Papa Roach, the iconic California rock band, is kicking open the door to a new chapter of their career with the release of “Swerve”, a high-octane, swagger-packed thrill ride featuring the outspoken frontman of Fever 333, Jason Aalon Butler, and rising LA-based rapper Sueco. The track premiered last night on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show with Daniel P. Carter and is available today for streaming here.
“This track came at the very end of the writing process for our upcoming album and truly feels like the culmination of years of experimenting with our sound coming back to a new version of Papa Roach,” shares the band’s undeniable frontman Jacoby Shaddix. “We’re kicking off this new chapter of our careers with a next-level track and couldn’t imagine doing it with anyone other than Jason and Sueco.”
The genre-bending banger was produced by Colin “Doc” Brittain and Nick Furlong (All Time Low, A Day To Remember, Avicii) and features the saxophone stylings of co-collaborator Spencer Nezey, showcasing Papa Roach’s bravado at an all-time high.
“This is one of the favorite songs I’ve ever made,” Sueco shares on the collab. “Papa Roach has been an inspiration of mine since I was a kid, so working with them was super dope and a dream come true!”
Butler adds “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- this band has somehow managed to be a legacy AND relevant all at once. So, naturally, when I got the call to hop on this track there was no question. With Sueco doing his thing the track’s got 3 different vibes that all work together. This shit is different and that’s exactly what rock needs. More DIFFERENT Sh*t. Thanks to these modern legends for making sure it happened.”
Along with today’s song release, Papa Roach have also announced that they have entered into a new global distribution and marketing services agreement with ADA Worldwide (WMG’s independent label and artist services arm). Of the partnership, Cat Kreidich, ADA Worldwide President, shares, “We couldn’t be more elated to have Papa Roach in the ADA family. With our talented teams and strong relationships across various territories, we look forward to activating an even wider global audience, as we support them in this new musical chapter.” In addition, Papa Roach have also reactivated their own label, “New Noize Records,” a second incarnation of their early 2000’s label enterprise.
Employed To Serve have released “Mark of the Grave,” the second single from their forthcoming album Conquering. Listen here.
“This song is about people who’d rather put other people down, instead of getting on with their own lives,” says frontwoman Justine Jones. “When writing this song, we wanted to try our hand at writing a positive metal anthem for people to blast when they’re having a shitty day. Hope you all enjoy it as much as we had fun recording and writing it! Stay kind!”
Conquering releases on September 17 and is Employed To Serve’s second full-length album on Spinefarm.
Drawing influence from the music of their youth and a new perspective on how to nurture the positive aspects of humanity and individual growth, Conquering is a celebration and acknowledgement of triumph in the face of a world that can be relentlessly adversarial. The band began recording the album in the”“unforgiving winter” of 2020; produced and mixed by Lewis Johns at The Ranch, Southampton, mastered by Grant Berry at Fader Mastering, Employed To Serve took the time thrown at them by a world stopped still to write their most visceral material to date.
Pre-orders are live, with an instant download of singles, “Exist” and “Mark Of The Grave,” plus special bundle options including t-shirts, hoodies, shorts, pink socks, skateboards and limited colour variant vinyl.
CONQUERING TRACK LISTING: “Universal Chokehold” “Exist“ “Twist The Blade” “Sun Up To Sun Down” “The Mistake” “We Don’t Need You” “Set In Stone” “Mark Of The Grave” “World Ender” “Conquering” “Stand Alone”
Southern California quartet JOYOUS WOLF, who have received critical acclaim from The Los Angles Times and American Songwriter, have created their own hybrid of hard driving rock ‘n’ roll, soul, blues, and alternative music. As such, they have steadily built their reputation as one of the brightest up ‘n’ comers in the burgeoning scene. Mixing majestic riffs with soulful vocals, undeniable swagger, and the kind of hair-on-fire live performances that leave fans trying to catch their breath for days after the fact, Joyous Wolf are ready to take the leap into the rock ‘n’ roll stratosphere with their latest sonic transmission.
Today, the band has dropped the video for the new song “Fearless.” Watch and listen here.
“‘Fearless’ was a bit of a wild card,” frontman Nick Reese shares about the song. “We completed it in the final days of our album sessions and it was the only song we hadn’t completed prior. It became one of those songs that fell together in an effortless way. I’ve found myself reflecting on how unafraid I was as a kid. I feel like that’s something more than a few people can relate to. For the most part, I like to believe we are born fearless and we are conditioned to be afraid.”
