“Rock & roll conspiracies have fascinated fans for decades, with some of the most notorious theories surrounding iconic figures like Paul McCartney and the band KISS. One of the most enduring legends is the “Paul is dead” conspiracy, which claims that McCartney died in a car crash in 1966 and was replaced by a lookalike. This theory gained traction in the late 1960s as fans began to uncover supposed clues in Beatles songs and album covers, such as the infamous Abbey Road cover, interpreted as a funeral procession. Similarly, KISS has been at the center of bizarre rumors, including the claim that the band’s blood was mixed with ink to produce the red cover of a Sports Illustrated magazine. This sensational story adds to the mystique surrounding the band, which is known for its theatrical performances and elaborate personas. These examples illustrate how rock & roll conspiracies blend myth and reality, captivating audiences and fueling discussions about the hidden narratives behind beloved music legends.” (Perplexity)

Silly Goose is the audacious brainchild of Jackson Foster and Alan Benikhis, musicians who eat, sleep, and breathe the raw power of late ’90s rap rock and nu metal. Growing up, the two marinated in the vibes of Limp Bizkit, Rage Against the Machine, Gojira, and an eclectic mix of genres, all coming together to forge the unmistakable sound of Silly Goose.

Silly Goose’s first EP, The Goose Is Out Of The Bag, was put together while the boys were still in high school and laid the groundwork for their ambitious style, while simultaneously showcasing one of the attributes that their fans most appreciate – a commitment to delivering hard-hitting music without taking themselves too seriously. At the end of the day, Silly Goose are all about providing an outlet for all kinds of feelings, from frustration to rage, resentment and revenge to reveling in the joy of occasionally wanting to just be silly and mosh for the sheer exhilaration of it.

The new single “Tsunami” pushes boundaries in the spirit of the previously released tracks “King Of The Hill” and “Live It Up,” marking a massive milestone as their first release since signing with Blue Grape Music.

What truly sets Silly Goose apart is their fusion of high-energy performances with a genuine, down-to-earth vibe. They never take themselves too seriously. Their simple mission is to make good music, have fun and make the people happy; a purpose that endears them to fans who appreciate the authenticity of their vibe. Silly Goose isn’t just a band; they’re a brotherhood of rockers who live to shred and put on unforgettable live shows.

The current lineup of Silly Goose features Foster on lead vocals, Benikhis on drums, Ian Binion on lead guitar and backup vocals, and Yalli Alvarez on bass guitar and backup vocals. Together, they create a sound that’s both explosive and deeply engaging, powered by Jackson’s dynamic vocal delivery and the band’s relentless instrumentation.

“Great live TV metal performances have a unique ability to captivate audiences and showcase the raw energy of the genre. Two standout examples are Ghost on The Late Show and Rage Against The Machine on The Word.

Ghost, known for their theatrical stage presence, delivered a mesmerizing performance that combined haunting melodies with powerful visuals, engaging viewers with their dark yet catchy sound. Their appearance on The Late Show exemplified how they blend heavy metal with an almost cinematic experience, drawing in both hardcore fans and newcomers alike.

On the other hand, Rage Against The Machine’s performance on The Word was a powerful statement of rebellion and political activism. Their explosive energy and intense lyrics resonated deeply with audiences, making it a memorable moment in live music history. The band’s ability to fuse hard-hitting metal with socially conscious messages has solidified their place in the genre.

Together, these performances highlight the diverse expressions of metal music on television, showcasing its ability to entertain while provoking thought and emotion.” (Perplexity)

Primus and Coheed & Cambria Share Stage In Unique Richmond Show

This bass. Long jam sessions. Endless grooves. Guitar solos. Sing-alongs. While Primus and Coheed & Cambria may not be typical co-headliners sonically, the logic was there for the bands. According to Sanchez in a tour press release: “The music of Primus has had a creative influence on me and it is a huge honor to get to share the stage with them.”

This tour came to Richmond, Virginia at Virginia Credit Union Live. Addressing the crowd was Les Claypool, saying that he was born in Richmond, California. Claypool then assured the Virginia crowd that both Richmonds are identical and there is nothing different between the two, and that includes tweakers.

Primus performed decades worth of hits with many songs extended to give longer sessions to the tripped-out crowd. The setlist included a surprise collaboration from tour opener Puddles Pity Party who all covered Dio’s “Holy Diver”. A sad clown and the creators of the South Park theme covering a metal classic. They did Dio proud.

Primus & Puddles Pity Party cover “Holy Diver” #Shorts

“Sick Happens.” That’s what guitarist Travis Stever told the Richmond crowd when explaining Coheed‘s presence on stage. Coheed & Cambria recently performed in Washington, D.C. in karaoke fashion as singer Claudio Sanchez was sick. The ongoing illness was still present between songs for Claudio, but the band gets a gold star for effort as they wanted to continue the show and tour together.

