It was a sloppy Friday night show (their words, not mine).
PUP returned to St. Louis in the middle of the “PUP Returns Thank ******* God” tour at The Pageant. This runs along with the promotion of the group’s latest album “The Unraveling Of PUPTHEBAND” which came out earlier this year (short review of the album below).
With the opening keyboard notes of “Four Chords” leading into more new music from the band’s latest release, it was clear that PUP had their performance and timing down. Deep into the tour after waiting almost endlessly for pandemic restrictions to end. Despite the comically cynical nature of many PUP songs, this was an upbeat show to a good crowd in St. Louis. This indeed was a great Friday night show, even though the band has felt like it’s been Friday for several days in a row.
This was my first time seeing PUP live even though I’ve been listening to the band for years, with Morbid Stuff being one of my favorite albums of 2019. In that time since following the band, I’ve always heard PUP put on a good performance. I’m not only happy with what I saw, but I wasn’t the only one. This was a concert that felt good to be at. Stefan Babcock addressing the crowd and thanking St. Louis for always being good to them and then telling everyone to make friends with each other in the audience made everything feel wholesome, before going into songs with a cynical but cheeky outlook on life.
PUP will continue on the road through the US and overseas later this year. Click below to see photos from PUP live in St. Louis, scroll down for tour dates, and to hear music from the band’s latest album.
Indie rock band Sunsleeper have shared their newest track, “Blemishes” via Rude Records. Colored by the warm halo of 90s alt-rock nostalgia, the new track takes memories of an ending relationship and reframes them into lessons of mindfulness. Fans can stream “Blemishes” now.
“’Blemishes’ is about the slow unraveling of a deeply important friendship, as well as the acceptance of the relationship’s end,” shares vocalist Jeffery Mudgett. “The freedom in letting go of a toxic relationship is underrated. Sometimes there’s no need to mourn the end, but rather we should celebrate leaving that toxicity behind.”
“Blemishes” follows the release of previous tracks “Currents” and “In The Clouds”. Dripping with a 90’s inspired alt-rock feel, both of the tracks envelope moments with the mist of nostalgia and the power of dreaming. The tracks have gained notice from Ones To Watch, Hot Topic, Loudwire, Atwood Magazine, and other notable outlets.
Sunsleeper was halfway through the touring cycle for their debut album when the pandemic halted live music. For the Salt Lake City indie rockers, that pause allowed them to reframe what their journey as musicians and people inspires them to create and say. After forming in 2016 and briskly realizing their Nathan Hussey-produced debut EP Stay the Same, the band entered the studio for their debut album, inking a deal with Rude Records. You Can Miss Something and Not Want it Back dropped in summer 2019, with the band celebrating with runs featuring their collaborators and friends in All Get Out, an Audiotree live session, and most recently, a run with TWIABP and Bent Knee in fall 2021.
While the pandemic still rages on in uncertain terms, Sunsleeper found themselves more solidified than ever writing their sophomore LP, with their road-tested lineup collaborating cohesively and with united goals. The band even found time to use the pandemic’s themes to rework Mac Miller’s “Come Back to Earth,” highlighting the track’s balance of self-reflection and hopelessness. (Sunsleeper on this recording is vocalist/guitarist Jeffery Mudgett, guitarist Matt Mascarenas, guitarist Cody Capener, bassist Jacob Lara, and drummer Scott Schilling.)
Future Palace have shared the video for “Dead Inside.” Watch it here.
The song appears on the band’s sophomore album Run, out tomorrow, June 10, on Arising Empire. Get the album, which has been receiving increased attention from radio and press, such as SiriusXM, Idobi, American Songwriter Bringin’ It Backwards, A&P Reacts, Good Noise, and more, here. The release comes in CD, limited colored vinyl, and bundle formats.
“Dead Inside” is about the aftershocks from a toxic relationship that not only left its mark in the past, but also raises the question of how to deal with it after the fact.
“At the beginning of ‘Dead Inside,’ there was the personal experience that there are people who justify their behavior by saying that they are irrevocably and emotionally cold,” says guitarist Manuel. “The track deals with a sometimes tragic situation both — lyrically and instrumentally. It reflects inner turmoil, helplessness, and anger at the same time.”
