The Hardcore tag-team of Destin Taylor and Joseph Fox have released their newest single, “Devoid of Pulse”, as of November 24th.
An unrelenting 90-second onslaught, “Devoid of Pulse” is just another offering from hitbox that I fear is flying under too many radars. Not wasting a second, the first half is a blistering affront to hate, with lyrics like “Leave trans kids alone Leave queer teens alone Time will come Meet your god and face your sin”. The second half consists of a monstrous, sludgy breakdown that fades into distortion. Before you know it, the track is over.
With production from nightlife’s Hansel Romero, slamming double-bass and overlapping guitars maximize the heaviness soundscape. The bar hitbox has set in previous offerings, like “Grief Inheritance“, transcends just being a “hardcore band” with so much going on that bits and pieces of powerviolence, deathcore, and even cybergrind make their way in. With an album on the way, now’s better than ever to check out hitbox.