Even with a few elongated breaks for the band to catch their breath, Coheed still made sure the hits were performed from Good Apollo and other songs over the last two decades for the group’s diehard fanbase. The group also performed before the show for their VIP fanbase, again going above and beyond even while feeling down and out.

The night opened with soundtrack clips about a fish while a clown reads the latest edition of AARP Magazine. Confused by the description? I assure you it’s accurate, as Puddles performed a range of hits with his crooning baritone voice. Puddles Pity Party in Richmond covered songs from Ozzy Osbourne, Celine Dion, and even the Gilligan’s Island theme song. The clown may look sad (and possibly scary?), but his voice is golden.

As Puddles tried to throw out guitar picks or get a bit animated on stage, the clown realized he’s not as young as his spirit feels. Here’s hoping Puddles aches heal soon after such a physically demanding performance.

While I have seen Coheed & Cambria live several times over the past 10 years, I had never seen Primus. This night was a LED filled spectacle ranging from Salad Finger clips to the sing of prog-emo classics. I’m not sure whose idea this tour lineup was, but they really created a great tour with something unique for concert goers.

___

“Primus is currently captivating audiences on their summer tour alongside Coheed & Cambria and special guest Puddles Pity Party. This dynamic trio is delivering an eclectic musical experience across the U.S., showcasing the unique sounds of each band. Primus, known for their innovative fusion of rock, funk, and psychedelia, is led by the iconic bassist Les Claypool, whose virtuosic performances are a highlight of the show. Coheed & Cambria, recognized for their concept-driven albums and powerful melodies, complements Primus with their own blend of progressive rock. Meanwhile, Puddles Pity Party adds a whimsical twist with a mix of comedy and music, performing covers in a theatrical clown persona. This tour not only celebrates the distinct styles of these influential bands but also promises an unforgettable night of live music for fans across the country.” (Perplexity)

Falling In Reverse – Popular Monster | Album Review

An album preceded by several singles over the course of four years, now including four new songs, several collaborations, and a lot of similar problems Falling In Reverse has always had. The title track and original Platinum single from pandemic is the standout and by far Radke’s best song. The remaining singles either have Radke outshined by co-collaborators such as Jelly Roll, or are incredibly messy song structures with overproduction and terrible writing. The lyrical content ranges from “Woe is me”, to “I can’t be cancelled”. All of which is delivered with terrible flows. The song “Bad Guy” is the epitome of everything wrong with Falling In Revers and the one-track thought process revolving around one person’s depiction of himself. You’ll get the occasional solid guitar riff or hook but they are few and far between, especially in the new material. What’s shocking is that Popular Monster is by far Radke’s greatest album, and it’s still a rough 3/10.

Falling In Reverse Popular Monster Album Review
Falling In Reverse “All My Life”

___

“Falling In Reverse has made a powerful return with their new album Popular Monster, released today, August 16, 2024. This marks the band’s first full-length album in seven years, following their 2017 release, Coming Home. Popular Monster features 11 tracks, including previously released singles like “Popular Monster,” “Voices In My Head,” and “Watch The World Burn,” showcasing the band’s evolution in sound and lyrical depth. With collaborations from artists such as Jelly Roll and Tech N9ne, the album promises a blend of bombastic rock and introspective themes that resonate with fans. Ronnie Radke’s complex lyricism and the band’s genre-defying style continue to push boundaries, solidifying their status as a leading force in modern metal. The anticipation surrounding this release has been palpable, and the album is expected to further elevate Falling In Reverse’s already impressive legacy in the alternative music scene.” (Perplexity)

CROBOT Share New Single “Nothing”

CROBOT ARMED WITH A POTENT COCKTAIL OF
ADRENALIN, ANCIENT MYTHS, PERSONAL DEMONS, AND A CULTURAL ICON,
CROBOT UNVEILS ITS BRAND NEW MUSIC VIDEO, “NOTHING”

With guitarist Chris Bishop having made the decision that Crobot needs “one of those “MTV-style videos,” the band – Bishop, vocalist Brandon Yeagley, bassist Pat Seals, and drummer Dan Ryan – ventured out into the wilds of Pennsylvania’s woods to do just that. Crobot’s brand new music video, “Nothing,” not only demonstrates the band’s ability to produce a seismic, sonic event, but to locate and feature one of the most sought-after legends in history – the seven-foot tall, hairy creature who stalks the woods – Bigfoot. The “Nothing” video is loud and bombastic, with an unanticipated, happy ending, and you can check it out HERE.

