video for “Bad Things” from the bonus DVD HERE.

Live From The Apocalypse will be available in the following formats and can be pre – ordered HERE.

–        Ltd. CD+DVD Digipak
–        Gatefold 2LP+DVD & LP Booklet
–        Digital album

The vinyl version will be available in the following colors and limitations:

2.              Sword Of Anger
3.              Save Me
4.              Now Or Never
5.              Reckless
6.              Through The Flames
7.              Apocalypse

9.              Under The Surface
10.           The End Is All I Can See

13.           Bad Things
14.           Layers Of Time
15.           Black Anima
16.           Save Me (Apocalypse Version)

By all accounts, this was no ordinary gig. Even though LACUNA COIL were in their hometown of Milan—at the famed Alcatraz Club—there were no fans to greet them. No roar of anticipation; No claps of adulation; No interaction with the people who had become deeply involved in and had a profound love for LACUNA COIL’s music and live shows over two-plus decades. The live stream energy was different. It had to be. With hearts on their sleeves, cameras rolling, and the world tuning in online, LACUNA COIL brought “Black Anima: Live from the Apocalypse” to life.

On one hand, it felt awkward to play for a huge empty room,” tells vocalist Andrea Ferro. “But, on the other hand, it felt great to finally reconnect with our fans at home and with the people working behind the scenes. A lot of people enjoyed the show—it was definitely a one-off event loaded with a lot of emotions and feelings. Live from the Apocalypse is an opportunity to offer a new release to our fans while the COVID-19 crisis is still a real thing, affecting them and us. The live album represents a unique moment in our career (and life) that will be forever remembered as that one time when we literally ‘rose from the Apocalypse.’”

STARSET Release Amazon Original Cover of “Kashmir”

Today, STARSET have released an Amazon Original cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir.” A staple of Led Zeppelin’s live show since its release in 1975, fans can hear STARSET’s take on the classic song only on Amazon Music.

Listen to STARSET’s “Kashmir” only on Amazon Music here.

“‘Kashmir’ has always been my very favorite Led Zeppelin song. The massive epic blend of soaring exotic strings and hard-hitting rock entranced me from the very first time I heard it as a kid and I’ve loved it ever since.

“Still, when it came time to picking a song to cover for Amazon, I was hesitant to put the song on the list of possibilities because —it’s Zeppelin. The band is amazing, the songs do not need improving, and many of the Zeppelin fans are sure to consider the song sacrosanct.

“So when I met up with Rob Graves, who produced the track, I initially suggested a number of other songs. It wasn’t until the evening of our first day working in the studio when I —essentially in passing — mentioned us having played a quick and dirty version of the song live for fun on a recent tour. Rob seemed to light up, explaining that ‘Kashmir’ had actually inspired him in a very similar way to what it had me. Once that was realized, it was essentially set in stone that, for better or worse, we had to do the song. So we did. And we did our thing, and we had a great time doing it. (Rob does attest that he referenced our YouTube fan recordings of our live performances of the track and would have nixed the idea had he not been happy with how decently we had pulled it off.)

“I’ve always heard ‘Kashmir’ as being one of the heaviest and most expansive Zeppelin songs, and Rob and I figured why not make it even heavier and bigger. Hopefully people enjoy it—a version never intended to ‘beat’ or ‘improve’ the original, but give it a STARSET spin while paying homage to one of the greatest —if not the greatest— rock bands of all time.”
