Undeath Announce ‘It’s Time… To Rise From The Grave’

Undeath has announced details of their sophomore album, It’s Time… To Rise From The Grave. The first track to be released from the album, “Rise From The Grave” – which was premiered earlier this week via SiriusXM Liquid Metal – is streaming everywhere now and the accompanying video will premiere at THIS LOCATION at 7AM PST//10AM EST//4PM CET. It’s Time… To Rise From The Grave will be released via Prosthetic Records on April 22nd, 2022. Pre-orders are available now.

The suitably disgusting video was produced by Errick Easterday and provides the visual accompaniment to the blistering first single, “Rise From The Grave”. Of the track guitarist Kyle Beam comments: “‘Rise from the Grave’ is Undeath refined to its deadliest aspects. Blood curdling vocals, bonesaw guitars, slamming bass, and skull crushing drums, fused with a focused hook that brings the decayed mass together as a banging death metal track. We hope you all enjoy, bang your head and scream along.”

Vocalist Alexander Jones adds: “We knew we wanted to go kind of over-the-top with this video but still have it feel like something you might catch on Headbanger’s Ball in the ’90s. Think ‘Sentenced to Burn’ or ‘Rapture’. Luckily enough we met Errick while we were recording the album and when it came time to start plotting out the video, we knew he was the guy for the job. I think the end result is a great little encapsulation of what our band is all about – big riffs and plenty of gore.”

It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave, shows the reconfigured quintet – Kyle Beam (guitars), Alexander Jones (vocals), Tommy Wall (bass), Jared Welch (guitars) and Matt Browning (drums) – have retained their mind-infecting sonic savagery but weren’t satisfied in their pursuit to improve it through wicked (yet studied) reformulation. It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave isn’t just an early contender for death metal album of 2022 – it’s destined to be a modern-day classic.

Musically, It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave was predominantly written by Beam, with bassist Tommy Wall contributing “Bone Wrought”. Guitarists Beam and Welch waste no time in establishing the knife’s edge, while drummer Browning and bassist Wall hammer-smash faces with brutal proficiency. Beam’s carnage-prone lyrics – as ferociously vociferated by front-man Jones – and Matt Browning’s gruesome cover art provide a profane platform from which Undeath launch. Every short-timed burst of song – they average three and a half minutes – from It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave is a tried and true deathly delight.

Undeath traveled to Philadelphia to record It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave with Scoops Dardaris at Headroom Studios in March-April 2021. Dardaris rough-mixed on the fly during the recording sessions, and then required two more weeks after to finalize the mix. Not ones to sacrifice a working team, they brought on Arthur Rizk (Creeping Death, Enforced) to master.

In four years, Undeath have done the unlikely. They have two celebrated, oft-streamed demos, a coveted Decibel flexi disc, two brutish videos (“Acidic Twilight Visions”, “Entranced by the Pendulum”), completed a riotous 30-date American tour mid-pandemic with The Black Dahlia Murder, and released a fan-obsessed full-length in Lesions of a Different Kind. To stop now would be contrary to Undeath‘s diehard, work-hardened ethos. Indeed, they’re forging ahead. It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave undoubtedly levels up Undeath. The New Yorkers are the vanguard of the next wave of hard-hearted American death metal. Join the undead army now…march or die completely!

Attention all elder emos! The When We Were Young Festival will be the epicenter of our collective youth and will be taking place on October 22nd, 2022. The festival will take place at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds in Las Vegas, Nevada. It will have the most impressive lineup since Bamboozle, Taste of Chaos, and most Warped Tours (after 2017) combined.

