Scorpions have today shared a brand new song, “Seventh Sun.”
In the language of musicians, the term “flageolet” refers to an ingenious technique of eliciting harmonics from a string instrument, producing various overtones in addition to the fundamental frequency of that one string.
From the very first note of “Seventh Sun,” Rudolf Schenker and his Flying V manage to spectacularly draw us into this powerful song in an almost mystical way, much in the tradition of Scorpions classics such as “Animal Magnetism” and “China White.”
Once more, artistic elements of this kind highlight the band’s intention to reaffirm the Scorpions’ unique DNA with their latest album Rock Believer.
“Seventh Sun” is the imminent lead single from their outstanding studio recording Rock Believer, scheduled for worldwide release on February 25.
Yet again, the band underlines the authenticity and power of their songs with exceptional lyrics.
Rock Believer, the credo of their new album, will also be the moniker of their upcoming tour.
In March and April 2022, the band is set to perform at the Planet Hollywood Resorts & Casino in Las Vegas as part of their residency, followed by a world tour scheduled to kick off with a number of shows in Germany in June 2022.
New Orleans band CANE HILL, recently named by Revolver as one of the most anticipated releases of 2022, have roared into 2022 with the video for the new single “Drag Me Down.” Watch it here.
“‘Drag Me Down,’ as the culmination of an EP dedicated to heartbreak and loss, is the polarity of its predecessors,” says singer Elijah Witt. “It is my first successful attempt at a true love song. I’ve always found it nearly impossible to write songs with a positive connotation attached to the concept of romance. After listening to Sleep Token on repeat for a month, I realized the only way for me to be satisfied lyrically was to create a bleak environment for my love to exist in. ‘Drag Me Down’ is my passion and desire to remain with the woman I love in life and evermore, wherever our souls may go — in death we will remain.”
Cane Hill dropped the Krewe De La Mort last year. The songs have curried favor everywhere from SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal to Revolver, Loudwire, and beyond.
At Giant Center in Hershey, PA, the band Ghost brought forth the good word of Impera, the band’s upcoming album due March, 11th, 2022. With the changes that have gone on since Ghost’s last tour before the pandemic and the christening of a new Papa, Ghost have created a new ritual with newly designed fashion for the Nameless Ghouls.
Hearing new songs from the upcoming album such as “Hunter’s Moon”, “Call Me Little Sunshine”, and the yet to be released “Kaisarion”, this performance felt special. There was a sense that Ghost were ready to take over the heavy music world again and gain new fans (Worshipers? Cultists? Ghouls?). With the little we know about Impera, it appears that it’s going to have Ghost leading fans into another bold direction.
One of the best things about Ghost is how they are able to make albums sound different as well as compelling and unique. Papa and the Ghouls are making music that stands out as something unique. The show in Hershey, PA was captivating from the opening of a new song all the way through “Mummy Dust” where the crowd was show with Ghost currency and gold glitter. Whether it was headbanging hard to “From The Pinnacle To The Pit” or having the crowd dance to “Dance Macabre”, the crowd of thousands (many of which came dressed up), loved this entire night.

With a double return to the UK in the Spring on the horizon, Texas’s favourite pop punk quartet Bowling For Soup are very pleased to announce the release of a brand new single in a few weeks time. “I Wanna Be Brad Pitt” is set for release on February 25th and pays homage to the Oscar winning actor in true Bowling For Soup style.
Ahead of the release of their upcoming new single, Bowling For Soup main man Jaret Reddick gives some insight as to why “BFS” have penned a tribute to one of Hollywood’s finest:
“Everyone who knows me, knows I love Brad Pitt. I got this chorus in my head while driving one day, and really, the rest kinda just wrote itself. I wanted the song to be a thoughtful tribute and not sacrifice the homage by making fun of him or things in his life. So that’s the direction I went and when it still got laughs from the band, I knew I had hit it out of the park.”
“I Wanna Be Brad Pitt” is the latest in a new set of singles released by Bowling For Soup over the last couple of years. These include the global hit smash “Alexa Bliss” (which is about to hit to 4 million views on YouTube alone), the life affirming “Getting Old Sucks (But Everybody’s Doing It)” and most recently the positivity of “Killin’ ‘Em With Kindness.”

Much of Nu Metal gets a bad rap (and sometimes deservedly so), but there were great Nu Metal bands and music. This video looks at 10 Great Nu Metal Albums.
Thanks to everyone that suggested a video like this. There were quite a few of you and many people replied to the Twitter thread on what some of your favorite Nu Metal albums were back at the turn of the century.
I made this video in a different format and presentation than I normally do in an order to cut down on editing time. A big part of the creation process is sitting in Adobe Premiere for hours on end, and I wanted to see if I could cut down on that in order to get more videos to you overall. Here’s hoping you guys don’t mind seeing my face a bit more.

