Alice Cooper Announces Fall 2021 Tour Dates

ALICE COOPER  will make his long-awaited return to the road on a headline tour this September and October. The tour kicks off September 17 in Atlantic City and runs through October 23 in Atlanta. Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley will appear as special guest on all shows September 18 through October 22. All confirmed dates are below.

Cooper, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, usually spends up to six months a year on the road, bringing his iconic brand of rock psycho-drama to fans both old and new, enjoying it as much as the audience does. Known as the architect of shock rock, Cooper (in both the original Alice Cooper band and as a solo artist) has rattled the cages and undermined the authority of generations of guardians of the status quo, continuing to surprise fans and exude danger at every turn, like a great horror movie. Alice Cooper concerts remain a “not-to-be-missed” attraction!

Cooper’s universally acclaimed new album Detroit Stories is out now via earMUSIC. The record is a celebration of the sound and spirit of the Golden Era of Detroit rock, and debuted on the Billboard Album sales chart at #1 upon release in February.

The Associated Press called Detroit Stories “a masterpiece of classic rock, soul and R&B in homage to the city that produced him,” while Entertainment Weekly proclaimed the release “a love letter from Cooper to his city, and one that encourages a deep dive into his own back catalog and that of his peers.” Variety deemed the album “a delicious tip of the hat to ’70s classics such as ‘Killer’ and ‘School’s Out’ without sounding like a throwback.” Rolling Stone enthused, “That spirit of rock & roll abandon still exists in Cooper’s music half a century later, and his inherent showmanship is why people still fill theaters to see his guillotine act. It’s also why his records are still fun to listen to: You never know where he’s headed.” Get it here.

“We’ve always had fun touring together and it should be a heavy rock show with Ace and a great way to get everyone back to live concerts again,” says Cooper. “It should be a great night of virtuoso guitars!”

Ace Frehley, KISS co-founder and 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, continues his reflections on a lifetime in music with Origins, Vol. 2. No stranger to cover versions throughout his musical history — having recorded, rebranded and repossessed such notable nuggets as “New York Groove,” “Do Ya” and “I Wanna Go Back” over the course of his eight previous studio efforts — this new collection presents a thoughtful and exciting selection of songs that inspired and helped shape the legendary guitarist. Foremost of importance to the original Spaceman is delivering an album his fans will enjoy, but one where every song also has a place in his life’s jukebox.

“I’ve known Alice for over 30 years,” says Frehley. “We’re good friends, and we’ve toured together numerous times and always had a blast. Our musical roots are very similar, and the combination of our two bands make for a great event that nobody is gonna want to miss. Being off the road for more than a year because of the pandemic has been tough on everyone in the music industry, and I’m really looking forward to seeing all of the fans happy, healthy, and ready to rock.”

Pre-sale tickets are available Tuesday, May 18 at 10am local time. Venue and radio pre-sales are set for Wednesday, May 19 at 10am local time. The general on-sale is set for Friday, May 21 at 10am local time. Get tickets here.

Riot Fest Unveils 2021 Lineup

Riot Fest is gearing up for a strong return to Douglass Park this fall (September 17–19) with a pair of announcements both for this year, and next year. In an unprecedented move, festival organizers are revealing the lineup for 2021, along with tickets for 2022. Three-day passes for both years are now on sale; 2021 single-day passes will go on sale next week, when more bands for 2021 will be announced.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Nine Inch Nails will headline the festival’s 2021 edition, alongside The Smashing Pumpkins and Run the Jewels. New additions for this September’s festival include Faith No More, a recently reunited Mr. Bungle, DEVO, NOFX, Dinosaur Jr., The Ghost Inside, Motion City Soundtrack, along with many others.

2021 attendees are no doubt ready for the return of Nine Inch Nails, whose striking headlining set at Riot Fest 2017 was widely regarded as one of the best performances in the festival’s 17-year history (a 2019 fan vote chose Nine Inch Nails as the #1 Riot Fest set ever). Since then, Trent Reznor and his groundbreaking industrial rock group have been decorated with multiple awards—most notably, an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last year, an Emmy for Reznor and Atticus Ross’ score for HBO’s 2019 Watchmen limited-series, and an Oscar for their score to Pixar’s 2020 film Soul.

Their headlining set at Riot Fest 2021 will be one of the first Nine Inch Nails’ live performance since their 2020 Hall of Fame induction. As for next year, fans can start planning extra early: The long-awaited return of My Chemical Romance will come to Riot Fest 2022, September 16–18, 2022—a hotly-anticipated reunion that Riot Fest fans have long hoped for, finally realized.

