“Nine Inch Nails is set to compose the score for the highly anticipated film Tron: Ares, starring Jared Leto. This marks a significant moment as it will be the first film score credited to Nine Inch Nails, rather than the duo of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who have previously collaborated on numerous soundtracks. The announcement was made during the D23 Expo, generating excitement among fans who are eager to see how the band’s iconic sound will translate to the Tron universe. With a release date scheduled for 2025, this project promises to blend Nine Inch Nails’ industrial rock roots with the futuristic themes of the Tron franchise, potentially delivering a unique auditory experience that could redefine film scoring in the sci-fi genre.” (Perplexity)

SAN FRANCISCO SHOEGAZE X GRUNGE POP ACT CHOKECHERRY SHARE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “NO OTHER PLACE” — WATCH
San Francisco shoe gaze x grunge pop trio chokecherry — comprised of vocalist/guitarist Izzie Clark and bassist/vocalist E. Scarlett Levinson, along with drummer Abri Crocitto — announced their signing to Fearless Records earlier this summer. At the time, they shared the video for their new single “Afterglow.” Watch it here.
The group has been steadily building a buzz since meeting on dating app Hinge. The San Francisco Gate praised chokecherry’s “blend of white-hot shoegaze,” calling it “the modern sound of the California sun vaporizing the San Francisco fog.” Clark and Levinson may not have worked out on the romantic front, but the pair are clearly musical soulmates and it’s beautiful thing to witness and hear.
Today, chokecherry share the video for the new single “No Other Place.” Watch it here.
Chokecherry “No Other Place”
It’s a fast-paced, electric shock of a track that spotlights the heavier aspects of chokecherry’s sound. Ethereal vocals in the verses give way to a cathartic yell in the chorus — it’s the band’s “f**k you” to that tiny but vocal voice inside your head that tells you you’re not enough.
“This song is about fighting off the metaphorical mean person in your head,” says Clark. “It’s a battle cry. It’s also sort of an abstract encapsulation of a very complex feeling of trying to love and forgive yourself. This is a snapshot of being at war with yourself, but at the end, it feels like a catharsis. I had a ton of fun writing in a new tuning for this one, and writing the song with [producer] Zach Tuch; we had just met him that day and by the end of the session had a song in hand that we all loved and had become great friends.”
Levinson concurs, saying, “This was an incredibly collaborative writing process and we loved the result. Vocal lines became guitar solos became hooks — it was a daylong group brainstorm that yielded magnetic results. Massive shout out to the magical ways of producer Zach Tuch. This song is two self-conscious voices dueling in your head; the metaphorical hypercritical devil and soothing, forgiving angel are sitting on your shoulders exchanging verbal blows.”
Chokecherry will capture the hearts of rock fans everywhere with songs that boast thick, ’70s-inspired bass lines laden with strategically placed howls and hums. Their passionate, hypnotic delivery overflows and fills into every word, allowing vulnerability that listeners can truly attach to. If their Spotify streams —2.8 million global streams and counting — are any indication of how many music fans will dig what chokecherry are putting down, then it’s time for 2024 to buckle the F up.
In 1999, the brute force of Slipknot’s Self-Titled release was a shock to fans of heavy music. The age of nu-metal was turned upside down by mask wearing musicians who were as focused on creating chaos on stage as they were crafting music. Fast forward to 2024, and the 25th Anniversary Tour has Iowa’s favorite sons paying tribute to their roots with a show dedicated to what led to Slipknot becoming a household name.
With a setlist dedicated to music before the year 2000, Slipknot performed the Self-Titled along with remixed clips from over two decades ago at CFG Arena in Baltimore, MD. The biggest highlight for me personally was being in the photo pit during “Wait And Bleed”, hearing Corey Taylor should “BALTIMORE”, and then hearing two young ladies at the barricade should in reply “That’s us!”
The stage set was designed to reflect what Slipknot was doing 25 years ago, but scaled to a modern venue. Removing the endless pyro and percussion high-rises, Slipknot replicated the visuals of the Self-Titled days while performing the biggest hits from that era including “(sic)”, “Spit It Out”, and “Surfacing”.
In the tradition of a classic being made modern, Slipknot nailed the concept of giving a show reflecting what was happening in 1999. As opposed to the endless tour grind of always trying to promote new material, the 25th Anniversary Tour relishes in what was accomplished while paying tribute to fans who have been them since the previous century.