“Dead Inside” is the kind of song that begs to be played live, as well. “The new songs not only sound different,” he continues. “They also came from different feelings. We are therefore particularly looking forward to the live shows — because capturing these feelings in music is one thing. Being able to share and express them directly is another.” This is music that wants to be heard and felt — always and everywhere.
For the music video, Future Palace worked with Peter Leukhardt(Annisokay, Beyond the Black, and Rising Insane.)
Run was produced by Julian Breucker and Annisokay guitarist Christoph Wieczorek, who also mixed and mastered the record.
The album explores the aftermath of a toxic relationship in a stunning and vulnerable way. The struggle with one’s own salvation is only the beginning — even after escaping from a tough situation. The band sets these painful processes to music in dramatic post-hardcore fashion, which atmospherically reproduces the ups and downs of emotions. Kindred sonic spirits are Holding Absence, Spiritbox, While She Sleeps, Bring Me The Horizon, and Pvris.
Future Palace released their debut Escape via Arising Empire and have since accumulated several million streams across streaming platforms.
“When I started going to concerts again, simply put, I got the itch,” says Justin Warfield of dark alternative band SHE WANTS REVENGE who today are extending that itch to their fans with the announcement of a Summer tour. Like most bands, the pandemic kept touring and creativity in a state of stasis, and with a return to live music this year, Warfield and Adam Bravin are hitting the road as She Wants Revenge and reuniting… this time, hopefully, for good.
With a setlist planned to keep both new and longtime fans happy, the band are rejuvenated and ready to bring their audience back up on their feet. “Adam and I made individual lists of what we’d most like to play live, and they were actually quite similar,” Warfield says. “The songs we may pull out on any given night are personal favorites, what we feel reflects our headspace and musical taste at the moment, and obviously the hits, though it sounds funny to say that.”
Kicking off at San Diego’s Music Box on August 11th, the dates focus mostly on the western half of the States. “Being without live music for such a long stretch during the pandemic was devastating not only as a fan, but also as a musician,” he states. “When it was finally safe enough to unmask and play with friends in a rehearsal room, it was amazing, but it still wasn’t the same as the unpredictability and energy of a real show.” (Tour dates below)
Aug 11 – Music Box (San Diego, CA) – Ticket link Aug 12 – Strummers (Fresno, CA) – Ticket link Aug 13 – Great American Music Hall (San Francisco, CA) – Ticket link Aug 14 – The Ritz (San Jose, CA) – Ticket link Aug 16 – Doug Fir Lounge (Portland, OR) – Ticket link Aug 17 – The Crocodile (Seattle, WA) – Ticket link Aug 18 – Visual Arts Collective (Boise, ID) – Ticket link Aug 19 – Urban Lounge (Salt Lake City, UT) – Ticket link Aug 23 – Sunshine Theater (Albuquerque, NM) – Ticket link Aug 25 – Van Buren (Phoenix, AZ) Aug 26 – Backstage Bar (Las Vegas, NV) – Ticket link Aug 27 – Ventura Music Hall (Ventura, CA)
After two indefinite band breakups (the first in 2012 after the release of 2011’s Valleyheart and again in 2020 after their four-year reunion tour), the original duo of Warfield/Bravin decided to get together and hash out their differences – hopefully this time permanently and redefine what exactly She Wants Revenge is. After a month-long conversation about the good, the bad, and the ugly of their long and fruitful, yet complicated relationship and after some tough conversations, soul searching, and a willingness to do the work, they found a way forward. No longer would the band themselves or the fans be deprived of more music.
“The disbanding in 2020 was the culmination of almost two decades of an incredible, fruitful, creative, yet challenging partnership – anyone who’s been in a long-term relationship can understand,” Warfield admits. “We’re very different people, and neither of us is without fault. But once I realized I wanted to continue with the band, I felt that do so together required us to sit down and really unpack the last 18 years, be honest in a way we perhaps had never done before, to explore what we wanted as individuals, and then see if that was something which could work for one another.”