For starters My Chemical Romance and Paramore will be headlining. The supporting acts throughout the rest of the festival are just as impressive and quite honestly make my heart flutter just as much if not more. The official lineup will also include performances by: AFI, The Used, Bring Me The Horizon, Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Thursday, Alkaline Trio, Manchester Orchestra,Dance Gavin Dance, The All American Rejects, Boys Like Girls, A Day To Remember, Pierce The Veil, The Story So Far, I Prevail, Car Seat Headrest, Sleeping With Sirens, Knocked Loose, Jxdn, Avril Lavigne, Motionless In White, Black Veil Brides, Ice Nine Kills, Senses Fail, Bayside, Mom Jeans, Mayday Parade, The Maine, Neck Deep, Silverstein, Palaye Royale, Bright Eyes, Poppy, Nessa Barrett, Wolf Alice, Acceptance, Story Of The Year, Pvris, Atreyu, Glassjaw, Lilhuddy, TV Girl, The Starting Line, Thursday, Anberlin, We The Kings, The Wonder Years, Hawthorne Heights, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Armor For Sleep, Royal & The Serpent, Jimmy Eat World, State Champs, Four Year Strong, The Ready Set, 3Oh!3, Horrorpops, Kittie, Meet Me @ The Altar, The Linda Lindas, and Prentiss.

To accommodate all of those amazing bands, the festival will be split up into three separate stages. Performances will start at 11 AM and run through 11PM.  The pre-sale will be on Friday January 21st at 10AM PST. For those interested, payment plans will be accepted with a $19.99 deposit. Tickets start at $224.99 with three separate tiers within general admission. All of the tiers will be offering access to all the performances throughout the three stages. There will also be VIP, VIP Cabana and Hotel and Ticket packages available for purchase.

Despite this being the second time the festival is taking place with the first one being five years ago in Orange County, this lineup is sure one for the books. For those who can make it out to Las Vegas, make sure to review the festival policies beforehand. I’m pretty sure you don’t want to get your chain wallet confiscated at the entrance. And stock up on Tylenol because I know most of us have back and knee pain by now.

Placebo Share New Single “Try Better Next Time”

Placebo share “Try Better Next Time” from the band’s forthcoming album, Never Let Me Go (March 25, Rise Records). It follows recently released new tracks “Beautiful James” and “Surrounded by Spies,” the latter of which heralded news of the band’s long-awaited eighth studio album – and first together in almost a decade.

Listen to “Try Better Next Time” here and view the visualizer here. Album pre-orders are available here.

“Try Better Next Time” further opens up what we know about Never Let Me Go’s frank and honest depiction of our modern times. Where opening single “Beautiful James” revealed a stern commentary on the proliferation of ignorant opinions, and follow-up track “Surrounded By Spies” spun themes of tech-saturation, “Try Better Next Time” – the album’s poignant centrepiece – can be easy to mistake as an apocalyptic vision of the future. Instead, we find the band focusing less on endings and more on new beginnings. It’s an anthem for the end of a world that we know – not the end of it completely – and a celebration of the possibility of what might come next, whether humanity has a seat at the table or not.

When Brian Molko considers how we might “grow fins, go back in the water” it is proposed with the greater good in mind. It is the setting aside of ego in the face of eco-disaster, in recognition of all that mankind has done to the planet. The world keeps turning whether under the influence of humanity or not. Commenting, he says: “It is not the end of the world, only the end of humanity, a distinction that in our overblown hubris we are unable to detect. Mother Nature has grown extremely weary of us. Try Better Next Time.”

Entering into the release of Never Let Me Go, Placebo continue to view their subject matter through as wide a lens as possible. Details come into sharp focus but are always considered with a bigger picture in mind. It may at times paint their world as one ravaged by the effects of mounting crises, but it also stands up as a document of how to hold onto one another, and nurture relationships, even when it feels like a losing battle. Never Let Me Go is a place to stare harsh realities in the face, while holding onto the hope of something brighter to come.

Placebo will embark on run of headline UK / IE tour dates in 2022. Tickets are available here.

Slash Ft. Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators Release “Call Off The Dogs”

SLASH FT. MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS have released new song “Call Off The Dogs,” from their upcoming album titled 4, which is due out February 11, 2022, on Gibson Records, in partnership with BMG. The new song follows the first single “The River Is Rising,” the fastest-rising radio debut of SLASH’s career cracking the Top 20 at Rock Radio at #13 this week and climbing. A decade and four albums into their career, the new album 4 marks the first new music from the group in four years. A vibrant rock album fueled by memorable guitar hooks and compelling melodies, big choruses, and even bigger riffs; 4 builds on the legacy of SLASH FT. MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS’ prior work. 4 is SLASH’s fifth solo album, and fourth with SLASH and his bandmates MYLES KENNEDY (Vocals), BRENT FITZ (Drums), TODD KERNS (Bass & Vocals) and FRANK SIDORIS (Guitar & Vocals). Listen to the new songs “Call Off The Dogs” HERE, and “The River Is Rising” HERE, and pre-order the new album 4, HERE.