The buzz around Knocked Loose has become massive. Along with releasing their third studio album You Won’t Go Before You’re Suppose To, Knocked Loose have gained a reputation for creating a virtual Mortal Kombat in clubs and festivals through encouraged pits. The hardcore and metalcore fans have latched onto Knocked Loose as a new banner band for an aggressive sounding live group. Needless to say, Knocked Loose supporting Slipknot on this tour was the perfect choice.
Knocked Loose “Suffocate” Ft. Poppy
Opening the night was Sweden’s Orbit Culture who brought out melodic death metal to the Baltimore crowd. This was my first time seeing the group and the sound instantly ushered in fans who wanted something loud and guttural while also being different than what Slipknot and Knocked Loose were bringing to the tour. It caught my attention as many at the barricade knew of the band and had favorite songs from Orbit Culture who formed over 10 years prior.
Not only was this a unique tour, but it also proves that themes for bigger bands can work. Anniversary tours are becoming more common, but giving a tour attempting to represent the visual style and sound of a famous album 20+ years ago is an effort worth applauding, especially one that is able to pack so many people in.
I spoke with a member of security at the venue while “Purity” was playing, and she told me she saw Slipknot on Ozzfest in the 2000’s. I then replied with how we were roughly the same age and that there were many fans in attendance who weren’t even alive with Slipknot’s self-titled album came out. The lasting power of Slipknot is something many detractors would hate to admit, but the music has held up. Maggots keep spawning and over the years Slipknot keeps gaining more fans.

“Slipknot is celebrating a monumental milestone with their 25th Anniversary Tour, aptly named “Here Comes The Pain.” Kicking off on August 6, 2024, in Noblesville, Indiana, this tour marks a significant return to the band’s roots, featuring a setlist that heavily draws from their iconic self-titled debut album released in 1999. The tour will include performances across major cities in North America, culminating at Knotfest Iowa on September 21, 2024. Founding member Shawn “Clown” Crahan has expressed a desire to create more intimate experiences for fans, promising a visceral performance that embodies the band’s unique “maggot culture.” With support from bands like Knocked Loose and Orbit Culture, Slipknot is set to deliver an unforgettable celebration of their legacy and heavy metal prowess throughout 2024 and beyond.” (Perplexity)

“Aerosmith, the legendary rock band that has captivated audiences for over five decades, has officially announced their retirement from touring as of August 2, 2024. This decision comes after front man Steven Tyler’s ongoing struggles with a vocal injury, which has hindered his ability to perform. Initially, the band had planned a farewell tour titled “Peace Out,” intending to celebrate their legacy with fans, but after only a few shows, they were forced to cancel all remaining dates due to Tyler’s health issues. In a heartfelt statement, the band expressed their gratitude to their loyal fan base, affectionately known as the “Blue Army,” acknowledging the profound impact their music has had on fans’ lives. While this marks the end of an era for live performances, Aerosmith’s rich catalog of hits will continue to resonate with fans around the world, ensuring their legacy in rock music endures.” (Perplexity)

The Light Age was written and recorded over a few weeks in both Buffalo, NY, and Milford, CT, where the members reside.Taking cues from the Grunge Rock and Hardcore of the 1990s that was so influential to them growing up, the members of Many Eyes skillfully blend chaos with melody.

With Craig Vittorio now on guitar and Sean Vallie on bass, alongside Nick Bellmore’s powerful drumming and Keith Buckley’s commanding vocals, the band remains focused on pushing forward and exploring new creative horizons.

Italian Goth metal legends Lacuna Coil are proud to unleash a new single “Hosting The Shadow” on the world. After their successful collaboration with Ash Costello of New Years Day on their latest single“In The Mean Time“, the new track “Hosting The Shadow” comes with none other than Randy Blythe from the mighty Lamb of God.
Lacuna Coil comments about the new single and collaboration with Randy: “‘Hosting The Shadow’ is a trip through light and dark, where silence reveals its hidden secrets. Obscure moments can become occasions to evolve, to learn to master one’s own shadow – which is crucial in order to prevail. Randy Blythe did an incredible job on this track, we absolutely adore his voice and his evil laugh! Our admiration for him is infinite and to have him as a guest on this song is a dream come true. Partnering with a friend you respect immensely, that also kicks ass on stages around the world: it doesn’t get any better than this. We’re looking forward to the day we can perform ‘Hosting The Shadow’ live together!“
The appreciation for the collaboration is more than mutual. Randy Blythe adds: “I was super excited when Lacuna Coil asked me to sing on a song with them – not only am I a big fan of their music, they are truly beautiful souls who have been like family to me for 20 years now. We’ve played shows together all over the world, and I’ve always wanted to jump onstage and sing with them – I can’t wait until it actually happens with ‘Hosting the Shadow’!”
Following their features with Ash Costello and Randy Blythe, Lacuna Coil will head out to the UK & Ireland this October, with special guests and friends Blind Channel from Finland. See below for all dates; tickets can be purchased via: https://lacunacoil.com/

