Winona Fighter Releases “HAMMS IN A GLASS” Music Video

Rising punk rock act Winona Fighter is excited to share the brand new music video for their hit single “HAMMS IN A GLASS”, taken from their forthcoming debut album MY APOLOGIES TO THE CHEF. Fans can watch the video now, here:

The ‘HAMMS IN A GLASS’ music video is as chaotic as the song,” shares frontwoman and multi-instrumentalist Coco Kinnon. It is completely one take and was totally a “fly by the seat of our pants” type shoot. Jake Johnston over at We’re All Gonna Die did such an amazing job at directing on the fly as we were pretty much trying something different with each take.

She continues: “Something extremely special about this music video is that it feels like a call back to our first and only music video we made before singing to Rise ‘You Look Like A Drunk Phoebe Bridgers’- a one take video, which was done with pretty much pocket change. It was so cool being able to elevate the concept while still keeping it flexible and fun.

MY APOLOGIES TO THE CHEF, featuring recent singles “ATTENTION”, “Swear To God That I’m (FINE)”, “I’M IN THE MARKET TO PLEASE NO ONE”, and more, is set to be released on February 14th via Rise Records. Pre-orders for the new album are available now at https://WinonaFighter.lnk.to/MyApologiesToTheChef.

Along with the album release, the band will also be hitting the road on their headlining Yes, Chef Tour from February 14th – March 7th. Tickets are on-sale now and available at https://winonafighter.com/.

About Winona Fighter

Fronted by the electric Coco Kinnon, the Nashville based punk band is breathing new life into the resurgent punk scene, and they’re on a mission to create punk music that is accessible and accepting to all music lovers willing to listen.

Kinnon’s introduction to the Boston punk rock scene at an early age was the catalyst influence for her current sound and stage presence. Moving to Nashville gave her a task to expose all music lovers to the power of thrashable tunes. After recruiting lead guitarist Dan Fuson, they set off to do the scene Coco had left behind justice. Eventually the two of them added Austin Luther (bass/producer) to the family.

The band is recognized as an energized powerhouse during their live performances. Their shows are a space where all bullshit and ego is left at the door – everyone is welcome, equal and needs to get on their fucking feet. In recent times, they have opened for the bands Incubus, Motion City SoundtrackBadflower, and Something Corporate, in addition to playing multiple sets at Bonnaroo 2023. Other recent performances include Is For Lover’s Festivals and Shiprocked 2024.

Earlier this year Winona Fighter took SXSW by storm, followed by a full US tour with Bayside, Finch, and Armor For Sleep. The band also performed at this year’s Shaky Knees Music Festival, Summerfest, 80/35 Music Festival, and most recently took to the stage at Riot Fest, Oceans Calling Music FestivalLouder Than Life, and Aftershock.

Following their signing to Rise Records the band released new singles “I’m In The Market To Please No One” and “Swear To God That I’m (FINE)”, in addition to new versions of fan favorites “Subaru” and “Wlbrn St Tvrn”. Fans can look forward to more new music in the coming months, including Winona Fighter’s debut full-length record My Apologies To The Chef.

“The 2025 edition of Download Festival is set to be a landmark event, with Sleep Token taking the stage as one of the headliners alongside Green Day and Korn. This marks a significant milestone for the anonymous masked collective, who have rapidly risen to prominence since their formation in 2016. Sleep Token’s inclusion as a headliner is a testament to their meteoric rise and the impact they have made on the heavy music scene, with millions of monthly listeners and recent arena headlining shows under their belt.

Download Festival founder Andy Copping has defended the decision to feature Sleep Token as a headliner, highlighting the band’s deserving status due to their immense growth and popularity over the last two years. Copping noted that Download has a history of elevating newer bands to headlining status, citing examples like Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, and Bring Me The Horizon, and believes that Sleep Token is ready for this moment.

The festival, taking place from June 13-15, 2025, at Donington Park in Leicestershire, will feature a diverse lineup that includes other notable acts such as Weezer, Bullet For My Valentine, Jimmy Eat World, Spiritbox, and Sex Pistols with Frank Carter. With over 90 artists announced so far and more to be revealed, Download Festival 2025 promises to be an unforgettable experience for fans of rock, metal, and alternative music. Tickets are now available, with presales already live and general sales starting on November 14 at 9 PM.” (Perplexity)

Spirit Leaves Release New Song “Sky On Fire”

Spirit Leaves, hard rock band from Orlando, Florida, returns with “Sky On Fire,” their latest hard-hitting single set for release on November 15th via InVogue Records. Showcasing intense themes and an energetic atmosphere, the band dives deeper with this track, taking listeners on an introspective journey exploring ego, identity, and the emotional battles that ignite within.

With influences spanning hardcore and artful modern rock, Spirit Leaves has crafted “Sky On Fire” as an anthem for anyone feeling caught between who they are and who they want to be. The band’s captivating energy is on full display, promising yet another unforgettable addition to their growing discography.

Spirit Leaves “Sky On Fire”

The new single captures an intense push-and-pull, grappling with the tension between one’s outward ego and inner self. Vocalist XZYLO reflects on these complexities, sharing, “This song is about ego vs. self. Ego being the part of you that can’t help but want to show off being the center of attention at all times, and how that show of force can lead to negative things. And oneself referring to more the mask behind the ego and what it really wants. This song tackles how I feel personally about these two things, and how I want it presented to others vs. how I feel about myself.”