SLASH describes the new song “Call Off The Dogs,” “This one was written pretty much on the fly, and in the spirit of the energy of the whole album 4. You can’t overthink something like this song because it kills the spirit. When we got into pre-production, ‘Call Off The Dogs’ came together fairly quickly – just jam it and that’s basically it. And it was probably the last thing that we recorded in the studio.

MYLES KENNEDY adds, “’Call Off The Dogs’ has that up-tempo vibe that helps elevate a record in a lot of ways, especially for rock fans. They want those songs. We needed a chorus section for it, so I messed with it a bit and sent it to Slash, and he took it to the next level and made it his own. Lyrically, it’s about that point where you wave the white flag and give in to someone after being pursued relentlessly.”

For 4SLASH and the band traveled across the country via bus together to Nashville, TN, and recorded the new album at the historic RCA Studio A with producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, John Prine, Jason Isbell, Brandi Carlile), revealing a stunning new sound and style, all captured live in the studio. Cobb shared the band’s desire to lay down the tracks live, in the studio including guitar solos and vocals–a first for the group. The band’s previous albums over the last decade Apocalyptic Love, World on Fire, and Living The Dream have continued on an upward trajectory, all achieving Top 5 Billboard charting debuts in the U.S. and reaching the Top 10 on 12 major charts across the globe. To date, the three SMKC albums have now garnered consecutive Top 10 Radio singles, spawned sold-out world tours, and have earned SLASH and the band the best critical acclaim of their career with their latest album Living The Dream (2018) singled out by the Los Angeles Times, Classic Rock, Guitar World, Loudwire, LA Weekly, and more, as their best songs to date.

In light of the 30-year alliance between Gibson and the GRAMMY Award-winningRock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee SLASH, the new SMKC album 4, has the added distinction of being the first-ever album release on Gibson Records, the new label, which is headquartered in the iconic American instrument brand’s hometown of Music City, Nashville, TN. On February 11, 2022, Gibson will commemorate SLASH FT. MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS’ first studio album with Gibson Records, with a limited–edition release of the SLASH Les Paul Standard 4 Album Edition guitar and package. Only 250 Slash Les Paul Standard 4 Album Edition guitars will be available worldwide on www.gibson.com and at select authorized Gibson dealers. The unique guitar package also features the new SMKC album 4 on vinyl, a 4 album guitar pick tin and 4 decal, and a signed SMKC band portrait. The band have already released the singles/videos for Drip‘ and ‘Cloaked‘, which are already on around 500,000 views on Youtube between them. Album pre-order bundles are available here. Watch the video for “Closer here or below.

Speaking on the new single and video, keyboardist and vocalist James Spence said,

“We wanted to show a completely different side to the record by releasing this single. The album is full of lighter, more gentle moments to contrast the darker side to it and none more so than this.”

Vocalist Eva Korman added,

“The narrative side to the video is about the constant cycle of change. For better or worse, we take our past experiences with us into constantly evolving new beginnings.”

ROLO TOMASSI have spent 17 years leading the pack rather than following and ‘Where Myth Becomes Memory‘, sees them lead with more poise and determination than ever before. The new album serves as the final part in an unintended trilogy that began with 2015’s ‘Grievances‘ and continued with 2018’s ‘Time Will Die And Love Will Bury It‘, the most critically acclaimed album of the band’s career to date. Every ROLO TOMASSI album shows signs of growth, but ‘Where Myth Becomes Memory‘ serves as a culmination of a period of creativity that has exalted ROLO TOMASSI to their loftiest status so far as a band, with a singular vision where the most savage, unhinged sonics can co-exist harmoniously with epic cinematic elegance and grace.

