MTV Unplugged is an American television series on MTV showcasing musical artists usually playing acoustic instruments. The show aired regularly from 1989 to 1999 and less frequently from 2000 to 2009, when it was usually billed as MTV Unplugged No. 2.0. Since 2009, Specials have aired occasionally, sometimes online only. Episodes and specials have tended to showcase one artist or group, playing a combination of their hit songs and covers. Eric Clapton‘s Unplugged (1992) sold 26 million copies worldwide and became the best-selling live album of all time. Other Unplugged albums that went platinum include Mariah Carey(1992), Rod Stewart (1993), 10,000 ManiacsTony Bennett (1994), Page and Plant‘s No Quarter (1994), Nirvana (1994), Alice in Chains (1996), Shakira (1999), Ricky Martin (2006), Lauryn Hill (2001) and Alicia Keys‘ (2005). Some of these albums produced successful singles as well, including Mariah Carey’s No. 1 hit cover of “I’ll Be There“.

Many of the artists who appeared on the show in the 1990s released their Unplugged session as an album, and some of these albums were commercial and critical hits. The show received the George Foster Peabody Award and three Primetime Emmy nominations, in its original form.

Following overwhelming success in 2021, leading independent festival promoter and producer Danny Wimmer Presents renewed their partnership with Twitch, the leading interactive livestreaming service, and are bringing even more programming to the platform. Since launching last June, the channel’s exclusive and unique content has brought in more than 10.3 million live views, 51.7 million+ minutes watched, 5.29 million unique views, over 1.41 million chat messages, and more than 25,000 followers for DWPresents on Twitch.

After getting kicked out of Danny Wimmer’s basement, the hosts have now found a home on the moon where they host all of their shows.

Steered by Bobby Schubenski (Blackcraft Cult founder) and Josh Balz (Strange Kids, ex-Motionless In White), That Space Zebra Show is best known for its new music and unsigned band discovery, as well as its signature comic banter. That being said, it has always been a dream of mine to also host my own TV show…this is that! Big bonus is that it is with one of my oldest and bestest friends, Heidi ShepherdDanny Wimmer Presents has been family for years and having them support The Gunz Club means the world to me. MACHINE HEAD Announce New Album “ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN”

Bay Area metal titans MACHINE HEAD has announced the details of their forthcoming tenth album, the immense and unapologetic, ‘ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN’ coming August 26th, 2022 (via Nuclear Blast x Imperium Recordings). The debut of the first video from the album, the ferocious CHØKE ØN THE ASHES ØF YØUR HATE can be viewed below.

‘ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN’ is a 13 track concept album set in a decimated futuristic wasteland where the sky is stained crimson red. The crux of the story is based on two main characters:

Character #1 Ares: (pronounced Aries), our main, who loses the love of his life (Amethyst) and goes on a murderous rampage against the vile sect responsible for her murder.

Character #2 Eros: (pronounced Arrows) the perpetrator, who loses his mother to a drug overdose and becomes radicalized in the aftermath. Eros goes off the deep end manifesting his own killing spree.

The lyrics detail how their lives intertwine.

MACHINE HEAD founder Robb Flynn comments:

“Thanks to my 2 teenage boys my family has become obsessed with this awesome Japanese anime series called “Attack On Titan.” The album’s concept was loosely inspired by the series in the sense that in the storyline, there is no “good” or “bad” guy, both characters believe they’re doing the right thing as it applies to their being, but make no mistake, both are committing acts of pure atrocity and evil. The opening track “SLAUGHTER THE MARTYR” is basically our character #1’s origin story.”

The colossal concept comes with a list of equally colossal packaging for various physical formats including 16 different worldwide vinyl formats, deluxe vinyl box set (with bonus tracks), CDs (both old-school longbox and jewel box options), multi-color cassettes, and a limited-edition Digipak with bonus tracks.

CDs, Digipak, cassettes, and all digital formats will be available on Aug 26th, with all vinyl formats arriving on Nov 25th.

If you had to sum up Northlane in a word, it would be resilient. In their 12-year career, the four-piece has weathered the kind of storms that would have seen most other bands bow out of the game. Yet through every bout of turbulence, Northlane emerges on the other side with fortitude and a trailblazing body of work that shifts the tectonic plates of heavy music around the globe. Emboldened by the success of their 2019 award-winning album, Alien, Northlane’s new offering, Obsidian, is their most expansive and dynamic album yet. Self-recorded and self-produced with the help of their longtime collaborator Chris Blancato, the sound Northlane have been working towards over the span of their career has been fully realised on Obsidian. Sonically spanning the gamut of their entire discography, Northlane’s trademark heavy comfortably coexists with techno, drum and bass, intriguing synths, perplexing time signatures, and widescreen choruses. It’s this fearless evolution that keeps Northlane light years ahead of everyone else in heavy music. Northlane offered a preview of the album via “Clockwork,” a frantic and pulsating fever dream that served as an insight into the mind of a musician forced to be creative after a devastating year and the toll it took on him. Throughout Obsidian, Bridge chronicles his despair at the state of the world whilst also trying to pick up the pieces and move forward with his own life after sharing his harrowing life story on Alien. It’s bleak, but that’s the point.

