Babymetal – The Other One | Album Review

This is the most ambitious Babymetal album and also I feel their best. Think of the tracks on The Other One as parallel worlds that Babymetal exist in. That idea along with a more mature and dynamic-sounding final product makes The Other One stand out. The Kami Band does a great job supporting Su and Moametal. There is variety in speed and energy which I think suits the album’s direction. Songs like Divine Attack and Maya have a fantastic build-up. The big hooks are here WHILE not JUST being hooks and choruses. There are many layers to an album like this, and it’ll require a few listens to take everything in, but it’s worth the time wave. 8/10

Babymetal – “Divine Attack”

Babymetal (Japanese: ベビーメタル, Hepburn: Bebīmetaru) (stylized in all caps) is a Japanese kawaii metal band consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto as “Su-metal” and Moa Kikuchi as “Moametal”. The band is produced by Kobametal from the Amuse talent agency. Their vocals are backed by heavy metal instrumentation, performed by a group of session musicians known as the “Kami Band” at performances. The band’s unique sound combines elements of heavy metal and J-Pop, creating a style that is both energetic and catchy.