On July 29th, extreme metal masters Arch Enemy will release their 11th studio album, Deceivers, via Century Media Records. For a preview of the record, the new single, “Handshake With Hell”, can be streamed worldwide now HERE. Directed by Patric Ullaeus, the video premiere for “Handshake With Hell” is set for 9AM PT//12PM ET//6PM CET today. Watch it here:
Michael Amott (Guitars) comments:
“Our new single/video ‘Handshake with Hell’ started off with some riffs and melodies that I thought might be suitable for each other, and when I showed the parts I had to Daniel (Erlandsson, drums), he also felt it had potential. We worked on a demo of it, developing it much further together, and once we had reached a point where we felt it was ready, we sent the instrumental version to Alissa over in Canada. She came back with this really cool approach to the vocals and lyrics that elevated the song even further. To me, it’s a stand-out track on the new ‘Deceivers‘ album, really showcasing what we are capable of as songwriters and performers in 2022 – it’s definitely one of the new songs I’m dying to play live on tour!”
Alissa White-Gluz adds: “When Michael and Daniel showed me the instrumental they had cooked up, I got a ton of vocal ideas to complete the song. ‘Handshake with Hell’ has a classic heavy metal feel, and it felt like the right time to unleash some classic heavy metal vocals to match. I think the result is really interesting and catchy!”

A collection of 11 tracks that are ruthlessly catchy and mercilessly violent, Deceiversstands toe-to-toe with the highlights of the band’s storied catalogue. Roaring to life with “Handshake With Hell”, Arch Enemy make it clear they are out for blood, and every track is a hit, from the moody “Poisoned Arrow” to the titanically anthemic “One Last Time”. Sounding more energized than ever, the quintet is operating at the highest level, delivering a maelstrom of diamond-hard riffing wrapped around cinematic melodies, thunderous drumming and towering vocals. Arch Enemy has proved, yet again, that they are unstoppable.

Moon Tooth, the Long Island-based four-piece who have wowed fans and critics alike, leading Rolling Stone to say: “not since the early days of the Mars Volta has a rock band managed to sound so wildly adventurous,” return with one of the year’s most eagerly-awaited rock albums: Phototroph (May 13, Pure Noise Records).
“The theme of plants growing towards the light was just something I kept coming back to in different songs,” explains Moon Tooth singer John Carbone on the impetus for the album title. “Our previous record, Crux, was like a crossroads and was dealing with a lot of negative shit. Phototroph is about walking from the middle and picking a road that goes onward and upward on a brighter path.”
News of the Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Quicksand, Dillinger Escape Plan) produced album is accompanied by the release of “Carry Me Home” and a hilariously, campy Tom Flynn-directed video. Guitar player Nick Lee provides insight into the track: “I really wanted to go all the way Allman Brothers or Hendrix on a Moon Tooth song. We’ve definitely flirted with those sounds on songs in the past but it felt really good to just go all the way bluesy-country and unabashedly old school rock and roll. I think this song is a testament to the fearlessness with which Moon Tooth writes music. We will flirt with any genres we want and it will still sound like us.”
“Carry Me Home” is the third preview of the forthcoming Phototroph, with the band unveiling the life-affirming clip for “Nymphaeaceae” in October, followed by the blistering, psychedelia-infused video for “The Conduit”.
Moon Tooth will join Dance Gavin Dance on their recently announced Spring tour, with tickets available tomorrow at 10 am local time.

Moon Tooth is vocalist John Carbone, guitar player Nick Lee, drummer Ray Marte, and bass player Vincent Romanelli. The Long Island-based band self-released their debut album, Chromaparagon, in early 2016. Metal Injection, in one of Moon Tooth’s earliest reviews, said the foursome “establish a riveting precedent of what can be created within the wide parameters of modern progressive music.” The band went on to catch the attention of heavy music fans, critics and labels alike, leading to Pure Noise Records signing Moon Tooth and re-releasing their widely-praised album, Crux, in 2019. The 11-song collection, co-produced by Machine (King Crimson, Every Time I Die) and Lamb of God’s Mark Morton, led to the band being championed by Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, leading to placements on both outlet’s Best of 2019 year-end lists.

New video coming on the YouTube channel this week for 20 Famous Bands’ Original Names. In an attempt to learn more about rock history, I learned how Van Halen was at one time called Rat Salad, and Green Day was once called Sweet Children. There are a lot of weird choices when bands were younger and I’m glad many of them realized that a new band name was going to be needed if they wanted to succeed.
Thanks again for the continued support. We’ll keep trying to push everything during the thick and thin of YouTube as well as everything else we are creating. Here’s hoping to good times and success for everyone in the future.