BETTER LOVERS’ HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED DEBUT ALBUM, HIGHLY IRRESPONSIBLE, ARRIVES OCTOBER 25 VIA SHARPTONE RECORDS PRE-ORDERS: https://bfan.link/highly-irresponsible
Better Lovers, a band that didn’t even exist just 16 months ago, and have rapidly risen to prominence with two blistering tours across North America and a pair of overseas treks, playing for sold-out crowds and featuring prominently on 2024’s most prestigious European festivals, release their debut album, Highly Irresponsible, on Oct. 25 via SharpTone Records.
A preview of the eagerly-awaited debut comes today with the release of “A White Horse Covered in Blood,” along with its Eric Richter-produced video (https://youtu.be/LNocoFQ0ecE). Guitarist Jordan Buckley humorously shares, “Playing and hearing our own music makes us want to run through walls. So we made a video where, while playing and hearing our own music, we run through walls. This ain’t rocket surgery!”
Better Lovers “A White Horse Covered In Blood”
Discussing the album, Jordan continues, “Writing and recording our first full length was slightly more surgical than the EP, but had a similar lack of restraint. I feel more pressure giving a quote for this press release than I felt all winter in Will’s studio. I got to wake up every day and watch the masters perfect their craft. I was a student. It was a playground. Everything was funny. We were reading each other’s minds. Even creating our own language at some points. I didn’t know if I was watching my closest friends write music, or if I was watching music use us to exist. The voice in my head warning me how Highly Irresponsible it was to hop on this bull again was gone. Replaced by big ideas, inside jokes, and a rejuvenated love for helping to write songs that don’t sound like anything else. Humans and animals alike are programmed to do wild things for what they love. Highly Irresponsible things. And we love what we’ve created. We know you will too.”
Greg Puciato adds: “New album. First full length. It’s a typical thing to say, but we’re excited to start getting this out there. Everyone really brought their best to the album, and brought out the best in each other, and that goes for everyone behind-the-scenes too. I’m honestly just over here happy that I fit the word ‘buddy’ into a song.”
Recorded this Spring, Highly Irresponsible benefits from the dual role of Will Putney, who, besides being one of the band’s guitarists, also brings his production skills to the album. Putney explains, “Being a member of the band and the producer is actually a real advantage for Better Lovers. We’re so dialed in to exactly what we want to do, and our creative process is so in sync and natural that we rarely hit a wall when we work on music. My role is to capture the energy of the band the way it’s intended to sound: a band firing on all cylinders.”
Album pre-orders, including limited-edition vinyl variants and CD, as well as digital pre-saves, are available now: https://bfan.link/highly-irresponsible.
Highly Irresponsible track list: 1. Lie Between The Lines 2. Your Misplaced Self 3. A White Horse Covered In Blood 4. Future Myopia 5. Deliver Us From Life 6. Drowning In A Burning World 7. Everything Was Put Here For Me 8. Superman Died Paralyzed 9. At All Times 10. Love As An Act of Rebellion

Gojira – Ah! Ca ira! (Paris, Jeux Olympiques 2024)
“Gojira’s groundbreaking performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony has set a new precedent for heavy metal on a global stage. As the first metal band to grace the Olympic Opening Ceremony, Gojira delivered a striking rendition of the revolutionary anthem “Ah! Ça Ira,” accompanied by a theatrical portrayal of a decapitated Marie Antoinette. This bold performance, which took place at the historic Conciergerie, featured explosive pyrotechnics and a unique blend of metal and opera, showcasing the band’s signature aggressive sound alongside mezzo-soprano Marina Viotti. Gojira’s frontman, Joe Duplantier, expressed the immense responsibility of representing the metal genre, emphasizing the need for originality and hope in their performance. This moment not only captivated audiences but also sparked discussions about the role of heavy metal in mainstream culture, marking a significant milestone for both the band and the genre itself.” (Perplexity)
