The Bobby Lees To Release ‘Hollywood Junkyard’ EP June 17

The Bobby Lees, the upstate New York four-piece Uncut described as “an explosion of intensity of high-concept, low budget rock’n’roll” and The Chicago Reader said have “the chops and the weirdness to refresh vintage rock, punk and blues…,” have signed with Ipecac Recordings, releasing the four-song Hollywood Junkyard EP on June 17.

The Bobby Lees said of partnering with Ipecac: “We’re very excited to be on Ipecac Recordings! They have bands we love, and most importantly the label is run by honest, no bullshit people. They let their artists make their own decisions and we really appreciate that. It’s rare nowadays for a label to take a chance on a band that doesn’t fit in one lane. Ipecac welcomed us and that challenge with open arms. They seem to be a label that fights for the misfits and the bands that have their own pulse. As soon as we met them, we knew this album found its home.”

“It’s so great to welcome The Bobby Lees to Ipecac. Take no prisoners, DIY rock and roll. Can’t wait to share these tunes with the world,” shared Mike Patton, with his Ipecac co-owner Greg Werckman adding: “When our A&R guy, Henry Rollins, brought The Bobby Lees to our attention we did not hesitate. A great band, great people with the right attitude. Honored to be a part of the future of this band.”

News of the band’s signing and the forthcoming release comes with today’s arrival of the EP’s title track and its accompanying video. The clip, directed by indie filmmaker John Swab, finds the musicians drugged by an overeager stylist and publicist, as the band’s label seeks to hone on a “look” for The Bobby Lees.

“The video is a general commentary on our current culture and its obsession with the external, and trying to be famous by any means,” explains singer/guitar player Sam Quartin. “The world of TikTok and Instagram feels like a trap for most of us, so we try to stay away from it as much as possible and instead focus on what you can’t see. Lyrically, the song is about an experience I had during a psychotic break when I thought a star shot into my body. After that I started acting – I was told I didn’t look right and couldn’t ‘make it’ in entertainment without a gimmick or a look. But despite that, I got cast in a few films and was exposed to some amazing people, also some pretty shitty people and situations. The story of the video comes from what I witnessed. People in power manipulating others to do whatever they thought was best monetarily, not what was best for their artists health and well-being. I guess that’s true for a lot of things. The end result of money, fame and success being more important than truth, love, and sanity.”

Pre-save the Hollywood Junkyard EP here. Vance Powell (Jack White, Bleached, The Raconteurs) produced the four-song release.

The Woodstock, N.Y.-based band have released two albums: Beauty Pageant (2018) and Skin Suit (2020), with the latter produced by Jon Spencer. Classic Rock Magazine adeptly said of the band: “Rock and roll as it ought to be: off the hook, unhinged, ravaged by Satan, hysterically vital, both kicking serious arse and against polite society’s pricks. As undisciplined as No Wave, as steeped in comatose cool as ‘70s CBGB’s blank generation, and as stylishly ferocious as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.”

Tremonti Announces ‘Tremonti Sings Sinatra’ To Support NDSS

GRAMMY® Award Winning musician, producer, author as well as founding member of hard rock bands Alter Bridge, Creed and Tremonti, Mark Tremonti is “stepping out” with his most-ambitious and challenging project to date. Mark has partnered with National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) as he releases an album of Frank Sinatra covers entitled Tremonti Sings Sinatra. The album of selections from Frank Sinatra’s catalog is being released as part of a new charity initiative created by Tremonti called Take A Chance For Charity. Proceeds from the album – scheduled for release on May 27th  – will go to support NDSS and the work they do to advocate for and support individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Mark and his family were blessed to welcome their first daughter Stella last March –  who was born with Down syndrome – and the idea for the project was born.

A video sharing the story of Take A Chance For Charity can be seen here:

“For years, I’ve loved singing along to Frank’s songs,” Mark explains. “One night, I found an old video of him performing ‘The Song Is You’ from 1944. It made me want to dive into his vocal approach. I was all in and I wanted to do something with it. When we found out about our daughter Stella’s Down syndrome diagnosis, the stars aligned. My obsession with Sinatra had its reason. Frank Sinatra raised more than a billion dollars for charity and that is a fact I wish the public the public knew more about. Beneath his cool and calm persona, he had a big heart. Doing this charity in his name was another way the stars had aligned. I decided to do this record to raise funds for families and individuals with Down syndrome. This project is the start of a new purpose that I will have for the rest of my life.”