Crobot’s upcoming album, Obsidian, is set for a September 13 release (Megaforce Records). Produced by Crobot, recorded at The Machine Shop Studios in Austin, TX, and engineered, mixed, and mastered by Alberto De Icaza, the 12 tracks on Obsidian dive into the deep, murky waters of the human condition, threading ancient myths with personal demons across its tracks. Make Them Suffer Announce Self-Titled New Album

make them suffer

A full-circle moment forged alongside years of endurance and innovation, as Perth metalcore group Make Them Suffer announce their fifth studio album, with the self-titled full length due out on November 8 via Greyscale Records in Australia and SharpTone Records for the rest of the world. Get it here.

Spanning 11 tracks of inventive ferocity, Make Them Suffer finds the five-piece in unwavering control of their sonic identity. Bound with lashings of melodic light and blistering shade, the album also fearlessly steps into new creative waters that embraces yet boldly expands upon the group’s foundational symphonic, progressive, and blackened textures.

Also accompanying the announcement of a brand new album today, Make Them Suffer unveil their new single and video “Oscillator“: a scintillating blend of bounce, hulking electronics, and razor-sharp melodics set against Make Them Suffer’s trademark thought-provoking lyrical content.

Watch the music video for “Oscillator”here.

“‘Oscillator’ is more than just a song about screen addiction; it delves into the profound impact this addiction has on mental health,” the band shares. “As we become more reliant on this constant source of stimulation, our baseline joy and excitement for life in general becomes lowered. I believe we are currently facing a mental health crisis, largely attributable to screen addiction.”

Amongst a lineup change, a global pandemic, and the residual reality of external expectations, Make Them Suffer faced ongoing hurdles leading into their fifth studio album; and yet the band’s self-titled 2024 full-length is one unflinchingly driven by cohesion and candor, simultaneously honoring their past while expounding their present in torridly authentic fashion.

“The decision to self-title our latest record was a significant one,” shares the group. “It stands as an authentic representation of the band’s sound. We loved our band name in the early years, however, through all these years of growth, we believe the songs on this album are the best representation of ‘Make Them Suffer’ as a name and, more importantly, as our vision for the band. The album represents years of growth, evolution of sound, and is a ‘full circle’ representation of that vision.”

Tracing its origins back to 2022, the new Make Them Suffer era was first set in motion by the announcement of Sean Harmanis (vocals), Nick McLernon (guitar), Jaya Jeffery (bass), and Jordan Mather (drums) releasing the blistering single “Doomswitch” as well as joining forces with Alex Reade taking up the role of backing vocalist and keyboardist, aka Make Them Suffer’s trademark “Fifth Member.”  Following on with singles “Epitaph” and “Ghost Of Me,” Make Them Suffer ultimately crafted their forthcoming new album in between an exceedingly busy international touring schedule as live music opportunities continued to rise in the post-pandemic landscape.

Self-produced along with returning collaborator Jeff Dunne (Disturbed, Ice Nine Kills, Fit For A King) on engineering, mixing and mastering duties, Make Them Suffer is ultimately a dynamic return to heavier terrain bolstered by bold new elements, representing a new chapter that also honours and snapshots the hurdles and hard work faced by Make Them Suffer along the way.

“It feels like all the pieces have come together to create a special moment in the band’s career,” Make Them Suffer share. “The album is the result of years of accumulation of material, experimentation, and growth. We think that really comes through in the songs. We’re incredibly excited for people to hear our self-titled record, and even more excited about what the future holds. We can’t wait to bring these songs to life on big stages with bigger productions, giving them the spectacle they deserve.”

The band finishes, “Anybody following the band over the past number of years knows we have undergone immense change, self-discovery, and subsequently, have experienced a reinvention. We feel as if the stars have aligned to create a very special time in the band’s career and we can’t wait to show everyone that growth.”

Forming in 2008, Make Them Suffer roared to life armed with ferocious deathcore leanings before stamping their name on the heavy scene with lashings of melodic flair via their 2012 debut full length Neverbloom. From here, a fearless pursuit of creative exploration would see the group morph from local Perth favourites into stalwart fixtures on the world stage, expanding their reach into melodic death metal, heavy metalcore, symphonic elements and beyond.

Previously releasing four studio albums, including 2020’s How to Survive A Funeral, which debuted at #17 on the Australian Charts, Make Them Suffer have amassed millions of streams, performed sold out headline runs, and toured the globe alongside a horde of industry heavyweights, including Parkway Drive, While She Sleeps, ERRA, and Stray From The Path.

In 2024 alone, Make Them Suffer have continued their world domination with an almost entirely sold out Australian tour supporting Bring Me The Horizon with Sleep Token in April, a run of European and UK festivals, including Download Festival, Copenhell, and Jera On Air, and their huge Suffer Forever Australian headline tour set to kick off later this month. Already sold out in Brisbane, Newcastle, and Melbourne, Make Them Suffer will be joined by special guests Bury Tomorrow, Spite and Bloom for this unforgettable down under run, before the band head across the ditch for a headline show in New Zealand, and close out 2024 supporting Bury Tomorrow in the UK and Europe.