Slipknot Return To The Road And The Chaos

It’s when the real crazies come out that you know the world is getting back to normal. Corey Taylor asked, “Who’s idea was it to get the craziest people in Peoria into the same building on the same night?” Whosever idea it was, everyone appeared to love the results with Slipknot.

Slipknot returned to Peoria, IL on the Knotfest Roadshow with the best present possible: chaos. The crowd became unhinged after several songs at the home of the Rivermen. It was during the performance of “Unsainted” that crowd surfers started flying in droves and the friendly security staff at the Peoria Civic Center had to stop and stare at just what in the world was going on in their sweet little town.

Click here for a video on
10 Bands Metal Elitists Hate!

Taylor addressed the crowd saying that the band would have a new album coming out very soon, and performed their latest song “The Chapeltown Rag” which will be featured on it. This will be the follow-up to the excellent We Are Not Your Kind from 2019.

Slipknot – “The Chapeltown Rag”

Slipknot will be continuing the two-leg tour of Knotfest Roadshow 2022 through the first half of the year. Following that will be several festival performances including Louder Than Life and Aftershock Festivals in the United States. We do not have a definite date as of now for the next Slipknot album, but it appears the nine have much in store for us.

Setlist:

Wait and Bleed

Dead Memories
Unsainted

FOZZY Unleash Their Inner Fire with Music Video for “I STILL BURN”

More than two decades into their journey as an unrelenting force of Rock n’ Roll dreams come true, FOZZY are enjoying the biggest peak of their career to date! Last month, the band released their new single, “I Still Burn”, which quickly became the NUMBER ONE added song on rock radio…and today they release the visually explosive new video for the song, a critically acclaimed short film, that is as artistic as it is exciting!

Speaking about their new single, frontman Chris Jericho comments:I Still Burn is the story of the dreams, the passion and the fire that lies within all of us to be the absolute best we can be…and to do WHATEVER it takes to achieve the goals that make our dreams come true! The sacrifices, the losses, and the triumphs that we have all experienced make up the lyrical DNA of this song. I Still Burn is Fozzy’s mission statement, our life’s work and our destiny…and we are so proud to share this message of victory with our Fozzy family!! Plus, Rich’s guitar solo fuckin rules!!!”

Rich Ward (lead guitar) adds, “My entire career has been about pushing to the summit of the climb, never satisfied with boiling water with the Sherpas at Base Camp 2. I’ve been touring and making records for three decades, and I remain as passionate as ever. I Still Burn is the story of the fire that fuels that passion. This is our story!”

The new album from Fozzy‘Boombox’, will see a May 6th, 2022 release via Sony Music. Pre-order for the record is available HERE.

As fans worldwide wait in anticipation for the release of ‘Boombox’, FOZZY is honored to celebrate the song that changed their world forever and proved once and for all that ROCK is still alive and well. Approaching five years since it first hit airwaves, “Judas” is now a GOLD Certified record! A remarkable feat in the modern era of rock music, Fozzy will toast to their landmark anthem at the band’s upcoming album release show in New York on Monday, April 11th. It’s going to be a party like only FOZZY can put on!

Addressing the news of “Judas” going Gold, Jericho says:“Being awarded a GOLD record has been a dream of mine ever since I started listening to The Beatles at nine years old and saw a picture of them getting an award for ‘Beatles VI’. Then as I grew older and heard Ozzy talk about his “gold discs” and seeing the walls of Rudolf Schenker’s house plastered with framed Scorpions awards, I set my goals on someday getting one of my own. And for ‘Judas’ to have sold 500,000 units in this day and age, completely blows my mind as a fan and a musician, and also makes me realize how far Fozzy has come and how far we are going to go!! Thanks to ALL OF YOU for making this dream come true for me and the guys. I can’t wait to hang my award on my wall…just like Rudolph.”