As a treat to fans, previous ticket holders can purchase 2022 passes at a special price for a limited time; ticket transfers to next year, refunds, and layaway options are also available (more info is available on Riot Fest’s website).

Safety measures regarding COVID-19—a top priority this year—will be frequently updated, as directed by local health and public safety officials.

Satellite Citi Releases Video For “Empath” As Part Of Mental Health Awareness Month

Up-and-coming L.A.-based hard rock duo Satellite Citi provide another taste of their anticipated full-length album with the single “Empath,” released today alongside a bold new video. Like many of Satellite Citi’s other songs that have a strong message woven throughout the lyrics and art, “Empath” is centered around the five stages of grief — Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance — and is being released during Mental Health Awareness Month to help raise awareness for this important health issue.

The band, featuring drummer/vocalist Anna Gevorkian and guitarist Shaunt Sulahian, say of the song: “We thought it was important to create a symbolic visual representation in our video, as the world is slowly crawling out of one of the darkest periods in modern history. The video ends with a shot of us staring into a mirror, which represents the responsibility that individuals have to be proactive and seek help when they are in a bad mental state. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to join the fight to end the stigma surrounding various mental illnesses that affect so many people.”

Along with the new song, Satellite Citi has released an exclusive new “Empath” T-shirt with proceeds benefitting NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). It features original artwork by Jaime Valderrama. Entitled “CHAMELEON,” it’s based on the subject of mental health and the struggles he’s overcome. The T-shirt can be purchased HERE.

Gevorkian and Sulahian are both Armenian-Americans born and raised in Los Angeles who first launched their career in 2015 with the poignant track “Rock Bottom” to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. In late 2020, they returned to that important topic with the powerful song “Antibody”, featuring Crobot’s Brandon Yeagley, that premiered on Loudwire. It was dedicated to the people of Armenia and aimed to bring awareness to the latest attacks on the country beginning in late September 2020 that killed hundreds of innocent civilians and displaced thousands more.

Both “Empath” and “Antibody” are singles from Satellite Citi’s upcoming fall 2021 album Fear Tactics, which is produced by the lauded Brad Wood (Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo, Liz Phair, Touche Amore) and features a wide range of inspiration from Black Sabbath to Muse to Halestorm. Previous singles have included “Black Magic,” “Miscommunication” and “Getaway.”

As a follow-up to their acclaimed 2018 debut EP Negative Spacethe new album will thematically center around the importance of mental health and represents the band’s own struggles of coping with fear and anxiety, that are even more permeated in today’s culture. As Huffington Post has declared of the band’s important messaging in their songs, which have also included songs devoted to LGBTQ+ youth, “Satellite Citi are on the road to delivering audiences with music that tackles important issues that our society is facing today.”

A regular fixture on the stages in their hometown of Los Angeles, Satellite Citi is joined live by two anonymous Spacewalkers on bass and guitar that further taps into the band’s curiosity of other realms and advanced life forms. The band’s name, in fact, is based off of the idea of a city, outside of our galaxy, where people communicate with their minds.

In addition to music, Anna and Shaunt love video games and writing—they are currently working on their first original sci-fi graphic novel called Spacewalker with former DC editor Jim Higgins, that will coincide with a new concept EP in 2022. Satellite Citi also has five songs featured in the recently released rock documentary Long Live Rock…Celebrate The Chaos, directed by Jonathan McHugh, that features bands such as Metallica, Korn, Slipknot, and Rob Zombie. The trailer can be viewed HERE. As well the band’s song “Getaway” is featured in the new show “The Freak Brothers.”

Cane Hill Drop New Song “Blood & Honey”

New Orleans band CANE HILL have announced their forthcoming EP, titled Krewe D’Amour.

Additionally, Cane Hill have released the new song “Blood & Honey.”

Watch the video, which initially debuted last month on Dreamhack’s Dreamies Awards Show via Twitch, here and below.

“Blood & Honey” boasts a buzzsaw riff and haunting vocal melodies — ultimately showcasing another side of the band’s frenetic musical personality.

“‘Blood & Honey’ is the first song off of our new EP Krewe d’Amour,” the band reveals. “After releasing songs inspired by ravenous anger, we wanted to switch gears and polarize our emotions. This song is the first of three to detail the motions of heartbreak and your ability to make the best or the worst out of it.”

