There was a dust-bowl rising at Kentucky Expo Center after thousands of rock fans moving back and forth through the first day of Louder Than Life. It was an extremely hot setting and the dust storm was a big factor in playing for Chicago’s three piece rock group that have been a big part of the scene for almost twenty years now. In turn, the dust is going to settle on this chapter of Chevelle at the end of this year, as long time bassist Dean Bernardini will be leaving the band to spend more time with his family. Chevelle’s next album will be his final with Dean as well.

The band performed an excellent set in Louisville and if this is Dean’s last run with the band, then I say cheers to the man for an amazing career. He has helped flesh out the band and grow from their sound in the early 2000’s. The group went into the studio over a month ago to work on their upcoming release and here’s hoping it won’t take much longer. Check out Chevelle on one of their headline tour dates this fall if you can. They are proof that it’s the sound that makes a concert something special.