Having exploded on the scene in 2005 with their evergreen hit single and dance floor classic “Never Tear You Apart,” which brought the band a massive audience and supporting slots for Bloc Party, Depeche Mode, Psychedelic Furs, co-headlining with Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy, and a headlining Coachella slot alongside Daft Punk, the musically formidable band exploded in the alternative scene with a handful of singles including “Out of Control” and “These Things” just as streaming drastically reshaped the industry. Persevering and collaborating with Timbaland, making videos with Shirley Manson and Joaquin Phoenix, She Wants Revenge flourished in the post-punk world while running counter to their dance punk and emotionally distanced contemporaries by keeping their heart-on-sleeve lyricism front center. But as with any creative duo, the visceral and emotional immersion that enveloped the pair slowly proved to be their undoing and the two creative forces split to tackle solo artistic endeavors. But as fate wasn’t done with them yet, while it drove the pair apart, it also brought them back together… this time with a modified mission statement.
With a new understanding of what the band is, the duo expanded to a five-piece. “The new lineup is myself on vocals and guitar, Adam on synths, keys, samples and effects, Thomas Froggatt (who formerly played guitar) on bass, Spencer Rollins (a longtime creative associate and friend of the band) on guitar, and David Goodstein (a good friend of ours who’s done session work for both Adam and me) on drums. It’s the first time we’ve been a 5-piece, and the energy, musicianship, and vibe are really exciting, and I think fans of the band will be very pleased.”
Ready for a new chapter in the shifting evolution of the band, Warfield is excited. “We really just want to continue to grow, both creatively and in reach,” he smiles. “We know who we are as a band, but we’re also not the same guys who made that first record, so musically there’s a lot left for us to explore.”
Ahead of kicking off their tour opening for 5 Seconds of Summer, pop-punk bastions of individuality Pale Waves have released their new song “Reasons To Live” from their upcoming album Unwanted, out August 12 via Dirty Hit. PRESS HERE to listen to “Reasons To Live,” a euphoric burst of electric energy about finding someone who leads you out of darkness and gives you a reason to keep going. First premiered by ZaneLowe, the song is as ready for arenas as it is for screaming into a hairbrush in the mirror.
“‘Reasons To Live’” is about a time when I felt truly drained and incapable of happiness,” shares frontwoman Heather Baron-Gracie on the song. “Then I found someone who showed me a reason to live.”
“Reasons To Live” follows the release of lead single “Lies,” an angst-fueled, rebellious pop-punk anthem that pairs the crunchy guitars and rhythmic drive of 2000s with the rage of a 90s rock band to speak to lies catching up with someone who has shattered your trust. PRESS HERE to watch the video for the track which was premiered on BBC Radio 1 as Hottest Record In The World and was recorded in Los Angeles with producer ZakkCervini (Blink-182, Modern Baseball, Halsey, Machine Gun Kelly).
PRESS HERE to pre-order Unwanted, a body of work informed by Pale Waves’ personal and artistic journey that reaches out into the passionate community of misfits and LGBTQIA+ fans around the band, tapping into darker emotions than ever before while also striking a fresh tone of defiance. “It was really the only thing this album could be called,” continues Heather. “It’s bold and unapologetic, and that’s what the Pale Waves community is about. We don’t need to fit a perfect mold, we don’t need to apologize for being ourselves, and we won’t change for anyone. That acceptance is what connects us.”
Kicking off June 11, Pale Waves will be embarking on a select run of U.S. headline shows before touring as main support for 5 Seconds of Summer’s nationwide U.S. amphitheater tour this summer and appearing at a string of international festival dates. PRESS HERE for tickets.
Cementing their status as one of the most exciting acts to come out of the UK with the 2021 sophomore album Who Am I?, Pale Waves have made a name for themselves by inspiring inclusivity and self-discovery and creating space for people hoping to figure out who they are. Flipping the script to introduce a nostalgic pop-punk sound built on newfound confidence, Who Am I? introduced standout singles “Change,” “Easy,” and “She’s My Religion” alongside a distinct, guitar-laden alternative energy and hit #3 on the UK album charts. The album received critical acclaim from Pitchfork, Vanity Fair, Billboard, NPR, Wall Street Journal, Buzzfeed, The FADER, AV Club, Vulture, Consequence, Stereogum, Alternative Press, NYLON, and many more.