Mark Tremonti has come together with surviving members of Frank Sinatra’s orchestra, creating new takes on some of the classics and some deeper cuts from Frank’s catalog. From the opening horns and piano of “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” to final vocal outro of “All Or Nothing At All,” Mark Tremonti showcases the signature vocal approach and exemplary musicianship that made Sinatra’s work timeless. To see his vision through, Mark reached out to Frank Sinatra’s musical director Mike Smith who collected as many remaining members as possible of Frank’s touring band to record the music for Tremonti Sings Sinatra. Popular standards like “I’ve Got The World On A String,” “My Way” and “That’s Life” find new life in the hands of these incredible musicians. Mark Tremonti – known for his guitar work that has won him countless accolades – leaves the instrument behind and just sings on the 14-track album. The artwork on the album cover is an original painting that Tremonti created especially for this project.

A video for the first track “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” can be seen here:

About Take A Chance For Charity: Take A Chance For Charity is a new charity focused on giving artists / actors / athletes / anyone with a platform the ability to get out of their comfort zone. The idea is to have people get out of the genre they are known for to raise funds / awareness for the charity of their choice. We want people to have the most fun they ever had while raising money for charity. An actor can sing, an athlete can dance, a musician can perform a song out of their musical genre – any artistic interpretation. This gives participants the ability to do something out of the ordinary – in fact extraordinary – all in the name of charity. Tremonti Sings Sinatra will be the first release for the cause, the recipient being NDSS.

TOOL Return Live And Prove Music Is An Experience

Ten years ago TOOL fans wondered if they would ever see the band live again or hear new music. In 2022, TOOL has returned for another arena tour supporting Fear Inoculum, the band’s 2019 return album. Maynard James Keenan made sure to get St. Louis alert and active. When telling the crowd they sounded like Kansas City at first, he proved he knew how to get Enterprise Center attendees to react.

Hearing many songs from Fear Inoculum live reinforced my belief that the group’s latest album is an experience meant to be heard live. Closing the night with the amazing “Invincible” as well as performing “Fear Inoculum”, “Pneuma”, and “Descending”, these songs hit harder live and the expression in the performance was deeper. This is something that few bands can keep over time, but here is TOOL proving they have no issue handling it all.

It was later in the set that Maynard James Keenan disappeared behind the stage while the rest of the band performed. It was during that time that MJK performed his next bit. Amping up the ridiculous behavior from playing Jenga or Operation, the singer gave drummer Danny Carey an assist to bang the gong.

10 Music Videos Banned By MTV!

As is every TOOL performance, the visuals added to the wire curtain and back screen were phenomenal. The capacity crowd in downtown St. Louis were in unison enjoying the show and in some ways, it felt like a bigger connection together since TOOL’s return to Enterprise Center in 2019. Possibly because of a big concert finally happening after the pandemic, possibly because of the tightly precise and engaging set. Regardless, everything about last night’s show was memorable.

We’ve heard several confirmations but no dates or timelines of new music from the band. The bright side is showing however that we will be graced with new more new music soon. TOOL has recently made Opiate² and released the band’s first music video in over 15 years. A clip of the video can be found below.

Despite so much happening over the past few years, it appears that the band is ready for the future. New music, touring, cheeky backstage shenanigans, and everything else TOOL can think of. 30 years in and TOOL are showing different generations of music fans how a live music experience can be just that: an experience. I’m looking forward to hearing and seeing what the band does next.

CHERRY BOMBS Explode on This Summer’s Music Festival Circuit

We have waited nearly two years for real touring and festivals to commence … wait no more!! Cherry Bombs bring an exciting and entirely new way to experience rock and roll music. You won’t believe your eyes watching their daredevil acts, feminine power, fearless and dynamic performances featuring dance, fire, aerial, grinding, stilt walking, and so much more.

Alicia Taylor shares, “We are beyond thrilled to be invited to perform at Louder Than Life and Aftershock in 2022! It feels incredible to be accepted alongside the incredible bands that are on the bill and solidifies that there IS a place for us in the world of rock and metal. We are carving out our own unique path and are eternally grateful to those like Danny Wimmer and team for seeing something in us.”

Corey Taylor adds, “Everybody has their favorite tours. I have been very fortunate to have been a part of so many over the years. To not only be able to tour with my wife, but also to know that they are putting on an amazing show as well, I can maybe think of a handful of people who can say that. Get ready for a rad time!

Tune in now:
Girl Gang Season 4 – premiered March 9th on YouTube.
Follow the Cherry Bombs, one of the first groups to tour during the pandemic. Watch how they face the obstacles and achieve success!

Alicia Taylor explains “When Corey Taylor and I started putting together our tour during 2021, we were one of the first acts in our genre to accomplish this during the pandemic. We wanted to do it right, by reducing as many risks as possible- to not only prove to ourselves, but to our industry, that perhaps there is a way to adapt and make shows happen. We covered as many bases as possible: temperature checks, consistent testing on the road, reduced capacity at shows, requiring masks, we stayed in a bubble- we really wanted to make this tour a success. Girl Gang 4 is all about that tour, and the process behind making it happen.