“Fearless” is just a glorious taste of what’s to come for Joyous Wolf. The band continues to work on its debut full-length. Stay tuned for more from Joyous Wolf.
More than 30 years after its release, OZZY OSBOURNE’s sixth solo album–the Top 10 (#7) and quadruple platinum NO MORE TEARS will be celebrated with an expanded digital audio album due out September 17 (Sony). Two special editions–a 2LP black vinyl version and a special yellow and red 2LP vinyl version with a specially created booklet (exclusively at www.towerrecords.com)–will be released simultaneously. Pre-order the album here.
In its release, NO MORE TEARS yielded four top ten singles on the Billboard Rock Tracks chart, “Mama, I’m Coming Home” (#2), “Road To Nowhere” (#3), “Time After Time” (#6) and the title track (#10). In addition, the album’s “I Don’t Want to Change the World” earned OZZY his first Grammy for a live version of the track that was featured on his 1993 LIVE AND LOUD album. The Grammy-winning track was one of the album’s four songs co-written with OZZY’s longtime friend and colleague Lemmy Kilmister; the others include “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” “Desire,” and “Hellraiser.” The album has remained an OZZY classic, earning a spot (#22) on Loudwire’s “Top 90 Hard Rock + Metal Albums of the ’90s” with Ultimate Classic Rock including No More Tears on their list “Top 100 ’90s Rock Albums.”
“I have a lot of great memories of making the album,” OZZY says. “We worked hard on the record with John Purdell and Duane Baron, who became extra two members of the band. Before we went into the studio, we discussed what we were going to do–everything was planned. It’s so nice when you get a producer who’s more like a part of the band than them saying, ’nah, you do it this way.’ Because we write them and when you write the songs, you have a mental picture of how you think you want it to sound. Sometimes you’re surprised for the better, but other times you’re disappointed, but John and Duane did an extraordinary job on the album. It was really, really well done. Every song was worked on for a long time and we spent extra time trying to get things right. But there was also lots of goofing around and we had a good time making it. And Zakk’s playing on it is spectacular.”
Zakk Wylde adds, “On the first record, ‘It was like I can’t believe I’m here. I had definitely crawled into the fire and kept thinking. ‘You gotta produce. You got to come up with some cool stuff.’ On NO MORE TEARS, I guess I was more relaxed. With OZZY, whenever we’re playing riffs, he would be like ‘keep playing that riff.’ Pretty much every time he just gets up there and starts singing what comes to him naturally, he knocks it out of the park all the time. I mean, there’s very, very few times where he’s actually said, ‘No, let me come back to that. I don’t like what I’m singing. I’ll come up with something better.’ Whatever you’re hearing on the record is pretty much first thing he started singing that naturally came out of him, that he started hearing in his head. Which is amazing. My love for him and admiration for him has just gotten even stronger and bigger over the years. It’s bigger than the music. It’s always a good time whenever we’re together, it’s always like it’s a laugh fest, and then making the records is beyond hilarious as well.”
“Mama, I’m Coming Home,” the album’s biggest hit which OZZY co-wrote with Kilmister, started with Zakk at a piano, has gone on to become not only a rock anthem, but a classic song among soldiers.
“At that time, a lot of people were going to Iraq war,” OZZY notes. “We heard that the GIs were sending that song to their wives. Soldiers still love that song.”
“I remember when we were working on the album, I originally wrote ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’ on a piano,” Zakk says. “I had the music, and then when we got to the studio, I transposed it to the 12-string guitar. I was like ‘oh let me try it on the 12-string and see what it sounds like.’ That’s how it evolved into the song, originally it was just me and Ozz noodling on the piano.”

A look at several albums that dropped in July 2021, all voted on by Patrons. This video takes a look at American Noir by Creeper, Call Of The Wild by Powerwolf, 9th & Walnut by Descendents, and Angel Or Alien by Born Of Osiris.
The announcement of the brand new JINJER record, Wallflowers, out August 27 via Napalm Records, has not only caused immediate ripples around the world and delighted international reviewers and fans alike, but the band’s first single, “Vortex”, has already gained 2.5 million cross-platform streams/views in no time.