Pale Waves – comprised of front woman Heather Baron-Gracie (she/her); drummer Ciara Doran (they/them); guitarist Huge Silvani (he/him) and bassist Charlie Wood (he/him) – made an immediate splash when they debuted on the music scene with their debut album My Mind Makes Noises, hitting the Top 10 on UK Album Chart, winning the NME Under The Radar award, touring with fellow Dirty Hit label mates and mentors The 1975 as well as Muse and The Cure, performing at Reading, Leeds, Lollapalooza, and SXSW, and appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Progressive groove metal juggernauts JINJER have once again beat the odds: the band announces today that with the support of the Ukrainian Ministry Of Culture, they have been granted a special exemption to exit Ukraine in order to help their countrymen the best way they can – through music. This also means that JINJER’s upcoming EU festival appearances this summer are confirmed! The band will perform across Europe starting June 10 at Greenfiel Festival in Interlaken (CH).
JINJER bassist Eugene states: “We are very honored to announce that together with the help of the Ukrainian Ministry Of Culture, we have successfully been granted permission to travel abroad as ambassadors of our country to raise funds and awareness about the war raging back home. This is a huge honor for us as a band and as citizens. We will do our part to make sure that this war stops as soon as possible! Come support, dance and scream your hearts out for Ukraine!”

In addition to this exciting news, JINJER released a surprise music video for “Call Me A Symbol”, taken off their latest critically acclaimed album, Wallflower.
Eugene adds: “I think this video for ‘Call Me A Symbol’ will forever hold a special and unique place in our hearts as a band. Filmed on our short but awesome European Tour in 2021 tour that almost did not happen because of the pandemic, and now released at such a dark time in which our country has been invaded and there is war on the streets of our home. I really hope this video and this important time in history gives people a new perspective that there are always two sides to everything. Good and Evil, Just and unjust – cherish the good times and face the bad head on… but never ever give up.”

Australian juggernauts PARKWAY DRIVE have steadily evolved from metal underdogs to festival-headlining behemoth, off the back of close to 20 grueling years, six critically and commercially acclaimed studio albums (all of which achieved Gold status in their home nation), three documentaries, one live album, nearly a billion total streams, and many, many thousands of shows.
Today, they have shared the video for the brand new single “Glitch.”
The song explores the things that our minds experience when we are not awake — but not yet asleep — the world of night terrors and sleep paralysis.
It also marks the first new material from the band since 2018’s Reverence — and it was worth the wait.
“Parkway Drive have always walked the line of balancing the light and the dark, and ‘Glitch’ is no exception,” the band shares. “Sonically, we aimed to create a dark, heavy, and unnerving journey while still crafting a melody that burrows its way into your mind. Lyrically, the song deals with the phenomenon of night terrors and sleep paralysis. We all know the power our minds possess, but true terror manifests when your mind and all its fears takes physical control of your body. The glitch in your brain, where nightmares and reality cross.”

“Two decades ago, Lamb of God, along with Killswitch Engage, were a part of a new wave of American heavy metal music. Our scene grew from a small, loosely connected network of underground shows in basements and warehouses, into a global phenomenon that helped define an entire generation of modern heavy metal. We are thrilled to announce The Omens Tour, which celebrates not only the perseverance and impact of that original movement, but also the creativity and originality of the bands that it influenced. Heavy metal is alive and well.
The Omens Tour proudly showcases the depth and diversity of our scene. This is not a tour to miss.” – Mark Morton
Densely muscular, soaked in unnerving spite, with a pessimistic eye toward inner struggles and global affairs alike, Omens is a furious entry in the Lamb Of God catalog, perhaps their angriest album yet. “The world is crazy and keeps changing. Omens is a reaction to the state of the world,” explains vocalist D. Randall Blythe. “It’s a very pissed-off record.” He pauses for emphasis. “It is extremely pissed-off.”
Omensis also Lamb Of God‘s most diverse affair. The band tracked live in the room together at Henson Recording Studios (formerly A&M Studios) in Los Angeles, California, a location that birthed classics from The Doors, Pink Floyd, The Ramones, and Soundgarden, among others. “The inner workings of the band have never been better,” explains guitarist Mark Morton. “You can hear it in Omens. You can see it in our performances, and if you’re around us for five minutes, you can feel it.”
The Omens album pre-order is live now at Lamb-Of-God.com, boasting several exclusive items, including a signed colored vinyl variant, shirt, hoodie, and signed CDs with an alternate color cover. All physical CD and Vinyl releases will include a free access code to watch the livestream viewing of “The Making of Omens” documentary, which will premiere the week of album release.