2019 saw the premiere of the YouTube docu-series titled, “Girl Gang“, which pulled the curtain back to reveal what it takes to put on such a unique show. The series has been met with overwhelmingly positive reception for its raw storytelling and willingness of the performers to show vulnerability. Episodes focus on the inner-workings of Cherry Bombs, including the adventures, challenges, and triumphs they experience.

Like many in the industry, the pandemic of 2020 forced Cherry Bombs to cancel their tour. However, they adapted quickly, and filmed their headlining show, Macabarét – a story of karma wrapped in temptation, action, and danger around every corner. This “eyegasm” of a movie was streamed worldwide and met with rave reviews, cementing it to become an annual event every October.

About CHERRY BOMBS:
Cutting their teeth in the world of motorcycle rallies, they soon climbed the ranks of live entertainment by being the first group of its kind to bag a national tour with Buckcherry and Black Stone Cherry in 2016. Since then, Cherry Bombs have appeared in performances and tours nationally and internationally (Stone Sour/Steel PantherCorey TaylorKNOTFEST MexicoForceFest MexicoKNOTFEST Colombia), on television (AEW), and in numerous music videos (Corey Taylor21 SavageFozzyMoonshine Bandits).

Abby K Unleash New Single & Music Video For “99ºC”

The most recent single by Nashville hard rockers, Abby K, made it’s star-studded debut recently while on tour with Nita Strauss (Alice Cooper). “99ºC” shakes up the typical melodic rock sound brought to us by Abby K by bringing on a heavier sound matched with an even fiercer attitude. Abby K states that the song is “like a 4 minute long panic attack”. The band still holds true to their meaningful lyricism while packing a punch with a new sense of raw aggression not yet heard by Abby K fans, making “99ºC” a brand new chapter for the group.

Leading up to their debut album, Abby K has launched a Kickstarter to help gain funding for the record. With worthwhile rewards for donations ranging from $5 to $1,000, there is an option for any music fan to help get these young and hungry rockers into the studio. If their funding goal is met by the end of March, Abby K will head into the recording studio in June and listeners can expect a full length record in October. The group has over 60 songs in their arsenal and are eager to make a dent in getting them recorded and onto your playlists. To support this talented trio, please consider selecting a reward on their Kickstarter.

“Water boils at 100°C. “99°C” is about being on the verge of your breaking point and reaching the degree at which you boil over. I wrote “99°C” in the heat of the pandemic. Like most people, my mental health declined quite a bit during quarantine, and writing “99°C” was very therapeutic for me. Now that it’s released and so many people are relating to it, it makes me feel like I’m not alone!” – Abby K

Abby K is a bassist, vocalist, and songwriter from Charlotte, North Carolina. She picked up the bass at age 13 after being influenced by Gene Simmons at a KISS Concert. Months into her musical journey, she was 1 of 3 bassists in the United States selected to attend GRAMMY Camp in Los Angeles, CA. She claims that her proudest moment was when Nita Strauss joined her onstage to perform Iron Maiden’s “The Trooper”. Since then, she has developed her own style of musicianship which is commonly described as the love child of Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) and Lita Ford.

Sabaton Announces North American 2022 Tour Dates

Today, multi-Gold and Platinum Swedish metal band SABATON, sees its new album, The War To End All Wars (Nuclear Blast) debut at #1 on Billboard’s Current Rock Albums and Current Hard Music Albums charts.  Additionally, the album took the #1 spot in Germany, #1 in Sweden, #2 in Norway, and #2 on the UK Rock & Metal Chart.

Also today, SABATON announces “The Tour To End All Tours – North America 2022,” a 25-date U.S. trek that will include a special headline show at Montreal’s Place Bell, the band’s first-ever arena headline concert in Canada.  The tour, produced by FPC Live, kicks off on Thursday, September 15 at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, WA, and will wrap up at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom on October 23.  Supporting Sabaton on all dates will be special guest Epica, the renowned Dutch symphonic metal band.  Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 18 at 10:00AM (local); go to https://www.sabaton.net/tour/ for all special pre-sale and purchasing information.

Known for its high energy and electrifying live shows, each song is an epic tale of real-life military encounters and the men and women who lived them.  Despite the thousands of shows Sabaton has performed, the line-up – Joakim Brodén/vocals, keys, Pär Sundström/bass, Chris Rörland/guitar, Tommy Johansson/guitar, and Hannes Van Dahl/drums – not only sets a potent tone of power and velocity while having so much fun on stage, but a communal one, not just interacting with each other, but engaging those in the audience and playing every show with the intensity of their first.

“We’re all looking forward to this tour,” said the band’s Pär Sundström.  “It will have been three years since we’ve brought our headline show to America, so we are more ready than ever.  And, with the release of our new album, we now have a vault full of new songs to play.”