Formed in 2005 this quintet’s early material blended hardcore with kitschy synths and nonsensical song structures. However, the group shaved off its more oddball qualities in favor of shoegaze and dream-pop on subsequent releases. This sound is beautifully demonstrated with Dillinger-style freak-outs that transition to lush soundscapes at a moment’s notice. Anchored by the Spence siblings’ complementary singing voices, the group perfectly blur the barrier between tranquility and destruction.

They have worked with US super producer Diplo and performed on Channel 4 TV live with Biffy Clyro (watch that HERE), they have played the SXSW Festival, released an album through IPECAC after catching the ear of Mike Patton and their last album is on around 7 million streams on Spotify alone.

This most recent album from 2018 ‘Time Will Die And love Will Bury It‘ was released to a flurry of praise an acclaim, landing it as the 2nd highest review score for the year on Metacritic (gaining a 92/100). Following previous tours and shows with the likes of Faith No More, Biffy Clyro, Dillinger Escape Plan, Architects, The Bronx and Gojira in 2019 (as main support), the band have established themselves as a live tour-de-force, now a headline prospect not only in their home territory of the UK and the EU, but also Australia, Japan, Russia and the USA.

There is no band on Earth quite like ROLO TOMASSI.

Megadeth & Lamb Of God Announce Metal Tour Of The Year 2022

Following the enormous success of their 2021 co-headline US tour, metal titans MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD have today announced the second US run of their aptly named METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR. Joining them will be special guests TRIVIUM and IN FLAMES. Tickets for the second leg of THE METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR, produced by Live Nation, will go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday, January 14th from MetalTourOfTheYear.com.

THE METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR was originally announced and planned for 2020 but was halted by the pandemic. Fans waited patiently for touring to return and in the summer of 2021 were granted their wish. THE METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR was one of the first national amphitheater tours to hit the road in 2021 and saw co-headliners MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD hit 29 cities across North America with special guests TRIVIUM and HATEBREED, who stepped in to replace IN FLAMES who couldn’t join the tour due to travel restrictions. The tour was met with enormous acclaim, truly living up to its name and playing to a whopping 172,000 metal fans in the process.

Speaking on the success of the initial leg of the tour and his excitement in hitting the road again in 2022, MEGADETH’s leader and frontman, Dave Mustaine says

“The Metal Tour of The Year is exactly what it sounds like – a night of some of the best heavy metal bands in the world – live and loud. Anyone who came to a show last year knows what I mean, only this one’s going be even better. Do not miss out.”

Randy Blythe, inimitable frontman of LAMB OF GOD, adds

“It was great to get out on the road for an incredible tour last summer with Megadeth, Trivium and Hatebreed so we figured we’d do it again! We look forward to hitting new cities with Megadeth, Trivium and In Flames, who we’re happy to have over for leg 2!”

TRIVIUM’s Matthew Kiichi Heafy adds

“The Metal Tour Of The Year was one of the strongest, most incredible Metal tours in ages – it’s namesake nothing but accurate. How do you follow that up? By doing it again – even bigger, even better, and have it play everywhere it didn’t on the first leg. MTOTYII – let’s do this. “

With IN FLAMES singer, Anders Fridén stating

”We are excited to finally be able to join our dear friends in Megadeth, Lamb of God, and Trivium on this year’s, Metal Tour of The Year! We can’t wait to be back on the road in America and to reunite with you all. Don’t miss this tour it’s a juggernaut.”

Produced by Live Nation, the second leg of this epic metal trek will kick off on Saturday, April 9th in Las Vegas, NV and hit a further 21 cities before wrapping in Allentown, PA on Sunday, May 15. Full tour itinerary below

Tickets and VIP packages for all artists go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, January 14th, 2022 at 10am local time via MetalTourOfTheYear.com

The tour will be part of Live Nation’s Live Stubs initiative which provides digital, collectible NFT ticket stubs to ticket holders. Reimagining ticket stubs as digital collectible NFTs, Live Nation’s Live Stubs will mirror the unique section, row, and seat of each ticket purchased, allowing fans to collect ticket stubs once again – this time with more capabilities. Live Stubs will automatically be included with tickets on select Live Nation shows in North America. Fans will be able to view, share, gift, trade, and resell their live stubs on Livenation.com. These are collector items and will not replace the digital tickets needed to physically enter the show.