Sky On Fire” is a sonic wildfire, igniting with driving atmospheric guitar riffs at the breakdown, ambient vocals throughout, and relentless movements that embody both the grandeur and gravity of the themes. The intense yearning for liberation from self-imposed chains and acknowledging the familiar struggle of maintaining balance is evident lyrically throughout the track. Each line captures the duality between lofty dreams and harsh realities, weaving in powerful imagery of skies and flames to represent the inner turmoil that drives Spirit Leaves’ sound.

Hailing from Orlando, Florida, Spirit Leaves skillfully blends the raw energy of hardcore with the intricate melodies of modern art. Their music resonates with fans of Turnstile, Knocked Loose, Bring Me The Horizon, and Dayseeker, offering a sonic journey that traverses the boundaries of emotion and sound. The band’s name itself reflects their dynamic approach, as they explore new horizons in their genre, continually evolving and adapting.

Their live performances are a captivating spectacle, leaving an impact on audiences with their infectious energy and innovative sound. In the heart of Orlando’s music scene, Spirit Leaves stands as a beacon of innovation and authenticity. Their music goes beyond conventional definitions, embracing the tension between aggression and melody. Through their unique ethos, they invite listeners to join them on an exhilarating expedition into uncharted territories of music and art. With a reputation for devastating live shows and a sound that encapsulates the essence of hardcore’s wanderlust, Spirit Leaves promises an unforgettable experience that lingers long after the final chord fades.

– Brandon “XZYLO” Waskiewicz (vocals)
– Giovanni Lopez (guitar)
– Steven Rodriguesz (bass)
– Donald “Donnie” Fuson (drums)

Slowdive Make Everything Alive In Richmond

Selling out The National in Richmond, VA has become difficult for alternative bands (and any band really), but Slowdive achieved the feat by packing in people up to the back of the balcony. Everything was alive in Richmond as the shoegaze legends performed for over 90 minutes. After the impressive success of last year’s Everything Is Alive, Slowdive proved that there is still a diehard audience for this form of music.

Opening with Everything Is Alive’s “shanty” set the tone as many of the tracks felt extended for jam sessions and setting the mood for a rainy November night in Richmond. It was the type of performance that had everyone in attendance wearing a slight smile on their face as instruments were played endlessly with little to no downtime through the set.

This will most likely be my final concert to shoot for 2024, and I’m glad I closed out my year with such a strong performance. Slowdive sounded better live than I could have imagined. I had several people message me at this show saying they were jealous of getting to see Slowdive live, and now after seeing them for the first time, I understand why anyone would be jealous for missing out on a group like this.

Setlist:
shanty
Star Roving
Catch the Breeze
No Longer Making Time
Crazy for You
Souvlaki Space Station
chained to a cloud
Sugar for the Pill
kisses
Alison
When the Sun Hits
40 Days
Slomo
Dagger
Machine Gun

“Slowdive, the pioneering British shoegaze band, is currently embarked on an extensive 2024 tour, captivating audiences worldwide with their signature blend of dreamy, atmospheric soundscapes and intense live performances. The tour, which spans across multiple countries including the United States, the UK, Germany, and France, features a mix of classic tracks and new material from their recent albums.” (Perplexity)

From Zero ranges from original old-school sounding tracks like “Heavy Is The Crown”, to completely different sounding material from past Linkin Park like ‘Over Each Other”. It’s when you get to the deep cuts that you notice a few things. The instrumentals while solid, are never as catchy or striking as I’d wish.  Lyrically, the content is based around Linkin Park as an entity and the band’s struggles which is a unique take for the group but hard to connect with. Tracks like “Two Faced” and “Casualty” are lyrically disjointed and is the early 2000’s angst done almost as a cliche, while “The Emptiness Machine” and closer “Good Things Go” have some real depth. From Zero works as a Linkin Park album with some high points but mostly just songs that exist to continue the band’s legacy with a new chapter, by defining themselves and expressing how hard it is to be LInkin Park. The new version of Linkin Park isn’t spectacular, but it’s also not bad, and a band could do worse starting from zero. 6/10

Linkin Park: From Zero To Uncertainty

“Linkin Park is set to make a significant return to the music scene with their highly anticipated album, From Zero, scheduled for release on November 15, 2024. This marks the band’s first studio album since 2017’s One More Light, and it comes with a new chapter in their history. From Zero introduces Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara as the band’s new co-lead vocalist, alongside Mike Shinoda, and features Colin Brittain on drums, replacing Rob Bourdon. The album’s title holds a double meaning, referencing both the band’s original name, Xero, and this new beginning.

Reviews of From Zero highlight the album’s ability to balance innovation with the band’s signature sound. Tracks like “The Emptiness Machine,” “Heavy Is the Crown,” and “Over Each Other” showcase the band’s continued ability to craft compelling and heavy songs, with “Casualty” being noted as one of the heaviest in their career.

The album also features moments of vocal harmony and experimentation, such as the 22-second intro “From Zero (Intro),” which draws comparisons to The Beach Boys and Big Big Train. Other songs, like “Cut the Bridge,” evoke memories of classic Linkin Park tracks like “Bleed It Out,” while “Good Things Go” stands out for its symbolic lyrics and the powerful vocal blend between Armstrong and Shinoda.

Linkin Park’s From Zero is not just a new album but a rebirth, signaling the band’s determination to move forward while honoring their past. With a world tour already underway, including dates in the United States, Europe, and South America, fans are eagerly anticipating the live performances of these new tracks. Pre-order From Zero now and be part of Linkin Park’s new era in music.” (Perplexity)