Cane Hill previously released the Krewe De La Mort EP. The collection kicked off with “Power of the High,” which dominated the Devil’s Dozen on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal for weeks on end. It was followed by “Kill Me,” which was deemed by Revolver as “one of their heaviest songs yet.” The video for “God Is the Enemy” completed the trio of tracks.

BORN OF OSIRIS Release New Track “Angel or Alien”

Metal powerhouse Born of Osiris has today unleashed their latest video, “Angel or Alien“. Not only that, but the band has also announced their eagerly awaited album, “Angel or Alien” which will be out on July 2, 2021 (via Sumerian Records). With crushing vocals and intricate guitar work laced with electronic twists and turns, “Angel or Alien” is the successive album to 2019’s juggernaut “The Simulation“. Speaking on the album announcement and new music video, guitarist Lee McKinney shared:

“After what has been an extremely trying year for the world, we couldn’t be more excited to bring you our new album, Angel or Alien. We feel like we brought the best elements from each album in our discography and combined them into what you will hear on Angel or Alien. So, no matter what album you favor in our discography, this one should shine. We tried to refine and improve on each aspect that makes us Born of Osiris, and I think it’s apparent on this record.

The Angel or Alien music video was actually extremely challenging for the band and crew. We wanted to walk out into the desert where there were no footprints and find the right spot for the performance shots. I’m sure you can imagine everyone loading guitars, drums, cabs, cameras, power, etc. across the desert with each step you take sinking 6 inches into the sand. It all lead up to a moment I’ll never forget – everything set up on top of a dune in the desert, performing with my best friends and a great crew of amazing people filming, and looking over the desert in between takes as the sun set. I’ll never forget the moments we shared that day. I think I can speak for the band AND camera crew when I say that we truly hope you love the final product, it was both a challenge and a pleasure to create.”

Born of Osiris keyboardist and vocalist Joe Buras also commented:

“There is a longing for connection. It’s not always easy and we crave it whether we know it or sometimes not. We get lost in thought at times but we always have to end up facing the world, exposed to the earth. You can shine like an Angel or hide like an Alien. Either way your heart and time are going towards the future and the end.”

Watch the video for “Angel or Alien” here or by clicking below.

Written and produced by Born of Osiris, “Angel or Alien” was mixed by Jeff Dunne with additional producing and engineering by Josh Strock. The band previously released “White Nile“, the first track from the upcoming album. Click here for pre-save information.

10 Bands That Changed Singers (And It Worked)

Rise Against Announces Summer U.S. Tour

Fans of RISE AGAINST, you are about to be liberated from lockdown.  Today, the band – Tim McIlrath/vocals, guitar, Joe Principe/bass, Brandon Barnes/drums, and Zach Blair/guitars – announces the “Nowhere Generation Tour,” 17 live-and-in-person concerts taking place coast-to-coast, primarily in open-air amphitheaters.

Produced by Live Nation, the tour kicks off on Friday, July 30 in New York at Rooftop at Pier 17, making stops in Atlanta, Dallas, Philadelphia, Southern California, and more, before wrapping on Tuesday, August 24 in Salt Lake City at The Complex Outdoor.

The general ticket on-sale starts this Thursday, May 13 at 10AM, and purchases can be made at  RiseAgainst.com.  A special Rise Against presale will be available beginning Tuesday, May 11 at 10AM local time.”

“A year without live music in a time when we needed it most has been trying for all of us,” said Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath. “Live music has been missing from all of our lives for far too long.  We can’t wait to fix that on the ‘Nowhere Generation Tour.’  It’s been a long year, and we have a lot to say about it…”

Rise Against’s “Nowhere Generation Tour” is in support of the band’s ninth album, Nowhere Generation, the band’s first new studio effort in four years, due out on June 4 (Loma Vista Records).  The album’s first single, the title track, is already Top 15 at Rock Radio, and has accumulated more than four-million global streams.  Nowhere Generation was recorded at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado, under the tutelage of Jason Livermore, Andrew Berlin, Chris Beeble, and long-time producer/engineer Bill Stevenson (Black Flag, The Descendents).  The album fearlessly illustrates why Rise Against is one of music’s most resolute, politically, and socially conscious punk rock bands.  In a nutshell, the new album is blistering, defiant punk rock, with outspoken lyrics that shine a light on today’s political and economic instability, the exponential escalation of citizen disenfranchisement, the blatant sell-out of the Middle Class, and the inequitable achievement of The American Dream.