It was over 30 years ago that Dave Mustaine founded MEGADETH, in the process pioneering the sound that would become known the world over as thrash metal. And from the very beginning, the band proved to be the most lethal and audacious unit on the heavy music scene, pushing thrash to the limits of musical ferocity and instrumental virtuosity on early efforts like their 1985 debut, Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good! and 1986’s seminal Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?.

MEGADETH have taken their place as one of metal’s most influential and respected acts—not to mention among its most successful. They have gone on to sell more than 38 million albums worldwide, earning numerous accolades including a 2017 GRAMMY® Award for “Best Metal Performance” for the title track “Dystopia,” 12 GRAMMY® nominations, and scoring five consecutive platinum albums. With sheer determination and a relentless recording and touring schedule, MEGADETH worked their way up from headlining clubs to headlining arenas, festival and stadiums, cementing a legacy that continues to grow and spread throughout the world. MEGADETH are slated to release their 16th studio album later this year.

LAMB OF GOD propelled heavy metal into the new millennium two decades ago with the prophetically titled New American Gospel. They followed with 2003’s As the Palaces Burn, which made the Rolling Stone list of the Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time. Ashes of the Wake, released in 2004, was the first LAMB OF GOD album to be certified gold by the RIAA, as was 2006’s Sacrament, which also made a Top 10 Billboard 200 chart debut. In 2009, LAMB OF GOD released Wrath, their first with Josh Wilbur as producer, and earned the number one album spot on Billboard’s Hard Rock, Rock, and Tastemaker charts, with a number two position on the Billboard 200.

Those number one positions were repeated with 2012’s Resolution, which swung effortlessly between thrash, traditional metal, sludgy doom, with flashes of crust punk swagger and bravado. LAMB OF GOD’s last album, VII: Sturm und Drang (2015) made its debut on the Billboard 200 at number three and finished number 2 in the world charts, reaching Top 5 in five countries and six additional Top 15 positions. The single “512” was nominated for a GRAMMY® Award for “Best Metal Performance”, the band’s fifth nomination.

In 2020 LAMB OF GOD released their critically acclaimed self-titled opus, the band’s best work to date, featuring new drummer Art Cruz, LAMB OF GOD is re-energized and unrelenting, ready to lay claim to the metal throne.

TRIVIUM’s tenth album In The Court Of The Dragon arrived in 2021. The band and album have been praised by and featured in mainstream outlets like The New York Times, NPR, ForbesBillboard, TechCrunch, and Kotaku, as well as Guitar World, Revolver, Alternative Press, and more. They released the now-canonical album Ascendancy in 2005. It was recognized as KERRANG!’s “Album of the Year,” achieved a gold certification in the UK, and eclipsed sales of 500,000 worldwide. Metal Hammer placed it in the Top 15 of “The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of the 21st Century.” It ignited a string of six consecutive Top 25 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 and five straight Top 3 debuts on the Top Hard Rock Albums Chart, culminating on 2017’s benchmark “The Sin And The Sentence.”

That album elevated the group’s total stream tally past a quarter-of-a-billion. Additionally, “Betrayer” received a GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of “Best Metal Performance.” Unanimous acclaim followed from Decibel, Loudwire, Ultimate Guitar, MetalSucks, and Metal Hammer, who dubbed them, “quite simply one of the best bands in modern metal.” 2020 brought What The Dead Men Say. The album was produced by Trivium and Josh Wilbur and debuted at #35 on the Billboard Top 200; at #2 on the Top Current Albums Chart, and at #3 on both the Hard Rock Albums Chart and Top Rock Albums Chart. They have performed alongside Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and many others and graced the main stages of Download, Bloodstock, KNOTFEST, and beyond.

IN FLAMES are less of a band than they are a musical institution in the heavy music world. Since helping create Sweden’s legendary “Gothenburg Sound” three decades ago to their current status as melodic metal monoliths, the act have constantly eschewed trends in order to forge their own musical path.having been prevented from joining the initial leg of the METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR due to travel restrictions, they are primed and ready to bring their inimitable brand of metal to the stage on this upcoming run in support of the 20th Anniversary re-release of their landmark album ‘Clayman’ and 2019 album ‘I, The Mask’.