If you think rock n’ roll fairy tales are a thing of the past, you haven’t met Eva Under Fire. These Detroit rock upstarts got their start five years ago and instantly began cutting their teeth in the underground rock scene, building an enthusiastic fan base the old-fashioned way. However the band’s trajectory shifted toward the stratosphere when they sent an unsolicited demo to Better Noise Music, who recognized the band’s hybrid of rock, metal, pop and classic rock as something wholly unique.

That said, it took a lot of hard work for them to get to this point. The group’s roots go back to 2015 when Eva, guitarists Chris Slapnik and Rob Lyberg, bassist Ed Joseph and drummer Corey Newsom, decided to get together and write music that represented their diverse set of influences. The chemistry clicked and after releasing a well received full-length and two EPs, the band signed to Better Noise and spent the past two years working on their next album, their most ambitious and fully realized release to date.

Orange County, California hardcore band Stick to Your Guns have announced their new album Spectre, out July 29 via Pure Noise Records. Pre-order it here.

Today, the band has shared the video for the first single “Weapon.” Watch it here

“‘Weapon’ is about coming to terms with the reality of who I am,” shares singer Jesse Barnett about the intensely powerful song. “I believe that people are products of the circumstances that are forced on them everyday. People say that ‘The American Dream’ is a lie. I don’t think that’s true at all. I think ‘The American Dream’ is alive and well, but like always, it’s only available to a select few. Who I am in this formula is someone who doesn’t accept that. I don’t care about fair. I don’t care about equal. I care about what’s right, and since the inception of this country, the things it stands for and the things it’s built upon, I believe it is irredeemable and it is my purpose to try to build something new in its place. But before we can do that, what is currently there must be dismantled. A country of sycophants lead by violence addicted oligarchs should and will be destroyed. Every person reaches a crossroads in their life. Roll over or keep going. Sometimes all you have is heart. I know it’s all I have and that’s all I need.”

Stick to Your Guns will hit the road, starting tomorrow, with Rise Against + Pennywise. All dates are below.

Ville Valo To Release New Single “Loveletting” + 2023 Tour Plans

Finnish Love Metal pioneer, Ville Valo, will release a new single, “Loveletting,” on April 8 under the VV banner. “Loveletting” is taken from VV’s forthcoming debut album Neon Noir

He explains, “As fun as the funeral rites for HIM were, it took me more than a few moons to lick my wounds in the shadow of the Heartagram and come up with an excuse to strum and hum again. Eventually, I decided to put a leash on my beloved black dog and we started howling together instead of barking at each other. That’s how ‘Loveletting’ was born.”

“Loveletting” will be made available across all digital platforms from midnight (local time) tonight.

An official video clip will air this morning at 11am ET here.

VV’s debut album Neon Noir is scheduled for release in early 2023; belonging to the same forlorn world of woe and whimsy once conceived and governed by Valo in HIM, VV arrives with additional nuanced notes of a fine aged Cabernet.

Valo adds, “Artistically speaking, the main difference between HIM and VV is the extra line in the Heartagram, but what an exquisite line it is! It’s the Mamas and the Papas dressed up as Metallica on their way to a Halloween bash at the Studio 54, and now who wouldn’t want to witness that?”

Further details around Neon Noir will be released in due course. In the meantime, fans are invited to any number of VV’s headline tour dates taking place next year across Europe, the UK, and North America. Naturally starting in Helsinki, Finland, the 2023 extensive run reaches the UK in March, before heading to America come April.

U.S. tickets will be available for purchase from Friday, April 15 at 10am local time.

About Ville Valo:
In the annals of 21st century alternative rock history, there are few artists who cast a longer or more peculiar shadow than Finnish Love Metal pioneer Ville Valo. After all, his band HIM was easily among the most iconic and idiosyncratic groups of the millennium. Zealously revered, gleefully reviled, but impossible to ignore, their music left an indelible mark on a worldwide legion of fans. The scarlet letters stood for His Infernal Majesty. Their founder stood for something delightedly out of step with the status quo. “We only hoped to temporarily redirect hard rock’s blood flow from the nether regions towards the heart,” reminisces Ville Valo, the singer, songwriter and primus motor of HIM. Judging by the monolithic presence of the Heartagram in any account of music this side of the millennium it’s apparent that he succeeded. Inspired by everyone from Poe to Bukowski, and tinged by a penchant for perfumed Sabbathian gloom, Valo’s creative lovechild would produce eight era-defining studio releases and over 10 million record sales, not forgetting a Grammy nomination, countless magazine covers, critical acclaim, and the veneration of a generation. Thus it came as no surprise that the news of a farewell tour in 2017 was greeted with shock and disbelief among devotees and endless speculation as to what or who was to take up the velvet mantle.