Continuing their unstoppable way to the top, the band has just released their head-splitting second single “Mediator” and a brand-new crushing music video. The second track cut from the new album demonstrates once again that their unique sonic vision combined with visual attitude is more than peerless. Frenetic drumming combined with technically adept, fast firing bass and guitar attacks, merging with the unmatched mix of Tatiana Shmayluk’s clear vocals, pungent rap-like passages and ferocious growling. The track’s high-quality audiovisual bombardment draws the viewer into the spell of the progressive spectacle and constructs the visual antithesis of the postmodern utopia thematized within the track.
JINJER on the tone of the new single: “With years getting older, we often realize that the world around us is far from what we expected it to be. Through the eyes of a kid everything seemed way more colorful, better and optimistic, didn’t it? When did it all turn wrong? When did it all turn so gray? Is this really the world’s fault? Or it is only about us chasing the wrong goals… the wrong careers, ambitions and achievements, rather than embracing one important truth… Rephrasing John Lennon, if one chases something else other than happiness, then they didn’t understand life at all …”
Already regarded as one of the most anticipated metal albums of the year, with Wallflowers, JINJER once again prove their exceptional knack for mixing groove, prog, alternative and experimental influences to create a sound unlike anything that has ever come before it.
Eugene Abdukhanov on the new album: “Growing creatively has always been a major goal for us. The day JINJER stops reaching for new musical horizons will be our last day as a band. We could have churned out what our peers expected us to do, or produce ‘Pisces’ clones without end, but we’ve never done that and we never will. Instead, we wrote an album whose level of emotions range from the fiercest aggression we’ve ever had, to the most intricate melodies and melancholic vibes you could ever get from our music. We decided to rip apart all possible stylistic boundaries without regard to financial success or competing with our previous albums. Wallflowers is a different kind of album musically and visually. It’s about our identity as a band, as individuals and a clear statement that we are different from most artists… and that it is OK to do your own thing.”
Wallflowers not only presents a methodical and premeditated next step in the band’s already imposing career, but moreover, it mirrors the personal adversities they’ve faced due to the worldwide events of the last year. Wallflowers is not only an upgrade to the progressive groove metal sound that all JINJER fans crave, but also a sonic pressure cooker of technical musicianship, emotional fury and an intense soundtrack befitting the harrowing state of the world today. Hailing from the conflict-ridden Ukrainian region of Donetsk but now calling Kiev their home base, JINJER truly do not mince words – or riffs – on Wallflowers. Their exceptional precision of modern metal paired with tough as nails attitude has earned them a fiercely loyal, rabid fanbase and massive critical acclaim, making JINJER one of the most talked about bands today and garnering them many sold out performances across the globe. With nearly all of JINJER’s releases composed between vans, backstage rooms and constant touring, Wallflowers continues where its predecessor Macro left off, only this time with less distraction and more time to focus on songwriting.
Wallflowers will be available in the following formats via Napalm Records: – Deluxe Box (Hand-Numbered Box, Limited Shirt (different sizes available), 7″ Black incl. 2 Bonus Tracks, CD Digipak (Sleeve)) – Limited to 1000 Copies (Napalm Mailorder ONLY) – Righteous Green, Black and White Vinyl (7″ White incl. 2 Bonus Tracks, Signed Picture Offsetpaper 12″ Booklet, Hand-Numbered Gatefold, Alternative Artwork) – Limited to 400 Copies (Napalm Mailorder ONLY) – SOLD OUT – Colossal Golden Vinyl – Limited to 500 Copies (Napalm NorAm ONLY) – SOLD OUT – Deep Black Vinyl – MC (White) – Limited to 100 Copies (Napalm Mail order ONLY) – SOLD OUT – MC (Smokey Clear) – Limited to 150 Copies (Napalm Mail order ONLY) – NEW – 1 CD Digipak – digital album

Two-time GRAMMY-nominated and millions-selling progressive music titans Dream Theater announce the forthcoming worldwide release of their 15th studio album, A View From The Top Of The World on October 22nd. A View From The Top OF The World is Dream Theater at its musical finest expanding on the sound they helped create while maintaining the elements that have garnered them devoted fans around the globe. The 7-song album also marks the second studio album with InsideOutMusic / Sony Music. The artwork was created by long-time cover collaborator Hugh Syme (Rush, Iron Maiden, Stone Sour). A View From The Top Of The World was produced by John Petrucci, engineered and additional production by James “Jimmy T” Meslin and mixed/mastered by Andy Sneap.
