You always had a way to make us all laugh. You always made everything better. And when you put this lettuce cup on your head to make us laugh because our food was taking forever, you made everything better once again. Is anyone else hoping for a ton of Crash impressions? I know I am. I’m hoping this time we can get him to do one of Crabby Uncle Aaron singing about how he thinks he’s better than Bruce Springsteen. Just the fact that he called him out in his fake patriotism country song still shocks me a little. Gross. Country music can keep him. I know that’s not fair to country fans, but we have to deal with Machine Gun Kelly now so we have our hands full.

Returning with their 11th studio album, the dynamic and explorative California-based rock band Thrice announce Horizons/East, out September 17 via Epitaph Records on streaming platforms. The album exemplifies art as a work of recognition — the human task of perceiving oneself amid details, disasters, and blessings as a relentlessly relational phenomenon among others. In this, Horizons/East is the rare rock album on which interrelatedness is a theme, painting an adventurous and lush landscape mixed by Scott Evans that the band self-produced and recorded at their own New Grass Studio.
The powerful new single, “Scavengers” is out today here. Over a dark and intricate braiding of guitar and drum grooves, the lyrics challenge us to discern the issues and information that bonds us versus what disintegrates and destroys. For vocalist Dustin Kensrue, the song is – but also kind of isn’t – a thing of the past. Whether lost in a media diet that is essentially a disinformation pipeline or, relatedly, trapped in fear of a future of eternal conscious pain, Kensrue speaks of “toxic worldviews I once inhabited,” and in truth, “a lot of people that I love are still in that place.”
To emerge from a global pandemic with a renewed sense of situational awareness, hard won insight, and a new album is the kind of move we’ve come to expect from Thrice over the last twenty years. With Horizons/East, Kensrue and his bandmates address, with candor and courage, the fragile and awkward arrangements that pass for civilization, while inviting us to dwell more knowingly within our own lives. Without surrendering any of the energy and hard edge of their previous albums, they’ve given us a profoundly meditative work, which serves as a musical summons to everyday attentiveness.
Some of the writing even began with open-ended challenges that the band laid on themselves like building a song using the quartal chords they found in much of the jazz they loved, or taking the Fibonacci sequence and turning it into a guitar riff.
Thrice seems ever eager to step out into these spaces unknown to them, unsure of where their feet will land, and this new record is no exception. Horizons/East is a soundtrack for deeper dreaming.
Horizons/East is available to preorder now at https://thrice.ffm.to/horizonseast. All physical copies of Horizons/East will be available on October 8th.
Horizons/East Tracklist: 1. The Color Of The Sky 2. Scavengers 3. Buried In The Sun 4. Northern Lights 5. Summer Set Fire To The Rain 6. Still Life 7. The Dreamer 8. Robot Soft Exorcism 9. Dandelion Wine 10. Unitive/East
Horizons/East conveys a palpable sense of danger, determination, and possibility.
Formed in 1998, the Orange County-based four-piece is widely regarded as one of the most innovative rock bands of their generation. Featuring frontman Dustin Kensrue, guitarist Teppei Teranishi, bassist Eddie Breckenridge, and drummer Riley Breckenridge.

After several years of fans’ posts asking, “why isn’t this on Spotify?”, “where can I buy this?”, “please release this song!”, today the multi Gold and Platinum-selling Sabaton heeds the call and announces the long-awaited audio release of its cover of Manowar’s “Kingdom Come.” The track, paired with Sabaton’s “Metal Trilogy,” a medley of the band’s “Metal Ripper,” “Metal Crue,” and “Metal Machine,” is now available digitally on all streaming platforms, and the song can be heard here.
Also today, Sabaton debuts a stunning 3D motion graphics animated lyric video for “Kingdom Come” which can be viewed here:
Last week, Sabaton announced on its socials a pre-order for a limited edition, Black/Red Spot 12″ vinyl disc that included “Kingdom Come” and the three-song medley “Metal Trilogy,” set for an August 27 release date – copies sold out immediately.