“The Tour To End All Tours” is in support of Sabaton’s tenth album, The War To End All Wars, which was released March 4 (Nuclear Blast) and is receiving glowing reviews:  BraveWords called the album “a work of art,” The Metal Voice described it as “a masterpiece…Sabaton’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon,’” and Metal Injection dubbed it “epic in scope and attitude.”

“With our last album, ‘The Great War,’” added Brodén, “we found that we had only scratched the surface in terms of the powerful stories of courage and bravery and also the horrors that took place during the first World War.  Fans would contact us and tell us these amazing stories from World War One that none of us had ever heard of before.  Incredible stories about everyday people who were willing to give their lives for something bigger than themselves.  These were stories of a frightening and liberating time in history that had to be told.”

Motionless In White Announce “Scoring The End Of The World”

Roadrunner Records band Motionless In White have announced their anxiously awaited new full-length album, Scoring The End of the World, set for release on June 10, 2022.

It is available to pre-save on all streaming platforms today with exclusive merch bundles available for pre-order in the band’s official store.

To herald its arrival, the Scranton, PA quintet have also shared the first single “Cyberhex,” which is available on all streaming platforms and joined by an official music video directed by the band’s guitarist Ricky Olson and Logan Beaver — now live on the band’s official YouTube channel.

Vocalist Chris Motionless elaborated on the ambitious new project stating, “‘Cyberhex’ is my love letter to you, our fans, for everything you have done for me over the course of some of the most mentally taxing few years I’ve had to go through. At times where I felt like my world was ending, as well as the world around us, it was always in my mind that I was able to turn to the special relationship we have created together for help, and I cannot thank you enough for that. Outside of my own personal experiences, it has been equally as fulfilling to me to see that in the face of tireless forces that continue to try and perpetuate hatred and negativity towards so many of us coexisting on this planet, we have all stood together to resist and fight back knowing that love and compassion will always prevail. We ARE the resistance. We ARE Cyberhex. I love you. Thank you.”

On “Cyberhex,” an ominous synth melody snaps like the click of a trigger into a pummeling glitchy guitar riff as vocalist Chris Motionless warns, “There’s no tomorrow. His apocalyptic verses give way to a robotic sample, “Initiate Cyberhex,” before the cataclysmically catchy chorus takes hold. Strings pierce the militaristic bridge, and screams cut through the chaos. In what may be their most cinematic visual yet, the story of the song comes to life on-screen under Olson’s deft direction.

Scoring The End of the World fully encompasses the expanse of the band’s dynamic, deep, and dark vision, and marks the band’s first full-length body of work in three years since 2019’s Disguise. The latter has quietly made a major impact on rock music and culture. The single “Another Life” stands out as their most-streamed song ever with over 23 million YouTube views on the music video. The record claimed a spot on Loudwire’s “50 Best Metal Albums of 2019,” plus it ignited the creative renaissance that would set the stage for the statement-making Scoring The End of the World.

Later this month, Motionless In White will kick-off a massive triple co-headline North American tour. Deemed the Trinity of Terror Tour, the run will feature the unholy triumvirate of Motionless In White, Black Veil Brides, and Ice Nine Kills and will be the first time ever that fans get to see all three bands on the same stage each night [full itinerary below]. The coast-to-coast outing, which will see the three bands alternating closing sets each night, is set to kick off on March 17 in Mesa, AZ and make stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Philadelphia, and more, before wrapping up with a performance at Norfolk’s Chartway Arena on April 27. For tickets and more information, visit here

Last year, Motionless In White unleashed the standalone single “Timebomb.” It has gathered 5.7 million Spotify streams and 1.6 million YouTube views on the music video. Earning critical acclaim, Loudwire hailed it as “dark but uplifting – and heavy,””and KERRANG! urged “prepare your neck.

to make St. Anger.

Ghost is a Swedish rock band that was formed in Linköping in 2006. In 2010, they released a three-track demo followed by a 7-inch vinyl titled “Elizabeth“, and later their debut full-length album Opus Eponymous. The song “Ritual” was chosen by Kerrang! as one of “The 50 Most Evil Songs Ever.” The Grammis-nominated album was widely praised and significantly increased their popularity. Their second album and major label debut, Infestissumam, was released in 2013, debuted at number one in Sweden, and won the Grammis Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Album. The band released their third studio album, Meliora, in 2015 to much critical acclaim and high record sales, reaching number one in their home country of Sweden, and number eight in the United States. Its lead single, “Cirice“, earned them the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. The band released their fourth studio album, Prequelle, in 2018.

Impera is the fifth studio album by the Swedish rock band Ghost. It was released on 11 March 2022 and was produced by Klas Åhlund.