Dream Theater – comprised of James LaBrie, John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, John Myung and Mike Mangini – was in the middleof a sold-out world tour in support of their last release Distance Over Time and the 20th anniversary of Scenes From A Memory whena Global Pandemic brought the world to a stop. The musicians found themselves at home with LaBrie in Canada and the rest of the group in the States. As fate would have it, they’d just finished construction on DTHQ (Dream Theater Headquarters) —a combination live recording studio, rehearsal space, control room, equipment storage, and creative hive. With LaBrie in Canada, he initially wrote with the band via ZOOM on a monitor in DTHQ. In March 2021, he flew down to New York, quarantined, and recorded his vocals face-to-face with Petrucci. The album ultimately threaded together lean and uncompromising hooks with tried-and-true technical proficiency.
“We just love to play our instruments,” observes Petrucci. “That never goes away. I love to be creative, write, and exercise that part of my mind. We’ve been able to do this for a long time, and we don’t take it for granted. Whenever we get together, we know we can’t disappoint ourselves or our fans, so we manage to try even harder.”
“We approach every album like it’s our first,” adds LaBrie. “It’s been such a great ride, but we’re not going to stop.”
The track listing for A View From The Top Of The World is: 1) The Alien (9:32) 2) Answering The Call (7:35) 3) Invisible Monster (6:31) 4) Sleeping Giant (10:05) 5) Transcending Time (6:25) 6) Awaken The Master (9:47) 7) A View From The Top Of The World (20:24)
Dream Theater is also planning to hit the road in support of the new album. The Top Of The World Tour of North America kicks off on October 28th in Mesa, AZ and runs through December 14th where it concludes in St. Petersburg, FL. The tour will make stops in Seattle, WA; Chicago, IL; Washington, DC; New York, NY and Orlando, FL among others. Information on tickets for all upcoming shows as well as VIP packages can be found at www.dreamtheater.net.
Following on from the publication of frontman Rou Reynolds’ A Treatise On Possibility by Faber on July 16th and ahead of the release of the Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible 2xLP / 2xCD deluxe editions (now moved to August 27th due to Brexit / Covid-related pressing delays), ENTER SHIKARI have released the first in a mini-series of four short documentaries exploring some of the themes of the book and how they relate to tracks from the album.
One part album-making-of, one part anthropological study, “A Film On Possibility” features input from expert guests such as George Monbiot, Dacher Keltner and Toby Ord, as well as the band themselves, on a variety of subjects such as climate catastrophe, the dangers of social media, and existential peril (suffice to say, this is not your standard “how we got that guitar sound” behind-the-scenes video).
Episode One is available now with remaining three episodes released at 1PM ET/10Am PT tomorrow (Wed 28th), Thurs 29th and Friday 30th. The final episode will be followed at 2PM ET / 11am PT by a live online Q+A with Rou Reynolds, available to those who have preordered the book or album from Rough Trade Records.
Rou Reynolds had this to say:
“There’s a 1 in 6 chance that humanity makes it through this century. In a world of TikToks, Tweets, and vox pops, we lose depth, detail, and broader perspectives.
We get lost in the 24 hour news cycle, advertising, and online debate. This is us delving headfirst into a whole range of dizzying, yet critical, topics. Knowledge is power.”
As previously reported, Enter Shikari has announced North American touring plans for their their latest stunner of an album Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible.
Kicking off in Dallas, TX on March 25, 2022 and hitting Orlando, Boston, DC, NYC, Denver, Vancouver, and concluding at Pomona, CA’s The Glass House on April 23rd (full dates below), Enter Shikari’s triumphant return marks their first shows Stateside since 2019’s sold out Stop the Clocks Tour and since headlining Saturday night at UK’s massive Download Festival Pilot last month. Tickets available here. Wargasm will support. For UK dates, visit here.
Formed by a group of UK based artists and music industry professionals in London in 2019, Music Declares Emergency works with over 5000 declarers from all sectors and areas of the global music industry, placing music at the heart of conversation and action in relation to the climate emergency.