The Sabaton cover of Manowar’s “Kingdom Come” was originally released in 2016 as a track on Decades of Destruction, Metal Hammer’s special compilation covers CD that accompanied the magazine’s 30th-anniversary edition. A few months later, Sabaton and the Czech Republic video game developer, Warhorse Studios, collaborated on a music video for the track, incorporating scenes from the actual game to produce a story-driven, epic adventure – “Kingdom Come: Deliverance.” But, until today, the song has never been available as a stand-alone audio single.
Pär Sundtröm, co-founder of Sabaton and its bass player, states, “Our fans have spoken. YOU requested the release of this song everywhere, so this is for all of you. This recording was meant to be a tribute to Manowar and a collaboration with a video game bearing the same name when we recorded it a few years ago. We are happy to see that you appreciate the song so much, and we have paid attention to your wishes and requests. You asked for it, you got it.”
A week ago, on July 9, Sabaton played its first concert in more than a year, headlining the Exit Festival in Serbia. Winner of multiple “Best European Major Festival” awards, 2021’s Exit Festival was Europe’s first major music festival since COVID hit in early 2020, and Sabaton performed in front of more than 40,000 fans from some 70 countries. On September 8 in Reading, PA, Sabaton will launch its first North American tour since Fall 2019 as main support on Judas Priest’s 37-city, “50 Years of Metal” North American tour. Sabaton is also confirmed to perform at Virginia’s Blue Ridge Rock Festival and at Louder Than Life in Louisville. Dutch powerhouse Within Temptation have released the official music video for their brand new single “Shed My Skin.”
The music video is released one day before the band’s online show The Aftermath — A Show In A Virtual Reality — taking place on July 15 and 16.
The Aftermath is an online show fueled by bleeding-edge technology, enabling the band to do a performance that’s out of this world — literally. The show will take place in four different worlds, in which the band and audience are witness of the aftermath of destruction of mankind. The music video for “Shed My Skin” (feat. Annisokay) previews this highly anticipated online show, which promises to be an audiovisual spectacle with guest singers from all over the world joining the band for striking duets in even more striking settings.
For this song, Within Temptation teamed up with German metalcore band Annisokay. This collaboration has resulted in an absolutely bombastic metal anthem. Singer Sharon den Adel says, “‘Shed My Skin’ revolves around dealing with inevitable changes in life. It is about becoming the person we are meant to be, even if that means losing people we love, but have grown apart from. Real growth begins where comfort zones end and that’s exactly what the song is all about: If we don’t change, we don’t grow. If we don’t grow, we aren’t really living.”
Napalm Records and ANDREW W.K. recently announced the impending release of the iconic Party God’s fifth full-length studio rock album, God Is Partying. The long-awaited nine track opus of maximalist grandeur is set for release on September 10, 2021 – nearly 20 years after the release of his chart-topping full-length debut, I Get Wet.
Today, following the respective unveilings of his two bombastic new singles Babalon” and “I’m In Heaven”, the one and only party-rock icon is back with another rager, this time in the form of the triumphant and metallic, “Everybody Sins”. The hard charging track soars as a certified future hit with its divine harmonic attack juxtaposed with monster guitar riffs and undeniable vocal melodies.
ANDREW W.K. says: ”When we started working on the video for ‘Everybody Sins’, the director and I were scheming and straining over some of the choreography and camera moves. Now, I do realize some people will say life’s too short to scheme and strain like this. And others will say life’s too short NOT to scheme and strain. Still, other people will say both these approaches are incorrect. And what do I say? Everything I just said in the video for ‘Everybody Sins’.”
Hovering in the fluorescent spotlight of his legendary party power, God Is Partying sees ANDREW W.K. ransack the corners of the human psyche, reaching a triumphant apex in his catalog. Emotive yet steadfast, ominous yet invigorating, God Is Partying embraces both the break-ups and break-downs of life, and ANDREW W.K. once again provides his audience with the perfect soundtrack to celebrate life in all its perplexing and euphoric intensity.
Showcasing his indisputable musicality, God Is Partying features ANDREW W.K. performing all of the album’s instruments, in addition to co-producing the album with his long-time recording partner, Grammy Award-winning engineer, Ted Young.
Channeling the manic euphoria that has compelled ANDREW W.K.’s auditory insignia for decades, God Is Partying is soaked with a flood of epic energy – often traversing seemingly impenetrable lyrical themes while remaining refreshingly relatable, inspiring, and vital for survival. From sinister metallic bastions like the buzzing single “Babalon”, to the timeless story telling of “Remember Your Oath”, the album will have fans embracing their own party power and reveling in the depths of musical euphoria. God Is Partying opens triumphantly with ANDREW W.K.’s hyper-melodic keyboard stylings introducing the menacing and magical music of “Everybody Sins”, perfectly setting the scene for the dramatic immensity to follow. Tracks like the poetic, “No One To Know”, and the soaring tension of “Stay True To Your Heart”, transport the listener to the precipice of a paradoxically infinite sonic horizon – rising into synthesizer-infused epics of mega-jumbo rock music, each track showcasing another example of ANDREW W.K.’s expanding abilities as a vocalist and songwriter. Only halfway through the album is the listener driven directly into fiery depths with the massive track, “I’m In Heaven”, before ascending back up and into the sonic stratosphere with the tracks “My Tower” and the album’s gargantuan closer, “And Then We Blew Apart”. God Is Partying is a true ode to the quiddity of ANDREW W.K..
God Is Partying tracklisting:* 1) Everybody Sins 2) Babalon 3) No One To Know 4) Stay True To Your Heart 5) Goddess Partying 6) I’m In Heaven 7) Remember Your Oath 8) My Tower 9) And Then We Blew Apart
*Various formats will include additional bonus tracks “I Made It” and “Not Anymore”.
God Is Partying will be available in North America in the following formats: -1CD Jewelcase -1LP Gatefold White + Poster -1LP Gatefold Turquoise Transparent + Poster -1LP Gatefold Marbled Transparent / Dark Green + Poster (Napalm Worldwide Mailorder only – limited to 800) – 1LP Gatefold Marbled Red Transparent / Black + Poster (ANDREW W.K. store only) -Digital Album

In just over a month, the must-see Metal Tour Of The Year co-headlined by MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD will lay waste to cities across North America as the highly anticipated trek finally hits the road. Joining them as previously planned will be special guests TRIVIUM, however it has been announced today that due to international visa issues, special guests IN FLAMES will not be able to join the tour. Fans should not fear, joining the tour in their place will be none other than HATEBREED. Tickets and VIP packages for this most epic metal extravaganza are on-sale now from LiveNation.com. MEGADETH, fueled by Dave Mustaine’s triumphant return to the stage following his diagnosis and recovery of throat cancer, will finally embark on their first North American tour since 2017. Speaking on the long-awaited announcement of the rescheduled run, MEGADETH’s leader and frontman, Dave Mustaine says “Can you hear that sound of armies on the march – of destruction on the horizon? That’s this tour, coming for you. We cannot wait to return to the stage and I promise you you do NOT want to miss these shows. You’re not going to know what hit you!”
LAMB OF GOD pressed ahead with the release of their crushing self-titled album, Lamb of God, which was one of the best-selling metal albums of 2020. The band now looks to take the show on the road as they return to the stage for the first time since the release of the record. Randy Blythe, inimitable frontman of LAMB OF GOD, adds
“It’s been far too long since we got together to do our thing— by ‘we’ I mean bands, road crew, bus drivers, truck drivers, local venue staff, vendors, audience, parking lot attendants, the freaking janitors- the whole damn enchilada. ALL OF US. TOGETHER. Everyone has been waiting, but the time has come to put the puzzle back together— I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been more ready to hit the road with lamb of god. See y’all in a few months with Megadeth, Trivium, & now Hatebreed. Over a year with no live music? These shows are gonna be INSANE…” Produced by Live Nation, the epic, rescheduled tour will now kick off on Friday, August 20th in Austin, TX and hit a further 27 cities before wrapping in Quebec City, QC on Saturday, October 2nd . Papa Roach just dropped a new video for “Broken As Me(featuring Danny Worsnop from Asking Alexandria)” via Better Noise Music. The video is being released in support of Chicago’s JBTV, as the legendary studio seeks to find a new studio location and get back on its feet after the pandemic devastated music venues across the world.
Papa Roach is included in a long list of bands – others of which include BTS, Twenty One Pilots, Arctic Monkeys, Fall Out Boy, Portugal The Man – for whom JBTV provided early career support. When Papa Roach heard about the studio’s situation, they wanted to do their part to help shine a light on the city of Chicago and also thank JBTV for their help in promoting global talent over the last 30 years. They’re doing so by sharing this footage from this 2015 performance at the JBTV studios.
In a statement JBTV’s President, Michael Harnett, said, “We at JBTV like many other music venues and promoters during the pandemic have seen our businesses disappear. The thing that has kept us all going is the support of our fans and the artists we have worked with. Papa Roach along with their record company and management team are at the top of the list of these artists and we are humbled by their support in reaching out to us to assist in raising funds to rebuild our studio and soundstage where over 700 bands/artists have performed. We thank everyone who has supported us and these great artists. If you can help us in rebuilding we would be extremely grateful if you cannot then please enjoy BROKEN AS ME and go see a show! ”

CHVRCHES have shared their new single “Good Girls”, taken from their forthcoming fourth studio album Screen Violence, set for release on August 27th via Glassnote Records.
“Good Girls” was the second song the band wrote for the new album, setting the lyrical tone for Screen Violence. Frontwoman Lauren Mayberry’s powerful vocal delivers the unapologetic and vital lyrics on the misogynistic ideals inflicted upon women with urgency: “Good girls don’t cry / And good girls don’t lie / And good girls justify but I don’t / Good girls don’t die / And good girls stay alive / And good girls satisfy but I won’t”.
Discussing the single, Lauren says: “The opening line (killing your idols is a chore) was something I wrote after listening to some friends arguing about the present day implications of loving certain problematic male artists – I was struck by the lengths that people would go to in order to excuse their heroes and how that was so juxtaposed to my own experiences in the world. Women have to constantly justify their right to exist and negotiate for their own space. We’re told that Bad Things don’t happen to Good Girls. That if you curate yourself to fit the ideal – keep yourself small and safe and acceptable – you will be alright, and it’s just not fucking true.”
“Good Girls” follows on from previous single “How Not To Drown” featuring one of the band’s musical heroes, The Cure frontman Robert Smith, released in June alongside the announcement of Screen Violence and premiered via Zane Lowe who interviewed the band for their first ever interview with Smith. The accompanying official video featured both CHVRCHES and Robert Smith, with its claustrophobic, film-noir imagery a continuation of the aesthetic presented with the album’s debut single “He Said She Said”. Following its release, Robert Smith also remixed the single, telling The FADER he wanted his version of the single to “conjure up an irresistible midnight sea with dark mesmeric currents”.
Eager to get back out on the road where the band and their impressive stage production can truly connect with their fans, CHVRCHES will embark on an extensive North American tour beginning this November. Tickets are on sale now, visit www.chvrch.es for more information.

Screen Violence was originally conceived as a name for the band. A decade later, and during a pandemic when the reality of screen violence has never been more pertinent, struggling to make the people you love feel more than the characters on a TV show, and experiencing a world of trauma as if it were another, CHVRCHES revived the term for their forthcoming album title. Narrating the theme of screen violence in three main forms – on screen, by screens and through screens – the album touches on feelings of loneliness, disillusionment, fear, heartbreak and regret.
Screen Violence was recorded almost entirely remotely between Los Angeles and Glasgow where members Lauren Mayberry, Martin Doherty and Iain Cook self-produced and mixed the album via video calls and audio sharing programs to create something that is unique and special, but inherently CHVRCHES.
The making of Screen Violence also marked a decade together for the band – a decade whose sound they have helped to create and define from their 2013 breakthrough The Bones of What You Believe and 2015’s Every Open Eye, to their most recent 2018’s Love is Dead.
